So you want to know what the nubs on the front of the frame are for? The frame was originally designed for the 85X, which was intended to be HD from the very beginning. At one point early on, they were planning to use a low slung FPV camera separate from the HD recording camera. The camera would have a mount that would have clipped on to the front of the frame. They ended up going with the Caddx Turtle v2, which does FPV and HD with a single lens but, the vestigial nubs remain. It's probably very expensive to make a change after you have the mold.
Always good to see you back in the house... God, you're fast! But I don't fly my pro 2 indoors much. little big... Dogs don't like me very much when I do. I use it to learn new tricks in my yard mostly... Then I feel a little more at ease with the toothpicks and other open prop drones. I do bring it to work for lunch more than any of my others. Mostly because it's so safe. People don't freak out at much with the whoop type drones in public. also, turtle mode works very well with the ducked props. Very rarely do I have to go get it. Flight time is very nice for its size and speed. A lot of fun for a 2 cell battery for sure. I love mine. Going to conformal coat mine soon. Thanks again for all you do for us. You helped me become the pilot I am today. For that alone. thanks, Nick! You ROCK!
I built mine with the BetaFPV customized eos2 nano cam with a nano vtx under a larva x canopy along with adding the cf bracing strut underneath and an xm+. Overall weight went up to about 51 g, but it still flies great and has much better rx and tx connections. That was some really impressive flying!
@@NickBurnsFPV ahhh to be an 80s kid again. It's on Hulu so I'm literally watching right now lol. Seriously though, I'm enjoying the whoop thing and just recently got comfortable with the goggles. I use a betafpv lite fc in my brushed builds. This looks like a good step up for me... guess I better start saving up!
Great review Nick! So I built a Beta85 pro 2ish build a few months back, Shutterbug 85ish. Thing flew great until it got run over at a theater parking lot. Amazingly, the frame totally survived as well as the motors. Everything else got crushed. Couldn't believe the frame survived with no real damage. Crazy.
@@NickBurnsFPV Yup! Should have said that, but yes a car ran it over. The boards were actually rippled or "wavy", all bent up. I thought for sure the frame was done for, but it literally doesn't even look like anything happened to it. And my BetaFPV 1103 11000kv motors on it are completely fine. This was an "empty" lot that I was flying in and then I crashed right as a car decided to pull in to turn around and CRUNCH my poor 85. Had just put a Runcam Nano 2 in it, was so bummed. Oh well. Didn't get DVR cuz I threw the battery in the crash.
I think that 85 mm is the sweet spot for drone shows and racing. It allows to sit people near to the drone race without causing serious harm to anybody. 85mm format also has good flight time and flying characteristics and they are durable. With 3 blade props they also fly nice
$100 is pretty appealing for the performance both indoor and out (even with the washout). I noticed in the indoor flight the throttle rarely got above 50 so I can see why a throttle cut would make sense. I can't remeber if Shutterbug had yaw washout on his, but that whole issue is so finicky it's hard to pin down.
I noticed some washout was worse than others, there have been comments the washout on similar builds wasn't as bad as I had, there was some wind..that could have made it worse once I got up higher.
Wow! You certainly have skills. I still must grow and learn to such abilities. Unfortunately can fly in my apartment only when no one is home so probably never.
Love your vid's bud. Love the way you just get straight to it with breaking them down. No messing just straight to the point unlike some youtubers who'll drag it right out!. Awesome flying too. Keep em coming 👍 KING OF THE TWIG😊
Thanks Nick, Think I will get an BetaFPV 85 Pro2 and try it for inside flying. My UR85 is 20 grams heavier and is just too heavy for inside flying (makes a lot of noise when it hits the TV). Hope this works as good as the Tiny Hawk S for inside flying. To save a gram remove strap and use a rubber band. John from Chicago
Thank you for saying these are to be flown inside! So many reviewers pump whoop videos out flying outside. Whats the purpose of flying a tiny whoop outside...idk
Just thought I'd point this out, mine arrived today. I ordered it directly from BetaFPV's website. It actually shipped with a thicker canopy than the unit you have in the video. It's the pro 2, not the 85X just to be clear. So you and the other UA-cam whoop guys I think got them to make a change for the better 👍 I ordered spare canopies based on your recommendation here. Those are still the old thinner style for sure, so just keep that in mind folks. Anywho thought this may be helpful to those looking at this quad! *Also, it has grippy stuff right where you placed the Ummagrip on yours Nick. So again, keep it up! You help push companies to improve these for the rest of us😁 Also wanna add. I somehow missed that it now also includes an extra camera mount. In this (and other reviews I've seen) it comes with the 35 degree one installed and has a 25 degree one in the box as well. Mine came with those as well as a 45 degree mount too!
