One of if not Thee best nature journaling videos I’ve seen. So encouraging and great tips. You have really inspired me. And your voice is very calm. Also appreciate that the music is quite distant and not over powering. Thank you.
Hello. This page was highlighted on my UA-cam feed this morning - what a find! I was talking to my daughter yesterday about using a beautiful unused diary as a sketch book and lo and behold you have popped up. Having now viewed a couple of your videos (and subscribed) I am very encouraged to get started, thank you
This summer my nature journal was dedicated to woodland plants. Since my walks are along old roads and small creeks, learning about native flowers was a delight. When possible, a few leaves were pressed to place on the page. Your methods of placement and design for the pages is instructive. Thank you.
I just found your UA-cam channel on Friday and have spent every spare minute to watch your videos. I am so inspired and you got me to sit down at a table and start drawing and painting again. I’ve not had any inspiration for the past couple years so it’s all coming back to me. I use to just draw while sitting in a recliner but decided to finally sit down at a table and do it. What a difference. Your work is phenomenal and your videos are all so calming with beautiful set stage and music, but the real joy is your artwork. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work and knowledge.
Thank you for reminding me about tracing . What a good idea to overcome ones own fear of not being that great at drawing , but also to help learn and improve the skills to be able to do drawing a bit better. Its very relaxing watching what you do and its a nice pace , it does not feel at all rushed . Very relaxing and enjoyable to watch.
Thank you for suggesting to trace the objects and practice. I often hear that tracing is not proper but you are right, we are not professional artists, we are people who love nature and want to record our experiences. That can relieve a lot of stress , pressure and frustration when someone is just starting out. I have been off and on drawing for a little over a year now and get quite frustrated drawing when I can’t get it right. So thank you for suggesting tracing can help.
Oh so glad! Yes, nature journaling can be fun and beautiful no matter our art skills! I want to make a future video giving more ideas about to journal without drawing 😊🌿🌼
Excellent tips -- especially the tracing tip and how special that you are using your brother the naturalist's book! Thanks for another beautiful & helpful video!
Glad it was helpful! That’s always my goal. Just to be clear…my brother recommended this book as he used a copy of it during his many years working as a naturalist/nature preserve manager in our state. I have to talk so fast in my videos at time that it may have been confusing how I said it. He has helped me identify countless wildflowers when I first started journaling. Thanks so much for always being so encouraging! 😃🌼
I’m new to nature journaling. I’ve attended a few nature journaling sessions with a naturalist at a preserve near my home. She teaches a bit about nature journaling and the subject of the day before we head out. She’s very passionate about nature journaling. Your tips are so helpful as well. Excellent ideas for me to try, esp since I’m not confident with my drawing skills at all. I also love the layout ideas.
So inspirational! I’ve been looking for some sort of instruction for this exact subject… nature journalling. My drawing skills are very rough, but I certainly can trace😊. I’m going to try all of your tips and start today🎉. BTW I am 71 years old, did a bit of fairly decent drawing years and years ago and am now ready to begin again. Subscribed❤
I woke up super early this morning and found your amazing channel ! Your voice is very relaxing and your artwork is simply beautiful!! I am SUBSCRIBED and looking forward to more of you and your talent!!!
I love your work! I'm so glad I found your channel, thank you for sharing these tips. I haven't started a nature journal yet as it is a daunting prospect since I'm not artistic, but I am an Herbalist and a Naturopath and I have wanted to do this for many years. I just keep putting it off due to lack of confidence.
Thank you! I hope you are inspired to try…I will be sharing more ideas in the future on nature journaling alternative ways. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊🌼
thank you for the very accessible approach. I am struggling to find a rhythm in a hectic life (two small children, busy city and fulltime job). I see lots of tips to draw fast but as a beginner that is ...impossible (if you want the drawing to look like something anyway). I try to draw on location but I do not manage to do this a lot which frustrates me. With your tips I realise I could take pictures and draw at home! I was feeling a cheater when I copy some other drawings but now I do see the value of it! Thank you!
@@manona2845 SO glad you were encouraged! The nice thing about a nature journal is that it is meant to be relaxing and a journey. So no time pressures. Also a great for kids…I have an older video where I added fall leaves to my journal (no drawing) and this could be a nice adult activity AND a simpler version for kids. Anyway…thanks for watching and happy journaling! 😊🌼
Good morning from Austria! Thank you so much. Your videos are really inspiring and motivating 🌿🍀🌾 I haven't started a nature journal yet but I will do soon. 💕
Your artwork is so beautiful. I really liked the tips in this video because I am trying to build my drawing skills, especially trees also when leaves or flower petals are in a side facing view.
Thank you so much 😀 I have some videos on trees and will be doing more pages in the winter (here.) Tracing and copying different angles of petals should be a big help as you practice too…thanks so much for for watching 🌼
So many wonderful tips. Thank you. Your journal is lovely. I aspire to one as attractive. I thought your tips were excellent. I especially liked the way you broke your pages in blocks and how you featured your drawings by setting them off with the yellow paint so the page looked vintage. New subscriber here.

No idea why this came up in my feed. I had been thinking about taking up drawing. Recently moved out of London and to the peaceful countryside and wondered how I could start.
