"Trim that section a bit" is my comment for the majority of metallicas songs for the past 20 yrs. The intro of lords of summer is the most prime example.
What I like about it is that the ending is unexpected. They ALMOST end it where we all want it, but it goes on further and we think its going to go on and nope, its over : D But I liked this song and not so much of If Darkness, but Lux and Screaming were good. I dont know why the guitars sound low and Lars drums, especially the snare, like Load/Reload, Black Album, sounds too loud. Only this time, it doesn't have any dynamics or tonal variation or velocities. Lars does hit hard all the time, but, it should still have some natural feel, but it sounds monotonous snares and kick that's too sweet sounding. Musically and guitar tone wise, I fucking love it.
About Lars here: not just more double kicks, but also more drum rolls and varied fills. Lars always used to talk about dynamics. He needs to apply that more in the trashier moments these days. That said, I dig this tune. I think this album could be their best of the 21st century.
I love Metallica more than anyone around me, and I mean I LOVE Metallica.. but lux is my least favorite out of the new songs from this new album.. May I ask why you like it so much, just out of curiosity?
This is nothing like reload or justice for all this is new Metallica it's always new Metallica, albums are not supposed to sound the same it's called growing up and evolving as a band❤😊
With all due respect it seems like a lot of people are wanting a cookie cutter song. What makes music awesome is the journey it takes you on. Sometimes that journey is the dirt road not meant to be traveled but a hell of a lot more fun
After 40 Years this is really good, but nothing special. They are the biggest metal band and the masses like them and than this is the kind of metal. Riffs, nice melodys, catchy. With the black album the sound change and they get what they are today. And for their age it sounds really good. And in the live shows you get your old school Metallica! This has nothing to do with trash or speed metal for sure, but I am happy they still publish new albums. The 4 new songs for me 8/10!
Ok come on guys, stop bitching! This is fucking great! This is a proper thrash song!!! It sure didn't feel like 9 minutes long either, and that is a GOOD sign!
They've also been sleeping on the new Vintersea song for the last 2 or 3 weeks despite me politely requesting it since the day it dropped (and they've ignored every comment I posted about it) they've reacted to Vintersea before so I don't get what the problem is. I've been nothing but polite and respectful, but it's honestly getting frustrating that they've repeatedly ignored me. I really wish I would've told you guys to react to the new Tulip song Assassins. It's a female fronted metal band with some Prog influences. I think you'd love it. At least check it out for yourselves.

If you hear the actual track the song it’s not that long it’s only 7 minutes and you gotta think this is the opening track and you know Metallica has long intros on there opening tracks lol but love this song and I do agree it need more double bass but other than that this shit is a head banger for sure
These guys are sixty. They have to start writing songs now with the view of physical limitations more and more. Especially for live performance. Can't expect double bass all through a song like before
Can you guys do a reaction to Kim Dracula? He has 3 bad ass videos with one of them featuring Johnathan Davis. Kim Dracula is a freaking musical prodigy in my opinion. They are fantastic!
Guys. Lars is almost 60. Much more physical than playing guitar and hes been drumming since 1982 probably before you were born lol. I get it, more double kick yeah but be practical lol. Lars always makes the best decision for the song even if it's simple it keeps a good groove.
I'm anxious to see how the track flows, and what else is on the album. Other than Moth I didn't care for the HW singles. These ones are all pretty good. I'm in the minority I think liking Darkness over SS.
See, if they used the color palette of that final shot of the crib for the album cover, it would be a lot more eye pleasing i think. Not that bright emoji yellow they chose.

Best reaction review channel, serius talk, not rediculus made up grimace, not pausing every single minute etc. And the song is awsome, i really enjoying it
You're forgetting Halo On Fire for a long song that's not the same througout. This however is not that, this is just thrash throughout with some cool breaks.
It was a okay song for me, although I feel like Metallica these days aren't for me, I prefer the Ride the Lightning era Metallica or ...And Justice for all Metallica. Theres a certain element that's missing that I can't really put into words. Maybe it's a nostalgic factor, but I also subconsiously compare this to those early Metallica days and get disappointed, can't really help it. Don't think I will check this album out.
This is why AJFA songs didn't feel as long as they are... Lars drumming on that album was exceptional, and you experience a lot of beat and unexpected changes allong the songs. Here it is basic, but still, we know drumming was never a strongpoint in Metallica ever since AJFA days...
