This is total New Wave Of British Heavy Metal / KEA era. Equally Diamond Head and Motorhead, put through the 'Tallica filter. I hope there's more of this on the album.
CAN WE JUST AGREE...THESE GUYS ARE IN THEIR SIXTIES AND STILL SELLING OUT STADIUMS AND ARENAS AROUND THE WORLD. FORTY YEARS OF KICKING ASS, THEY ARE LEGENDS!
@@jordanbenson2980 I agree. The greatest band to ever stand on a stage and play live. Im old now, nothing replaces that 1st Metallica concert I went to, other than another Metallica concert I went to. Saw tons of bands, a lot if really good ones, none better than Metallica
This is definitely more kill em all vibes. And the album title said by James Hetfield “72 seasons - the first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. the number of seasons we live through by the time we become an adult." Def love this song
In 2017 we went to see them in Birmingham front row for centre stage and because James was so impressed with me moshing to who for whom the bell tolls he gave me his wristband at the end posed for us to take a decent photo. He was in such a happy mood on the beginning of that tour
My favorite band. I've been checking Google for months to see if they were releasing new music and the one time I don't check, they do it. Already love this song. I can't wait to hear the 11 other songs. Metallica4lyfe!!! \m/ \m/
The solo is indeed all over the place in a good way. It's like Kirk throwing every little tricks he knows in the air in 20 seconds but it works with this song. He's in his comfort zone but it sounds like he's not overthinking things and sometimes it's all you need. It's "full speed or nothing".
It’s amazing what this band does to us fans. I see you listening to this song, and the smile on your face was just as big as mine was when I first heard this song.
Just dropped right out of the sky, new song, new album, new tour, new web design, no leaks, pretty impressive considering; cool song, has a "Stone Cold Crazy" vibe
It was so good to see your happy face reviewing this. Like you, me and my other half are massive fans. We have the same Metallica tattoo. Although I got my first because I'm older. I've seen them about 5 times now.
This is my favorite Kirk Hammett Solo in a very long time don't get me wrong he's had some pretty good ones on recent albums but this one is very inventive and interesting
I loved Atlas rise, it's still on my list in the car. Loved that album, prof that old people can rock that hard. Looking forward to hearing the whole album. Keep it up, Simon, you are the man! BLC!
A kick ass Kriss Kross between Hit the Lights and Hardwired. I think its got a good drive to it, an energetic pace and its short sharp attack is a nice bolt to the senses. Love too, that it showed up like an RKO outta nowhere. This, and a new album Nxt year.
@@JacksonOwex hell, i even found parts of St. Anger to be good. Absolutely did Not like the sound of the drums in the album and it really needed some solos, but apart from that there are still bits of the songs that get stuck in my head on occasion.
I have to disagree a little about your Load comparison. This pulls heavily from their thrash punk and New Wave of British Heavy Metal influences and feels closer to Kill 'Em All than Load. Lux Æterna has a vibe very reminiscent of Motorbreath.
Can’t wait! I can see the elements of Load from the guitar riffs but this is more like Kill em All for me. Someone did make a good point that Lux Aeterna translates to Eternal Light. Wonder if it’s a reference to Hit The Lights. Awesome track. Can’t wait for the album
I was surprised and happy about the lenght of the song. And it reminded me more of the riffs on kill em all rather than load but i see where youre coming from Simon.
Metallica have a huge antilipsis of writing memorable songs. In this case , the main and chorus riff are simple and HUGE at the same time. The structure is beyond clever!!!
The AE is the way it was written in Latin. Wikipedia: Æ (lowercase: æ) is a character formed from the letters a and e, originally a ligature representing the Latin diphthong ae.
Hmmm. Gonna have to give it a few more listens. It felt like a mix of Death Magnetic mixed with the stuff they did on Garage Inc. particularly the Mercyful Fate/Misfits tracks they did.
I think this channel's more of a garage inc sound than load and reload. It reminds me of their cover of Sabbera Cadabera. Only faster and more aggressive.
I love the load records, and in terms of simplicity and blues based riffage it is related, but to me this has more to do with garage days (The prince) NWOBHM.
My fav all time band!!!! Simon this makes me love ya even more hahahaha My first memories of life are watching MTV and seeing the Enter Sandman music video so its no surprise that they're my all time fav haha
Weird tour for sure. A few euro dates, then back to USA, then back to euro ... no UK dates of course As for the song, reminds me more of a combination of earlier material mixed with the commercial side of the Black album rather than Load. Plus there is defo a vibe of Stone cold crazy by Queen
Lol I agree 💯 I'm really trying to think how 🤔 maybe hes's getting the load era and Garage Inc. Sound confused. To me it sounds like the Ronnie Rise Medley. I've always loved that sound and was surprised it wasn't on Hardwird.
Pretty cool to discover you are a Metallica fan! I enjoy watching you on Ups and Downs! Well, my friend you get the Golden Up and if you didn’t know why, here’s why! 😂 Keep up the good work!
What many are not saying about this song is the PRODUCTION. It's crisp, clear and punchy. Something we've struggled with concerning this band has ALWAYS been PRODUCTION. It's very Motorhead-y. Simple short riffs and a decent Kirk solo. Out with the old "tallica" and in with...FINALLY..Metallica. RIP 'tallica. Welcome back to Metal Thrashing Mad Metallica. FINALLY.
I don’t here nothing from Load, this is more Heavy Metal/ Power with some Kill em All, and Trapped Under Ice/ Ride the Lightning. But the song is solid i like it 🤘😎
Thanks to Metallica. Imagine that, the biggest heavy metal band in history and brought it mainstream, who is shamed by so many haters, may very well bring metal back again. If there is anyone with the power to do it, its Metallica
Lots of nods to others in this song, especially Motorhead at the end. When I first heard this I personally thought this would have fit in on their Death Magnetic album. There's a bit in there that sounds a bit remind me Suicide and Redemption as well. The only negative, is we have to wait till April for the album.
I like every Metallica song ever written,.only band I can say this about by a long shot,. Metallica raised me unfortunately, let's goooooooooooooooooooo rifffff

