When I was younger I had an American friend come over to my house once and when my mom made us lunch and offered her some Pâté she thought we ate cat food.
From what I know, pate is supposed to be boujee food in the States. It's not canned of course and is served in fancy restaurants, I've seen it on a few menus in fancy UK restaurants so I guess it's the same there

It's basically just corn syrup that was modified to contain 55% fructose and 45% glucose (in the case of soda). It's not all that different from table sugar (sucrose) other than that it's a mix of "simple" monosaccharides with slightly more fructose, whereas sucrose is a polysaccharide that's 50/50 fructose/glucose. Artificial sweeteners are entirely man-made and tend to be extremely sweet and low in calories. But your point stands. By the way, European Coke is also made with normal sugar instead of corn syrup. I find that it has a much deeper and more complex taste compared to American coke.

I've had a lot of MREs from around the world, and honestly the Russian and Belarussian ones are the best. Its almost like they actually care about their soldiers.