Thats great that they are switching the canopy. Betafpv recently sent me the meteor75 which has this new canopy when can take much more abuse. Good move...finally. And thank you for letting me know if looks like betafpv have switched even on models where the old canopy was used.
@@NickBurnsFPV So I have a question for a beginner like myself lol. I have this thing flying and it's AWESOME! How do you have that good video signal indoors? I literally lose video behind the first wall. What googles do you use. Or is it because the house is made from wood? Or you use some other frequency for transmitting?
I don't use anything all that special. Our house is made from wood, with the basement have metal beams to support the upper floors. The open floor plan surely helps. I use the skyzon 03O goggles with two axii antenna. You might want to try turning off the wifi in your home if you have that.

Have you reviewed or talked about your custom trashcan in another vid? 1102 motors, which kv, and how it compares? Can’t recall it. Separately for those struggling to find a local 3D printer, I just tried out RDQ’s new print service for the first time.
I haven't, I was using it in some of the igow weeks, The one I showed is 1102 10000kv motors, the props I am not crazy about, I prefer the gemfan 3 bladed props.
powerten the novice is based on what I flew most of this summer and it is a lot of fun (mine is xt30). I even prefer it to this guy, but have tunes and setups for both
thank you. I would like to take credit, but I have gotten good tips and information from many who come to the channel. It has taken me awhile to incorporate.
Nick Burns been flying this for about a week now and what a blast inside! This is my new favourite indoor flyer supplanting my tiny hawk S and bee drone. So much fun and only 1 destroyed canopy so far :)
The camera is a a01 from betafpv, comes stock with the 85pro2. I use the skyzone 03O goggles with stock internal dvr and two axii antennas. If your reception inside isn't good it could be the construction or wifi, try turning off the house wifi and see what it does. New wifi routers might be interfering, I have old wifi in my house.
Great review, Your indoor flights are super impressive. Lol I've always wondered what those front nubs were for. Have you tried it with the 3 blade avans? I've got a custom built 85x (Same motors) and it doesnt have the whoop washout issue. I've beat the heck out of it, great frame and motors. One of my favorite whoop builds so far!
Amazing flying, as a new would be flyer it's hard to believe what you can do with this little a little question if you have a minute I lost my antenna after only a few days, what's my best option? Thanks again.
Thank you. If the antenna is gone we need to see if the solder pads are still on the vtx. If they are we can replace the antenna if the pad has been torn off we need to replace the vtx.
Hey just curious, did the audio come original with this little beast, or did you add a mic to it? I'm getting WHOA with the whrrrr whrrrrr of the motors
Hi Nick! Can you give me an advice about what should I buy? I want an outdoor ripper and I'm really stuck between this drone (BETAFPV 85 Pro 2) and the BETAFPV HX 100. What is your opinion? What would be better for an intermediate pilot for outdoor 2s rip?
How good is the battery strap? I have issues finding good straps 100mm or so for my micros. I've been using the iflight straps but I have to cut and glue the buckles back on, but that doesnt last..... do you have a "go to" battery strap for micros?
I haven't found strap with metal buckles are breaking for me. I have recently found the pyrodrone mini strap to be very nice, but I can't say its stronger than others. I do find the iflight strap to be a bit short sometimes.
lol lol. After doing all the flying I thought about turning off telemetry and going again, then on the otherside if someone has this experience they would no they haven't done something wrong and also they know nothing is "defective".
@@NickBurnsFPV absolutely. It's just refreshing to know others have to endure the same things. (Fiance) What the hell is telemetry? Why does it keep saying that! Etc. Love your channel and your disposition is second to none.
Nick, can you recommend some camera options that work well with the Newbeedrones canopie? I have a Caddix EOS2 I'd like to use but I think it's going to take a lot of custom fitting to make work. I'm after good video quality.
Gday Nick, annoying your kids by flying inside all winter hey! you are a legend, dont you think that these bigger type of whoop style 85 size are becoming a bit of a dinosaur no offense to betafpv they have great products, i fly a 65mm brushed and brushless inside its awsome through tight gaps summer and winter.👍🛸
I suspect it will depend on the pilot. Larger platforms are more stable and thus maybe better for those starting to fly inside. Or depends on the environment, less space likely needs smaller with a bit less thrust.