I agree
Definitely spot on, minus the evil lyrics! LOL
Yeah, I hear bits of Budgie in there too....
Bit of a Kill Em All vibe too
When I first heard the riff, I immediately thought it was similar to Aces High by Iron Maiden!

I think his vocals are the best I've heard....Wow.
This is a prime example of what they would term “stock”. Totally underwhelming.
i thought he sounds a lot like Dave. In fact this is what megadeth would be jealous of

I kinda wish he would've had a second solo at the 5:07 mark. Otherwise I'm in love with the song.
Even its kind of modern interpretation of Ride the lightning but as you said it’s always feels good to hear something new from metallica
It’s amazing what this band does to us fans. I see you listening to this song, and the smile on your face was just as big as mine was when I first heard this song.

59 years old and James still sounds amazing!!

This is a song for breaking the speed limit.
This blows Load away bro, no comparison
More than a Load vibe, I'm getting a vibe that they're kind of wearing their NWOBHM influences on their sleeves...which I'm perfectly cool with.
It sounds like KILL EM ALL in 2022
Really an homage to their NWOBHM / Punk rock roots. Higher pitched riffs / vocals, not the typical snarl and low end they're known from.
Masters of METAL are back!
I was surprised and happy about the lenght of the song. And it reminded me more of the riffs on kill em all rather than load but i see where youre coming from Simon.

Lux Æterna is a 2019 French independent experimental meta-art film written, produced and directed by Gaspar Noé.
“I won’t go as far as Reload”. Dude. Reload is just a continuation of Load. Reload was the extra songs that they didnt use for load.
Hopefully they’ll kick Ticketmasters arse so we can afford the tickets.
Last time the toured I was living in a hotel and couldn’t afford anything.
The chorus is more diamond head than diamond head themselves, and I am ALL here for it
