Iddo van der Giessen (1995) is a concert organist and church musician. A native of The Netherlands, he is presently Cantor and Organist at the Protestant congregation of the Goede Herderkerk in Rotterdam. He graduated with a 9 out of 10 for his Master of Music degree at the Royal Conservatory, having been student of Jos van der Kooy. Iddo completed his education in Liturgical Music at the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. He participated in lessons and masterclasses with Ronald de Jong, Bert Mooiman, Geert Bierling, Hayo Boerema, Anton Pauw, Leo van Doeselaar and Ludger Lohmann. He recorded CDs in Rotterdam and Haarlem (St. Bavo) and regularly publishes articles about (church) music, liturgy and history.

It's very interesting you use the word noble, because some historians say that the first time this piece was played was for the funeral service of the Queen of Poland, in 1727.

Hervorragend gespielt! Endlich mal jemand, der sich traut, das Diktat des Einheitsplenums zu verlassen und stattdessen Manualwechsel und Registerwechsel macht. Nur so kommt die Komposition richtig zur Geltung!

Fijne registratie bij de start van de Fuga. Zo hoor ik t niet vaak. Opregistreren naar plenum historische praktijk of eigen interpretatie?

Bedankt! Het is een eigen aanpak van de fuga. Na het plenum in het praeludium vind ik het een verademing om het fraaie lyrische fugathema met een enkele prestant te beginnen. Vandaar!