I've not really dug any of the singles the odd riff is interesting is all I've gotten from them.. I am being as honest as I can be.. I think Metallica sound tired creatively.. They are circling this same sound from 03-present.. Jame hasn't sung anything differently outside of The Day That Never Comes.. His approach to vocals has become quite stale for me.. I like it when an artist has new approaches to their delivery something he did up until St. Anger and briefly on 1 song since.. I'm not talking about some voice transplant or something just more variety there in the approach to vocals and lyrical flow.. It all sounds the same.. Really seriously.. Listen to any of these songs and the approach is the same.. Now do the same for the previous album.. Its the same down the line.. Where he might have overly relied on the Eh! sound to the tail of his lines in the 90s he's now overly using A in the middle everything WrAaaath of mAaaan.. Grating when you pick this up.. Every single its present.. Not just in words with A's but like Yeah! Ye/ah... Ah.. Being added to the tail end of every single line especially live.. Now I'm not saying people don't enjoy this or simply haven't picked up in overly dependent patterns that's causing the music to sound samey because it is.. Now it's no secret I'm a Megadeth fan.. One thing that I really like about Mustaines approach to lyrical delivery and giving each album a slightly different slight of his voice.. You'll not find a Megadeth album with Mustaine sounding like he's just doing the same things over and over but in another song.. Its just not his approach. People will say oh but Mustaines not as good a singer.. Sure.. To you if you want to see singing in that way.. To me the value of Metal is that its not done a particular way.. Its a rebellious community of people and a way of life in some regards now.. At this to me that's what it is.. Now to someone else it might be that it all sound this way and that's what metal is.. No I think Metal is much more of a mindset and way of life and worldview than some people realise.. So to me when someone that can't sing in a traditional sense steps up to the mic and delivers something new.. Different.. Unique.. I sit up.. Now it still has to be good of course.. Metal.. Much like Metallica has been decaying for the last 10 years at a rate faster than record sales.. Now people might again think I'm saying this out of some fanboy rivalry no.. I like Metallica.. I have liked their first 4 albums back to front and front to back since I first heard them.. They were my gateway band like they were for many.. But its become apparent to me that Metal suffered a very serious blow in the early 90s.. Again it's subjective frankly when you think Metal had its peak some would say it was the early 90s.. But none are going to say mid 90s.. 00s.. 10s?.. No... Metallica are in part to blame for what happened to Metal itself.. Its become conforming.. Elitist at times.. The wider genre was experimental lots of very different bands and sounds.. Sub genres being birthed and adopted.. This was the case during Metals rise and up to the fall... Still have bands popping up all the time.. None of them particularly inspired to the point you listen to it and go damn that was incredible.. Thats going to be a song or album people are seriously going to talk about in the vain of say Master of Puppets, Rust in Peace, Reign in Blood, Among The Living.. Just to keep it on topic.. No... I generally haven't heard anything that made me care at all outside of some of the legacy acts.. And I say some.. Most bands seem incapable of braking out of the mold that's been built.. I don't want to place all the blame on the bands though.. But the management's and labels that have all approached Metal as this perticular product now instead of a living growing beast of ideas and creativity.. If someone came along tomorrow and released something that was truly next level for Metal nobody would hear it and if they did they would pick it apart because it doesn't sound like what they like listening to... And with that I come back to my own tastes.. I like certain things in Metal.. I like when there is experimental efforts in the genre.. Where is the next Metallica?.. Or Megadeth?.. Slayer?.. Anthrax.. Budgie?.. Black Sabbath?.. Iron Maiden?.. Where are the next generation to take that mantel on.. Wasn't anyone from the 90s.. Lamb of God?.. Maybe strongest contender but a genre you do not save from 'irrelevance' in the present with one band.. These legacy bands.. Its a weird term but I'll use it.. They won't be around forever and when they go so does the main draw at festivals.. Nobody is rising up to fill the shoes or the seats.. A hit song is nice but it's in albums that a successful career is made.. You need more than 1 hit.. A album of hits.. Followed by another... Is there anyone doing that other than a very limited few?.. And if they are why aren't they known at all?. Metal has become broken... I don't know where Metallica is going to land on the charts.. I've looked to see if they have any real competition around the 100k mark and there could be 1 maybe.. But they've