- Want to remove a muffler or resonator from your car to make it louder and more aggressive sounding? This video will show you how to do a muffler delete in a way that's very inexpensive, requires no welding, and is easy to revert back to stock if you don't like the sound! In this tutorial I go over all the steps from how to remove your muffler, to how to cut exhaust pipe to match your car, to how to install your new straight pipe between the mufflers! This is a great DIY that you could easily do at home to make your car a bit more lively!

The VR6 sounds great! My friend did a resonator delete on his MK7 GTI and it sounds nice, not too much louder but a nice tone

Should use a heatgun to do the heatup, positive pressure from exhaust can push your adhesive out

If you want to delete a muffler you'll need to fill the space where the muffler was with new exhaust pipe, unless you wanted to end the exhaust where the muffler used to be!
At 3:20 you say use exhaust sealer to prevent exhaust leaks.... what exactly is an exhaust leak? Silly question i know
No it's a good question! An exhaust leak is when the exhaust gasses exit the exhaust before the back of the car, thus "leaking" out. They often sound bad and depending on where they are can cause other problems or allow the fumes to go into your car

I have a bmw 550i (2007) with a V8 and want it to sound louder and more aggresive. What made you choose the resonator to delete and not the mufflers? I found a tuning company close to where I live that could do the muffler delete for around 400 euro where I live
Location and ease of removal on my car made my choice, it also makes it much snappier sounding

Very little on this car but that’ll depend on the car! Also, 400 euros sounds quite expensive, so I’d recommend shopping around a bit. Maybe stuff is more in Europe or they’re up charging since it’s a BMW, but it seems a bit steep. Best of luck!
@@CashedOutCars They charge €85 per hour + cost of material and it's about 2 hours of work. I just called them and they thought I wanted a sport muffler so without the sport muffler it could be ~€100 cheaper, making it €300 in total. Perhaps €250 but that's about it. Does that sound reasonable or still high? Cheers!
@@mariabutler3356 Yes, that sounds like a lot. Should be around $100 USD for a simple muffler delete. It's a simple cut,remove, install and weld. No more than an hour worth of work. Find a different shop lol or even a mechanic. I know a mobile mechanic who did it in my driveway for $80

A reciprocating saw, sometimes referred to as a sawzall. Similar to the name, you can saw through all sorts of things with the right blades and saw. It never gets old :)

Your exhaust wouldn't exit at the right place so you might get exhaust in your car, as well as the heat from it coming out under the car

I have a stock car with 2 mufflers that are not visible . I want them to show like every other car. Will getting a rear muffler delete make that happen or is that another mod . ?
If you’re taking about the tail pipes with exhaust tips which is what you see that’s a different mod, I have a video on that on my channel as well!

Ask for exhaust tips, you might need to extend your exhaust pipe to get them to a nice visible location
does the pipe that replaces the muffler have to be bigger that the existing pipe or the same size?
It depends how you want to do it. They make slip over pipes that are just larger than the outer diameter of the existing pipe that you slip over and then weld, or you can clamp it if it's the same size like I did. You also can weld end to end if you want

If you take the muffler out you’ll need something to replace that section of exhaust with, otherwise your exhaust will end at the start of where the muffler was

Would it be better to weld the piping over the clamps for the optimum
If you plan on welding it I’d get pipe that slips over the existing pipe and weld it that way, it’d be stronger than welding the clamp. I used clamps so it was easy to do without welding in most cases

Yeah you could, it just won’t be quite as strong. I’ve done it that way before and it’s been fine though

Local auto parts stores will either stock it or be able to get it! I paid $23 for a 10ft section from O’Riley’s auto parts

Will it affect the emissions test?
It’ll depend on your state! Since this isn’t a catalytic converters delete it shouldn’t be a problem unless where you live closely checks that you have all the factory mufflers

A lot of them will. You might have to call ahead of time since some places have rules against it but even there you should be able to find somewhere to do it. Good Luck!
