- In this episode of this series, we will be adding a factory OEM color-matched bodykit along with Carbon Fiber decklid spoiler and diffuser. We will show you step-by-step to transform this Type-S from good to best.

The car looks sharp without them but it's strange that my 2019 ASPEC has side skirts but the 2021 Type S doesn't. I know it's different generations of TLX but it's just not right.
Since I live on the East Coast in snow country, I am glad that additional lower body skirts are not stock, though I do wish that splash guards were stock. We have to live with nearly 6 months of crap road conditions, sand and salt here in New England. Also why I didn't buy the lighter weight summer tires/wheel option.

@@A1.4U i would not recommend the side skirts. The car looks zoomy enough for me. Since mine is Tiger Eye Pearl, I get lots of appreciative comments from ladies of a certain age.

They are OEM. Honda almost always makes aero/bodywork bits for their cars.
I wish you guys were around in 2015 when I tried to put the oem.body kit on my new accord. It was a challenge. These videos are very well done and I will be watching them whenever the type-s I’m waiting for is in my driveway.

I installed the rear under spoiler with 3M double sided tape only. It’s pretty secure.
Didn’t want to drill in case other body kits come out in the future.
I did it with the car on the ground. Turned the front wheels to access the screws.
The hardest part was trying to put the rear fender liner back until I figured out that there was an access panel to all the 4 fasteners on the bottom.
Body kit makes the car look like it’s lowered.

Yeah Acura needs to work with a tuner shop so all aftermarket parts can be warrantied, I plan on getting one in March & would definitely want a bigger turbo in it but if something goes wrong Acura will deny warranty.

The TLX looks fly. Excellent job. Personally - I love the gloss look of the rear deck spoiler without carbon fiber. I do love the side skirt spoilers. And the wheelbase looks great. I dont see any need for you to change it. For the front - I would say add fog lights. This is more for safety. I am a big fan of fog lights. I find it a shame that car manufacturers are not including this on most or all cars.
Thats my personal take on it, but as it is now, the car really looks fly. Enjoy your masterpiece !!!

I remember in the late early 2000s when you saw the glorious honda factory label typeS or type R they mean business!! because the label let you know it had a whopping 200hp+ a big jump from the normal model which had 150hp 🙊🙊😭😭 but hey the most important thing about those models that had the k20 from Honda would be so much potential for massive Boost !! And that was appreciated!!

Yes they’re interchangeable body parts
Yes, all except the carbon fiber diffuser but all you have to buy is the rear diffuser from the Type-S and the carbon diffuser will go right on top of it.

Nice, the Type S was a full second quicker to 60 than your time in the Accord 2.0T, and *two* seconds quicker than your time the A-spec AWD.
You're comparing a 30k car to a 52k "performance" car. With a 22k difference in price, a one second difference isn't much. Dump 5k into the 2.0t accord and you'll have a car just as quick as the type-s for still, 15k+ less. Especially outside of performance the type-s missing features the accord has, which is a real shame. Type-s struggles because of its weight. Hopefully a tune really opens this car up. I was really hyped for this type-s return but it's such a let down to me. Slowest car in the segment. Brand new generation and already behind the competition.
@@drones9667 you're not wrong, but you're forgetting that it's not just 1 second faster but also benefits from a double-wishbone suspension, AWD with a torque-vectoring rear axle AND adaptive dampers, all of which add weight but significantly improve handling.
They could've easily gone with a Mcpherson strut, Honda's Real Time AWD, and standard shocks if they only cared about acceleration. But there's more to performance than just drag racing, you better learn that.

As someone who has never worked on cars, should I try to do this myself in my backyard? Or just pay my local mechanic shop to install all my mods 😂, I wanna get the rear side skirts, mid side skirts, illuminated floor entry panel, all blacked out logos on back like “SH-AWD” and “TLX”, a air intake, and maybe a heated steering wheel

You guys are right! I been watching too much Lamborghini that when I see 13.5, it looks slow. But I guess it fits in its class. Why didn’t they make it lighter atleast so it can atleast hit 12’s??? Either way, BEAUTIFUL CAR
Chassis...great handling car. They wanted reliability, take it to the track and it won't blow up. Aftermarket will take care of the hp

