While I really like this scrapped ending, the one that we got hit such an emotional note with Ai that I honestly wouldn't trade it in for anything. The meaning behind Ais name is still one of the best lines in yugioh and changes your perspective on how Yusaku viewed his partner even from the very start of the series
7:30 i would have loved those moments. Non-stae duels especially if we had moments like this: - Yusaku doing every misplay he could think of with his bad deck, yet still beating Naoki. - Aoi asking Takeru for a friendly rematch (once she was partnered with aqua and he with flame). this also gives the bonus of letting the Ignis interact with each other so their deaths hurt more. -Miyu appearing in the duel club and maybe having an In real life duel with aoi. even if she only appeared as a quick scene have her play aoi's trickstars AND a drama non-stakes duel: have revovler and playmaker have a duel. revovler wanting to steel up yusaku's determination to fight ai. maybe even beating him and warning him that he shouldn't hesitate at all when he has to go against ai.
at best they culd say Ai preserved the people's consciusness into a locked cyberworld (think it like yugioh) but that earth by all accoutns is inhabitable
I believe they just did a one off line saying the other pieces were investors. Not to say that it wasnt rushed or that they should have had a bigger role. Just that they did technically explain them.

Season 0 is really not that dark. There are already plenty of things in Yu-Gi-Oh that are darker than season 0, like season 3 of GX. Now if we're talking about the manga that's a different story. Although this would have been even darker than the manga.
Honestly while the darker ending might have been interesting I still probably would prefer how the show ended proper, if only because the way the finale played out it ended up being very bittersweet and felt very unique. The fact that Playmaker won at the cost of basically killing his closest friend and one of the few positive parts to have come out of the Lost Incident is already so painfully tragic. While like a lot of people I hoped Playmaker would have gotten a proper loss or two during the series the fact that he does not come out better on the other end (even Yuya in Arc V seemed fairly confident and happy) adds a unique flavor to the end of Vrains.
Right, I mean in 5Ds that timeline gets saved by Yusei, in this iteration the show would have ended with the heroes losing, unable to prevent the end of the world
Damn it's crazy that Vrains had such a dark end originally. No wonder they changed it. But this sort of scrapped stuff always intrigues me. It makes me wonder how differently things would have gone down. It makes me wish that the scrapped ideas were somehow OVAs.
Agreed, VRAINS needed more lightheartedness to it. I still smile when I think of the episode where it looks like Naoki figured out Playmaker's identity.
Not surprised to hear that Ai was supposed to be the "villain" from the beginning. I feel like the very first hint, now in the aftermath was probably that he mentioned early on that he's quite handsome and later we got... Well that humanoid Ai xD. So, I was sure that they planned this from the beginning.
I prefer how VRAINS actually ended. It would have been nice to see VRAINS take a different path, but I've moved on and I'm interested in seeing how Sevens plays out. VRAINS' writing could have been better, yes. I honestly wanted more from the series than we got, but I'm past that now, because I spent 6 months working through my disappointment over the ending and VRAINS' other flaws. I loved VRAINS' characters more than I've loved a cast in a long time and I've arrived at a place of acceptance. The series was still enjoyable for me and I fully accept the series as what we got. What got to me was the cliffhanger ending and then the announcement of Sevens. I've even moved on from this too. VRAINS isn't perfect, but I'm glad I can see its flaws and still call myself a fan.
Never say never Dylan, maybe with the ties between Gallop and Konami finally broken a lot of information about the scrapped stuff of all the ygos is going to see the light eventually. I think that blog is just the beginning.

Well, this isn’t surprising, tbh. I thought Arc V was gonna have something of a Madoka Magica-like ending, ngl....it even have similar nature of revelations and setups. Of course Konami won’t let the writers go anywhere that dark, unfortunately.
I was hoping arc V was gonna have one more season, Each of the Yu's going into the dimensions to find their dimensional girls and clean up the remaning plotholes
I rewatched the first episode after VRAINS ended and it is pretty clear even from then they were setting up AI to be the final antagonist, they establish he was watching Yusaku before he was in the duel disk but he lies and acts like he doesn’t know who Yusaku is when he is captured, which Yusaku only realizes in the very last duel.
In science fiction, people never really die. After making playmaker a hero, It would have broken so many hearts to see that he was in fact an idiot responsible for humanity destruction. I don't think that it matches with the public expectations.
Yeah, this kids life already sucked hard enough imo. He just wanted to be loved and supported and then he is the idiot because (likely) his only family (or family that cared) has exactly as much luck as him in life and turns out to be responsible for the extinction of humanity. The outcome was still a pretty sad one for lonely fuck Yusaku and they didn't even contact him smhw. I mean, the last part was hopeful, but still... urgh. The ending as it was, was a fair 50/50 chance and Ai couldn't decide and wanted to protect Yusaku, which is why the duel happened.
Tbh, I still think VRAINS ending is probably the saddest out of all the YGO series. Like if you think about it, almost all the YGO shows have these really bittersweet endings, but you're right that they do have a much more happier vibe to them.
Depends on 1 factor - Would they have done everything in the same way and thus - Ai and Yusaku die alongside eachother at the end when Yusaku loses (as Ai would die, no matter the outcome - and split his will into multiple copies - and they wipe out humanity) or would they write it completely differently, as in, Ai sees how Yusaku gets shot and the duel maybe wouldn't even have happened or out of a completely different reason, where Ai agreees that they will find a solution, but they don't, so that Ai lives and Yusaku died?
Schimmli's Quarterlife Crisis good point, i think it would’ve been the first one and maybe, one of the ai clones could’ve been a mc or protag and maybe later in that hypothetical show, a plot twist would’ve been he’s an ai clone.
That would have been f'ed up. That would have been the saddest ending in a Yugioh series. I can't even imagine a Yugioh series ending where the heros don't live happily. (Also I knew the true message of VRAINS was to never trust A.I.)
I like the ending we got, I just hope we had more world building scenes with Yusaku and Aoi and more backstory about Yusaku. I also wouldn't mind seeing Yusaku merge with Ai in the end similar to Judai merging with Yubel instead of killing Ai off.
i am sad ai and yusaku never had a "super mode" like astral and yuma. i mean, imagine if yusaku had worn ai like a venom suit during their final duel against Go frankenstein to exploit the "second skill" loophole bit and boot used. or something like that happened too against bowman.that bowman's attacks were being so bad ai surrounded himself around yusaku as a "healing suit" to avoid his data being torn into shreds. it would have been cool. even if temporally only and yeah, agreed about the yusaku and aoi stuff. at least i don't know, when she partenered with aqua, let her leanr of yusaku's secret identity. he was already involved heavily in that case with the ignis, why keep it a secret from her? also, we could have gotten more scenes with aqua, ai, and flame interacting like the old friends we were told they were, so their deaths could have hurt more
@@ianr.navahuber2195 they handled the scene where Yusaku told Aoi he was Playmaker so badly. I was hoping to see their reaction when Yusaku tells them that and how would Aoi treat Yusaku in the school after that. Maybe have Yusaku and Aoi get really close in school and Naoki freaks out.

