What people don't seem to realise is that finding the map in that facility took the lives of so many stalkers. We see occasional corpses of stalkers in the area carrying ammo for you to scrounge. There are arrows and markers everywhere, telling us where to go. Rooms that were already search will have "Searched, no maps" written at the entrance so the next person won't spend so much time in the radioactive area. How many stalkers died leading to this? A dozen perhaps. All sacrificed their lives in hopes that the next person that comes would find the map and escape this hellhole.
And in the end their efforts were not in vain. In the end their collective efforts to assure the next person just might get the maps paid off, a new group found the maps and made it to the promised land, and they intend to bring more.
Theres a diary that you can find, idk if its the same stalker or one from another team, total of three. 5 minutes in a single archive and it takes up a monthly dose of them greens, A WHOLE MONTH FOR 5 MINUTES, a squad is up to 4 or smth. And they were even talking about the blind ones being one of the reason as to why "Several squads" went missing, that place is terrifying.
Metro exodus is a criminally underappreciated masterpiece. It is literally impossible to express the magnitude of the atmosphere that is built around its storytelling. It is the pinnacle of what I call a "psychologically heavy" game. Most games have a light almost comedic feeling about them even if their plot revolves around some really grim stuff like war and death. The Metro franchise on the other hand isn't just you playing a game it is a completely different experience. Whenever I get to play the franchise and especially exodus I get this sad and hopeless vibe bursting inside me, almost like I am a part of this broken, cold, dark and filled with misery world only to get a few glimmering moments of warmth when you talk and drink with Burbon and the traincart passenger, or when your brothers in arms and Anna await you after your lonely survival journey in the harsh outskirts of Moscow. Or when you are riding on the aurora celebrating Stepan's and Catja;s wedding. Then after all this they hit you right in the feels with this heartpumping experience of trying to escape from a literal hell only to fall short just for an inch and finally having to witness one of the most touching and amazing speeches given between a hero honoring another hero who passed away, redeeming the sacrifice that was made. I literally couldn't care less about its short length...this is what art should look like. To think that metro wasn't even nominated for 2019 GOTY just proves that not many are truly capable of appreciating the true meaning of what is beautiful in this industry, at least sekiro was indeed a beautiful game. Thank you 4A, for everything !
What's even sad is that, I replayed the main game and found out in the Autumn Chapter when I hit up the radio... there's a frequency there where you'll hear Kirill searching for his father, already (or he already is) on the verge of crying. It's heartbreaking.
I feel so bad for that stalker he gets the map from He probably went through hell, no weapons, no support , no green stuff left and thought “ Oh , I finally found the maps Then on his way out he started to feel very tired, and he needed a break and leaned against the edge of the shelf and he started to dose off He didn’t wake up again

this is honestly one of the best reasons for a faceless protagonist. it makes the player imagine more in themselves of the character they're playing as, it becomes a really emotional and efficient way to get the player immersed in the story, and truly feel what it is like playing through the character. i just finished this dlc minutes ago, the campaign ending didn't make me cry as hard as this one.

