The sign on the box is actually a seal of Russian Federal Customs Service. Given that almost every branch of Russian gvt has some kind of paramilitary/law enforcement unit in its roster, we can assume that this ration was produced for them.

Those small pills are water purifiers. And about heating the meal... When I was in Russian army we were making a hole by this plastic knife in a package in order to prevent it from exploding. Because if you open the package it takes ages to heat it up so that's a solution we came with. Want to mention that the meal was designed with an idea that you're supposed to eat everything with crackers like apple jam, grounded vegetables and of course the main dish. You may warm up vegetables but usually we had been eating them cold when I was in Russian army.

Hello guys from Siberia, from an experienced user of these army rations. I watched the video with a smile, there are some points that we do not do with these products and items. The dry fuel burner should be turned over with its sharp edges down and flatter, sharp edges towards the ground. You do not need to open porridge and soups when heating, or you need to slightly open a small edge, if instead of a burner you burn over a higher heat, then it will be more saturated and not so dry and naturally the heating process will be faster. Vegetable stew (appetizer) is practically not heated in our country, it is usually used to quickly snack on a biscuit with vegetables or add it as a cold salad to a hot one. Tea is not brewed until it is very tart and strong, which will ruin its taste and, for some, increase blood pressure, which is sometimes unnecessary. Also, I did not see in the set hunting matches of a larger size and impregnated with a special compound, because of which they do not go out into the wind even when wet. Bon appetit and rest to everyone
PS with pills for disinfection is a separate laugh))) I was afraid that you would brew them with tea

It's not necessary to heat it up but it tastes better. The other tin is beef i believe mixed with buckwheat, pretty neat stuff to get, also it needs good stirring as not to get burnt when cooked on the little stove. It's interesting to see a marine trying these out and question himself what he's dealing with :). There are more than 10 different compositions of dishes. There are also specialized rations where different packaging is used, maybe a flameless heater, as in American rations, a different set of dishes, mostly additional goodies and drinks. Even army biscuits are available in 3 different varieties, green being the most common, blue from wholemeal flour, and red from rye flour or with its addition, if I'm not mistaken. :)

When I shared my story with my Ukrainian friend on our trip to Las Vegas in 2015, he freaked out, got angry, and left me and my daughter in hotel strangled. I understood how much Ukrainians hated that Russians did very well and succeeded. Since than, I keep travelling between Russia and USA, and ready to move there.

    24:58 fun fact
there’s a reason US MREs are smaller than RF MREs
US MREs are packed with all kinds of shit like vitamins etc you are basically eating a protein shake mixed with preservatives
being smaller doesn’t necessarily mean less
the main reason they are smaller is because the US learned from D-day
having a full belly and taking a injury to the intestines is a medical nightmare for any surgeon not only because of sepsis but because of the time it will take to clean any food that removed itself from the digestive tract making the chance of survival for others far lower in a mass casualty scenario given medical practitioners are occupied because of a mre was to big
so basically the US came up with the idea of how can we make it just as nutritional if not more at a smaller size
anyways our MREs pack a punch for their size and increase your chance of survival

According to the box this is the intermediary food ration, guess something you can have between meals provided by a filed kitchen/before the field kitchen got up and running. On the dates: the expiration date was 29/10/21, 29th of October of 2021. Hope you'll get a proper 24 hours IRP ration with a star, those are are honestly kinda nice, but be aware that some of those menus contain a pack of ambient-temperature pork fat, an acquired taste for sure.
Oh, and 3 fuel tabs are just because they use the same pack for the 24 hours full MRE, and it's easier to use the same thing. And veggie thing is eaten cold, but I guess you can warm it up if you want to.

Buckwheat is the bomb if you want to get well fed. That looks a bit dry though. A good way to eat it is just to make a simple flour sauce with minced meat with some black pepper and dill. Another good way is to make a cold sour cream, dill and pickled cucumber sauce (add cottage cheese for extra protein) and use it to cover salted and boiled buckwheat with a side of battered fish. Blows the socks off of potatoes IMO and better for you.

  • @13Scorpius13
    @13Scorpius13 2 роки тому +1

Well, you've been doing something wrong, so you're having these problems. Now I will give some comments:
    1. The tablets are designed to disinfect water, they are enough to get a liter of drinkable water. The tablets contain chlorine, so they will disinfect this amount of water for a period of 30 minutes to an hour, after which the resulting water must be filtered through a carbon filter - or let it boil for 1 minute.
    2. Crackers are specially made unsweetened and unsalted so that you can eat them both with dessert and with main dishes and snacks. This is a universal bread.
    3. You have used the heating device incorrectly. In fact, you used it upside down. The sharp ends of the legs are designed so that you can stick them into the ground and fix the heating device They are also longer - that is, part of the heat from the combustion of the fuel tablet is lost this way.
    4. The main dish is buckwheat with meat. You should not have opened the jar, as it is calculated that it will open itself when heated, when the adhesive layer softens from heating, and inside the jar the evaporated liquid forms enough steam. That is why you could not reheat this dish as it is provided.
    5. It's quite original that you decided to reheat the vegetables - since this dish is ready for use cold.
    6. Tea and sugar. Think about decontamination pills. They are enough for a liter of water. This is just the amount for which one tea bag and 20 grams of sugar will be enough.
    7. This ration is called a "One-time (intermediate) diet". Its purpose is a one-time meal if the fighter has left the location of the unit for just a few hours.
    8. In order not to lose heat, you could use both a wind shield and a heat shield... the same box in which the ration was packed.

While not looking very appetizing to the typical westerner, the Russian rations are not bad at all. They are rations more for "adult" taste buds unlike what you will find in modern US mre's and there is no question which I prefer. It's not fancy or much variety, but what you get is decent "real food" that doesn't taste like bad canned pasta and sugar. The vegetable caviar, the apple preserve spread and pate's being particularly outstanding. I would eat these at home. The cheese spread is ok, very mild but nothing noteworthy and while the heavy buckwheat porridges are not exactly my cup of tea, put enough salt on them and they are perfectly fine and would be decent for cold weather meals as well.
