❤BIBLE VERSES OF THE DAY❤
ISAIAH 40:31 KJV
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Amen love 😘
My fave is John 16: 33 (NIV)
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Because of this movie, The Beatles 'Twist and Shout" came back on the AT40 charts for the first time in 21 years, peaking at #23.
Twist and shout isn’t actually the Beatles. It was written and performed by the Isley brothers originally and the Beatles tried to copied it successfully
Every license plate in the movie is an Easter egg. There's "MMOM" = Mr. Mom, "VCTN" = (National Lampoon's) Vacation, "TBC" = The Breakfast Club, and "4FBDO" = For Ferris Bueller's Day Off. These are all movies written by John Hughes.
19:40 You're spot on about the characters here. Ferris is just having a fun day, but Cameron goes through a transformation.
It's true. Ferris is the main character to the extent that he's the catalyst for everything that happens. But it's Cameron who grows and changes, and in that sense the story is really about him.
Two other great movies set in Chicago are The Blues Brothers (1980) and The Fugitive (1993). Both are popular with YT reactors.
*_Also: The Breakfast Club, Child's Play and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation!_*
@@daniellanctot6548 Yeah, Breakfast Club is a great movie, but it doesn't exactly feature Chicago city landmarks.
All of John Hughes' movies are set in Chicago. That city was like its own character.
HIGH FIDELITY would actually be the perfect follow up movie to Ferris in a double bill.
Definitely the Blues Brothers. While part of the Fugitive was filmed in Chicago, much of it was filmed in North Carolina. Christmas Vacation was filmed mostly in Colorado and California. The Griswold's house is located on the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank. And wasn't The Breakfast Club set entirely inside a school? The Untouchables (1987) was filmed in Chicago.
The chemistry between Alan Ruck (Cameron) and Matthew Broderick (Ferris) came from the fact that they were friends before the film was made. Matthew was the lead in a play called Biloxi Blues by Neil Simon on Broadway, and Alan was also in the play. They were in the show for quite a long run, as Matthew won a Tony Award for his performance. Matthew would later reprise the role in the film version, but Alan didn't. When this was filmed Alan was 29, Matthew was 23, and Mia Sara (Sloane) was 19. Oh...the Mr. Peterson voice that Ruck uses was actually his impression of the director of the play Biloxi Blues, Gene Saks...a voice he would use to get laughs from Matthew during the run of the play.
Originally, although John Hughes claimed it was specifically created for Matthew Broderick, one of the first actors approached to play Ferris was Anthony Michael Hall who had been in most of John Hughes's movies. Hall played Rusty Griswold in National Lampoon's Vacation, Ted The Geek in Sixteen Candles, Brian Johnson in The Breakfast Club, and Gary Wallace in Weird Science. When Hall turned the role down due to other projects, Hughes never approached Hall for another film.
This was Mia Sara's second film...her first was Ridley Scott's Legend which starred Tom Cruise and Tim Curry. That film was not successful, although it is now considered a cult classic.
Since the film, both Alan Ruck and Matthew Broderick have made "Ferris Bueller" style commercials. In 2012, Matthew did a Honda CR-V commercial as himself but with Ferris overtones. In 2020, Alan Ruck did a similar one for Liftmaster, using the garage where the Ferrari was housed.
Spending the extra money to put the Star Wars theme over the lot attendants living their best lives was perfect.
YOU HEARTLESS WENCH!!! that line gets me everytime.. and its not in the edit.. 😄😄😄🙃🙃🙃☹️☹️☹️
Great reaction regardless
Remember seeing this on a beautiful summer day in the 80's. Wish I could go back. Another Matt Broderick movie you should see is "Wargames" it's another 80's classic.
I'm glad you enjoyed the film. It's in my top 10 all time. I was 13 when this came out and I'm from Chicago so I'm pretty much obligated to love it. But it's great that you appreciated the subtle choices John Hughes makes regarding humor. He trusts that his audience is smart enough to get it and he was one of the first fiilm makers to portray younger people from their own point of view, rather than just living in the adults' world.