Same. When Kirill was talking about his and Miller's journey together as you are finishing the final drive, I thought for sure that you'd play as Miller.
I just realized that Miller somehow managed to restart the generators of the base, when he entered the room the lights were on, the radioactive mist was gone and he wasn't wearing his mask. There most have been some way for the base to vent or filter out the air and was probably the main reason why Miller was able to get to the end and comeback while the others couldn't.
It could also be that by the time Miller arrived the blind gorillas might not stay there anymore/had migrated to other places so it was easier for him to get to the generator and turn it on without any worry of getting chased 🤔
I honestly did not expect the emotional impact that this DLC/story would have on me. Really one of the most poignant moments in video games as a story telling medium for me.
@@dbfan199 Not exactly true, the shot was wasted, as we all know, the dark ones were there, and it was they who helped miller find artyom, had he survive, they would still be looking for a place.
@@sleepingrrandom2876 How is it not exactly true? the dark one's being involved doesn't really matter to the context of my statement. my statement was that if MIller used the shot he could possibly have survived. Wait what about hunter? I know khan said he was MIA but at the same time no body was found so could he still be out there alive? and speaking oh Khan i wonder what happened to him
Zydel oh really? Somthing I’ve always noticed after playing TDC and TTC. Is that when Artyom and Mel’nik find Kirill he’s completely hostile. Spending three months on his own he’s scared. But the one thing that snaps him out of it is Mel’nik speaking to him as a soldier. “What’s your name soldier?” It’s obvious by their dialogue that Khlebnikov brought his son up as a military boy. (Constantly calling him private and when telling him to do his chores he orders it like a commander “eat that liver, without fail”) and his father was kirills whole world. So after spending months alone in the dead city, despairing in the fact that the man he loved and idolized was dead. The thing that snapped the boy out of it was another colonel speaking to him like his father did.
Spot on. I noticed that too when Miller said soldier Kirill finally stopped resisting and answered the question with full pride though his voice quivered a tiny bit. Cant imagine how he felt the whole time being alone in that tunnel
I just got the DLC and holy hell, the atmosphere of the two colonels literally made me want to cry. Like man...the guy you play as wanted to help people, but at the same time, do the right thing to make sure that everyone (or most people) would be okay, but doing his duty and thinking he could come out with his brothers he was let down, backstabbed. All the people you are with either turn on you or are brutally killed in such a backstabbing way, gas, gunshots, lies. And then even after all of that, he goes on to try to keep his son safe, and by any means necessary. And at the very last stretch...I fell asleep...and never woke up. Then, the two colonels meet, both with the same purpose, and eventually the same outcome, passing the torch on to help prevent the past from happening, the way Miller talked to Chlebnikov`s body was just, it left us all speechless. This game has such deep connections with emotions and is very much a psychological game too. There isnt such a huge basis on war and shooting aliens or run and gunning. It paints a perfect story of trying to survive in a broken world where everything is hopeless. And man, I think im gonna cry after finishing this DLC
The last chapter and this dlc was my very highlight. I enjoyed and loved the whole game but these too chapters pushed this game in one of the best story shooters I ever played. The third time I look the end of two colonels and need to hold back my tears again... Amazing piece of art
DLC consisting of 2/3 hours of burning bugs and rioters with flamethrower. And developers still menage to put so many emotions and story to this. Farewell Colonel.
Oh my God. This is story' of his father kirril. I thought we play as Miller who protect his colonel son. And this why i cry about this scene, the reason Miller did'nt get serum shot because he don't want to lost his family artyom...😭 BLAYTIFUL 👍

There Colonel Khlebnikov who got the maps from that unidentified stalker, who probably did the same thing Khlebnikov did "I finally found the maps, but I just need a breather" but imagine there were others who found the maps, from further and further inside, only to stop to get some rest and....never waking up, making another checkpoint for the next brave soul to find them and bringing them closer to the exit. idk maybe I'm thinking too much.
I swear.. I saw a dark one at the ending when he's dead and the shutter opens before Miller walks in. I didn't see it here, but I am on my phone. It happened in a flash and just teleported around, then vanished. Happened really fast. Maybe it was just a glitch..
It's 2023 and I just bought the trilogy of this game... This game made me cry .... Damn.. the story is Oscar worthy . 2 dad's dying to save thier sons... No AAA games can touch games like this were they all depend on graphics and battle but don't tell a story where the player will get attached....
By far the best DLC ever released in a Game imo. Sams Story wasnt as good, or not as emotional as this one. Still love to play it over and over. And i loved the ending when i first played through, the room was kinda familiar, and then, the Gate opened and Miller showed up. So awesome.
Honestly this is going to sound silly as hell but despite all of its faults, the metro series is honestly the biggest comfort for me. It’s helped me get through a lot of shit and gives me something to think and care about. I genuinely don’t think I’d be alive if it wasn’t for these games (and books), so here’s my cheesy way of saying thanks to it.
Let's all hope none of us have to see the world like this. Excluding all the mutants and stuff in the story, nuclear war is a very real possibility and it would permanently change the world for the worst.
I fell in love with this series when it started with Stalker Shadow of Tchernobyl (I know its not the same story but the work of the same dev team more or less)… Metro has a special place in my heart, those games are hardly underappreciated. Story, atmosphere, weapon and character designes…a masterpiece…
paul treneary It could either be the developers mistake or a player’s personal choice. When Miller offered the railgun to Aytrom, I decided to not pick it up and use my current load out instead, it could have been that, but who knows
@@bobxie8634 Good thought. I had picked it up which is why it felt wrong for me. With all that great story it's a shame they didn't have Miller comment that there was enough bits around to make a new one. Of course ths would have to have been included in th DLC's dialogue as it probably was written after the main game was deployed; though they could have detected the characters choice in the main game and altered the DLC slightly (not unusual these days - I'm thinking Mass Effect 2)

The ending is just so sad, but it is also a relief in a way, atleast Khlebnikov managed to find the map and indirectly saved Kirill.