If that was the original ending then wow that’s crazy. I always felt Vrains needed a lot more real world scenes and that things were too serious. But the fact they were going to go that far is crazy.
Whoo, this is a massive mind-blower. Now I imagine if this was canon and for those who wanted to see the former leads crossover-its gonna feel awkward knowing Yusaku isn't in it because he's dead! I think much like what was said in this video had Vrains presented more a splice-of-life episodes with Homura, Yusaku, Aoi, Kusanagi and maybe Onizuka in the real world, then this ending would've packed an emotional punch as it would be last we seen these characters. Maybe we might've seen them embracing one another in the final shot of what's left of Vrains.
it would ahve been nice to have aoi, yusaku, takeru interact especially before the mirror VRAINS arc. that there was a period of time before lightning revealed their plans, and the nagi gang actully tells the zaizen siblings plus ghost girl their secret (i mean they are all ready in this together why not trust them?). this leads to some bonding moments, especially if they let the ignis interact with each other more before you kill them minus Ai
I agree with you on that. The characters could've really benefited from sharing more screentime with one another. I could see Aoi recognizing their troubled pasts, Yusaku being able to enjoy their presence beyond being allies to him and pretty much Homura actually out there, trying to back into the world.

I wish humanity getting erase is the ending I want, not to be cruel or anything. That ending would be unpredictably and change the yu-gi-oh franchises.
Personally I would've loved to see this ending just so Vrains would be remembered as "the only Yu-gi-oh show to kill off its protagonist". Also Vrains would've been the darkest yu-gi-oh series.
It would've been cool if we could've seen the struggle of A.I.s versus humanity normally, watched Yusaku die, and then had it revealed it was all just a simulation, and then have everything play out the same way as in canon, but from Ai's perspective. Sorta like the Fujiwara vs Fubuki duel, except hopefully less clunky.
@@YugiohEverything Symbolism maybe, at the very beginning of the 1st opening various color birds also appear making reference that there would be 6 Ignis according to the main 6 elemental attributes in the TCG. Maybe it was just a transition to tone down the rythm of the opening and then proceed to the actual episode.
I also think it is symbolism, I've seen somebody who said in mythology this type of bird is likely a dove and it stands for hope. According to another person, the ignis represented a hope the kids had, as the dove has all the ignis colours it represents the ignis. You should really check out this theory, it was a long and interesting read and it makes a lot of sense if you think about it! I will try to find the link. It was somewhere on reddit. According to this the ignis are not the kids before the incident, but have attributes the kids couldn't find in themselves and are more the hope or a wish they had but couldn't reach on their own.
The one duel that I'm super disappointed we didn't get to see and what I would've thought made this series one of the strongest incarnations of yugioh is AI vs Revolver. I just imagine all the build up in terms of emotion and how intense the duel would actually be. Especially when it all leads to Revolvers defeat, I feel like there would've been a more emotional connection with those two characters there. Even more so than when Revolver "lost" to lightning and referred to AI by his name instead of the dark ignis. This would also improve Revolvers character, because in his last moments he would probably think back to his father and either will feel remorse for not being able to carry out what his father wanted or he'd feel relief at the realization that he can't do everything on his own. While people can argue that Revolver had the knight of Hanoi, they were practically disposable at any time. The only real time that they were useful was in a non duel situation where they were the ones trying to hack into Bohman's/neuron link data. I feel like this would also be truly sad for AI since he would probably feel awful for defeating a potential friend. All the while making the whole giving borreload furious dragon to Yusaku scene even more emotional. Call it cheesy if you want, but I really feel like this is the route that they should've taken with most of the last few duels. Like aside from obtaining the key cards he needed, AI's "revenge duels" against Go and the Queen really didn't matter. Normally in a situation like this, you would expect the character to probably feel at least some sort of satisfaction or closure after getting there "vengeance, even if you still didnt feel that great. The only other series I would've expected the whole gaining vengeance and not feeling better about it thing is Naruto honestly.
Man VRains was so interesting! Really wished it wasn't so short. I would've liked to see more character development, especially from Yusaku, what with the ending of Vrains leaving us hanging.
I figured they'd end VRAINS with a final confrontation duel arc with SOL Tech top executives since they are the only loose end to truly end all the suffering that originated from the Lost Incident to the present with Knights of Hanoi & Humanity vs AI War. SOL's King (x3), Bishop, Knight, Rook (and maybe a revived Queen) VS Playmaker, Ai, Revolver, Soulburner, Blue Maiden, & Onizuka
Yugioh Vrains ending was Yusaku dead from the tanks military from the episode it does surprise me with the ending because it just ends different but the truth is the ending should be quiet different in reality.
Rather than "worldbuilding", I think what the staffer is hinting at is the show needed some humanity. It needed moments where characters talked about something other than the main plot, where characters just hung out and interacted with one another like normal people. Instead of what we got, which was characters robotically moving from main plot point to main plot point, like they were marking off a checklist of things they needed to do to get the show over with.
Man makes me wonder if this show (haven't fully watched it just watched some clips from UA-cam) did have the bad ending would the have done a movie with Yuma and Yuya showing up to save Yusaku's era or world in the past.
@@gerdahuhn-muller6992 Hell off topic GX has 1 specific plot point that isn't answered the Light of Destruction (Yeah Judai defeated it in the second season), but I feel Yubel implied it will always come back and I feel Judai just went away with Yubel to heal her from the lights influence. So we should have a second series of GX focusing on the final battle between Judai and the Light with the light using the Lightsworn archetype being the first to introduce Synchro Summoning in Judai's era therefore you make the bridge between GX and 5Ds explaining where Synchros originally came from In the process this has more impact and expands the lore of the Meklord Genocide since the Light wanted to destroy mankind and with Synchros coming from it, it achieved its goals in Zones adverted future through the wickedness in human hearts