Actually, I’m stuck inside for a good 7 months of the year and am just looking for something to buzz around with. My concern is that it may be too noisy and/ or too fast for a confined area. I also have a DX6i that is DSM2 as well as a DXe. Can I change the receiver in the software to DSM2? My DXe has software downloaded for a Torrent. Do you know if it would fly using that program? I’m an old fart and don’t fly around like a maniac.
I am looking for a 1s 65mm brushless whoop. It is for indoor/ around small garden and back inside. I have the eachine uk65 just looking to upgrade. Thanks Michael.
I expect betafpv to have a new 1s whoop coming very soon. I would hold off until we see what that product is like. Otherwise I would just upgrade the motors to a higher kv.
I been waiting for this from my favorite youtuber I want one so bad. I got a wizard 140x I'll trade ya 😂😂😂 just kidding great video as always thanks Nick
Great flight inside !! Wondering which would you say is more ur fav. This or the Mobula ? I’m about to pull the trigger on one of these. Thanks again 🤘🏼
Thanks for the review, great flight. I have one hesitation is the 5amp ESCs on 2s, most new FCs have been upgraded to 10 or 12 amp to bring out the full potential. Wondering on the washout problem is it props in our props out and if reversed would it help.
the esc limits is most a concern when we have amp hungry motors. I even turtle mode from bad positions outside, typically this would cause the voltage to spike and the esc to burn out, in this case it didn't. This one comes by default props out.
Thanks for the return, (I was just recovering a 1s TinyHawk that took a hard bump last night and locked out one ESC channel for 24 hours, even though BL Heli noted all should be functional, it's running 16500 motors so runs a little hotter). I tend not to use turtle mode when ever possible Apart from needing the exercise, with push on props they tend to loosen up when you over churn them. Looks like I will have to save my pennies and email Santa for a Beta Pro2 now !!
Thanks for the tip I bough a bag of 35volt electrolytic caps thinking the same idea. My TinyHawks frequently "Runaway" on startup or after a flight, which is down to crappy motor connectors and battery sag. Don't have a problem on 2s whoops like the Mob7 or Trashcan. The latter being a complete piece of garbage, can never get rid of the camera shake with odles of tie-wraps or packing
The camera sucks indoors. Even in a fairly well lit room it is super grainy. Get in bright light and is pretty decent. I fly the Emax TInyhawk S in my basement and turn out some of the lights because its too bright. Not with the Beta Pro.
@@patw.6737 In the moment I don't recall the name. I would have to refer you to the betafpv.com bit.ly/BTFPV85P2 product page the specifications should be listed.
Nice color detail on your Thumbnail, getting fancy uh! I got some of these, but your racing abilities are very...very! impressive! Till next time Daddy-O
I have gotten a lot of feedback on the channel via email and FB, it has taken me awhile to try out some of the tips. The light I was tipped to for the background was used on the thumbnail. It took a number of pictures to find one I thought was descent.
I will Never Buy another Quad from BetaFpv. All their Quads are beta, and they all have the same problems, this one i think is just the components from earlier Quads in a larger Frame, For the winter i love the UK65 from eachine same as the 65mm one you fly. anyways i love your video's
No I didn't change camera settings. I suspect the difference is either the skyzone 03O dvr and/or that I shrink the size of the video a bit. The dvr resolution is about 640x480, if we let youtube or any platform increase that size we decrease the pixel density and makes the video look bad. Nice area to fly in, comfy blanked and greenery to play around.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you, i really love this drone just not the camera. maybe it is already the time to upgrade my googles from my aomway to the skyzone 03O :)
@@mazivco Google upgrade will help, there is a limit to the sharpness these cameras can offer. The are better in the house than outside, I suspect that is the depth gets out of focus outside, where inside we are in the sweet spot of focus.
Will never buy another betafpv. Have an 85x with low mileage. Never been able to enjoy it because of weird issues out of the box. Maybe some day I'll install a different flight controller so I can fly indoors.
Yes, there are also pins connecting the vtx to the fc. Sometimes it flys fine other times as soon as I take off, in the goggles it looks like its wobbling or shaking. When that happens I must land immediately because the motors will get hot fast.