Beautiful upgrades. They need to make another Accord type R but that will probably outshine the Type S. Idk why they didn't take the DCT from the RLX and shave some weight from this car then add the SH-AWD to make it more desirable and lighter. It's big, slow( for it's class), and beautiful
@UA-cam Sucks the problem I have with the IS specifically the 350 is the same with the Nissan 370z they have outdated engines but are always pushed to be sold. Although there is a new Z and IS 500 is practically the new ISF but what about the weak V6. Also it's weird that the most expensive trim has less features in the back versus it's tech trim. Yeah the IS V6 is N/A so getting more HP requires more work but they could at least up date the engine or something. Most people I've seen in the Type S get a 0-60 in the mid to late 5 secs which is okay but it's heavy in the A6/A7/S6/S7 and 5 series range that you forget it's the size of a 5 series but inside is a 3 series.
@UA-cam Sucks Yes upgrading this car with a down pipe and stuff makes it faster. That's obvious when they added carbon fiber and lighter wheels it does 0-60 in 5.24 to 5.29 secs. At the same time. You tune and upgrade the others you still have a slower car. Not to mention for 54k you have less features in the back versus it's competition outside of IS

Wonder how come the few other 0-60 videos out there all were able to eventually achieve high 4 sec 0-60 mph runs.. maybe because fl9rida humidity or what could it be ?? Because based on other 0-60 times shoukd be able to do a 13.3 at 104 maybe.. 1/4 times are all determined based on 60ft so it must be something to do with the launch. I think 13.5 will be the average but def few lower 13sec runs should be capable

Just a little disappointed with the acceleration times even with the optional tires. was hoping at least for sub 5 seconds. It sounds amazing, and it looks great especially with the new kits.

@@lrod312 ECU is pretty hard to crack they still working on it to this day, but there is a tune available for around 380 along with full bolt ons

Sorry to say this Mike but I don't like what you have done with the audio over the past couple of episodes, we hear your voice from the right channel and Jon's on the left plus there are times when Jon is working to the right of the camera but his voice is still coming from the left channel, I use headphones for YT and this is very disorienting, we had these sort of effects back in the 70's when stereo TV first came out but it's not for this day and age as the novelty of it all is long gone, please change it back Mike as IMO it's spoiling the enjoyment of a fantastic channel 🙏👍 John UK.

All these carbon pieces are dealer accessories that you can purchase with the car that gets installed at the dealer. Why would you need to take it here? It's simple stuff.

To an extent but I hate how small the rear can look. Love the look of the car except that. Seeing it in person proportions just a tad bit off but still looks good regardless. Really wish the car was lighter tho.
It's a beautiful looking car. Too bad it's not as fast as the cars in its class. Hopefully it'll be easy to squeeze more power out of the engine without changing the internals.

Am I weird to think the Type S has a better exhaust note than the IS500 even though the person who worked on the LC500/LFA designed the IS500’s note?

They are dealer installed accessories per the Acura.com website and you have to pay installation fees.

FYI, I got my carbon fiber bits factory installed (inside and out), as that's the way the dealer ordered it from Acura. I'm going to add the side spoilers and blacked out chrome badges all around.

Even if it does, it won't change the numbers. These small turbo motors run out of breath after 6k.

Type-S front splitter can not work with the front underbody kit
The more I see the exterior carbon fiber pieces the more I want it… I may be forced to do it because I’ll keep thinking about it til I do.
Great looking and sounding car but once again slower than the competition (S4, G70, StingerGT, M340i..) Supposedly faster than the S4 on the debut/track testing but that’s been determined to be not true.
Its all in the handling. The hp will be taken care of with the aftermarket tune.

@@delibrain916 you flash it back. Hondata/k-tuner are great tuners. Look at all the honda engines, you dont see any issues with tuned engines. The tlx has forged internals can probably take 1000 whp.

You can pick that up at your local Acura dealership and they do come pre-painted

I saw this same Acura TLX Type S with color but different rims in Albuquerque, NM at Acura dealership. Car looked badass but expensive at $53k.
After you add the summer tire/wheel upgrade, all the carbon fiber accessories plus dealer install fees you're at 60K+ before taxes etc

$53k is the MSRP and honestly a bargain right now, most dealerships are marking it up and charging over $60k for them. Extremely scummy
