@Job Nonnekens it's a joke. Relax. But it's true the Zippo is definitely heavy and big compared to a bic. of course it's loud. That's an iconic part of a Zippo. Everything he said is true. Loud, heavy, takes up more space, and wastes fuel. But this is an iconic, historical American invention. You don't carry it because it's lighter, smaller or quieter than alternatives. You carry it for all the great things about, despite the many negatives. I love my flawed zippos
But theres literally no reason zippos have to be inefficient though. I hate this, and I hate how whenever people talk about them they just act like its an intrinsic part of the design that cant be avoided. All you have to do to make a zippo-like design not waste fuel is add an o-ring on the case. theres a chinese seller called war-armor that actually does this, they have sturdier more durable hinges too. they just use a thicker case, with an edge on the top half of the case that pulls away from its inner edge, and a ledge on the bottom half of the case that draws away from its outer edge, and has an o-ring fitted on it. BAM. Fuel will evaporate out of the wick while its closed, but it will never leak out of the case, and only a little bit will be able to evaporate before theres nowhere for any more to evaporate to.
Zippos are popular precisely because they are reliable, sure you have to refill them and the flint needs replacing but overall they are more dependable than a gas lighter. I bet that no longer works in ten years time with constant use. A zippo will last a lifetime.
Zeta Reticuli or just bring two bics and save the weight and risk of carrying around a fuel canister. If a bic gets wet you don’t even need to take it apart just wait a few minutes and your good to go.
Even with butane, over time it will evaporate from the container. Unless the seal is flawless, it will slowly dwindle down. I have a few old butane lighters from maybe 12 or 15 years ago, never used them but the butane is down to about half full, just sayin.
+deafomega (YoGattoGatto) A few years beats a few days!! Besides, the Thunderbird seems to hold on very well. Months go by and a I dont see much gas being leaked. Again, much better than something I KNOW I'll have to refll every week.
+TheModernSurvivalist meh, I would rather have long term solutions. Butane in your lighter will run out after a while, even if not evaporating out. You will eventually use it up, and you may not always be able to get more fuel. I often just go with a simple magnifying lens to start fires, and fire strikers or flints at night. Pretty long term solutions with those, and the lens is a nice option if you are able to use one correctly. I would use this in the daily life situations, seems nicer than most lighter options. But for long term survival, I prefer the lens even over the fire striker.
+deafomega (YoGattoGatto) It's best to have more than one option. It gets cloudy, it's night, high humidity etc basically when you might need it most a lens won't be helping you. A ferro rod, is a great back up, but when materials are damp or you're in a high humidity environment you're boned unless you have a supply of dry tinder (which puts you again, with an exhaustible resource). My point, it's best to have back ups and everything runs out eventually.
I usually have a few back up options, but a lens is nearly unlimited. I have a lighter, extra flints for spark wheeling if it is out of fuel, and matches coated with nail polish in a pill bottle with dryer lint
I've had my Thunderbird insert for a few years now. I have the one where the flame come out the side, so I can use it with my [tobacco] pipe. Highly recommend it.
I was having the same problem as you. Right out of the box it was making a very small flame on the highest setting. I was about to email the company but I just needed to turn my knob a little bit further thanks good video!
I accidentally figured out a way to keep my Zippo from drying out. I don’t smoke so I carry a Zippo just to stay prepared. So I don’t pull my Zippo out every 2 hours. What I did was put my Zippo in a small zip lock bag (the kind that little screws come in when you buy furniture or something like that). I reinforced the bag with tape to keep it from getting a hole. I put it in the bag to keep it water proof in case I somehow end up getting wet. What I found was the Zippo does not dry out in the plastic bag! I carry it in my pants pocket where it gets rather warm, yet, it does not dry out. I’ve been carrying it this way for over a month!
Why bother ?? Just buy a cheap disposable butane lighter. Or better yet, get a modern jet flame butane lighter. The whole idea of a vintage Zippo is that it's a wick type lighter and it used a naptha based fluid. The whole thrill of a Zippo it that naptha smell and the wick and the fact that it's a genuine Zippo inside and out.
