We didnt tire of them. When JFK was assassinated, it seemed somehow disrespectful to produce or attend cheerful movies. The same thing happened after 9/11.
Donald O' Conner - more than a dancer..... more than a singer.....more than the sum of all of his talent which is enormous! Donald O' Conner was an entertainer extraordinaire! He interpreted human feeling and emotion in all he created on screen & stage! Thank you so much for your sincere contributions over your career! Miss him and those like him!
Frustration has never been more genuinely portrayed on film, than by this expressive dance routine by the Great Donald O' Conner. Actor's speaking word's penned by brilliant writers with their best of acting skills could not match this depiction of downhearted frustration. Donald could incorporate his surroundings into His dancing routines better than any other. Giving us comedy and drama, tragedy and melancholy and every emotion under the sun or moon! For me, the greatest pure dancer to have lived.
Donald was the real deal, period. You can't help but love him, so stinking adorable and loveable. My favorite of them all. 2.54 minutes of pure bliss 🥰
Donald was one of my all time favorites , he was superb dancer and has the best singing voice of all the Movie dancers. There was another under appreciated Dancer who was maybe a few years older then Donald and his name was Dan Daily as a matter of fact Dan played Donald’s father in one of my favorite musicals “ Theres no Business Like Show Business “. Love these old clips keep them coming, please.
Not so fun fact - after Donald and his first wife gwen got divorced that year, 1954, she started dating Dan daily, all while the movie was being filmed, I think they even got married.
@@valentinelove8029 She was having an affair with Dan Daily. I'm sure that was completely awkward. Especially taking a slap across the face, actually twice. If you think about it. Glad he found Gloria, Gwen was evil.
I think is the best tap number I've seen Donald do from a sheer tap footwork point of view: precision, clarity and lightness. (Though certainly not the most entertaining.) I was a professional tap dancer, which doesn't make me an absolute authority, but I do have some idea of what I'm talking about.
I know he always played the second guy to Fred, Gene and a few others, but to be honest, I always thought Don O'Connor was as good as the so called best of the best.
Shame that Universal had no clue how to shoot a musical number (compared to the folks at MGM). This same number would've been so much more exciting had it been filmed by a different director (Donen?) at Metro...
Top of that extraordinary group, yes! Donald O’Connor The Nicholas brothers Gene Kelly Fred Astaire Bill “Bojangles” Robinson Ann Miller and Ray Bolger and Bob Fosse as balletic echoes
O'Connor wasn't blacklisted during the McCarthy era. He worked steadily from the late 1940s through the 50s, the entire time this Communist witch-hunt was taking place.
The grace of Astaire and the energy of Kelly. I loved watching this man dance.
well put!
I was thinking the same as well. And he was so talented. An absolute joy to watch.
O'Connor may have danced along side some great men, but I only ever had eyes for him.
Finally someone who feels the same way as me !
@@naomeefreedman9194 me too. He was the best of all of them and such a personality that just made you feel good.
Abso effin lutely
You said it better thankyou
You said it ;) Some girls love Kelly, others Astaire... but out of all those guys, Donald O'Connor has my heart
he is one of the most gorgeous men i've ever seen
I couldn't agree more 👍
Eleanor Powell and Donald O'Connor, the best, no question.
I'm finding myself seriously attracted to this man right now :) i just love Donald!!
Welcome to the club lol
Me, too. Most underrated dancer ever. Love this beautiful man.
It is such a darn shame he became into his own as a dancer in the 1950's just when the public was tiring of musicals. He was one special talent!
I agree

An excellent example of D.O'Connors tremendous talent....
Yes, yes AND yes. A great dancer, singer, actor AND pissesed great charm
Donald ! So graceful and underratted as a dancer.

Well said and spot on
That's OK, I have totally been in love with him since I was four and I first saw Singing in the Rain!
You and me both
Right with you
Same here and I'm 75 now..he had an ease about him...just made you want to get up and dance.
Donald was the real deal, period. You can't help but love him, so stinking adorable and loveable. My favorite of them all. 2.54 minutes of pure bliss 🥰
One of the best dancers ever
A superb talent. He could dance, sing and act and made it look so easy. One of my favorites for sure.
Donald O'Connor and James Cagney.. two of the most underrated dancers of all time.
I'd add Gene Nelson to that list too.

Genius and talent personified
They were true talents all of them, O'Connor, Kelly. Reynolds. Astaire, Rogers...the list goes on. You had to be to make it them days, not like now.
Fantastic dancer and all around entertainer.
Donald was simply the best of the best.
Amazing energy and talent.🎆💎🎆
Love the direction from the wings; Gosh, Donald was super talented.
Don't know anything else about him
Oh my fudge...he is GORGEOUS
Fudge---yummy!
Damn he was good!!!
He was one of best 🎵🎤🎶🎥 Loved Donald and still do 💖💖💖💖
I could watch him all day and never get tired! He is so talented!!
Thank you for this amazing clip. Donald was a super extraordinary talent. Delightful in every way.
Simply the greatest ever.., just my two-cents...
This is exactly me when I'm alone at home. I love Donald O'Connor's grace in dance. It looks so effortless. He is truly one of the best out there.
Nothing can equal that musical era a t MGM in the early 50s- so much talent.
Sin palabras, sencillamente genial 😉👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Perfection.
I have always loved him! He is so cute and a magnificent dancer! 😊
Donald to me was about the best dancer. He was very underestimated.

Yum! So attractive :) And I love how the drumsticks never came down after he threw them xD
ha ha I scrolled down to see if anyone else loved that!
Yeah. Where'd they go, I wonder?
I was like is "he ever gonna start dancing?" 5 seconds later "holy...shit"
Perfection
He’s so amazing!❤
So underrated

Μέγα ταλέντο και μοναδική χορευτική χάρις !!!
Wonderful!

True. The dancing was amazing. Cinema photography was awkward.
Brilliant.
Great!!!!
👍👍It so great 👍👍
Dreamy.
great
I think that the soundtrack doesn't begin to match the dynamic and expressive quality of O'Connor's dancing.
Great
i am finding him incredibly attractive...
Singing in the Rain brought me here !
I Agee great talent
He certainly uses three minutes to its best advantage
I can only imagine how many hours of takes a scene like this would have been.
The chairs had to be nailed to the floor.
Is this the musical referenced in a Columbo episode with Janet Leigh cast as the muderess?
is he the one dancing into all the different sets? or is that someone else been so long since seen classic dancing movies.
Katherine Canon Yes, he is. It's the Make 'Em Laugh sequence in Singin' in the Rain.
finesse
I love you
Just my opinion but I’ve always though O’Connor was better than Gene Kelly,👍🏼
Me too.
Me three! Kelly "knew" he could dance and would tell you about it. Astaire and O'Connor kept it self-effacing and humble.
Top of that extraordinary group, yes!
Donald O’Connor

Fred Astaire
Bill “Bojangles” Robinson

Me four, hands down, he was all around the most talented.
He was an athletic acrobat. Who else could run two steps up a vertical wall and do a back flip to his feet? Nobody!!
What movie is this from ?
Walking My Baby Back Home, co-starring Janet Leigh.
+Rebecca Wynn walsh
you have great taste

@faith4094
soooo many kisses.... Im jealous... ;)
West Side Story on a DVD has extras. Russ singing in his real voice. It was dubbed in movie. His real voice is better and it fits. weird.
Why does this look like it filmed by a peeping Tom?
Sign of the times.