Yayyy, you're back. 🎉🥳 Miss your reactions.
Welcome Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most, if not all John Hughes movies take place in Chicago.
Alan Ruck (Cameron) and Matthew Broderick (Ferris) had previously worked together on the stage and so Broderick recommended Ruck for the role of his best friend. Because of their prior comradery, they could already play off each other beautifully. A casting director's dream.
Mathew Broderick has been in some classic movies.
War Games (where he once again plays a teenager)
Glory (which always makes me cry)
Adorable ❤
I've watched several of your reactions and this was actually the perfect movie for you to react to, and you did it beautifully.
Another great reaction beautiful 😍
Such a beautiful reactor. Your reactions are always enjoyable to watch ❤
There was a ska punk band from California in the 90s and 2000s called Save Ferris.
Another great Matthew Broderick film is WarGames (1983).
Some other great movies filmed in Chicago are The Blues Brothers (1980) and The Untouchables (1987).
The Fugitive (1993) and The Sting (1973) were partially filmed in Chicago.
What's awesome is that I unfortunately missed you in Chicago for the C2E2 con but you're now watching Ferris Beuller, a Chicago setting plot! I'll take it!
The high school scenes were shot at Glenbrook North in Chicago. That's where Director/writer John Hughes went to HS. All his movies are set in the near North suburbs of Chicago.
Hey Cali.... the fictional restaurant "Chez Quis" is a play on California pizza/buffet chain Shakey's. 😀
The scene is also an homage to a scene in The Blues Brothers which featured another fake bistro called Chez Paul. The portion of the parade scene with the synchronized dancers is also an homage to a scene from The Blues Brothers.
Great Reaction.....
Mathew Broderick was in some other Fun/Kool 1980's movies...... Wargames (1983), Ladyhawke (1985), Project X (1987), Bilioxi Blues (1988).....
DopeFlick..GreatReaction..Smile And Style On Point As Always..Thanks..Stay Up..Stay Blessed.
💯thank you so much!
John Hughes, the writer / director also wrote Home Alone.
we missed you , really enjoyed your reaction
bright young lady enjoy your reviews...
What a classic 😂 Jeannie never really wanted Ferris to get caught, she just really wanted him to feel it😎😂I had to raise a son and daughter of my own to finally understand it 😂she just wanted him, for once, to feel the heat, instead of his perfect way😂👍 siblings be crazy 🤣
Great reaction, thanks!
An interesting bookend to this is the movie is “Election,” in which Broderick plays the public school employee being driven insane by one of his students.
Thank you!
Most of Director John Hughes' movies are usually set in Chicago. Planes Trains and Automobiles, Home Alone, Uncle Buck, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club are some of Hughes' famous movies set in the Chicago area along with Ferris Bueller.
Matthew Brodrick who'd played Ferris Bueller would go on to play a more serious role three years later in the Civil War classic 'Glory' that featured Morgan Freeman and a young Denzel Washington who'd won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role.
Cameron and Jeannie have great arcs. Ferris needs no arc. He's fully formed.
great to see you posting reactions xx
Most of the films that John Hughes wrote and/or directed are set in Chicago and the north suburbs.
Andrew Davis is another director that films in his hometown...most famously The Fugitive (1991, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones). He also filmed Stony Island, Code of Silence, Above The Law, Chain Reaction in Chicago.
Some of the more famous films made in Chi-Town:
The Blues Brothers
The Break Up
Batman Begins
The Untouchables
Eight Men Out
Backdraft
Barbershop
Chicago (musical)
High Fidelity
Cadillac Records
The 1992 Mike Myers comedy Wayne's World was set in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, IL...but filmed in Toronto. The 1985 movie Adventures In Babysitting had a few scenes actually filmed in Chicago, but the rest was filmed in Toronto.
It’s crazy what they did with 80s technology.