That makes me wonder if the yusaku is an AI in a humans body part was a scraped storyline too. It would have been cool to see in retrospect and if AI was meant to be a villain he could have done it but that's just my thought.

I'd really like a video explaining what this arc really is, we have that for every Arc in Yu-Gi-Oh so far except this one, I haven't seen this one cuz I stopped watching around Zexal and I know there's other people exactly like me, And channels like this one helped me understand arc V a lot , it's just weird that no one has really sit down and try to talk about the story as a the whole
With that information the show would have likely ended in a similar fashion with Yusaku dying in Ai's arms like how Ai died in his arms in ep 120, essentially the roles being flipped
I think it would be interesting to see a serious Yugioh series end with the main characters failing or dying like Gundam IBO. I wish staffers who worked on 5D's would share some behind the scenes info.

I think it would’ve been cool, if they did a combination of both endings. Let’s say that Ai’a plan was to fuse his AI’s with human conscious’s semi destroying humanity by making AI human hybrids. That would’ve been very interesting IMO.
I will be honest I am disappointed on how Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains ended. Season 3 of Vrains was rushed which it truly shouldn't. I truly believe they should of continue the storyline, so that we could of gotten a better ending than what we truly have gotten. The ending of Vrain was left on a cliffhanger where there were many questions not answers or scenes that occur that were left unsaid. I really would like to see a more emotional and dramatic ending than what we got.
So....... they went from kaing Ai a genocidal suicidal to just suicidal...... Wow. VRAINS was really dark to its core if even the toned down happier version is still dark and sad
Came back for VRAINS By the way Ai being victorious and destroying humanity could have been very believable, because everyone forgot the ULTIMATE hint during the last Duel: Ai had 100 LP while Yuusaku was on top with 450 LP. We have all known for 20+ years what happens when someone drops to 100 LP, right? Even Kensho Ono, Yuya's VA for Arc-V joked a lot about it during script Duels on-stage.
I think that they should continue vrains for 10-20 or maybe 25 episodes so they can answer to unanswered questions like where Playmaker going to in season 3 ending episode. If Ai is alive. More story of how lightning became Jin’s partner. I would like Miyu Vs Blue Maiden and Playmaker Vs revolver just like in 5Ds how Yusei got his Stardust Dragon back from jack. And Who was windy‘ Partner.
I'm just disappointed that Ai fusing with Yusaku went nowhere. It was just bait for the next episode to be watched but I think that would have been interesting for Yusaku as a character and that could have lead to Revolver vs Yusaku/Ai
Honestly Vrains had so much more potential and could've gone on. Bcs that last arc really reminded me of Aporia/Z-ONE arc from 5d's which was one of the best yugioh arcs out there. And they could've made similar to 5d's where the humans do get killed of or disappear and then Playmaker saves them but then AIs disappear. idk they could've done more.
8:06 imagine if this characters were more relevant but then later got replaced by the main cast like takeru. or even revolver or spectre going to school more to keep tabs on the Playmaker gang than going to learn anything
I am not suprised that they would move away from an ending like this. Think about it. How often do you see the villian get the final victory in any series, anime or whatever? It seems that in the end the heros always prevail. People like the hero to win and to save the day. Any time a villain would come out on top like this would be massively polarized by the fans. I don't know how many writers would be willing to take such a risk.
i am sad VRAINS at no point thought about the classic "digital world merged with the real world" trope. or "digital beings become real" like TRON or Digimon or Code Lyoko hs used. it would ahve been the logical step from ARC-V's solid holograms to, no actual genuine real monsters made out of data independent from duel disks.
Well, the closest we got to that was Bohman using the Neuron Link to essentially make himself a VRAINS God that even Playmaker couldn't solo anymore (this is evident with the fact that the KoH and SOL Tech's elites had to team up to destroy the Neuron Link and STILL almost failed).
Well I’m glad this didn’t happen! Though I wish they had gone into more details about the simulations and shown exactly which actions directly led to these events. The way I see it, the best way to prevent the end of humanity in the war of A.I. VS Humans is to remove the idiots who thought it would be a good idea to fight first instead of trying to peaceful route first (to me, it’s Queen and the Kings because they care more about money than lives and if the AI won’t obey them then they should all be deleted which leads to war because the AI don’t want to die)! Also, any idea why we got OCG Structure Deck instead of a VRAINS manga? There’s so many different ways they could’ve had this story in the manga, like Yusaku being ex-Hanoi, Yusaku actually facing off against the executives of Soltech and so much more! That and it gives Konami another chance to do Firewall Dragon right and chances to bring in a link 7 and/or 8 link monster as well as Cyberse Pendulum monsters, more extra deck options for Trickstars, Marincess, G-Golem, Stormridership, Armos Legio, Hydradrive, Appliancers and Goukis, Xyz for Dinowrestlers, Synchros for Salamangreats, link 1-6 Code Talkers, more Code Breakers, no Naoki, the list goes on! I’ve been trying to think how they would redo Decode and Firewall for a manga version and not getting far. Anyone got any ideas, both for redone aces and for a manga plot?
