    Nice video. I work with alot of critical charge systems. Some as low as 3.5 oz, and I always charge through a ball valve from the tank. No manifold in the loop. That way if it needs 4.75 oz, I know thats exactly whats in there. Cuz I hate wondering when it comes to how much is in the hoses, or how much I got out.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  3 роки тому

      That's how I charge R290 units👍👍. I use a digital food scale in grams.

    • @winstonwright3613
      @winstonwright3613 3 роки тому +2

      @@HVACRSurvival I sprung for that Mastercool 98202 scale that NorCal Dave posted about. Works well for charging the R600a units I work with. Its leaked from the hose connection at the ball valve since day 1 though and I need to contact them. Works well other than that. I use the ball valve method on my R134A units also tho cuz they don't take much charge. Got the idea from Chris HVACR Videos.

      @@winstonwright3613 That looks like the kit I have but it's not built into the weight scale. I have two different bottle types and that scale looks like it would only work with one type of bottle? The other style of R290 bottle True mfg. sends for warranty looks and connects the same as a hand torch bottle.

    • @winstonwright3613
      @winstonwright3613 3 роки тому

      @@HVACRSurvival Ya, only the 7/16 thread bottles with the re-sealing multi use tap on top will screw into their adapter. Enviro-Safe sells single 6oz 600a and 290 cans in that style in addition to the other style, and Mastercool sells both refrigerants in the 12oz re-sealable can, but only in 12 packs. However, you CAN use it with the other cans that have the puncture top and the slightly bigger threads. Because the port that is attached to the scale... the one that their "hex adapter" screws onto is a standard 1/4 flare hvac port. The "hex adapter" just has the female 7/16 threads (and a post in the middle to depress the valve on those cans) on one of its ends, and a 1/4 female flare on the other end. That way the bottle can stand up on the scale screwed into the adapter. So.... I put together a can tap for the puncture top bottles, and an angled fitting to connect the flare output of that tap to the flare on the scale.... and viola ... now I can have one of the other style cans connected to the scale as well; suspended upside down and firmly attached to the scale so it reads well and I don't need any contraptions to hold the can. That 1/4 flare fitting they have built into the scale platform makes all of this possible, which is why I love it. Its worked really well. Lemme know if you want me to email you any pictures or better explanations of any of what I described. I couldn't find any detailed explanations of any of what I just described when I looked around. I just had to buy it and figure it all out.

    Make way for the youtube police: You never Re-Use a pencil drier is what I was told...

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  3 роки тому

      The rule I was always told was "anytime you open a system you're supposed to replace the dryer". Vacuum pumps don't remove moisture in poe systems, only filter dryers can. Like I mentioned in the video, on this job I didn't really open the system Other than to install the taps and leave it open so that's why I cut corners. A lot of times it never seems to make a difference and I was right in the middle of lunch and didn't want to be in the way any more than I already was. Thanks 4 watching👍👍