picked a window that's going to hide the set down in sales from the previous album.. A trend that's genre wide.. Every single metal artist (bar Megadeth) is now selling nearly half the albums they were before if not even 3 years ago without a visual increase in those numbers to digital engagement.. Spotify ect.. Slipknot went from 130k in week 1 in 2019.. To 59k in late 2022.. Machine Head also released a new album.. It sold 16k and failed to even chart in the US... Their first to not chart.. This decline is now at rapid speed due to the vaccum of interest being sucked out by the lack of new artists coming forward WITH very strong albums that get wider attention due to its quality and special factor.. Cant be done if everything sounds the same and is almost formulaic in today's landscape.. With bands like Metallica releasing formulated albums that fail to expand or really inspire.. Old work yes.. New work no.. Cant be said for all legacy acts.. But when Metallica are rewarded or praised for delivering formular nothing new or inspired.. Its the act of taking a hammer and nail to the coffin of the genre.. Less variety = praise.. Lazy solos = praise.. Basic drums = praise.. Shouting = praise.. Bass? = praise... Can we all agree that Metallica haven't grown musically since 2002/3? Having slightly better production btw isn't musical growth.. Albums should be snapshots.. Different.. This is no different at all. Its just the same.. And that's the result of high praise for lazy work due in part because of some perceived pressure that Metallica are the biggest so they must be just great.. When if honest they haven't been for a very long time and admitting that to ourselves and feeding that back out there might just get them out of the rut and making something inspired once more.. Until then it's going to be more wishful thinking and blind following as the wider genre to suffers the same fate.. A truth that hurts and makes people defensive Metal is dying what can be done to change that?.. Megadeth releasing a great album is good and all but that alone isn't going to save the genre itself from decaying further.. No one artist can do that.. Its going to have to be just something people discuss and it breaths new life into the beast.. New artists will then seek to not just release lazy sounding sludge like Metallica thinking well people buy that soooooo.. Thats why we're here. This song is the title track and it's weak.. All the singles are but as a title track this sits as the most lazy sounding of them all.. St. Anger another terrible song actually had more going on for it than this does.. This sounds like a cut song from anyone one of the albums released from 2003 to now.. Then all songs sound the same anyway in this period.. 20 years of samey bland Metallica.. Its at the point where people should have the stomach to say it.
It seems like everybody is liking the new songs, especially this one. I'm just not feeling them. They sound stale, repetitive and boring to me. Which some songs on Hardwired does as well, but that album also had some killers. Metallica is my favorite band of all time and I've been listening to them for over 30 years, so this isn't hate. The songs just doesn't do it for me...

@@metalc0readd1ct I didn't say I hate it. I actually said im not hating. I'm a big Metallica fan and will continue to listen to their catalog of great music. I'm sorry that my simple subjective opinion of a couple of songs got such a response from you - are you ok? Metallica is a lot of different styles of music and means a lot of different things to different people. People can like whatever they want from them and shouldn't be told that they "don't deserve it" just because they don't like a few songs. I like most of their catalog but prefer Ride the Lightning, Puppets and Justice. Just because Metallica is playing "fast" again and using a familiar song formula to their thrash days doesn't mean it's good songs...to my ears. I'm happy you like them.
still not a Metallica fan. they're listenable but after the black album I just never cared about them again. I'm glad they're still going strong and people like them a lot. it's just not my thing.
Arguably Metallica's best Speed/Thrash metal song since the 1980s. The last album has Spit Out The Bone. In 2008 on Death Magnetic there was My Apocalypse. There's a lot of Fire and Speed on this one. These Guys are doing this type of music and they're age 60! If they've got one or two ones more like this on the album, it could be their best Album since the 1980s...
Eh the song is just spit out the hardwired moth. A lot of riff and vocal melody recycling if you listen back to those three songs. That's a sin to rob so many ideas from the previous album.
I have flipping loved EVERY song they pre released , Hardwired 3 CD was a banger but only a few tracks on part 1 - disc 3 was amazing & worth having Jamez yell "Cliff can you hear us?!" worth the money - This is going to blast Hardwired
Okay,I will say it again. 20 years ago I thought that Annihilator sounded very much like Metallica. Now I am pretty sure that Metallica sounds like Annihilator. I prefer Annihilator.