Had the ending not been rushed, I'd have liked to see all the Ignises get revived and given human bodies; the chess pieces/SOL Tech given a proper conclusion; and characters besides Playmaker get to duel more (Aoi, Spectre, Emma). Sadly this show went the way of 5Ds with abandoned plotlines (I'll forever be salty that Aki's Arcadia plotline was scrapped).
As his story competency with Zexal and the Arc-V manga proves, just like a plot thread where a woman actually matters, Yoshida should NOT be brought in to handle a story once it's gotten going. ...oh wait, he was the composer for Vrains since the beginning, wasn't he...okay let's just thank him for Zexal and tell him to GTFO already; ENOUGH OF THIS.
Think I would love Yugioh Sevens. Dylan says it’s funny in some parts and I think fans need that humor. People love funny shows so I think Sevens is going to go far. Think fans will love this series
I bet you love the humor. The duels are fun not as confusing. They storyline is great and to the point!! With Gallup they left us hanging every series I found. Couldn’t watch 5Ds it was boring. Actually I found even the Original series with Yugi fit bit much dueling. 2-3 episodes of it That’s a bit much. I will admit the characters were good I loom up Yusei Fudo he looks like a great character all of them do look and sound amazing. I’ve seen clips and I got that vibe of a great friend that will stick by you no matter what. Yusei or Yūya is someone I can see myself hanging out with daily. Have friends already like them Joe, Annabelle, Carrie, and Eric. Have 2 best friends only one now due to him calling me and saying I said to someone that his mother is abusing him. I felt hurt because I didn’t recall saying that. Trust I’ve said it before that if I thought in anyway his mother was mean to him he’d let me knit I would know that. Have 2 friends that told me they’re parents are really nasty people do I know if any of my friends were being hurt they’d let me know. For sure!!! But he’s the sad think Stephen hasn’t hit much friends cause he’s shy and doesn’t do well in crowds like if he joined a sport he’d say these people are being mean to me cause that’s his way of saying “ I don’t like being with a bunch of people. So I actually feel sad for him Plus I put my heart into his our friendship I felt was real and strong. Just he didn’t want me to call him anymore!!! Which is ok I’m fine with that but I felt like, why couldn’t you just say “Leigh I don’t think the friendship is working out you call when I’m busy abs I dislike that” if he said that yes it would have hurt big time but at least it’s better then feeling betrayed but someone I did soooo much for over the years. But I have other people in my life that mean the entire world to be if they don’t like what I’m doing they’d tell me up front. Never would they say “ oh Leigh stop bullying this guy that’s not right” when I really wasn’t!!! That’s not them True friends don’t make accusations like Stephen did!!! Trust me I was treating him like a brother that’s what he was to me, been best friends for years but now I have said “good bye I’ll give my friends a happier Christmas this year. This I think could've been really interesting as an ending for the show. Very grim, very sad, and I kind of like the sound of it. I think what could've been interesting if, like, all of humanity is wiped out except for Yusaku. He's left all alone in the world, possibly thanks to Ai sparing him, making things all the more dark. I do love the ending we have, though. I'm also in agreement that more slice of life could've been nice.
Ngl, an Evangelion-esque ending to VRAINS would have made this show too much for younger kids to handle. If Gallop actually did that with this show, Konami would definitely NOT consider doing a 4K dub of the last season. As it was, the Elfen Lied-like ending we got was pretty heartbreaking. But to think that Gallop was actually gonna turn it up to 100 originally is just scary.
if Ai had suceeded with his plan,he would have ended Humanity, that however would have Proofen that Revolver was Right all Along about the Ignis being Humanitys End, as the Simulation Done by Lightning wich Revolvers father knew about,did already reveal that there is a Scenario where Only Ai remains but both all Ignis and Humanity is endend, wich Lightning tauntet Ai with at the end of the simulation, wich Ai found out by doing the simulation himself, so in a Technical sense the "End of the world" scenario provided by the staff is Actualy Canon,as Ai Himself lived thourgh it to the very end,as a Simulation as Ai explained is like living a real life up to that point. just without actualy being phyisicaly there, so its kinda like seeing into the future for lack of a better word. By Giving Yusaku a choice to stop him he did the Only right thing,because his owen choice lead to doom, But Lightnings calculation diden t take into account what Yusaku would choose?,what a Human would do?, thats why Ai gave yusaku the choice to kill him effectivly allowing for a unpredictibale future to take place, he lost the duel died,but somehow at the end of vrains final episode Ai is still alive, and wonders about it himself, so not only did Humanity advance far beyond the limits predictet by both Lightning and the Professor,but it was thanks to Ais owen actions that this future took Place,and Ai himself did not Die either, Effectivly creating the Best outcome for everyone Proofing Ligthning and Revolver Wrong that it is either Humanity survives or Ignis survives. Yusaku also went on a Journey into the Multiverse, setting the stage for what could Possible be a Another Bound Beyond times Movie. So both from a marketing and Story Perspective this Ending made Alot of sense.
That ending would have been dramatic but honestly, the ending we got was amazing and certainly what I’d have rather had. The ideas this scrapped ending would have brought still came up but it’s in a much more palatable form while still hitting those bittersweet notes with simulations and the death of Ai.
It’s kinda ironic and I think it would have worked because remember in 5ds there was heavy foreshadowing about duel monsters evolving and eventually destroying the world it would have been a nice payoff