So you want to know what the nubs on the front of the frame are for? The frame was originally designed for the 85X, which was intended to be HD from the very beginning. Nick Burns Thanks Nick. Will keep it in mind for a potential high performance version of the Novice I. I like those props too.
powerten the novice is based on what I flew most of this summer and it is a lot of fun (mine is xt30). I even prefer it to this guy, but have tunes and setups for both
Sick new lighting setup Nick. Well done.
thank you. I would like to take credit, but I have gotten good tips and information from many who come to the channel. It has taken me awhile to incorporate.
Black light for the win
well, not really a black light, just a RGB light with a redish purple emitting at a low level.
This looked like too much fun :) Bought one today to deal with the snow outside.
lol. You got snow too? sorry.
Nick Burns been flying this for about a week now and what a blast inside! This is my new favourite indoor flyer supplanting my tiny hawk S and bee drone. So much fun and only 1 destroyed canopy so far :)
@@seewell8168 nice. sounds like your doing well with only one canopy down. :)
How is the image so clean and clear ? 😐
Great skills you have just wow
I want this camera
@@FAQUERETERMAX I think is the rapidfire not the camera :0
I have the same question. I have the Z02 camera, but it has terrible quality. :(
The camera is a a01 from betafpv, comes stock with the 85pro2. I use the skyzone 03O goggles with stock internal dvr and two axii antennas. If your reception inside isn't good it could be the construction or wifi, try turning off the house wifi and see what it does. New wifi routers might be interfering, I have old wifi in my house.
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm gonna try turning the wifi off, it's probably that, I fly next to my router.
got it and love it and now found your video
85 whoops are my favorites at the moment ^_^
Love whoops! Definitely will add this to my whoop fleet. Excellent price!
Weird you had yaw washout? I have been pushing mine and never had the washout? Even from dives.
maybe my approach or technique?
Great review, Your indoor flights are super impressive. Lol I've always wondered what those front nubs were for. Have you tried it with the 3 blade avans? I've got a custom built 85x (Same motors) and it doesnt have the whoop washout issue. I've beat the heck out of it, great frame and motors. One of my favorite whoop builds so far!
I haven't tried 3blade on this setup yet.
I bet the Nubs up front are for mounting a camera.
Man you absolutely rip inside the house!
lol, thanks. I fly inside most days, bed time routine :)
If you go props “in” it should fix the dive problem.
Holy fuck you got that course down pat.
down pat
I hope they send you the elrs version to test!
I did review the 75mm and 65mm versions but not the 85mm.
@@NickBurnsFPV I enjoyed those! I had just bought the new elrs version of the 85 and was hoping to see your opinion of it. No prob. Love thr channel!
The BetaFPV canopies are ridiculously fragile. I stack a clear canopy on top of the colored canopy and it holds up better this way.
Nice, It seems this is a somewhat common practice, I sure missed that tip. :)
Those nobs in front of the frame might be to stick a nano camera in front?
I am told at one time they were designing a dual camera whoop. But that didn't come about.
Hey just curious, did the audio come original with this little beast, or did you add a mic to it? I'm getting WHOA with the whrrrr whrrrrr of the motors
The audio is from a stationary camera. Notice when I go in the basement the audio is silent or very quiet down there.
I'm surprised they're still using these canopies.
me too. They made a more durable one in the hx100 but it didn't come to this one.
Hi Nick! Can you give me an advice about what should I buy? I want an outdoor ripper and I'm really stuck between this drone (BETAFPV 85 Pro 2) and the BETAFPV HX 100. What is your opinion? What would be better for an intermediate pilot for outdoor 2s rip?
I suggest the hx100, the whoop style quads don't fly well outside. The prop guards have a big impact on the outside flight.
Telemetry lost, telemetry recovered, telemetry lost, telemetry recovered. Lol
The newbeedrone canopy in this video or the one designed for just a camera?
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm building a TP3 and needing a good video solution for for the Newbeedrone camera bracket that I have for it.

Nice scary fast flight as always ;-) See you in the Air!
Great video again Nick!
Thanks for the links. I HATE when somebody talks about all kinds of products but can't be bothered to add links to them.
Not a problem. You looking to get one of these? Doing some racing over the winter?
Actually, I’m stuck inside for a good 7 months of the year and am just looking for something to buzz around with. My concern is that it may be too noisy and/ or too fast for a confined area. I also have a DX6i that is DSM2 as well as a DXe. Can I change the receiver in the software to DSM2? My DXe has software downloaded for a Torrent. Do you know if it would fly using that program? I’m an old fart and don’t fly around like a maniac.
@@kodak_jack We would need to buy the dsmx/2 version, but yes it will bind with spektrum radios that do dsmx or dsm2.