As a huge Metallica fan I can say that they are overdoing some stuff. This song should've been 6 minutes not fucking 8. It doesn't have enough elements to be an 8 min song. I would expect something different after the main solo to call it enough for 8 min. I don't expect them to be as great as 80's and 90's but they have the material and I don't understand why they miss those noticeable opportunities to upgrade these songs from good to excellent. It just makes me feel incomplete. My favorite ranking of the singles: 1- Lux Æterna would've been a better song if the guitar tone was more thrashy not kinda rock, kirk and lars was actually doing something meaningful. 2- 72 Seasons would've been better if it was shorter or had more in it, lars and kirk again 3- If Darkness Had would've been better if it wasn't repetitive, kirk and lars again 4- Screaming Suicide would've been better if they speed up the songs, better chorus, kirk and lars again... Anyways, great reaction guys!! I love your channel!
This song is the best out of the four, but I do agree that the intro and the outro could be a little shorter. This solo from Kirk was the best composed and melodic, I love the harmonies in there too. Overall another BANGER of a title track and the truth is, most of METALLICAS title tracks are usually amazing AKA Justice, Ride The Lighting, Master Of Puppets, Sandman… now you can add this to the list 🤘🏻🔥
Here is the bottom we as metal fans keep hoping we are going to here the Metallica boys go back to the pre black album but it’s not gonna happen. This band is living off the popularity of the the first few albums and the Black album.Metallica is what they are and ain’t gonna change.James does sound good but the rest is meh
Back in 1989-1990 Metallica made the decision to make shorter songs because they found their fans to be bored of long songs. The result of this decision was the creation of the best selling album of the last 25 years and their first Grammy award. They since went back to writing long songs and their fanbase has been critically divided ever since. Point being, this has nothing to do with TikTok generation. Some people like it and some don't.
If this was a new band... Noone would ever hear it.. Maybe their familys and the people turning it down.. Mad respect for James' songwriting.. But everybody eventually is empty..
It just a good song but not really great!composition wise ok but not amazing..I think Metallica are locked in that same formula(bubble) at the moment since Death Magnetic till now!...we want better compositions not just speed!..more heavy!... perhaps the should try concept albums ..I don't really know? ... But I'm not really blown away sorry!..like I said I would be more blown away if they compose something amazing like what they have done in the past!

But I liked this song and not so much of If Darkness, but Lux and Screaming were good.
One thing we all need to remember is that without Lars ,there would probably be no Metallica.
Great reaction as always boys 🤘🤘
Best Metallica songs tell a story as you say, this song does and a close second is darkness so far on this album
I like this new metallica reaction Phänomene
This songs ok, but my favorite is still Lux Eterna out of the 4.
Can't wait for the whole album
I love Metallica more than anyone around me, and I mean I LOVE Metallica.. but lux is my least favorite out of the new songs from this new album.. May I ask why you like it so much, just out of curiosity?
@@pepper684 I just do,..it's my favorite of the 4 songs.
I laughed so hard to you guys trying to guess the outro lmao
I love it 🤘🔥🔥
This is nothing like reload or justice for all this is new Metallica it's always new Metallica, albums are not supposed to sound the same it's called growing up and evolving as a band❤😊
Awesome song
"It's pretty straight-forward. It's a little stock."
I agree with your comments. I think we know a theme and all 4 songs kinda sound similar
With all due respect it seems like a lot of people are wanting a cookie cutter song. What makes music awesome is the journey it takes you on. Sometimes that journey is the dirt road not meant to be traveled but a hell of a lot more fun
Hell yeah I agree!
You guys are sleeping on the new Shadow of Intent reaction. Safe to say, it's awesome!
Nope. We reacted, just not uploaded yet😉
I don't know what they expect us subscribers to do here, blowing off your audience is a dik move.
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head We get hundreds of comments every day with people asking us to react to all sorts of things. Our DMs are full of people requesting reviews and reactions and our e-mail gets tons of unsolicited offers for album reviews and things like that. The simple answer is that we only respond to the ones we are interested in because it would take forever to respond to them all.
AJFA is by far their best album imo.
Yup, and if the bass player's name was "Cliff Burton" and instead of "Jason Newsted" it absolutely would be - without question.
I really wish I would've told you guys to react to the new Tulip song Assassins. It's a female fronted metal band with some Prog influences.
I think you'd love it. At least check it out for yourselves.
MUST check out the new Worm Shepherd song next!
Love the song, only part I don’t care for is the pre-chorus
Cause it's a riff you heard before. Part of the Spit out the bone pre Chorus riff
@@jman9838 I did hear the similarity but it’s not that, it just feels out of place and messes with the flow of the song to me.
Love this song. Load/ReLoad are amazing tho, don't be sleeping on those lol. I prefer them over most Metallica albums to be honest.
