I've had my lock for two weeks and couldn't mount it until I saw your video. Thanks!!!
That’s awesome. All the best!
I am so glad I watched your demo before I even tried to start. I would have gotten so frustrated. 1,000 times better than the directions. Wish I could smash the like button over and over. THANK YOU!
Thank you for watching and happy to help. All the best!
Just tried this trick on my Lectric XP Lite. You have less then half the space the step through bike has. Had to pick up a cheap wrench at Walmart, cut it down so it would fit between the tire and the head of the screw, finger tighten it, then finish tightening down with the small leg of my good wrench, a quarter turn at a time. Two lousy screws took me over half an hour to install. What a chore!
Thank you for watching. Yes, I’ve heard different models can present different challenges. Pain in the tail but glad you succeeded. I too would have cut the wrench down. Unfortunately not all have the ability to do that. Lectric should probably supply to tool necessary for the install. All the best!
The XP Lite has different frame geometry than the 2.0. The mounting points for the lock casing on the down tube are absurdly difficult to access in a cramped space, making this video useless for the Lite. After struggling, I used zip ties to hold the casing in place temporarily while squeezing my fingers in to start the screws. Depending on your seat post height, you might consider using the included Velcro straps to mount the casing there.
Thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this!
And thank you for watching. All the best!
You da best. Thanks from this ole gal in Chicago!
And thank you from this geezer in Mass. All the best!
My bike was just delivered today! Thanks for the great tips to install the lock.
Good to hear. All the best with the new transport!
Thank you for showing how to install the bike lock. The first thing you said was "remove the screws from the seat tube" OMG, if only the quick directions said that first it would have saved me a lot of aggravation!! Thanks again!
Awesome and happy to help. All the best!
Your video was the first that I clicked on when I was trying to install my bike lock. I was able to install it in under 10 minutes! Thanks so much!
Great to be of assistance. Thank you for watching and all the best!
That’s how I did mine. Had more trouble with the mirrors than this for some reason! Thanks!
Great video thanks and happy holidays!
Thank you and thanks for watching. All the best and Happy Holidays!
Very clear explanation. I might consider using Loctite as well on the screws.
Thank u for watching! Yes, loctite might not be a bad idea. All the best!
So needed this. Thank you 🙏
Seems pretty simple. Thanks Mike!
It is. I have the XP 2.0. I’m told the XP is a bit more difficult.
You make it sooo much easier! Thanks,, Mike.
Amy, thank u for watching. Bear in mind that some bikes are harder than others. Wishing u the best!
This is pure genius sir!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you! I know it doesn’t apply to some models but I’m glad it’s helped many.
This was a great help. Thanks!
Thank you for watching and happy it helped. All the best!
Thanks! This will make it seamless.
Leanne, I hope it does. Bear in mind that I did this on an XP 2.0 Step Thru. On other models you might have to cut or grind down the hex wrench to get it in the tight space. Good luck and all the best!
Excellent idea. Many thanks.
Hope it helps. All the best!
I love, love, triple live your garage/work shop. Awesome job. Live long man. Be happy.
Thank you and thank you for watching. All the best!
You're a pro!! Thank you
THANK YOU! also for your hack to more easily insert the screw
Thank you for watching and glad to be of help. All the best!
Thanks you I wasn’t what to do with the lock washer!
Thank you for watching. All the best!
Thanks! This worked a charm!
Great to be of assistance. All the best!
OMG, a huge thank you! I added some Vaseline to the end of the Allen wrench and screw to keep it still because the screw kept falling. I had less space on the Lectric XP lite but it worked!!!
Great to hear!
Bruh i had to take off the back light on the xp lite it was pain tryna put it on but i did it lol.
They totally get a terrible job for the XP lite giving enough room to mount this!
Good thinking Mike!
Thank u John!
Thank you very much for explaining you made it easy 😇
Thank u for watching. All the best!
Great video, thanks!
Thank you! And all the best!
Great video! Great solution!
Thank you for watching. Hope it helps. All the best!
Brilliant💫
Good job thanks
Thanks so much! Looked at it and thought to myself, I am missing something. Haha. Took me a short second after I watched this. Would’ve been lots longer to try to figure it out myself.
Glad to be some help. All the best!
Seems pretty straight forward. Maybe you could also show how to use the lock? Show how to hook it up to something? Thanks!
Will do. When we thaw out here in the North East. 🥶
Both washers go on the same side. The side that the head of the bold is on. One is a locking washer. The one with the slit in it.
Thank you!
This might have been somewhat easy with the XP but I have an XP Lite which has very little maneuvering room. Very difficult to get the screws placed and move your hand around to tighten. I'm a woman and I can't imagine a man being able to get his hands around this enough to tighten. I did manage to do it but not easy.
Hi Terry. My bike is the Xp 2.0 step Thru. The lite wasn’t available when I made the video. Glad you got it done. All the best!
The 3.0 is even worse. Easy on the step thru but the standard was difficult. People cut the hex key and it was easier
Great advice
Thank ya and all the best!
Btw, here’s a contact email. jeni29577@aol.com
Thanks for the video, this thing was eating me up. lol😀
I take it you were successful. If so, good to hear. All the best!
