This is the peak of guitar music. The impeccable technique of David Russell, and the magnificent instrument built by Dammann. Perfection in its purest form.
David ... we cannot thank you enough for these marvelous Bach Lute Suites. You have shown us these most beautiful places and given us your magnificent performances ... it is such a wonderful gift to lovers of the guitar, Spain and Portugal. Words fail, but thank you SO very much !
I have had the pleasure of hearing David in live concerts from time to time ever since the early 1980's. He was an amazing revelation then and at this point David has reached the absolute pinnacle of musical mastery. The refined articulation in the Prelude and the fabulous ornamentation of the Loure (not to mention its overall conception) were to die for. Thank you for this and all of your other Omni Foundation / Bach recordings.
same here. I think I heard him for the first time in 1982 when we were all much younger, and back then the sound he got out of his instrument and his musicianship where fabulous. That he has actually continued to improve from that level is astonishing.

Yes, young Tina S is a phenomenal (primarily) electric guitarist (I've seen her videos too) and yes, her Moonlight Sonata cover is very impressive. As a veteran (75) guitar player, I have not seen or heard playing like this before. David has a rare gift of clarity, technique and such understanding of the music. The consistency of his lovely rounded tone it not an easy thing to accomplish and I commend him for his dedication. Thanks for this brilliant series and to you great locations and explanations of each venue. Please let us know when you are coming to the uk again. Kind regards

I think even Bach would’ve been fascinated at the level of musicianship with which David plays. Just absolutely perfect in every way. Thank you Mr Russell.
I was waiting for this one since you announced these Bach recordings! Oh how we gonna enjoy, David, thanks for doing this in these difficult times, you're a hero 💪

Oh, let me just pick up my jaw from the floor… I have never heard or seen anything approaching David Russel’s playing before. Such a perfect technique combined with sensitivity and understanding of the piece… Unbelievably beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing!!
David Russell IS the John Coltrane of Classical Guitar: muscular virtuosity & cantabile phrasing. The classical guitarist with the roundest & most natural Baroque ornamentation ever, not just here but also on David Russell's Silvius Leopold Weiss Lute Suite transcriptions/performances.
Superb 👏👏 Thank you Maestro Russell and the Omni Foundation for a marvelous Bach series. It is so heartening to see talented musicians offer their music worldwide via streaming during these challenging times 🎶