Well we use it also for the heritage and best of all we can do tricks with it. It's like playing with a knife. Plus its 100x more wind resistant than a bic lighter.
+WitchidWitchid Also it is a lot easier to light a fire when you don't have to hold the little lever down on the disposable. It will also act like a candle (stands by itself) or hand warmer.
I liked Water World and Jeanne Tripplehorn. He does say one thing important at 3:18 the wadding that comes in Zippos is rayon, if you replace the rayon with cotton, and you have no fuel and need to make a flame, you can use some of the cotton wadding and light it on fire with the flint spark. The rayon will not light.
I've had two similar inserts that were about half the cost of a new plain Zippo (different manufacturer) which I got from a traditional tobacconist in Manchester UK (I'm a smoker). I always carry a Zippo when I'm outdoors, hiking/backpacking etc. because of their windproof qualities, but wanted greater fuel life. The butane inserts are good for longevity of fuel and no taste as a smoker, but not in the wind and the sprung steel strip spring under the fuel on/off lever operated by the lid broke via fatigue not long after two years which is why your's probably has that guarantee. If you are only giving the lighter light use it should last a long time, but the wind shield is no more effective than a normal butane lighter. As they both broke I didn't buy another, now if I'm on a longer trip I carry some extra fuel instead. My Zippo with the original insert back in is now over 40 years old.
I don't care what anybody says, ZIPPO is ZIPPO and always will be. Yes this butane insert is unique, but no other lighter or brand can beat zippo. Zippo is a classic and an original lighter.
Ok. I did wonder why the Costner story , but once I saw where you were going with it I was hooked. Never seen waterworld but iWork's have spotted that BIG mistake straight away! As an ex smoker this gas insert means I can now have one of my Zippos handy all the time to light the wood burner, gas torch , a candle whatever and know it's going to work even though it may not be in daily use. I used to get skin irritation on my left thigh from having a regularly refilled Zippo in my jeans pocket. If this had been available 30 years ago I'd have got one. But I've just been on eBay after seeing your vid and bought one now! Cheers for posting it , chap
I have been using one in my old Zippo since Feb. 2013, and it works great. People are surprised to learn that it is a butane lighter. I have another one with Electro Quartz Ignition, no flint to replace, that is more like a mini blow torch in my other Zippo. I like both styles.
Zippo, is an American brand made in Pennsylvania, Bradford Pennsylvania, (same name yes imagine that), to be exact since 1930's I have my dad's that was his dad's he got it from him in 1946. Same exact lighter almost a hundred years still works still used every day
Back before I quit I used refillable butane lighters for a long time, everyone I ever had would run out in 2 weeks to a month, even if you didn't use it, it will eventually leak out. The refillables would go flat in a month or two even if they weren't used. The only ones I found that didn't really leak were the non refillables, I had a sack with about a dozen or so in it when I quit a long time ago, about half of them have leaked out all their butane, about half have retained most of their butane, so when I need to light something I can pull one out and use it.
I think the Zippo Yellow Flame is better actually after testing both for a long time the Zippo Yellow flame holds up. The Thunderbird does have a problem with the cam after heavy use, and the wheel is not as thick as the Zippo so it won't produce as good a spark. But it is the ultimate lighter if you can get one that doesn't break, the only problem I have with the Zippo butane insert is lack of flame adjustment.
Zippos can ignite a piece of a paper handkerchief easily. Should also work with dry leaves I guess. The problem I see with the modified lighter is that they require butane, whereas the original zippos could be fead with every kind of fuel.
Really late response but fresh water was expensive too. When Costner first arrives at the main town he buys a cup of water at a bar and the other patrons look on in jealousy. Its treated as being ver valuable and he can afford it because he had dirt to trade
The new Zippos leak faster because Zippo now stamps a ridge into the bottom sides of the insert to make fitting them easier to manufacture I suppose. This creates gaps for the fluid to evaporate around it and out of the case. The old inserts were flat with no ridge and sealed better against the inside of the case of the lighter.