11:45 he is a father in the end
@@EngineEngineEngine Melnik is a nickname not a surname. So it compleatly translatable
yea but he still went to hell, if you get the bad ending, Artyome will meet him in hell.
I've never cried with a video game ending before this, more than 35 years gaming. The final OST of this DLC was the final punch for me.
Nah, he's just the toughest S O B in all of russia
Khlebnikov dealt with a lot of mutants. Most likely, Miller didn't encounter that much resistance on his way down.
If you see the easter egg
Both Miller and Artyom probably gets help from the Dark Ones
It could also be that by the time Miller arrived the blind gorillas might not stay there anymore/had migrated to other places so it was easier for him to get to the generator and turn it on without any worry of getting chased 🤔
I honestly did not expect the emotional impact that this DLC/story would have on me. Really one of the most poignant moments in video games as a story telling medium for me.
I always wonder what happened to his father. Good job baby!
Ash Was Here finally we got a dlc and now we know the sad truth
I knew he was dead when Kirill said that he didn't come back in 1 month..a sad way to go, really.
I couldnt stop my tears.. Had he taken the shot earlier, he could have survived.. heart touching n saddening at the same time
Indeed!
he could have survived... but artyom would have died.
But artyom would have died.
Artyom dies in the bad ending because his blood is too irradiated. and that's WITH both doses.
I thought you meant that IF Chlebnikov took the shot artyom would end up dead, I'm retarded.@@dbfan199

9:34 sad time ends, cry time begins.
Just finished Metro yesterday and today I finished this DLC. It made me cry again. Truly a masterpiece
That dlc was so damn beautiful and sad
not everyone in metro games have the luck of artyom rip colonel
It broke my heart that i was asleep in the wheel and he died by my side and i couldn't do anything...
@@Artyom.2033
you did it you saved anna that what the colonel want it in the first place
Wait what about hunter? I know khan said he was MIA but at the same time no body was found so could he still be out there alive? and speaking oh Khan i wonder what happened to him
@@jackwoody2382 if you get the bad ending. You will met with him at the train which only dead people rides on it. Which means, hes died.
Zydel oh really? I never knew that kinda because I got the good ending first time but honestly It would have been nice to see him in a future DLC story and maybe find out what truly happened to hunter because I know for a fact he was alive in the novel and i know the games is an adaptation of the book but honestly it would be nice to know to conclusion of what actually happened to him
Somthing I’ve always noticed after playing TDC and TTC.
The cinematography in this dlc is really great. Especially the transition between slava and miller, very smooth and satisfying
Where legends cried
RIP Khlebnikov
, you were a good comrade.
never in my life time have I ever cried because of a story, but this rule was broken today.
Oh my God. This is story' of his father kirril. I thought we play as Miller who protect his colonel son. And this why i cry about this scene, the reason Miller did'nt get serum shot because he don't want to lost his family artyom...😭
BLAYTIFUL 👍
Im so tired... 😭
Fuck those blind ones !!!! He was so close to surviving
@@XOLOVER125 But if he had, the Miller and Artyom would have died because they wouldn't have gotten the maps and it would have forced the rest of the group to carry on.

When you go on the train, at the end and listen to the radio, you can catch the conversation Khlebnikov and Cyril. Pine Pine I alder how do you hear?

Well, this dlc made the whole story of Exodus even more touching and I almost cried at the end.. well, not almost, I cried.
The thought that he died there end left his son all alone in the metro... I can only imagine how bad it would be for Kiril if the crew didn't went to Novosibirsk.
Man i teard up when Khlebnikov said he had to rest for a bit !!! Such a legend & Miller you son of bish being a hero in the end !! Metro series will forever be a big part in my life !!! Like the Golden Wind .

Best dlc so far for this game, can't wait for Sam's dlc later on
Trust me it was great
Loved the dlc. Very story driven and immersive.
this game hits deeper then a spear to the chest. and to the devs that poured their blood sweat and tears into this i say thank you...now back to the 100th play through of sams story!!!
this metro and its dlc are the most emotional game ive ever played ive played metro since the beginning and read every book.. i just hope they take the time to make a movie and actual movie.
love the game i sadly got the sad ending on the campaign it all depends on how u play out the game .. love it
It was confirmed a few months ago that Glukhovsky found a studio that he could entrust with creating a metro movie that would fit his vision for it. I believed he described it as they had similar goals.
It will be pretty hard smitri does not like unprofesionals or profesionals that have adiferent style. thats why the chose 4A in the first place
“Hold on, son.” -Miller, 2035
Some of the most excellent story telling ever. That ending, wow.
😞 now we know the truth he didn’t make it but I salute to him for finding the maps
This game have a heavly strong story, which upscale this game same to The Last of Us 1. Beautiful graphics, strong plot story, and the so normal conversation, its just like u watch the combination of war + drama + family movie, damn. Two thumbs for the creator and the dev team who make such a great game.
Ican't tell how much i love this series , and this dlc
Easily one of if not the best stories in a game I've ever played. Shit would make a grown man cry

