This video was so special to me. I loved the technique and style you used to blend the backgrounds together for a cohesive visual. When you were working on the tree trunk, I especially learned how not to over-due. Let the watercolor take over for the details. That was an "ahh" moment. Thank you🧡
Wonderful! It's so helpful to see your sketchbook page come to life from the simple strokes to the watercolor and shading. I also love that we can make our own interpretation of the reference photo and not feel pressured to make an exact replica. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much 😀 Trying to make some videos showing more of the process as a help. Always appreciate hearing from you…thanks as always for your encouragement and support Karen😊🍁🍂
I love compositions that have a broader scene but also a closer, detailed "portrait". It's a little more intimate than just a simple object for foreground with a detailed landscape or a portrait that has a generic background. That's probably why I like old guide books.
Wow. This was very interesting and Beautiful! This layout can be used for so many things! Thank you for mentioning that we don't have to copy the reference photo exactly, that was a big struggle for me in the beginning. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial, as always. I hope you're having a beautiful weekend ❤
Thanks so much! Yes, a reference photo is super helpful but shouldn’t be restrictive when making art. Always appreciate your kind words and hope you have a wonderful weekend too😊🍁
Another gorgeous sketchbook spread, and my favourite tip: 'Take your time'... so important in so many ways, so we can really make the connection with our chosen subjects. Thank you!
@@LoisDavidsonArt Thanks so much! Always appreciate your feedback and encouragement! Taking time is such an interval part of making art…thanks for sharing your beautiful art with everyone too!! 😊🍁
@ My husband and I are building a off grid cabin. I love your tips! I glued an envelope in the back of my journal and cut some scrapbook paper to stash in the envelope. Such a great tip! I am not very good, but keep doing a little practice here and there.
@ That’s so cool! Sounds like a lot of work but will ultimately be a great place to get away…glad if you enjoyed the tips too! Hope you keep making art as it’s a wonderful way to express yourself. Thanks again!! ☺️
I love youre composistions, but also youre calm voice. Love to see that you work from photos, i always feel guilty to work from my photo references because i take my time to enjoy nature when i walk in the woods, then i take a lot of pics and work them out at home, but you let me see that its good to do and taken the time for it
Beautiful 🖌️🖼🎨. Thanks for sharing 💐. Hiked today and took some photos that may work in a journal like yours. Something so revitalizing about being in nature then capturing those moments.
Thank you 😊 The shapes range from 3” by 3” (inches) to 4” x 3” and so on. I try to make shape sizes to fit in my medium and large journals. Hope that helps!
@@tiffanytoldson Hi, yes I paint on both sides of the paper. It’s a nice heavyweight watercolor paper (sketchbook listed in the description) and takes the water very well. 😊
I love this. Your subjects have just the right balance of detail and “loose“ painting.
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching too! 😊🍂

What brand of fountain pen are you using in this one? It has a clear plastic body.
Pilot Penmanship; I put a link in the video description
Do you paint on both sides of the paper? If so, do you have an issue with bleeding?