It was so nice to learn the flame tuning trick. I don't like being limited. Flame should go from small to insane in my opinion and now it does. There are certainly benefits in butane lighters. It allows also using the lighter sideways when lighting candles for example. I still like old fashion gasoline lighter but i need to store it in freezer to prevent the excess evaporation. Freezer does the job very well by the way.
Hey but oh yea. With your regular zippo. If I r using it like storing it in your pack. Cut a band of rubber from a bicycle tube and slide your zippo in it. I understand this slows the evaporation
I think the problem is that butane doesnt vaporise below zero cold temps, so petrol all the way for me, will either seal my zippo with a ranger band or buy a sealed petrol lighter.
Hola Elian! Yes, a common Bic will of course do just as well, maybe even better for a long term kit. This I like because it still allows you to use a Zippo you may have grown attached to and still keep it practical. I agree that for a liquid fuel lighter the IMCO beats the Zippo on practicality and on how long fuel lasts.
jvidrums quality is more costly that's given....... But lighters and fire making tools in general are something, which needs to be in working order and durable...
John Stoner For Life 77 Zippo's Blu2 does not have an adjustable flame. With their flint-wheel, as soon as the lid is opened a Zippo will vent butane making tricks an expensive past time.. I have a half dozen Zippo's, including a couple Armor ones. The Thunderbird I have (high polish chrome) has a flat ring like a Zippo Armor, I looked at it because it looked like a Zippo and I've counted myself as a Zippo Guy, but the adjustable flame is what made me give the T-Bird with a blue-flame insert a try and it has become my daily carry. I do wish the T-Bird had the weight of a Zippo Armor. A traditional Zippo is wind-resistant, a single blue torch by any maker is very wind-resistant. From my experience, only a multiple blue torch is wind-proof. On another note, a naphtha fuel for any lighter is too sickly sweet for my taste, so I use rubbing alcohol in my Zippos. If TSHTF, a Zippo is what you'd want for the fuel options, but you can't braze with a standard Zippo. I've never had a lighter "dry up" as opposed to being used up.
***** Doing tricks with some another lighter than Zippo is like driving indy cars with a go cart.... I have only 1 Zippo at the moment, red coated don't know word for it in english "with picture of joker playing card, where joker is holding cigar or blunt... 70€ = 110€ I'm not certain which one it supposed to be, blunt or cigar But I've have had more than my fair share of Zippo lighters.. Like golden Zippo which pays something between 5000-7000€ today, although prizes wasn't even close to that back then.... Silver one with groves in corners in mirror "image" 1 smooth silver, with gold decorations And 1 fake ebony And at least dozen different versions cheap basic Zippo's And one from 60-70, which was military issue version... If I recall right .... It Had IIII - IIII markings which is somewhere close to middle of that decade
Yeah sure if you put a butane insert in your zippo it would hold its fuel longer but finding tanks of butane would be hard also if you need to fill it with butane you cant use improvised lighter fuel like gasoline
I collect lighters you wouldn't believe the age of some. disposable lighters ive purchased from eBay that lasted longer with regular use than a new bic
Cricket piezo lighters for me all the way. Last forever in storage, reliable, even if soaked in water. Shake the water out, light 'er up. And, weighs almost nothing.
6:20 Lighters with a lever to make a flame smaller or bigger can do that lol and you can make the flame huge...just don’t lose your eyebrows (yes I was young and stupid)
Yea defeats the purpose of it's multi fuel, field maintainable, and reliable endurance. Why does everyone have a problem storing their fluid in a watertight container and putting it in the lighter when you need it? I mean come on the zippo itself is a poor place to store lighter fluid.
