As someone who has a modded Corolla I loved this video, it's got blackout tint a sub system that I couldn't live with out and I have a flowmaster. Out of the other cars I've had my Corolla has the best sound it's so loud and that's that I had to make adjustments bc I got fined like crazy(CA laws)
Mod 1: Muffler delete, it improves the sound (may not work for all cars). Mod 2: Sway bars, connects the suspension of the wheels and improves handling. Mod 3: Short throw shifter, it reduces the motion of shifting gears. Mod 4: LED light bulb headlights, it may make the light bluer like xenon headlights and increase the light output to make it look nicer during night. Mod 5: Pod filter, may increase performance or decrease but mainly makes it sound nicer.
Mod 1: Muffler Delete. You'll get tickets for that where I live. And the sound will be raspy. And you won't pass your emissions test. Mod 4: LED/Xenon/Hyper White bulbs. I've probably had like 5 pairs of these in my life. Longest lasting pair I ever had for 8 months. Most of them died around the 4-6 month mark. So I never bought them again. I put back in my Honda oem bulbs and they lasted 5 years! Mod 2: I agree. Sway bar makes a big difference. Especially if you can get a used one from a compatible car instead of spending $200-300 on a Progress or Eibach or whatever brand.

As a fellow car guy and Toyota mechanic, I 100% agree with this list. One thing that would add about pod filters is that they make your turbo sound soo much better(if you have one). Another cheap mod you can do to really change the feel of your car is to lighten it, and get rid of all the heavy stuff. You can get rid of 60ish kg pretty easy and the difference is like night and day(unless your car is naturally really heavy)
Couldn’t removing a large amount of weight set off the weight distribution though? I feel like it wouldn’t be much of a worry for rwd cars, because of the weight of the rear diff, but since most of the stuff being removed is in the rear, couldn’t that be more of a problem for fwd cars?