I'm glad it at least in mentioned, I for one like more dark themes in story I'm watching, not that I not enjoy more relaxing all cool moments or a more happy story, but, it is a kids show at the end of the day and some kids nowadays could be scared.

Yeah, that would be very tragic if both Yusaku and Ai died. Both the protagonist and the deuteragonist dead. I don't want to imagine it. I'm glad Ai was selfless enough to not want to bring the fall of humanity, but most importantly, not let the person he holds dearest die in front of him.
I completely agree. It would've been interesting but really dark and tragic had it went down that route. I really like and appreciate the ending we got. Ai is one of my favorite characters in VRAINS. I'm happy Ai was selfless enough to not allow that future to happen. Protecting and Saving humanity and especially Yusaku, the one he loves and cherishes most.

While I really like this scrapped ending, the one that we got hit such an emotional note with Ai that I honestly wouldn't trade it in for anything. The meaning behind Ais name is still one of the best lines in yugioh and changes your perspective on how Yusaku viewed his partner even from the very start of the series
7:30 i would have loved those moments. Non-stae duels especially if we had moments like this:
- Yusaku doing every misplay he could think of with his bad deck, yet still beating Naoki.
- Aoi asking Takeru for a friendly rematch (once she was partnered with aqua and he with flame). this also gives the bonus of letting the Ignis interact with each other so their deaths hurt more.
-Miyu appearing in the duel club and maybe having an In real life duel with aoi. even if she only appeared as a quick scene have her play aoi's trickstars
AND a drama non-stakes duel: have revovler and playmaker have a duel. revovler wanting to steel up yusaku's determination to fight ai. maybe even beating him and warning him that he shouldn't hesitate at all when he has to go against ai.
These are some really nice ideas.

Season 0 is really not that dark. There are already plenty of things in Yu-Gi-Oh that are darker than season 0, like season 3 of GX. Now if we're talking about the manga that's a different story.

Honestly while the darker ending might have been interesting I still probably would prefer how the show ended proper, if only because the way the finale played out it ended up being very bittersweet and felt very unique. The fact that Playmaker won at the cost of basically killing his closest friend and one of the few positive parts to have come out of the Lost Incident is already so painfully tragic. While like a lot of people I hoped Playmaker would have gotten a proper loss or two during the series the fact that he does not come out better on the other end (even Yuya in Arc V seemed fairly confident and happy) adds a unique flavor to the end of Vrains.
So 5D's, just with a darker twist? Yusaku would become Vrains equivalent of Z-one.

VRAINS' writing could have been better, yes. I honestly wanted more from the series than we got, but I'm past that now, because I spent 6 months working through my disappointment over the ending and VRAINS' other flaws. I loved VRAINS' characters more than I've loved a cast in a long time and I've arrived at a place of acceptance. The series was still enjoyable for me and I fully accept the series as what we got. What got to me was the cliffhanger ending and then the announcement of Sevens. I've even moved on from this too.
VRAINS isn't perfect, but I'm glad I can see its flaws and still call myself a fan.

I rewatched the first episode after VRAINS ended and it is pretty clear even from then they were setting up AI to be the final antagonist, they establish he was watching Yusaku before he was in the duel disk but he lies and acts like he doesn’t know who Yusaku is when he is captured, which Yusaku only realizes in the very last duel.