For those of you that would like to buy the other zippo ( Gold and blue one) it is called - Zippo 20903 Gold Floral Flush Brushed Bras Lighter US Original - and can be bought here: www.tmart.com/Zippo-20903-Gold-Floral-Flush-Brushed-Bras-Lighter-US-Original_p147077.html
Sorry but Zippo is just that Zippo. I have several of them as a collector. Including one in a Tin that was sold for D-Day's 40th anniversary and never used it. I will use a $10-$20 zippo but, I will not use the ones that are collectors. I bought the D-day one back in 1995 at the mall in Beaverton OR. And kept it all theses years untouched and still with everything in tact. Aslo do you know what the series means on a zippo lighter? That will tell you if it is collectable as well.
I mean, the only problem I have with wick and fluid is running out of fluid. Right now, I have a full bottle with my new Zippo, but I'm gonna run out sometime.
Imo the beauty of zippo's is the fact that you need to refill the fluid, change the wick & Flint. I love the mechanics of zippo's, I find these high pressure butane lighters boring as hell, i don't even smoke, I just like zippo's lol
cool but i like the smell of the fluid... thats the only reason i use zippo on the other hand if someone wants to be fancy by all means that insert is the best way to go
Why don't they just make a water-proof, O-ring type rubber band that can be put in between the opening of normal Zippos to seal them? I think it would be a better looking way of stopping fuel from evaporating rather than wrapping it in rubber like most people do.
But how is the flames wind resistance compared to a normal zippo? The main reason I use a zippo is that they are easy to light in windy conditions and don't get blown out often.
Victorinox screwdriver ftw! Regarding the insert, does it light if it's turned upside down? I don't smoke, usually I use my zippo to light candles and with the regular insert it's a little bit hard to do
Old Zippos last forever, too, when the lid is sealed as it should be. It's hard to believe people have forgotten how to do this. It just takes a couple of minutes. The insert is really very, very silly. It's the last thing you would want in a very long term survival scenario. Just buy a BIC. A BIC isn't as good as a well-maintained Zippo, but it's ten times as good as a Butane insert. At least a BIC has a ferro rod inside it that's large enough o ttake out and use with a scraper.
What element is it that gives amethyst its violet color? Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and owes its violet color to irradiation, iron impurities (in some cases in conjunction with transition element impurities), and the presence of trace elements, which result in complex crystal lattice substitutions.
i have a dmc black ice zippo and i luv it though i hate constantly having to replace everything though because it can get expensive but i have to have 1 for work the thing im most woried about the style black ice is the desighn eventulay fading i paid 135 for tht desighn
How is your thunderbird insert going nowadays? i wanna buy one but im afraid it's going to break after a few months. Since im from brazil, im gonna need to import one, so is not gonna be very cheap for me =/
I had one of those in the shopping basket but what made me go for the Thunderbird instead was that it uses a flint instead for ignition. In a worst case scenario even if out of gas it could be used to lit some tinder. The z-plus is still pretty nice, I may give one a try eventually. Do you have one, how do you like it?
You miss the point of a zippo. Every single butane lighter ive ever owned went bad. Even the expensive ones.Even with 6X filtered super fuel. Ive had the same zippo for over 20 years now. Feed it. Change the flint. Never a problem I really like your clover lighter tho
Came for Zippos, got Kevin Costner biography
Hahaha i know right
How to make a zippo lighter never dry out. Remove the parts that make it a zippo and replace with butane tank. But first... history of Kevin Costner.
Too much talk No substance
Oh UA-cam...
Zippos are such an American product
Loud, big, heavy and totally energy-inefficient. love it
dominik13579 it's an American product because it works and can be reused and lasts a lifetime. Unlike the plastic ones you gotta keep throwing away.

Job Nonnekens hes tryna say he hates americans 😂😂😂lool
@Job Nonnekens it's a joke. Relax. But it's true the Zippo is definitely heavy and big compared to a bic. of course it's loud. That's an iconic part of a Zippo. Everything he said is true. BAM. Fuel will evaporate out of the wick while its closed, but it will never leak out of the case, and only a little bit will be able to evaporate before theres nowhere for any more to evaporate to.
2:22 is the part where he talks about the Thunderbird. Everything else before is about Kevin Costner, Waterworld and The Postman...