Very true, it's also killing two birds with one stone if you just bought the car used! I got my 328i used at 110k miles, it's an 07 so it's been around for awhile. Im gonna be honest, I also "deleted" the muffler of my first car. But with time I learned that best doesn't mean louder, you can change the muffler with one that enhances the sound of your car without bothering people that just don't like loud noises. Also, research if you can legally do it where you live because otherwise the fine will be the same or bigger than the cost of a better muffler.
Before you said the first one, I paused and said to myself “first thing anyone should do is a muffler deleted or exhaust tip” then ya said it, this video has been agreed and approved, have a nice day
Remember with new LED bulbs to readjust your beams. The low beams height should be the same height as the headlight housing, at about 10ft away. The driver side beam should be twisted slightly in, and the passenger beam ever slightly out.
Muffler delete, air intake, headers, and new wheels on my 2003 G35 Infiniti so far. Once I start modding my car I just couldn’t stop, it’s so addictive XD
Best cheap mod is learn how to vinyl wrap, and black out/color change little details on your car that you want. I’ve done a couple chrome deletes and wrapped parts of my interior in white camo, and love the look.
Good vid! One thing I’d recommend is not parking your car in the street if you can help it. I parked my S10 Xtreme in the street for 4 days and on the 4th day, while I was away at work someone had smashed into the back of it and bent the frame, busted out the back window and the dashboard popped out 😢 with the insurance claim from that and a tax return I managed to get my hands on a Mk 3 Supra tho 🤘
what about an exhaust cutout? ive got one, and its great for a daily. When going to work early, getting home late, or avoiding the police, its great to have a choice at your fingertips.
@@sugamai ive had it installed for about a month now, and so far i haven't noticed any leaks. Just make sure its a good design though, the cheap ones tend to leak. I got mine from summit racing.
just remember not to go too crazy with headlights. you dont want permanent highbeams for headlights blinding oncoming traffic. instead of going for the brightest ones you can get go for the color shade you want and find decent ones that wont give everyone else lasik driving down the road. brighter highbeams, spotlights, or extra lights you can turn on and off seperate to your headlights are a good option if you want to see far down the road at night
Just one thing if you're going to change out your headlights, You have to replace the housing For the lights because in some places it's actually illegal to put LED's In halogen light bulb housings Because they're not built for led's. Plus changing the housing out to housing that's made for LED's can make them look so much better, And function 2 to 3 times better because they will work properly.
There's no shoulds... there are many shouldn'ts but it's what suits you best and how extensive your knowledge and ambitions are towards car modifications.. 👌🤙
Best muffler delete I've ever done was resonator back delete on my B7 Passat 1.8t. Sounds amazing. I also did a bypass valve spacer so I could get the turbo woosh.
It feels like I've been searching for this video forever. Thank you bro i needed that information, i can't wait to try a muffler delete on my Leon FR ❤️
I'm 12 and I asked my neighbor how much his mustang would sell for when I turn 17...he dosnt use it and it's engine dosent work...he also is selling it so he said he would keep it until I'm old enough...i can't wait
Just make sure to do an inspection on it when you get older, and try to figure out what's wrong with it. If he hasn't tried to fix it, and is willing to sell it to you in 5 years, it could possibly be a really hard problem to work on. Find a friend who knows a lot about cars, and have them look at it for you. Mustang's are cool, and I am jealous of your luck, but a broken Mustang wont get you anywhere. Good luck!
First thing everyone should do, Is make sure everything in the motor is solid, bushings, o rings, gaskets, etc, u don't want your cars motor to blow up on the top of a mountain, so just recommendation
Well in the UK there is laws about how loud a car is allowed to be on the road so that why people use performance exhaust for better sound. And plus they are introducing 'Noise cameras' to target those vehicles they call too noisy.
Personally as a first quick modification to a car I normally suggest a extra set of brake pads just incase of braking issues and maybe some seat belts cause personally ima very tall individual and the normal selt belts cut my neck at times and cam get a bit uncomfortable so some after market seat belts or racing belts I also do agree with the muffler delete as a cheap thing to do as well
My first mod is always the muffler delete and turbo muffler delete if stock turbo 2nd cold air intake 3rd window and rear shield (for weather and looks) 4th tent windows 5 just have fun
Great content as always! Thinking of starting my own channel soon! Gunna start the channel and do a mod series on my stock 1999 Camry XLE v6. you inspired me!
just an fyi, installing performance modifications on a vehicle without tuning it is going to decrease horsepower more often than not, the intake for example will be adding more air to the engine but the ecu doesnt know that so it injects insufficient fuel for best combustion and will decrease power due to your air fuel mixture being more lean
One important thing you missed: if it's your first car, an economy car, or otherwise just not your end goal for a car... Don't mod it. Please. Save up until you can afford a project car or a car you really like. Don't waste your time or money getting a muffler delete and 20-inch rims for your ford focus or kia soul.
I'll be getting my first car soon, around December or so, and I've been looking out for which one to get. I want it to be a project car but until pretty recently, I wasn't too much into cars, so the only ones I'm into are old, iconic cars that are relatively expensive used or not really suitable if you prefer a mixture between fun and having modern safety features ('67 Impala, AE86). On the other hand, I've had fun drifting in Assetto Corsa and always wanted to give it a try in a real car, so buying a car suitable for that would be nice too. Guess that's for the future.
I have an accidental muffler delete, didnt even have to do anything. I was in the middle of driving and thought to myself "Gee that car behind me just got a lot louder outta nowhere." Then they turned off and i realized the noise didnt get quieter. The noise is now me....
my first modification to my car was either tint or rims(granted i went from factory steel to factory alloy, still looks 10x better then before), then the next mod was the exhaust(had dual Flowmaster 40 series installed on my car by a shop, i would have tried but, they needed to be welded in, looks and sounds good, I have a video of how it sounds on my channel), but that is where i left off due to the transmission failing in it, and cant have it fixed anytime soon, but it will be back and even stronger then before
hey Rex, thanks for the video!!! I recently got myself a 'Nissan ex saloon' probably between 2004-2009 I'll have to check. I have to fix a lot of things, and your videos are really helping me out!!! Today i cleaned the whole engine, currently waiting for it dry so i can put the battery in and start it!!! Thanks for the tips! btw, window tints and some nice rain caps are also some cool starter customizations.
Seeing as it can be illegal in Canada, we're better off getting a full cat-back exhaust system, muffler delete would be nice, but excessive sound can get us in trouble with the law
Most cars have resonators and deleting the muffler can make a very good sound without being ridiculously loud. I’ve done it on a few of my cars, and some of those mufflers are heavy as heck so that’s just increased performance just like that. Intakes especially on Toyotas usually decrease performance and not for the reasons you think. It comes down to how the maf reads the intake flow and a larger diameter or smoother intake will reduce the velocity of the air and most factory intakes have baffles that direct the air properly to the maf. I wish I never installed an intake on my mr2 spyder because it definitely is slower and makes an obnoxiously loud sound while starting up. I didn’t even get into how much power you are wasting by increasing intake temperatures since most factory intakes have some sort of way to get cold air from outside the engine bay and most aftermarket intakes that aren’t cold air intakes are sucking in 200 degree engine bay air. This isn’t even mentioning turbocharged card that 1 run even more hot and 2 changing the air fuel ratios will cause the car to run lean with an intake and exhaust without a tune and will likely blow the engine. I’m all for modified cars as mine are probably more modified than most out there but please do your research and do it right. I’ve learned through my experiences some modifications you want to do with some cars and some you don’t and you never want a hot ram intake. Never.
My too 5 first I’d say is wheels-suspension -wrap/paint- exhaust- cold air intake and ik there very controversial but those 5 things give a good look and starting ground because those 5 things stick out to me the most when I pass a car at a meet or on the road
For me I put in a trunk pop kit that opens the trunk from the FOB, hood struts instead of that hideous prop rod, window tint, and a resonator delete w/ h-pipe. Next mods will be intake, lowering springs, and jacking rails. Enjoyed your video!
"brighter lights help you see better" yes, but it blinds other drivers (annoys me when Im driving on a dark road and these bright headlight cars pass me)
@@interstellarsunset2951 terrible way of thinking and horrible mindset. Obviously ppl are not gonna stop modifying their cars just because you dont like it. Either deal with the bright lights or do something about it and get a tint