Oh I wish I would have seen your video before I spent 20 frustrating minutes, practically standing on my head, to install the holder.
Ha! I hear ya there. Glad to be of some help. Albeit belatedly. All the best!
Thank you
And thank you for watching. All the best!
At first I was wondering if you had really small hands! I was completely failing to get this to work using the same technique you use, but I had nothing but frustration until I realized that on my bike there isn't enough space between the lower screw and the fender to fit the supplied Allen wrench. I cut an inch off the Allen wrench and was able to make it work. Not sure how standard the spacing on these bikes is... The trick of using a bit of grease in the Allen screw head to keep it attached to the wrench while it's placed is a good one too.
Great to hear you rectified the situation. You’re correct as different models have different spacing. All the best!
Thank you so much for this video! I fiddled with the mount for about 30 minutes before I gave up and decided to look for information on how to attach it. Mine also came with two straps with velcro and odd places dash do you know what those are for or where they would supposed to go?
The Velcro is just an alternated way to mount. All the best!
My questions too re the straps
@@dawntodd2042 You don’t need to put the straps back on if you mounted it to the frame.
The upper mounting screw om my XP 3.0 must have been installed at the factory wrong. It was in there so tight I thought I would break the allen wrench trying to remove it, but the screw busted off instead. Now that one is worthless but not worth sending the bike back to the factory. I will use the velcro strap for the upper part.
Thank you for watching. Sorry to hear the screw snapped. The Velcro will work great. I also mounted a collapsible basket on the back. In it I keep a Krytonite chain and lock which works great. Good luck and all the best!
Good video. Wish I’d located your video first. I did the same thing with the screws, but didn’t know i had to take the existing screws out of the bike first 😮. I thought they were the screw holes, not actual screws. Yes I’m technically challenged and the instructions didn’t say that. Thank you! Still can’t figure out what the Velcro straps that were included are for.
Thank you for watching. All the best!
Btw, the Velcro straps are an alternative to the screws. If you were truly technically challenged you could have Velcroed the lock to the bike. Good work!
There are 2 extra screws that came in the package with the Allen wrench. I'm confused on which screws to use since the 2 extra are longer than the ones I took off the bike.
I used the ones in the bike frame where the lock mounts. They’re the same size as those shipped with my lock.
I just keep that lock you mentioned and the other one I use and place it in my Aldi bag and ride it to the store as that is really the only time I need those locks. When I go shopping I just take the bike lock out of the aldi's bag and use it to lock the area near my front wheel and my 2nd lock is used for middle part of the bike locking it near a object that can reach it. I use the lock you mentioned & the kryptonite lock.
Sounds like a good plan Ronnie. I haven’t been to an ALDIs yet but I did live in Germany for 7 years. All the best!
Do you take the key out when you lock it up?
I will. Anything to make it harder on thief’s.
Thank y0u for the instruction. I was wondering how that was installed. I also bought a Krytonite lock so I will always have 2 locks on the bike. Slows the thief down and makes someone else's bike a better target. Hope he/she is caught anyway.
Good work! I too have a krptonite lock for the same reason. All the best!
You have the XP 2.0 StepThrough there. This is not the same on a XP 2.0. You have a round tube that starts well above the screws and arcs down to the back axle. You can see and access the entire mounting area. The XP's "tube" starts right at the top of the holder and is maybe 3 or 4 inches thick vertically. It covers about half of it. There is very little room to work. You can only get two fingertips to reach in there. The StepThrough seems to have more area between the bracket and back fender also. The supplied wrench doesn't even fit between the screw head and the fender. I'm going to try cutting some length off the wrench and see if that helps. But this is not so easy on the XP. after a half hour of cursing and sweating, I'm taking a break. It looks like I might have to take the back tire and fender off to do this.. maybe just the fender, I don't know. I'm too frustrated to look at it right now.
Sorry to hear of the problems. Wishing in you the best in this. I think cutting the wrench is a viable option
I had the same issues with the no step through bike. I had to use a small hex bit that fit my 1/4” ratchet to make the connection.
Can you cut the Allen wrench to make it smaller?
Had the same issue. I had to cut the wrench to fit in-between the down tube and the rear fender
Good work!
There are screws and straps included with the bike lock. So, did you use the screws that were already in the bike and what’s the purpose of the straps? Thanks. Great video the XP 3.0 is a little more difficult, but this method still worked better than any other.
Christine, thank you for watching. The straps are an alternative way to mount the lock case. It’s been a while but I do believe you use the screws that are in the frame. Good luck!
Thanks, peddle and ride on.
That answered my question. No bolts on the 1.0. Zip ties to the rescue.
No need for blue loc-tight? Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for watching I didn’t use loctite. To be honest, I didn’t even think of it. So far it’s held fine. All the best!
Mounting was easy now how do I use this contraption to secure my new bike? I have the XPremium
Harold, thank you for watching. I would play with it a bit and see how it works. If you need longer, try a kryptonite chain lock. All the best!
since I do not use the Lectric lock, is it possible to screw in a bottle holder instead?