gato cat yeah then he puts the radio back and you know he’s not coming back out ;(
gato cat you can hear Kirill talking on the radio onboard the Aurora using the ham radio
With Race Against Fate playing
I hope metro series wont end ever, like this is the most dramatic and inspiring, excellent story all blended together from the first title, with great if not the best grapich ive seen out there, but man this shit is so sad sometimes and deppresing seeing this 2 colonels dead, mybe could be more happy end but it is what it is,but i have so many qyestions, like what will happend with sams trip to home, what a bout aurora crew and litlle kid, what about that damn girl who had crush on my boi haha he said ill come back for you...damn man what an experience, will Artyom still continue to cruse around the world with his crew continuing Millers job,,holy shit
That might get answered in the next game
Those Russians!!!! and their hard, real life, philosophical literature and art!!!! Aaaahhhh I love and hate it at the same time!!!!
We knew, that Chlebnikov died but... It was just sad to see it, see how proud father died because of shitty timing...
I played through this 4 years ago. Idk why but I had this itch to watch it again. I have goosebumps the story telling throughout the Metro series is unbelievable engaging.
Bro this is so sad as hell, the things our fathers would do

the ending is one if not the best of all video games or dlcs ive ever seen. this dlc is UNDERRATED SO MUCH

"The Blind ones are scary!"

I'm dissatisfied with the lack of librarians in this game. Them mfs were scary.
@@andypozuelos1204 yeah but i think the new gorrila is pretty cool, and it makes sense since they are not in Moscow

Looks like i will never found game like this.. metro is such an emotional game
The best dlc i ever played cant wait for anothe dlc
the heartbeat in this was really weird it felt like my blood was actually pumping through my ears.
Khlebnikov is the only character to whom the miller has truly spoken.
I swear.. I saw a dark one at the ending when he's dead and the shutter opens before Miller walks in. I didn't see it here, but I am on my phone. It happened in a flash and just teleported around, then vanished. Happened really fast. Maybe it was just a glitch..
The salute says it all. Nothing but respect for this game
Cried for the main game finale (both good and bad endings) and cried for this finale, damn, love this game
All because he didn't close the door right after he got inside.

Let's all hope none of us have to see the world like this. Excluding all the mutants and stuff in the story, nuclear war is a very real possibility and it would permanently change the world for the worst.

Boys - 11:35
I fell in love with this series when it started with Stalker Shadow of Tchernobyl (I know its not the same story but the work of the same dev team more or less)… Metro has a special place in my heart, those games are hardly underappreciated. Story, atmosphere, weapon and character designes…a masterpiece…
God, this even makes the Unbreakable Patches shed a tear..two fathers risking it all to save the ones they loved.
So where did Miller get the railgun from if he'd given it to Artyom?
paul treneary It could either be the developers mistake or a player’s personal choice.
More important question is: why does Miller have the railgun in the first place?
@@EcchiRevenge Ah, characters in video games do seem to miraculously pull things outta their butt when they need them (which also makes for an interesting inventory system in some games) - for all the 'great story' there do seem to be a few plot-holes and incongruities, but it's only a game after all ;-)

At my Playthrough when Miller opens the gate, there was an Ghost escaping the Room... i didnt saw it here little bit confusing
dang, if it wasn't for miller, artyom would have died too, but miller gave artyom his last dose of green stuff, sacrificing himself. that explains why miller's body had a radiation reading off the scale. novosibirsk is truly a cold hell in the metro universe
After completing the main game and knowing what exactly happened at the Metro station, having the DLC started with everything still under control and have to play through the destructive event that we read through at the main game, it is just so depressing..
The ending is just so sad, but it is also a relief in a way, atleast Khlebnikov managed to find the map and indirectly saved Kirill.
I just finished the two Colonel's and dang its sad 😢 but such a good story. The entire Metro series and the books are some of my favorite stories.
In all honesty, Artyom should've been the one to get the maps, its HIS dream of finding a safe haven in the surface that got them all out in the metro, yet miller wanted it to be him to make that dream come true, as "atonement".