After making playmaker a hero, It would have broken so many hearts to see that he was in fact an idiot responsible for humanity destruction. I don't think that it matches with the public expectations.
Yeah, this kids life already sucked hard enough imo. He just wanted to be loved and supported and then he is the idiot because (likely) his only family (or family that cared) has exactly as much luck as him in life and turns out to be responsible for the extinction of humanity. The outcome was still a pretty sad one for lonely fuck Yusaku and they didn't even contact him smhw. I mean, the last part was hopeful, but still... urgh. The ending as it was, was a fair 50/50 chance and Ai couldn't decide and wanted to protect Yusaku, which is why the duel happened.
Tbh, I still think VRAINS ending is probably the saddest out of all the YGO series. Like if you think about it, almost all the YGO shows have these really bittersweet endings, but you're right that they do have a much more happier vibe to them.

Depends on 1 factor - Would they have done everything in the same way and thus - Ai and Yusaku die alongside eachother at the end when Yusaku loses (as Ai would die, no matter the outcome - and split his will into multiple copies - and they wipe out humanity) or would they write it completely differently, as in, Ai sees how Yusaku gets shot and the duel maybe wouldn't even have happened or out of a completely different reason, where Ai agreees that they will find a solution, but they don't, so that Ai lives and Yusaku died?

I like the ending we got, I just hope we had more world building scenes with Yusaku and Aoi and more backstory about Yusaku. I also wouldn't mind seeing Yusaku merge with Ai in the end similar to Judai merging with Yubel instead of killing Ai off.
i am sad ai and yusaku never had a "super mode" like astral and yuma. i mean, imagine if yusaku had worn ai like a venom suit during their final duel against Go frankenstein to exploit the "second skill" loophole bit and boot used.

I think much like what was said in this video had Vrains presented more a splice-of-life episodes with Homura, Yusaku, Aoi, Kusanagi and maybe Onizuka in the real world, then this ending would've packed an emotional punch as it would be last we seen these characters. Maybe we might've seen them embracing one another in the final shot of what's left of Vrains.
it would ahve been nice to have aoi, yusaku, takeru interact especially before the mirror VRAINS arc. that there was a period of time before lightning revealed their plans, and the nagi gang actully tells the zaizen siblings plus ghost girl their secret (i mean they are all ready in this together why not trust them?).
this leads to some bonding moments, especially if they let the ignis interact with each other more before you kill them minus Ai

The characters could've really benefited from sharing more screentime with one another. I could see Aoi recognizing their troubled pasts, Yusaku being able to enjoy their presence beyond being allies to him and pretty much Homura actually out there, trying to back into the world.

It would've been cool if we could've seen the struggle of A.I.s versus humanity normally, watched Yusaku die, and then had it revealed it was all just a simulation, and then have everything play out the same way as in canon, but from Ai's perspective.
Sorta like the Fujiwara vs Fubuki duel, except hopefully less clunky.

@@YugiohEverything Symbolism maybe, at the very beginning of the 1st opening various color birds also appear making reference that there would be 6 Ignis according to the main 6 elemental attributes in the TCG.
Maybe it was just a transition to tone down the rythm of the opening and then proceed to the actual episode.

I also think it is symbolism, I've seen somebody who said in mythology this type of bird is likely a dove and it stands for hope.
According to another person, the ignis represented a hope the kids had, as the dove has all the ignis colours it represents the ignis.
You should really check out this theory, it was a long and interesting read and it makes a lot of sense if you think about it!
I will try to find the link. It was somewhere on reddit. According to this the ignis are not the kids before the incident, but have attributes the kids couldn't find in themselves and are more the hope or a wish they had but couldn't reach on their own.

The one duel that I'm super disappointed we didn't get to see and what I would've thought made this series one of the strongest incarnations of yugioh is AI vs Revolver. I just imagine all the build up in terms of emotion and how intense the duel would actually be. Especially when it all leads to Revolvers defeat, I feel like there would've been a more emotional connection with those two characters there. Even more so than when Revolver "lost" to lightning and referred to AI by his name instead of the dark ignis. This would also improve Revolvers character, because in his last moments he would probably think back to his father and either will feel remorse for not being able to carry out what his father wanted or he'd feel relief at the realization that he can't do everything on his own. While people can argue that Revolver had the knight of Hanoi, they were practically disposable at any time. The only real time that they were useful was in a non duel situation where they were the ones trying to hack into Bohman's/neuron link data. I feel like this would also be truly sad for AI since he would probably feel awful for defeating a potential friend. All the while making the whole giving borreload furious dragon to Yusaku scene even more emotional. Call it cheesy if you want, but I really feel like this is the route that they should've taken with most of the last few duels. Like aside from obtaining the key cards he needed, AI's "revenge duels" against Go and the Queen really didn't matter. Normally in a situation like this, you would expect the character to probably feel at least some sort of satisfaction or closure after getting there "vengeance, even if you still didnt feel that great. The only other series I would've expected the whole gaining vengeance and not feeling better about it thing is Naruto honestly.

I was hoping a zexal 2 situation would happen, and it would pick up a bit after the vrains ending we got.
Yugioh Vrains ending was Yusaku dead from the tanks military from the episode it does surprise me with the ending because it just ends different but the truth is the ending should be quiet different in reality.
Rather than "worldbuilding", I think what the staffer is hinting at is the show needed some humanity. It needed moments where characters talked about something other than the main plot, where characters just hung out and interacted with one another like normal people. Instead of what we got, which was characters robotically moving from main plot point to main plot point, like they were marking off a checklist of things they needed to do to get the show over with.
Man makes me wonder if this show (haven't fully watched it just watched some clips from UA-cam) did have the bad ending would the have done a movie with Yuma and Yuya showing up to save Yusaku's era or world in the past.