Thank You , Tony
Too much talking; too little real info.
+GizmoBee1702 Great ad for Kevin Costner movies.
GizmoBee1702
His English is awful. Flowtating cities? Lol
That's a cool Bic, but where is the Zippo?
i always play with the zippo lid - even in my pocket. The gas will gone faster than the fluid ^^
+mmbaster cant help you with that ;-)
Same bro
Zippos are popular precisely because they are reliable, sure you have to refill them and the flint needs replacing but overall they are more dependable than a gas lighter. I bet that no longer works in ten years time with constant use. A zippo will last a lifetime.
yup use to carry a zippo all the time but when you refill it with fluid the excess would leak into my pocket you can't beat the flick your bic
butane lighters will not work in the cold 👎
I've gone through a few of these inserts, none of them have lasted even a year.
Zeta Reticuli or just bring two bics and save the weight and risk of carrying around a fuel canister. If a bic gets wet you don’t even need to take it apart just wait a few minutes and your good to go.
danoalb all you have to do is rub one between your palms for a minute and it will work. I've had bics go through the washer and come out working....
That scene in the movie drove me crazy i was just screaming "HOW CAN YOUR ZIPPO STILL HAVE FUEL WHEN I HAVE TO REFILL MINE EVERY WEEK!"
Even with butane, over time it will evaporate from the container.

Not near as fast as regular fluid will evaporate

Zippos are made in the USA, have a lifetime warranty, and you can get cool graphic designs. It's a gentlemen's lighter.
WitchidWitchid also if Ur Zippo ever stops working they will fix it for free
It won't smell the same. That's my favorite part about a Zippo.
I bought a Zippo to get away from plastic and butane. I use a hippie wick with mine so my smoke tastes pure. Yours looks refillable, which is cool.
I liked Water World and Jeanne Tripplehorn. He does say one thing important at 3:18 the wadding that comes in Zippos is rayon, if you replace the rayon with cotton, and you have no fuel and need to make a flame, you can use some of the cotton wadding and light it on fire with the flint spark. technically, if the zippo in waterworld was waterproof, the zippo would be air tight. stopping the zippo fuel from drying out.
I guess keeping a zippo in a ziplock bag would do the job.
I had a zippo style lighter made by thunderbird. It had the same style half sunken hinges and was every bit as nice as any zippo I have ever owned.
Back before I quit I used refillable butane lighters for a long time, everyone I ever had would run out in 2 weeks to a month, even if you didn't use it, it will eventually leak out. I think the Zippo Yellow Flame is better actually after testing both for a long time the Zippo Yellow flame holds up. Interesting review thou. Had no idea butane retrofits for Zippos were a thing. Learned something today.
Zippos can ignite a piece of a paper handkerchief easily. Should also work with dry leaves I guess.
The problem I see with the modified lighter is that they require butane, whereas the original zippos could be fead with every kind of fuel.
Yeah I've used 91% alcohol when I ran out if fuel before, and was actually surprised it worked!
It was dirt that was expensive not water
Plus I think the Zippo thing was from The Postman.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that noticed that
Really late response but fresh water was expensive too. When Costner first arrives at the main town he buys a cup of water at a bar and the other patrons look on in jealousy. Its treated as being ver valuable and he can afford it because he had dirt to trade
Thanks for the heads up on that flame adjustment. 👍🏻 -Stephen, Ohio
0:34 Did he really say "floatating" hahaha!
He said rotating probably his accent
Riley Cheez-us why would city's be rotating ?
Ryan Felce Rotating through citys, moving from city to city...
Riley Cheez-us Ah thank you.
Riley Cheez-us Since he spoke about the earth being covered in water i think he meant floating cities.
Takes the nostalgia out of using and maintaining a Zippo.
Which zippo is he holding in his left hand? I like the way it looks.
+I'm unamused did you ever figure out?
Keith Kwan Unfortunately not.
+I'm unamused That's now called that Water World special.
