I love this idea. I generally take my dog, and she takes most my attention. Blocking out a "draft" and painting what I can on site, then finishing it inside is a perfect solution! Thank you so much!
I enjoy all three types of nature journaling, but unlike many jpurnalers, i carry on drawing in winter and when it's raining. If the weather is really dreadful (and where i live, it often is) i may journal from a window, but i enjoy the challenge of finding a subject on even the bleakest of days. It helps me learn to see detail, too.
This is so wonderful! I find myself doing all three depending on how my day is going. I’m a beginner and now that winter is here I think I’ll be using more photo references that I take when I’m out and about on errands!
Nancy - I really enjoy your channel! I would love to be able to get out in nature and do some journaling, but because of major health restrictions, I am limited to my very small, very limited backyard. I am able to take drives in the area and do a lot of trees from my car. I go where I can drive to and then sit in a camp chair. However, I don't have any "guilt" feelings at all about finding photos online or in books that I can use as references. I try to find ones that are in the public domain and always give photographer credit when available. And here in North Florida, we only have 2 seasons: hot and not as hot! 😂 It's a good thing I love doing lots of live oak trees! 🤭
Thank you! Also, appreciate you sharing how you nature journal and have adapted to fit your lifestyle. It’s so fun making art and glad you are enjoying it…thanks so much for watching 😊🌼
Just lovely - I like your style of nature journaling. Beautiful. I like the background wash idea. I was thinking of using a Medieval Illumination script as the first letter at the top of the page - maybe switch off to the Celtic animal alphabet - just to make it special. Flower press - absolutely. Paintings and photographs. Mine will be mostly about our big garden and the rather abundant wildlife in the small habitat my neighbor and I have created for the wildlife. Seasonal observations, interesting quotes, poems, gardening ideas and tips, thoughts ... clippings, prints from books or Pinterest. or the web. I'm planning to journal whenever I can, so there will pages with simple quick entries but I plan on one lovely art page every month or maybe split it into two journals, one a working one and one more fanciful - we'll see if I'm even inspired to keep up with it. Yours is truly inspirational - I think I want something reminiscent of the Nature Journal by the Edwardian Lady Edith Holden.
Thank you! Sounds like you have lots of amazing creative ideas…hope you will make your journal(s) too. I have found nature journaling to be highly “addictive!” 😅 Thanks so much for watching and commenting 🌼🌸🌿
Hi there, once again thank you so much for making this video. You have a very gentle and pleasant way of bringing the art of nature journaling closer to our own day to day life 😊 I love to go out to do some sketching, making reference photos and bring some leaves and flowers home with me. I am totally happy to work the drawings out in my studio at home. It feels so cosy to me to sit there with a cup of tea and to make myself comfortabel. And, because of some health issues , I'm not always able to go outside. I am blessed with a garden and lots of flowers to enjoy.🎉 The Purple and gold page in your journal is awesome beautiful!
@@agnespeterse2529 That’s awesome! It’s so helpful for people to hear that we can nature journal in a bunch of different ways…appreciate you sharing and watching! 😀🌼🌿
Great, flexible ideas! I mostly do hybrid journaling -- best of both worlds! I do this mostly so that I can be in the moment, enjoying the experience and fully taking it all in!
Thank you 😊 Yes, hybrid journaling is the most enjoyable for me too. Trying to do as much as possible before late autumn and winter here! Thanks so much for sharing and watching as always 😊🍂
Thank you for this video. I actually do nature journaling so I can spend time outdoors. The most surprising things happen when just sitting for awhile like a deer showing up! A hybrid method works best for me. But I have started also taking reference photos, so I can add detail at home. All three ways are awesome!
That’s perfect! I love the few moments I have to sit and discover things in nature too…seeing a deer would be so fun! We have walked up on them while hiking and I have gotten quite a few photos and videos of them to journal later…Thanks so much for sharing and watching the video 😊🌼🦌
Absolutely perfect! Love this video and everything in it! I nature journal mostly outdoors, sometimes have to finish inside. I like your "no pressure" journaling ideas. Sent this to a friend 👍

How do you know the names of the plants or weeds to write about them in your journal? It looks so relaxing to do. I would like to start a project like this.
I use an app called Plant.net to help me identify them while I am outside. Or if I don’t have time…I look it up later and take notes of what I notice about the plant. I really have enjoyed journaling and have lots of journals now that I work in for different things. Hope you start yours! 😊🌼🍂
So sorry! Maybe section off your page and try to add a drawing of one small plant or item to each section whenever you have 15 minutes to doodle. Hope something works out for you ❤️
