I always did commercial gyms. Never thought of home gym as an opinion but once I did during COVID I purchased some equipment. I've gotten new PR's and have begun following powerlifting programs and I love it. Needless to say, I canceled my membership with no desire to return.
I'm one of those guys who ended up building a home gym due to 2020. One thing that I realized going to commercial gyms is how dirty they are. I used to go to what I thought was a very clean gym from what I was used to having had so many memberships in the past. You'd be surprised at how many people never wipe down the equipment after a sweaty set, stink of B.O., etc. Seeing discolored benches due to people's oily head is disgusting. Then seeing the equipment look pretty nasty from not being maintained properly including the seats, handles and weights themselves. I don't want to come across as a home gym snob, but those are things I believe many home gym owners will immediately notice if they had to go back to commercial gyms. I also don't miss the gym bros who never put their weights away, hog up all the equipment while doing supersets, circuit training or playing on their phone. The only drawback for me personally is that I miss the atmosphere of commercial gyms. Being there is like therapy or "Me Time" as opposed to being at home worried about the next honey-do lists after the workout or household stuff.
Very well put! I completely agree. I definitely miss leaving the house to do something consistent like going to the gym... now all I do is walk 20 ft to get there 😂 I think a cool way to help counteract this has been inviting friends or family members come and train with me. The only time this has proven a problem is during lockdowns, etc. One of my favorite parts about our home gym is how well we can maintain and keep everything in shape. I really like having equipment that feels like it isn't falling apart. Like you, I am not a fan of using all those broken rubber grips on commercial gym weight machines!
All the weight equipment is nice but its also useless if your trying to work in on a busy day. To be honest I've walked on 600 dollar treadmills and 6000 dollar ones. My walking experience didn't change that much. If your a runner you may need more, but not me. I don't hate commercial gyms but there is a lot to like about home ones as well.
Team Home Gym or Team Commercial Gym?

@@gymreviewer Haha. Walking 20 feet to the gym is the best perk ever. 100%

Personally home gym is the best. I'm glad I had my setup pre covid. I don't want to wait for people, waste gas, rent a machine, or use junky bars lol
Spot on Juan! That's why I made the full switch during the beginning of COVID! Nothing better than having nice bars in your own cozy home gym 🙌🏼

11:48 a dirty business
From what perspective? Literal dirt (bathrooms, equipment, etc.) or ethically dirty? What was your experience with LA Fitness?
@@gymreviewer from my perspective it’s the business they did me dirty on that with the membership and especially the personal training contract
Oh, interesting. I’m sorry to hear that! More often than not there are no memberships at the Home gym ;)