In the process this has more impact and expands the lore of the Meklord Genocide since the Light wanted to destroy mankind and with Synchros coming from it, it achieved its goals in Zones adverted future through the wickedness in human hearts

I'd really like a video explaining what this arc really is, we have that for every Arc in Yu-Gi-Oh so far except this one, I haven't seen this one cuz I stopped watching around Zexal and I know there's other people exactly like me, And channels like this one helped me understand arc V a lot , it's just weird that no one has really sit down and try to talk about the story as a the whole
With that information the show would have likely ended in a similar fashion with Yusaku dying in Ai's arms like how Ai died in his arms in ep 120, essentially the roles being flipped

I think it would’ve been cool, if they did a combination of both endings. Let’s say that Ai’a plan was to fuse his AI’s with human conscious’s semi destroying humanity by making AI human hybrids. That would’ve been very interesting IMO.
I will be honest I am disappointed on how Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains ended. Season 3 of Vrains was rushed which it truly shouldn't. I truly believe they should of continue the storyline, so that we could of gotten a better ending than what we truly have gotten. The ending of Vrain was left on a cliffhanger where there were many questions not answers or scenes that occur that were left unsaid. I really would like to see a more emotional and dramatic ending than what we got.

By the way Ai being victorious and destroying humanity could have been very believable, because everyone forgot the ULTIMATE hint during the last Duel: Ai had 100 LP while Yuusaku was on top with 450 LP. We have all known for 20+ years what happens when someone drops to 100 LP, right? Even Kensho Ono, Yuya's VA for Arc-V joked a lot about it during script Duels on-stage.
I think that they should continue vrains for 10-20 or maybe 25 episodes so they can answer to unanswered questions like where Playmaker going to in season 3 ending episode. If Ai is alive. More story of how lightning became Jin’s partner. I would like Miyu Vs Blue Maiden and Playmaker Vs revolver just like in 5Ds how Yusei got his Stardust Dragon back from jack. And Who was windy‘ Partner.
I'm just disappointed that Ai fusing with Yusaku went nowhere. It was just bait for the next episode to be watched but I think that would have been interesting for Yusaku as a character and that could have lead to Revolver vs Yusaku/Ai
Honestly Vrains had so much more potential and could've gone on. Bcs that last arc really reminded me of Aporia/Z-ONE arc from 5d's which was one of the best yugioh arcs out there. And they could've made similar to 5d's where the humans do get killed of or disappear and then Playmaker saves them but then AIs disappear. idk they could've done more.

I am not suprised that they would move away from an ending like this. Think about it. How often do you see the villian get the final victory in any series, anime or whatever? It seems that in the end the heros always prevail. People like the hero to win and to save the day. Any time a villain would come out on top like this would be massively polarized by the fans. I don't know how many writers would be willing to take such a risk.

i am sad VRAINS at no point thought about the classic "digital world merged with the real world" trope. or "digital beings become real" like TRON or Digimon or Code Lyoko hs used. it would ahve been the logical step from ARC-V's solid holograms to, no actual genuine real monsters made out of data independent from duel disks.
Well, the closest we got to that was Bohman using the Neuron Link to essentially make himself a VRAINS God that even Playmaker couldn't solo anymore (this is evident with the fact that the KoH and SOL Tech's elites had to team up to destroy the Neuron Link and STILL almost failed).

Well I’m glad this didn’t happen! Though I wish they had gone into more details about the simulations and shown exactly which actions directly led to these events. The way I see it, the best way to prevent the end of humanity in the war of A.I. VS Humans is to remove the idiots who thought it would be a good idea to fight first instead of trying to peaceful route first (to me, it’s Queen and the Kings because they care more about money than lives and if the AI won’t obey them then they should all be deleted which leads to war because the AI don’t want to die)!
Also, any idea why we got OCG Structure Deck instead of a VRAINS manga? There’s so many different ways they could’ve had this story in the manga, like Yusaku being ex-Hanoi, Yusaku actually facing off against the executives of Soltech and so much more! That and it gives Konami another chance to do Firewall Dragon right and chances to bring in a link 7 and/or 8 link monster as well as Cyberse Pendulum monsters, more extra deck options for Trickstars, Marincess, G-Golem, Stormridership, Armos Legio, Hydradrive, Appliancers and Goukis, Xyz for Dinowrestlers, Synchros for Salamangreats, link 1-6 Code Talkers, more Code Breakers, no Naoki, the list goes on! I’ve been trying to think how they would redo Decode and Firewall for a manga version and not getting far. Anyone got any ideas, both for redone aces and for a manga plot?
Had the ending not been rushed, I'd have liked to see all the Ignises get revived and given human bodies; the chess pieces/SOL Tech given a proper conclusion; and characters besides Playmaker get to duel more (Aoi, Spectre, Emma). Sadly this show went the way of 5Ds with abandoned plotlines (I'll forever be salty that Aki's Arcadia plotline was scrapped).
As his story competency with Zexal and the Arc-V manga proves, just like a plot thread where a woman actually matters, Yoshida should NOT be brought in to handle a story once it's gotten going. ...oh wait, he was the composer for Vrains since the beginning, wasn't he...okay let's just thank him for Zexal and tell him to GTFO already; ENOUGH OF THIS.
Think I would love Yugioh Sevens. Dylan says it’s funny in some parts and I think fans need that humor. People love funny shows so I think Sevens is going to go far. Think fans will love this series
I bet you love the humor. The duels are fun not as confusing. They storyline is great and to the point!! With Gallup they left us hanging every series I found. Couldn’t watch 5Ds it was boring. Actually I found even the Original series with Yugi fit bit much dueling. 2-3 episodes of it
That’s a bit much. I will admit the characters were good I loom up Yusei Fudo he looks like a great character all of them do look and sound amazing. I’ve seen clips and I got that vibe of a great friend that will stick by you no matter what. Yusei or Yūya is someone I can see myself hanging out with daily. Have friends already like them Joe, Annabelle, Carrie, and Eric. Have 2 best friends only one now due to him calling me and saying I said to someone that his mother is abusing him. I felt hurt because I didn’t recall saying that. Trust I’ve said it before that if I thought in anyway his mother was mean to him he’d let me knit I would know that. Have 2 friends that told me they’re parents are really nasty people do I know if any of my friends were being hurt they’d let me know. For sure!!! But he’s the sad think Stephen hasn’t hit much friends cause he’s shy and doesn’t do well in crowds like if he joined a sport he’d say these people are being mean to me cause that’s his way of saying “ I don’t like being with a bunch of people. So I actually feel sad for him