Sounds good. I wasn’t sure because the typical DSMX/ DSM2 designation just says DSMX. Thanks.
@@kodak_jack I am unaware of a receiver that can't run both. There could be, I just haven't seen it.
I'm getting mine tomorrow 😊 Do you flash all your whoops ESCs (especially this one) to 48khz? Will it perform better?
I have two on 48khz. I don't have this one anymore. I don't think the 48khz benefit is as great on 110x motors.
Great review. Awesome rippin!
You still using the SkyZone are you planning on trying the HDO2?
I am. I would like to try the HDO2, I suspect the stopping point would be the dvr hasn't improved. But in hands is always best.
I am looking for a 1s 65mm brushless whoop. It is for indoor/ around small garden and back inside. I have the eachine uk65 just looking to upgrade. Thanks Michael.
Stay there.... I have also uk65 and it's my best whoop with my beta85 pro2
@@PanagiotisKampakos Thanks for the reply
I expect betafpv to have a new 1s whoop coming very soon. I would hold off until we see what that product is like. Otherwise I would just upgrade the motors to a higher kv.
@@NickBurnsFPV if it is gonna be lighter, 15 to 18 grams, I am gonna also upgrade my 65mm whoop
Holly crab. You fly so fast
I like to go fast :)
Amazing flying. 💕💕
Thank you.
Me too but throw in tinyhawk freestyle. Lol
Inside, I think my favorite is a custom "mobula7". 1102 1000kv motors with gemfan 3bladed props on the trashcan frame.
@@NickBurnsFPV When will we see that one?
@@cmonzz For my flight style and space the 1102 motor has more prop control, I use a 3d print camera mount and trashcan frame and crazybee fc/esc.
Anyone hear what Nick said?? No idea here. Mesmerized by that rip🙃
lol too funny
I blew my board for no reason ad a cap to your main battery line and it will give you some pice of mind
Just FYI adding a cap did not improve the situation
Anyone know exactly what battery he was using? I didn't hear him say in the video. Just trying to compare weight, thanks
Batteries used is at 0:35
Mom says try changing the background blue light to a red light and see how it looks.
Blue team rules
Red does attract the eyes, but blue has to rule :)
hey whats the outro song you use?
Not sure. I would need to look it up again, been several years, its likely part of the youtube audio library.
Did u ever get the tp3 by kabab?
Not yet, I keep looking but it goes out of stock so fast. Bob has mentioned holding one back for me.
Nice video.... as always. :-D
Very powerful!👍🤘
what an indoor rip
You didn't list the thingiverse camera adapter...
search thingiverse for thump2010.
Dope
The camera sucks indoors. Even in a fairly well lit room it is super grainy. Get in bright light and is pretty decent. I fly the Emax TInyhawk S in my basement and turn out some of the lights because its too bright. Not with the Beta Pro.
Hey, is that the Stock the camera?
yes
Thank you. What camera is this?
@@patw.6737 In the moment I don't recall the name. I would have to refer you to the betafpv.com bit.ly/BTFPV85P2 product page the specifications should be listed.

Nice color detail on your Thumbnail, getting fancy uh! I got some of these, but your racing abilities are very...very! impressive!
Till next time Daddy-O
I have gotten a lot of feedback on the channel via email and FB, it has taken me awhile to try out some of the tips. The light I was tipped to for the background was used on the thumbnail. It took a number of pictures to find one I thought was descent.
4:52 wth ?? amazing
Not sure. You have a question about what happens at 4:52? If so that is yaw washout and a recovery. A good many of this whoops don't dive well.
I will Never Buy another Quad from BetaFpv. All their Quads are beta, and they all have the same problems, this one i think is just the components from earlier Quads in a larger Frame, For the winter i love the UK65 from eachine same as the 65mm one you fly. anyways i love your video's
First 👍 👍👍 👍👍 👍. Awesome review buddy. You rock.
First first, but actually second this time. :)
@@NickBurnsFPV I am ☹️.
did you change something in the camera setting? my 85 pro 2 video dosent look that good (ua-cam.com/video/uPPTBD-moR4/v-deo.html)
Is that the one with pins connecting the flight controller to the esc?
Yes, there are also pins connecting the vtx to the fc.
Sometimes it flys fine other times as soon as I take off, in the goggles it looks like its wobbling or shaking. When that happens I must land immediately because the motors will get hot fast.
@@ponowai1 boy that is strange. The inconsistency is hard to troubleshoot.