Have missed your reactions😁This was good👍
My son works in Chicago and I lived there for a year back in the day..you are spot on with your observation..Ferris…Matthew Broderick..works on Broadway a lot..his with..Jessica..was the LEAD in Sex and the City..The principal…is in Beetlejuice…when this came out….ask anybody back then…and they wanted to spend time with Ferris’ girlfriend..for that time period, she was considered hot..
There are so many movies shot in Chicago, two that come to mind are Primal Fear and Love Jones.
Hey, welcome back!
10:32 I don't know why, but for some reason you recognizing the Pac-Man death sound and mimicking it just made my afternoon that little bit more wonderful. 😍😊😊
That Ferrari is so rare the one in the film is a replica . Today one in that condition would likely sell for around 20 million , at an auction .
Great reaction
Chicago movies you should see:
1.Cooley High
2.Blues Brothers
3.Bad boys (1983) not Will Smith’s (“Cameron” from this movie was in it too)
4.Adventures in babysitting
5.Running Scared
6.Wildcats
7.Judgement night
8.The Batman Trilogy
9.Backdraft
Matthew Broderick (Ferris) also starred in “Glory” with Denzel and Morgan Freeman.
This movie was very popular.
The spin-off movie is being filmed. It focuses on the carpark attendants' adventure in the Ferrari.
so it was Matthew Brodrick who played ferris bueller. if you want to see another fun action packed movie try watching Godzilla 1998 he is the lead role in that one as well.
I think WarGames is even better IMHO, as another Matthew Broderick acting vehicle.
5:26 - you'll notice what Ferris is wearing when he picks up Sloan - he LATER played Inspector Gadget.. Talk about foreshadowing
Great movie 🎬 😊❤
You got to checkout Matthew Broderick’s two best films: WarGames (1983) and Glory (1989). By the way, Matthew Broderick (Ferris) was also the voice of adult Simba in The Lion King.
With practice, the water drip cheek tap is possible. My son drove my aunt crazy with it one Thanksgiving.🤣
Loved your reaction, I always do. You were mentioning Chicago, you should react to Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring John Candy and Steve Martin. Also, Matthew Broaderick (Ferris) starred in Cable Guys with Jim Carrey. Thank you, hope to see your reactions to these movies.
You: I've never seen a movie filmed in Chicago.
Me: [clutches chest] Most of my favorite movies were filmed in or set in Chicago.
The Blues Brothers (my all-time favorite)
The Breakfast Club
Uncle Buck
Running Scared
Candyman
Adventures in Babysitting
Home Alone
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
The Fugitive
Your hair looks very nice.
We get a glimpse of a possible future Ferris in the funny and smart Alexander Payne film "Election" (1999), where Broderick plays a high school teacher who has to deal with a hyper-confident student (Reese Witherspoon in a star-making performance) running for class president. She annoys him the way Ferris annoyed his principal. Great film.
You are so smart and beautiful lady.
It was fun to watch you react to a classic🤣 Still waiting for you to watch Euro Trip if you haven't seen that yet👈👈
1. Alan Ruck was 29 when filming.
2. Charlie Sheen didn't sleep for 48 hours prior to his scene to get into character,
3. Ah, the days when MTV played videos.
4. IRL Broadrick and Grey had a thing going during the shoot.
5. Not pealing out in front of Rooney would have stopped him from going after Ferris.
6. They have a doggie door, odds are they have a dog. DA
7. This was John Hughes' ode to his hometown of Chicago. John Hughes.😇
8. I'm not in line to be his "best friend" because I wouldn't let him walk all over and/or Bull$hit me.
9. GOOF: It's awfully late in the day to have a full bus load of kids.
10. That same school was also used for "Uncle Buck" and "The Breakfast Club".
His name is Charlie Sheen
Great movie. You should see another Matthew Broderick movies like War Games and Lady Hook. Fun Fact during the filming of this movie Matthew Broderick and the actress who plays is sister were dating at the time.