+I'm unamused zippo gold floral flush
+HAWKONER get some new eyeballs or a new brainball if you mistook right and left hand
My Zippo is electric but at the time I thought I was buying a real Zippo that wasn't electric. I bought it from a market in Japan.
floatating
The new Zippos leak faster because Zippo now stamps a ridge into the bottom sides of the insert to make fitting them easier to manufacture I suppose. This creates gaps for the fluid to evaporate around it and out of the case. The old inserts were flat with no ridge and sealed better against the inside of the case of the lighter.
You have mixed Waterworld with Postman. A movie even worse than Waterworld
It was so nice to learn the flame tuning trick. I don't like being limited. Flame should go from small to insane in my opinion and now it does. There are certainly benefits in butane lighters. Tac Blades just use a bicycle innertube and pull it over the lighter. Easy to roll down and it makes the fuel last alot longer
Daniel Karlsson That’s what a ranger band is. A cut up bike tube.
Now I want to rewatch those movies
Zippo makes butane lighters also, with same life time warranty as their gasoline lighters
Mad nice
John Stoner For Life 77 but they look different and are 4 times the price
jvidrums quality is more costly that's given.......
*****
Doing tricks with some another lighter than Zippo is like driving indy cars with a go cart....
I have only 1 Zippo at the moment, red coated don't know word for it in english "with picture of joker playing card, where joker is holding cigar or blunt... 70€ = 110€
I'm not certain which one it supposed to be, blunt or cigar
But I've have had more than my fair share of Zippo lighters..
Like golden Zippo which pays something between 5000-7000€ today, although prizes wasn't even close to that back then....
Silver one with groves in corners in mirror "image"
1 smooth silver, with gold decorations
And 1 fake ebony
And at least dozen different versions cheap basic Zippo's
And one from 60-70, which was military issue version... If I recall right .... It Had IIII - IIII markings which is somewhere close to middle of that decade
Just use a bicycle innertube and pull it over the lighter and it will last alot longer and its easy to roll down when u need to use it
Yeah sure if you put a butane insert in your zippo it would hold its fuel longer but finding tanks of butane would be hard
also if you need to fill it with butane you cant use improvised lighter fuel like gasoline
That, my friend, is a gorgeous zippo. (Gold & black.)
How do you know Kevin Costner didn't use the exact lighter you're referring to?
Love that Shamrock Zippo
I collect lighters you wouldn't believe the age of some. disposable lighters ive purchased from eBay that lasted longer with regular use than a new bic
why am i watching a vidio aboot zippos
learn2Tune ~ talking about Keven Costner movies no less.
About*
+Itz Vinny he's Canadian
learn2Tune same
Whats a "Vidio"?
Cricket piezo lighters for me all the way. Last forever in storage, reliable, even if soaked in water. Shake the water out, light 'er up. And, weighs almost nothing.
6:20
Lighters with a lever to make a flame smaller or bigger can do that lol and you can make the flame huge...just don’t lose your eyebrows (yes I was young and stupid)
Yea defeats the purpose of it's multi fuel, field maintainable, and reliable endurance. Why does everyone have a problem storing their fluid in a watertight container and putting it in the lighter when you need it? I mean come on the zippo itself is a poor place to store lighter fluid.
For those of you that would like to buy the other zippo ( Gold and blue one) it is called
- Zippo 20903 Gold Floral Flush Brushed Bras Lighter US Original
- and can be bought here: www.tmart.com/Zippo-20903-Gold-Floral-Flush-Brushed-Bras-Lighter-US-Original_p147077.html
I don't think I care for these inserts too much. I like wick and fluid.
+Demonic Darkness I like wicks too, but these are very practical. If in doubt give it a try is all I can say. or stick to wick and fluid.
I mean, the only problem I have with wick and fluid is running out of fluid. Right now, I have a full bottle with my new Zippo, but I'm gonna run out sometime.
Thank you for this information, I didn't know how to adjust the wick
Barook
But how is the flames wind resistance compared to a normal zippo? The main reason I use a zippo is that they are easy to light in windy conditions and don't get blown out often.