This I think could've been really interesting as an ending for the show. Very grim, very sad, and I kind of like the sound of it. I think what could've been interesting if, like, all of humanity is wiped out except for Yusaku. He's left all alone in the world, possibly thanks to Ai sparing him, making things all the more dark. I do love the ending we have, though. I'm also in agreement that more slice of life could've been nice.
This would have set up the plot for Z-one in 5ds, A really messed up way to connect a bad end to a good end
Ngl, an Evangelion-esque ending to VRAINS would have made this show too much for younger kids to handle. If Gallop actually did that with this show, Konami would definitely NOT consider doing a 4K dub of the last season.
As it was, the Elfen Lied-like ending we got was pretty heartbreaking. But to think that Gallop was actually gonna turn it up to 100 originally is just scary.

if Ai had suceeded with his plan,he would have ended Humanity, that however would have Proofen that Revolver was Right all Along about the Ignis being Humanitys End, as the Simulation Done by Lightning wich Revolvers father knew about,did already reveal that there is a Scenario where Only Ai remains but both all Ignis and Humanity is endend, wich Lightning tauntet Ai with at the end of the simulation, wich Ai found out by doing the simulation himself, so in a Technical sense the "End of the world" scenario provided by the staff is Actualy Canon,as Ai Himself lived thourgh it to the very end,as a Simulation as Ai explained is like living a real life up to that point. just without actualy being phyisicaly there, so its kinda like seeing into the future for lack of a better word. By Giving Yusaku a choice to stop him he did the Only right thing,because his owen choice lead to doom, But Lightnings calculation diden t take into account what Yusaku would choose?,what a Human would do?, thats why Ai gave yusaku the choice to kill him effectivly allowing for a unpredictibale future to take place, he lost the duel died,but somehow at the end of vrains final episode Ai is still alive, and wonders about it himself, so not only did Humanity advance far beyond the limits predictet by both Lightning and the Professor,but it was thanks to Ais owen actions that this future took Place,and Ai himself did not Die either, Effectivly creating the Best outcome for everyone Proofing Ligthning and Revolver Wrong that it is either Humanity survives or Ignis survives. Yusaku also went on a Journey into the Multiverse, setting the stage for what could Possible be a Another Bound Beyond times Movie. So both from a marketing and Story Perspective this Ending made Alot of sense.
That ending would have been dramatic but honestly, the ending we got was amazing and certainly what I’d have rather had. The ideas this scrapped ending would have brought still came up but it’s in a much more palatable form while still hitting those bittersweet notes with simulations and the death of Ai.
It’s kinda ironic and I think it would have worked because remember in 5ds there was heavy foreshadowing about duel monsters evolving and eventually destroying the world it would have been a nice payoff

I'm glad it at least in mentioned, I for one like more dark themes in story I'm watching, not that I not enjoy more relaxing all cool moments or a more happy story, but, it is a kids show at the end of the day and some kids nowadays could be scared.

Im confused. The 5ds movie didn't change anything after. It was already happen during the events of 5ds. Like a time loop where certain have to happen in order to continue.
I think it would be a lot better if all humans died, but don't get me wrong, I mean we've been building that for 100 episodes: hanoi was spamming how they will end the humanity's future, and during 120 episodes I connected to the character (yusaku, ai) and if they got shot in the end, and all those sht with tanks I would honestly be really touched

Yeah, that would be very tragic if both Yusaku and Ai died. Both the protagonist and the deuteragonist dead. I don't want to imagine it. I'm glad Ai was selfless enough to not want to bring the fall of humanity, but most importantly, not let the person he holds dearest die in front of him.
I completely agree. It would've been interesting but really dark and tragic had it went down that route. I really like and appreciate the ending we got. Ai is one of my favorite characters in VRAINS. I'm happy Ai was selfless enough to not allow that future to happen. Protecting and Saving humanity and especially Yusaku, the one he loves and cherishes most.
