For real! I have no idea how we survived the playscapes of our day and even the everyday travel (AKA, riding in the back of pick up trucks with uncles who were either stoned or drunk!). I have to think we had some supernatural Grace on us because statistically, a lot more of us should have died by virtue of how unsafe and ignorant the adults in charge were, lol I do miss merry go rounds and teeter totters still though!!! 😆 There is a female comedian who talks about how those born by 1975-80? were some of the most "un-parented" kids ever... Right before helicopter moms arrived on the scene. 😋 I won't rag on protective parents at all, as l agree there was a butt-ton of neglect in the gen X households, but l do think things went way overboard in compensation to the point kids are even called "free range" when they are simply allowed to ride a bike in their neighborhood unsupervised. Not sure if we will ever reach a balance or recapture the kind of freedom that l grew up with, exploring the woods with cousins and friends and staying out till' street lights came on, but it was a blast listening to this set and being taken back in time for a bit. So good! 😊

I got a sea urchin nailed to the side of my head.....that hurt. Ever see a 10 year old tan blond kid with a big purple urchin stuck to his head with blood running down his bed and side.........judging from the other it's hilarious.

He really had me going with the handsome story 🤣🤣 It reminded me of a time a friend asked me to record his phone ringtone. In the county he is from, his lastname literally means ‘Handsome Man’. So every time his phone went, everyone could hear: ,, Your phone is ringing Mr. Handsome, please pick up !! The looks on other people’s faces was priceless ( note: he was everything but Handsome) 🤪🤣🤣

We caught two of Heath's shows on a recent NCL cruise (his clean show and his adult show) and they were both thoroughly enjoyable. And Heath is a really nice guy off stage. Try to catch one of his shows if you can!

Plus, remember the sky high, baking hot metal slide that we slid down so fast, that we flew off the end and landed in that cracked, dried dried indentation of dirt at the bottom. Bonus-full of muddy water when it rained!
Plus, remember making it get slipperier by polishing it with wax paper before you went down. And since girls didn't wear slacks in the 50's & 60's you'd end up with hot metal marks on the back of your legs. But you went FAST! Ah, those were the best.

Just started watching this one... Reminds of the time my mom brought me a puppy that she saved. I told her I'd take him because she really couldn't keep him. She told me he was soooo sweet and I should name him Loverboy. I said, "No way am I standing outside hollering for Loverboy!"
We played smear the "person" in Jr High but we did not use a football, it was my favorite game during lunch and breaks and I was good at it! At my school, we all had nicknames from the game. I was Tank and sometimes diesel. I had not thought about that in years.