You can watch Cameron’s actor playing one of the brothers in Succession. Nice reaction 😊
*_Ferris Bueller's Day Off: Or the Gen-X version of "Carpe Diem"!_* 😁👍
6:03 - *_... And the 80's version of a GoFundMe!_* 😂
11:47 - *_Oh you have NO idea how (That actor's) takes the creep level UP!_* 😖
Here is a short list of movies filmed in Chicago:
The Fugitive (1993)
While You Were Sleeping (1995)
Love Jones (1997)
The Negotiator (1998)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Blues Brothers 1980
8:12 I had a friend in grade school who could do that. I never figured it out. I don't even know what it's called to look it up.
Glad to see you do another movie, i enjoy your reactions, can you please do The art of racing in the rain. If you are a dog person you will love it
How funny,my sister and I just watched this movie last night 😆
You have a beautiful smile 😉
A movie in a kind of similar vein is Baby's Day Out. If you've never seen it, it worth the time to watch it. And the baby is cuteness overload!
Mentioning the editing, they only used about 30% of the filmed scenes in the final film. Apparently, Ferris is a completely different character if they showed the other 70%.
This movie always makes me want to watch LEGEND, with Tom Cruise and Tim Curry! You should check it out!
Love your reactions btw
Nearly every John Hughes film is set in or around his hometown of Chicago.
*Please* watch Matthew Broderick again in _Project X_ and _War Games._ Maybe _Election._
Heeeeeey I haven’t see you in a minute
If you could roll a car's miles back by running it in reverse every shady used car place would do it.
If you want movies based in Chicago, then watch just about any John Hughes movie. He bases most of his movies in Chicago.
We children from the 70's and 80's can easily make water noises... my daughter figured out how to whistle and i said ok the is next "water drop" she looked perplexed as all get out then wanted yo look in my mouth like wtf
Also you see a dog door that size it's not an invitation to enter its a warning of the size of the dog lol 😂
Classic movie 🔥
We wouldn't have Phineas and Ferb without this movie
💪😁👍
15:59 300, not thousand.
What a treat for an old man to watch such a beautiful young lady with such a beautiful laugh and smile through this movie. With your looks, you should be on the big screen.
THIS IS A AWESOME HILARIOUS 🤣🤣🤣 CLASSIC COMEDY I MISS THIS MOVIE BOO ❤️❤❤❤ I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW MEET YOU ONE DAY BEAUTIFUL ARTIST 🎨 TO ARTIST I DRAW AND MAKE PORTRAITS TOO LOVE ❤️ HAVE A BLESS DAY 🙏🌹
The car had 300 miles on it, not 3,000
No, you can't drive in Reverse and reduce mileage.
Comment
MJ: You've been TWOCCED by...
nice criminals.
I heard you were feeling ill
Headache fever and a chill
I came to restore your pluck
Cause I'm the nurse who likes to...!...
The valet joyride: Back when Star Wars references were actually clever, and not the invasive cultural weed they are today.
Pull your tongue to the back of your mouth, then purse your lips and gently tap or flick your cheek while moving your tongue forward.
It sounds just like water dripping.
The surprise twist is that Ferris isn't real. He's someone Cameron invented in his own imagination as the "bad influence" that forced him to do all those things he wouldn't otherwise do.
another delusional believer.
All of John Hughes films were filmed in chicago......... Ferris bueller........... 16 candles.......... The Breakfast Club............. weird science........... pretty in pink........ Saint Elmo's Fire all filmed around the same time........ check them out
There are TONS of movies shot in Chicago. ALL OF JOHN HUGHES' MOVIES. Plus
BLUES BROTHERS
HIGH FIDELITY
THE FUGITIVE
EIGHT MEN OUT
ORDINARY PEOPLE
THE STING
Doesn't do anything crazy or unusual cinematically? What about Ferris talking directly to the audience right through the entire movie?? That was highly unusual for the time (mid 80s).
Cut out too many great lines hon. A reaction to a jam packed classic like this should be at least 40 minutes long.
