Probably the most philosophically right on review of a beautifully made inexpensive China watch I've ever seen . They picked a great 50 year old design watch to honor and I say more power to them ..... Oh , BTW .... I'm 67 years old but when I was 13 the Hodaka was the the bike we all drooled over ...... Ha !
I have now purchased 51 Pagani design watches… I have found that their QC, and final fit and finish can vary wildly. Many arrive fantastically assembled ZERO QC isssues, than a couple arrive seeming like they were assembled by people using their feet. It’s definitely a brand where the advice… your mileage may vary, definitely applies. one area they never fall short, is when they do utilize the Seiko movements. As I make my way through the collection with videos. I will talk about this issue. These two Paul Newman Daytona’s are fantastic watches. They’re great cheap way for someone to experience a vintage watch and they work darn well too.
Amen! On all points. All the enjoyment,; none of the stress. None of the potential for appreciation, but the money one saves can be invested. What are the other brands doing homages to these two PN Daytona?
Instant subscription on the first video of yours I watched (the one about the Speedy). This video confirms that the first one wasn't a fluke. I really like your way of approaching these reviews and I can't wait for you to post more of them. Anyway, that's enough ass kissing from me! I have the reversed panda version of this watch and I love it. Not a fan of the polished midlinks of the bracelet so I popped this bad boy on a brown leather racing strap and it looks like a million bucks. Or 17.8 million bucks, hardy har har. Paid all of 40€ for it on Ali, and I'm in the EU, so that includes 21% VAT and shipping. It does look a bit big on my 6.25" girly wrist, but I love it and that's what counts, right?
Thank you! I agree the center links should be brushed, but still heck of a watch. Yes stay tuned, have a couple projects in the works now, a short watch… highlight posts this weekend, an a longer format review later this month.
@@davidcrandall4958 Just as easy as any other brand with a bracelet with solid end links. If I can do it, anyone can because I'm the biggest klutz in the world. You'll need a spring bar tool, of course. If you want one that works well and that'll outlive you, may I recommend the Bergeon 6767. And straps are about as available as they come. The lug width is 20mm, which is the most common width out there.
I just bought a white Paul Newman Pagani to wear as a daily beater and I have an original Rolex steel bezel Daytona circa 2015 that I only wear on certain occasions. A "Real" Paul Newman is at least a $200,000 dollar watch in average condition so out of my price range. My Rolex Steel bezel Daytona over $20,000 value is actually out of my price range as well, but I'm old and worth it cause I want it!
Killer piece. Theres a reason they demand that premium. I took the bracelet on the PG and I brushed the center links with a green scotch brite pad. Really added to the vintage vibe imo.
I think brushing center links is a plus for vintage look. Ceramic bezel is a dead giveaway that mine isn't an actual Paul Newman. The early original Daytonas are pretty fragile and don't come close to the in house movements that appeared later. Even these are not as accurate or as durable as the VK 63 caliber mecca quartz. I also retired an Omega speedy with a Pigani and it's a super time piece. I also build bikes and cycles as a hobby.
You are 100% correct the Pagani "Speedy" is their very best offering. I put mine on an Omega case fitting, black rubber strap and wear it a lot. You have the best quality channel in every metric. Only a few of the snob watch guys come close to you in production work and accurate terminology. I especially dislike the long unboxing ritual of any timepiece regardless of value. I plan on watching all of your past reviews and look forward to those to be presented....
I answered your bracelet strep question in another comment that you had left, I have owned quite a few watch brands currently and through the years, follow my instagram, and stay tuned here, next few videos are not Paganis.
@@davidcrandall4958wouldn’t surprise me. A explorer II Pagani I have terribly misspells stainless steel and their own name on the case back, they have consistency and QC issues for sure!. Not sure if you figured it out or not but Pagani has a line they sell in Italy called Pagrne and instead of the PD-1644 the Pagrne is PG-#### but it isn’t misspelled, just their other brand. But all Pagani’s are PD-#### and on the back yes some do have just the numbers and others the full inscription.
Bought one a few weeks ago cause i'm not always confortable wearing my thousands of euros watches on my wrist in steets of Paris those days... 😢 Anyone wants it he'll get it without a fight 😅 As i noticed on différent pagani watches i had seen before, the bracelets are of a very fluctuating quality from a watch to another... Mine is almost good. Same for the lume... Average on mine, seen some with almost none and some with bright lume... Don't understand why the Band is not fully brushed would better fit the Vintage look... So i bought a brushed one on eBay 😊 It's a Nice watch for the price. (109€ shipped to France including all taxes which are huge in France 😅)
I agree on the bracelet! I just took a green scrubbing pad, and going in one direction, “brushed” the polish. Looks perfect, and correct for the vintage look.

The best review in UA-cam
Thank you VERY MUCH! I’m working on my style, and hope they continue to improve in quality.
Can you remove the scratches? Nobody uses it the way you used it. 😂
Based on that, the body did really well! 👌🏼
Oh a buff and polish would be way more than these watches are worth.

The wear and tear are a feature,
not a bug.
Agree with this review 100%. These are the Royal Enfield interceptor 650 of watches. Functional, retro look, modern tech.
I like that
The black one is developing a nice and unique character!
For sure!
It seems like it should be a super accurate Chronograph!
Yes, the movement and it’s accuracy have nothing to prove.
Interesting wording!

How easy is it to switch out a bracelet for a band and how easily available are bands?

Super easy, the spring bars are easily accessed, and the lug width of 20mm means there an endless amount of strap options.

They both have PD 1676 engraved on the caseback?
