Bassist John Paul Jones played synthesizer on this and guitarist Jimmy Page used a violin bow on an acoustic guitar to get the droning effect. The beginning sounds almost like a call to prayer in the square of a far-off, ancient land before they lower the boom and it grinds into a gritty, slightly menacing groove from the depths of an almost sinister "somewhere". When the guitar comes in, it's almost like it gives the feeling of ascension; I definitely get the feeling of being lifted up out of the darkness and into the light. Zeppelin was never afraid to go to unexpected places.
You can’t paint them into a corner! They are there on genre! That was the keyboard in the introduction played through the Moog Synth. The GOATS! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 You’re dressed like you were going to Zeppelin concert in the 70’s!
Jimmy Page, the guitarist was also the producer and was very innovative. The ending guitar is over dubbed in traditional fashion, then switches to the 2nd guitar being delayed by a second or so. Zeppelin were not afraid to step out of the norm and be creative.
New subscriber here, and I am really enjoying your reactions to one of my all-time favorite bands, LZ. Something I think you might love is Robert Plant's early '80s hit Big Log, which came along after Zeppelin. It is so romantic and haunting; a perfect travelling tune. Thanks, Marie!
Thank you so much Journey for reacting to this. I was one who suggested this. I figured you would enjoy. Its one of their most incredible works. Such a powerful songs. Check the lyrics out. Share your load. Totally love watching and listening to you!
They were definitely mysterious, on that same album at the very end of Down by the seaside they sang these 6 words. Don’t they know the devil wins. But that’s not a true statement, Jesus already defeated satan by giving his life up for mankind and God the Father raised him from death because no one can kill the creator of all that is and will be so we could be saved!!!
This is a great deep track of theirs. I believe the opening sounds were created by Jimmy Page using a cello bow on a guitar, and John Paul Jones playing a synthesizer. Great reaction as always.
Another great song from Led Zeppelin! Interesting instrumental sounds, too. I think they use the instruments between the violin 🎻, electric guitar 🎸, and synthesizer(I could be wrong). Thanks so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍
This song is incredibly complex and non-traditional. You almost have to have a background in rock and roll appreciation, and a very liberal and open-minded approach to musical listening and comprehension. It was never a popular song for the radio because music station directors felt it was "too complex", and felt it would be too difficult for listeners to understand and/or enjoy. Such is life.... Jason Wampler
Please react to *Jeff Buckley - Grace (BBC Late Show).* Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are big fans of his. Page said that Jeff had “the greatest voice in two decades” (between the ‘70s and ‘90s), and Plant said that Jeff was a “much greater singer” than him. Brad Pitt also said this about Jeff: “He’s Page and Plant in one, on a technical level; it’s mind-blowing.” Coincidentally, Jeff’s favourite band and biggest musical influence was Led Zeppelin.
What up sis? You know I need that PAC from you lol... Stay true sis all love .... 💙🤞✊ Yea the hands are gold because we are royalty if my people don't know ... 💯
I kind of feel bad because I laughed when you jumped the first time the music kicked up. This was never one of my favorites by them but it reminds me of a long ago friend ,that loved it. Interested to see where you go next. Stay cool...
Try ANY song off the first album by AUTOMATIC MAN (1976). It was a racially-mixed space-rock/prog/funk band out of the SF Bay area. Plenty of great compliments on their regular You Tube song videos, but unbelievable to me that nobody (except one guy) reacts to this masterpiece. I check it every day on the search bar & still no reaction. You could be a groundbreaker by covering it!
No disrespect but, this is something your not used to with todays auto tune bullcrap noise that all sounds the same…..these guys were real musicians/artists…..True G.O.A.T.S…..all 4 of them ..never been any band better.
This is why Zeppelin is beautiful , complex and dangerous. 😜

cello bow
@@andreweaves7975 according to Jimmy in several interviews, it's a violin bow.
Sounds like bagpipes the way it drones etc
@@wls64 no, I don't believe so, although Page and Plant used a hurdy gurdy during their time together in the 90s.
just one of led zeppelin*s best rock songs
An absolutely epic song from Zep.
Your reaction was honest and beautiful. Thank you!
There are so many rock bands but there will only be one Led Zeppelin.
Thank you!!❤️🙏🏼
You are absolutely the cutest girl to ever listen to Led zeppelin. More please until next time stay well
Thank you😊🤣
sit back relax and enjoy
They are MAGICAL! Every genre...unbelievable talent!
Best double album ever recorded in my opinion!
Plant's "OOOOoooo yeaeeyeaeeyeah" is his trademark

…it was a Farfisa Combo Organ.
Thank you for reacting to this very underappreciated Zeppelin song!
My fav band hands down

My favorite Led Zeppelin song 🎵 ❤

I think you're right
He Jimmy Page did use the bow in more than just dazed and confused may have been used in the Light also.
I’ve never heard Zeppelin play any song the same ever, but the song still remains the same. 😳😁

Robert Plant the rock n roll crooner!
The organ Jones used was a Farfisa Combo Organ.