I'm still a fan of water world, postman, and thunder dome lol.
Water World is Kevin Costner's best film. U should talk about Water World in every video with a Kevin Costner poster in the background.
Dude don't throw it out, I'll pay shipping even if it's NOT working. I like the design and have a small collection started
Victorinox screwdriver ftw! Regarding the insert, does it light if it's turned upside down? I don't smoke, usually I use my zippo to light candles and with the regular insert it's a little bit hard to do
Is there a possibility of having one of these in a bag and the lid somehow opens releasing the gas in your bag creating a fire hazard?
Old Zippos last forever, too, when the lid is sealed as it should be. It's hard to believe people have forgotten how to do this. It just takes a couple of minutes. The insert is really very, very silly. It's the last thing you would want in a very long term survival scenario. Just buy a BIC. A BIC isn't as good as a well-maintained Zippo, but it's ten times as good as a Butane insert. At least a BIC has a ferro rod inside it that's large enough o ttake out and use with a scraper.
I never got over that scene in the Postman
yeah, pretty stupid moment in the movie. I did like the movie though.
For sure. Solid movie.
Guess I gotta go look up the trailer for Waterworld now.
Gonna order one now!
That's the reason I use Zippos because there is no butane I smoke a lot of cigars and butane gives a weird taste off
...Not really, it's probably just in your head.
What?? A Zippo gives off a waayy worse taste than butane.
You can use other fuels as well.
Well, you know I was always taught to use matches with good cigars, the really big kitchen ones are best.
If you want a taste less flame, buy a S.T dupont.
How many cigars do you think the lighter will last for? Just a ballpark. Thanks!!
Since im from brazil, im gonna need to import one, so is not gonna be very cheap for me =/
I just got mine in today. Mine has a lifetime warranty.
I had one of those in the shopping basket but what made me go for the Thunderbird instead was that it uses a flint instead for ignition. In a worst case scenario even if out of gas it could be used to lit some tinder. The z-plus is still pretty nice, I may give one a try eventually. Do you have one, how do you like it?
dirt was valuable not glass of water
will it still sound like a Zippo click
I find zippos annoying anytime I pick mine up it'd bone dry.
+Shane C That means you never almost never use it.
William Miller change the wick and curl it up in little "S's", you'll get a solid 2-3 weeks out of it before needing to refill. Just some random info
William Miller thanks comrade you explained it very well I did not know what they meant with dried out have a great day :)
i used to collect zippo;s ive only got a trusty brass one which ive had since 2006
Water wasn't called water in Waterworld. It was Hydro ;)
I dislike butane lighters because I can never tell when it's full. I can never tell if the butane is even going into the lighter.
Try putting it against a strong light. You can usually see the level of the gas that way.
Nice to have the butane option. Great vid
U can use actual gasoline as fuel for a zippo
That Crazy gun guy yes but it ruins them
Wow. I now have a reason to carry my zippo. I got one because they are cool, but I fpund them to be more of a hassle to use all the time
So i need to buy the normal lighter to get the case to actually change the lighter out to another one?
Where did you bought that luck one? i haven't see any same in the store or web!
I would like to try one of these. Great review!
Floatating is not a word my guy 😂 Floating is just fine...
How dare you question water world...
Nice insert tho.
benjamin felland - I am annoyed he gave away the plot, I was gonna watch it sometime
Do they still make the same Zippo 'ting' sound with the butane insert?
Well u would pit butane in it! Not regular lighter fluid
You miss the point of a zippo. Every single butane lighter ive ever owned went bad. Even the expensive ones.Even with 6X filtered super fuel. Ive had the same zippo for over 20 years now. Feed it. Change the flint. Never a problem
I really like your clover lighter tho
Does that Thunderbird insert fit your standard Zippo lighter
The waterworld zippo couldve been owned by a time traveller who travelled from the past with a working zippo.
so u just need thunderbird insert?
Can you move the camera maybe like two feet back or so. We can still see the lighters fine. I promise.
