Die hard lifelong Packers fan, but #3 is a bit high....right now. That being said, we certainly have the team to win it all. But until we get a bit healthier & cut down on penalties a bit more, I'd probably have us at 5ish
As a Packer fan I disagree with your assessment. The Packers have gotten the press they deserve - a lot of good press but not over the top fan boy stuff. The Packers have a middling defense that consistently lets us down with the top contenders and QBs - Vikings, Lions, Eagles. Love has NOT outperformed his playmaking from the latter half of 2023. He’s slowly inching up to that level in the last few weeks. I expected him to be better at this point in 2024 from the vantage point of the end of last season. Also Love is not allowed to pass as much this season due to MLF’s run centric mind with Josh Jacobs. I think this will be our undoing in the post season against the best teams who know MLF’s strategy inside and out. MLF has a major flaw - his play calling on essential 3rd downs is both conservative and consistent and therefore easily guessed. Our offense is good enough that we still easily beat middle tier teams who know what our play will be. But we lose to the best teams with this lack of creativity and surprise. Always handing it off to Jacobs on 3rd and 3 is not a good tactic as the Lions proved in their first game against us when their defense wasn’t riddled with injuries. Always going for the field goal on 4th down and 2 inside the 15 yard line is far too timid to get to the Super Bowl. I hope MLF surprises the hell out of me and our opponents in the playoff games by changing up this conservative play calling. I just don’t see it happening.
I think it’s because we don’t have a statement win. We beat the teams we’re supposed to, but are 0-4 against the teams above us in the NFC standings. The thing is 3/4 of of those games were close and if a few plays go differently I’m sure the media would be talking about the 13-1 Packers who have wins over the other 3 NFC contenders. I think people also underrate Love because people don’t want to admit that the Packers once again have a good QB. He’s 4th in the league in EPA/play and #1 in the league since the bye when he finally got healthy.
True, but they played them close most of the time. And I don’t feel bad about the last Detroit loss. We can definitely beat them if we see them again. Not saying we will for sure, but we can. Especially considering they’ve gotten more injured since then
The talent....It's not that we question if Love is good or not it's if he is Great or HoF level QB and something that only time will tell. With the weapons on offense I think it gets overlooked because The Packers use so many players and switch up who they use per game , I still do not think any are break out stars Doubs is getting there and Watson if he could catch more balls would be compared to Randy Moss , then they have another 3-4 WR's they will use and still trying to figure out who the best of them really are. It's kind of a good problem but because the WR core is so young and most have not been paid yet but makes it so they need to figure out who to keep or not when it comes time to hand out contracts. Jacobs is not getting the credit he should , Jones was and still is a great overall RB but for a few season The Packers had Dillion a big bruiser type back that just faded away , the only question with Jacobs was he going to be able to catch the ball as well as Jones and he has done a good to great job of that as well.