I like it. It is slightly too long eg the intro and outros could have been trimmed but all good
Ps: Are you guys gonna check out the new Vintersea song? It's been out for 2 weeks now and it's an amazing song, I was hoping to hear your thoughts on it because I enjoyed your previous Vintersea reactions. Can you let me know if you're interested? Thanks guys, keep up the great work fellas 🤘🤘🤙🤙
Can't expect double bass all through a song like before
I’ll just give one example, Charlie Benante, he’s older than Lars and is playing better now than he did in the 80s. Just comes down to practice
@@tylerporter8923 People also age differently and have limitations at different points in life.
Pop- Rock 😝
Don’t forget about the two first songs on Death Magnetic- those two are pretty long then a shorter BBS.
LEGO LAAAAND😹
I'm anxious to see how the track flows, and what else is on the album. Other than Moth I didn't care for the HW singles. These ones are all pretty good. I'm in the minority I think liking Darkness over SS.
Same here!
Darkness is my favorite so far, I think it will be great live!
9:57-10:10 lol 😂
See, if they used the color palette of that final shot of the crib for the album cover, it would be a lot more eye pleasing i think. Not that bright emoji yellow they chose.
Their album covers since Load have been pretty damn bad :D
AMAZING SONG! A TOTAL BANGER! THIS SONG CRIES OUT TO PLAY LIVE AND GET THE CROWD MOSHING AND POSSIBLY STAGE DIVES!!! SUCH A KILLER SONG!!! KILLER REACTION!!!🎼😎🤘🥁🎸🔥👊🙏😊💯🤜🤛🍻
No
Last verse is the best
Best reaction review channel, serius talk, not rediculus made up grimace, not pausing every single minute etc.
And the song is awsome, i really enjoying it
agreed. the channels that stop all the time are exhausting.
In 6 months Lars will have forgotten how to play these new tracks😅😅😅
Thanks for sharing guys! MEGADETH is my favorite! God bless you ! JESUS SAVES!
That element is called youth
Lars isn't 21 anymore. Christ almighty give him a break. I can't even do 20 push ups.
People say often its boring/hate stuff and other but they bringed back og thrashy sound which is imo the best stuff about them what i like, this is what Metallica is if you dont like it then you dont deserve it, go and listen to hip hop if you want change fr
The reason this song has such a long intro is cause it's the 1st song on the album
Ever heard of Hardwired from the previous album?
That clocks in at 3:09.
Annihilator are literal Metallica plagiarists though . …
Screaming suicide best track out of 4 released so far and is much better than this one for me,this is 3rd for me and lux eterna 2nd.
My favorite ranking of the singles:
1- Lux Æterna would've been a better song if the guitar tone was more thrashy not kinda rock, kirk and lars was actually doing something meaningful.
2- 72 Seasons would've been better if it was shorter or had more in it, lars and kirk again
3- If Darkness Had would've been better if it wasn't repetitive, kirk and lars again
4- Screaming Suicide would've been better if they speed up the songs, better chorus, kirk and lars again...
Anyways, great reaction guys!! I love your channel!
If longer songs bother you, Metallica is NOT your band. 👍
"a lot of things stapled together" is exactly what Metallica has done since Kill em All. Not understanding the critique.
Four songs in nothing memorable or interesting at least for me..I will be grateful for just a few good songs remaining on the album
I'm sorry, but if you hate long songs, Metallica is NOT your band. 👍
Tik Tok generation can’t stand long songs. I liked it!
Modern Metallica: great as lazy, over the hill dad rock for normies.
Um, we have Megadeth The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead, why bother with this? 😂
Same lame drumming and soft gtr riffs.
Death Magnetic was great like Justice. This new album is worse than St. Anger except the sound
Just another boring Metallica song. Nothing good came from this band after 1991. Sad but true. ;)
Loads weren't boring. St anger sound sucked. Death Magnetic was great except the production sound. This new album is boring
Song is ok. Drumming is boring and i dont like the solo at all.
Good song, what a shame they don't have a drummer anymore. Its like listening to a guitar-pro backing drums doing the same pattern for 7 minutes...
Too Long, Plodding and Generic...YAWN ... sorry just my Opinion
This
4 Nothing special tracks. I hate the sound mix of it. I can’t stand Lars high hat sound too.
one trick pony
I dont think you know what that means
The first metallic songs from this album have all just been, well a little bland
It just feels so bloated and incoherent😢
You're obviously not paying attention.