I think you can as long as the screws line up and the bottle will fit. Good luck!
Can you install it on XPremium dual battery type. Thnx
Honestly, I have no idea. If it’s tight, try cutting or grinding Dow the Allen wrench.
Have you done a maintenance video 🙏
I have not. It’s been winter where I live so even riding has been slim.
What do you think about this lock will it resist a grinder ! &
Well, what can resist a grinder. It’ll go right through rebar. A lock keeps honest people honest. I think it behooves people to be diligent with anti theft devices, remove key from battery, maybe put an apple tag on board, etc. thieves suck.
Still couldnt get it to work. Ended up using velcro instead
My Xp lite not easy cuz small space wall different than your. I still hard time not put there because screw keep fall off!
Nice video but is not as easy on the Xp as the allen wrench is too big to mount and twist the screw.
Sorry to hear. I’m working with 2.0. If I run across an XP . . .
@@ChippersIslandAdventures They're both 2.0's. There is the XP 2.0 and the XP 2.0 ST (step through) which you have.
I think the biggest issue is getting that 70pd bike on that bench to work on it like you did. I want to see how you did that
LOL! I go to the gym a lot. Like the commercial: “I lift things up and I put them down” All the best
It’s much more difficult on the 3.0. I also kept the washer under the hex head, which was a real trick.
Thank you for watching. Yes, they are a little different. Hope it helped. All the best!
Sitting on the floor setting up my 3.0 right now and ya, its abysmal. I have fairly large hands and can barely touch the screw. The allen wrench also grinds on the fender trying to fit in there
All I can say is good luck. Someday I might get to do an install on a 3.0. All the best!
whats the best part to lock?
I’d say the frame and a tire.
Ok this might work on the 3.0 but the XP LITE as so little space you can't even get you hands in there install it.
Sorry to hear. Hope they address that. All the best!
Any tips for the xp lite?
Sorry. I wish I could help but I’ve yet to see a lite. You might try cutting the wrench to fit if that’s what it needs. If you can’t cut it, ask a metal shop or car shop.
@@ChippersIslandAdventures I managed to get it on. Had to take rear light off to make it easier
@@newbeatles1 Good work! Have fun with the new bike. They’re awesome!
There not that much room on XP3.0 for the lower screw. I wish it was that easy but I did get it. Removed the seat and worked from both sides.
Good work!
Thanks. I was totally flumoxed😢
Glad it worked. Or I hope it did! All the best!
As somebody who was in the construction industry for years your explanation is pretty elementary. The problem with my bike is I have nowhere near the clearance between the fender and the bike seat stem that you seem to have. I can't even put the Allen wrench completely perpendicular to screw it in. I have an XP 2.0 and I started out doing exactly what is being done in this video and it's still does not work. I spent an hour and a half trying to figure out how to get this completed with the amount of room that I have available in my particular setup. I was even thinking of cutting the Allen wrench down so I had more space.
You’re correct. Mine is the Xp 2.0 Step Thru. I would have cut the wrench or use a grinder. All the best.
Agreed . I had to grind my allen wrench down to get it to fit in there. Took me about an hour all together to get it to stick in!
The XP Lite has even less clearance. It took about an hour to mount the holder.
Thanks for the advice! Because I have the XP lite I didn’t have as much room as you. Luckily I have small fingers and I used some needlepoint pliers to tighten the bolts! Hope this helps someone!
Great work!
Not the same as an XP Lite. There is far less road on the lite. I pulled the tail light off to get to the top screw but did the bottom first.
I’m hearing this. The Lite wasn’t in production when I made video.
@@ChippersIslandAdventures The Lite has a huge support section around the lock area. It took two of us, hemostats, magnets and a lot of swearing to get those suckers in place.
Sorry. I will not take them apart for a video EVER.
Sounds like a real pain in the . . .
Installing this on the xp 3.0 has made me start hating my bike, lol. I've given up.
You can also use the Velcro straps. All the best!
not on the XP lite
Sorry to hear. The XP lite is new so not sure. All the best!
The Letric xp bike 1.0 doesn't have bolt holes on it. 🤔
I believe the lock mount began with the XP 2.0
did mine almost like that, I did the bottom first.
Good work!
This is absolute bull nobody’s frame is that wide my Allen wrench won’t even come close to fitting
I have the XP 2.0 Step Thru. At the time of producing this video, Lectric only had the ST and Standard. Try trimming the Allen wrench with a cutter or grinder.
@@ChippersIslandAdventures I ended up just pinching it really hard and crying I see now you had the step through sorry for the attitude it’s really tough on the 2.0!
All good and happy you survived. All the best!
Your breathing too hard
Ha! Yes, I caught that as well. Must’ve been lifting the bike onto the bench. All the best!
This is a pain in the ass with this stupid lock 2 hours trying to install this ish I’m so mad lol
Sorry to hear. If you can cut the hex wrench to make it shorter, it may help. All the best!
@@ChippersIslandAdventures I finally fixed it after watching your video :) that’s what I kinda meant too :) Thankyou so much !
@@nighter7881 Ha! That's awesome!