In some less enlightened jurisdictions, muffler deletion is frowned upon, to say the least and the ticket twill cost you an arm and a leg. This is a problem if you're not a salamander and are unable to regrow them but there is a solution. Simply route the tailpipe inside the car and that wonderful noise will be heard without the attenuation of windows and bodywork even in the worst weather. Please note that it's not a perfect solution in every way. Brighter lights are safer but the allure of blue beats safety, so always get bulbs with a blue coating to filter out some red and yellow. Human vision being the least sensitive to blue light is also irrelevant in the face of the cool factor. A slightly different but also great mod is the headlight delete which then provides a perfect location for air intakes where there is an area of high pressure for free boost. Roads are lit anyway and the power you save by the alternator having less to do can go straight to the wheels. This is true. I have more, just say the word. Like why sway bars are a proverbial free lunch and should always be as thick as possible. Etc.😉
@@shannons6695 They're usually unsprung weight so roadholding will improve if you toss them.Situational awareness obviates the necessity for brakes anyway.
I've put tint on of course the windows and i put some on my taillights, done a muffler delete but it really isnt loud enough for my liking so I'm gonna do a res delete next, after that an intake and a lip and diffuser 😂
modern cars have soft swaybars because the focus is comfort while driving on the roads and less feel for the bumps and such on the streets, a stiff swaybar makes the response way more so you feel everything which is uncomfortable

Remember with new LED bulbs to readjust your beams. The low beams height should be the same height as the headlight housing, at about 10ft away. The driver side beam should be twisted slightly in, and the passenger beam ever slightly out.
how do you do this
@@supermaxr5093 Theres two screws on the headlight housing to adjust each axis.
Muffler delete, air intake, headers, and new wheels on my 2003 G35 Infiniti so far. Once I start modding my car I just couldn’t stop, it’s so addictive XD
i did a muffler delete today, i had to cut it off, didnt have a hacksaw, used a hand saw and it took me 3 hours
That probably sounds horrible lol
Why didnt you just rent the tool
😂😂 u ruined ur shit
Damn
why didn't you just unbolt that entire exhaust section?
So park ur car on the side of the road is what I learned from this
As an Aussie lookin a first car content I'm so glad the YT Algorytm actually recommended me an Aussie channel for once instead of an American one
As someone who just entered the car scene and drives a Camry your video made me feel validated:,)
what about an exhaust cutout? ive got one, and its great for a daily. When going to work early, getting home late, or avoiding the police, its great to have a choice at your fingertips.
How long have you had it for and do you know if it leaks?
@@sugamai ive had it installed for about a month now, and so far i haven't noticed any leaks. Just make sure its a good design though, the cheap ones tend to leak. I got mine from summit racing.
Great first car mods I'd say is LS swap twin supercharger, giant cam, and air intake the size of the moon
The sage has spoken
Sounds cheap-
Ok doing this to my Honda Civic
Yes actually mods
fun and affordable
Very nice ideas. My first mad was LED headlights and, license plate lights. 2nd muffler swap. Third rain guards.
On my first mod now with the lights too! Nice list to follow
just remember not to go too crazy with headlights. you dont want permanent highbeams for headlights blinding oncoming traffic. instead of going for the brightest ones you can get go for the color shade you want and find decent ones that wont give everyone else lasik driving down the road. brighter highbeams, spotlights, or extra lights you can turn on and off seperate to your headlights are a good option if you want to see far down the road at night
Glass in halogen headlights is designed to diffuse light from halogen headlights only, so you need to change glass too, or the whole headlight
Hey rex I was the kid with the glasses on the bike today! thanks for showing us around your MR2 it was such a clean car and made my day cheers!

Definitely #1 thing to do:
PHHHHAAAAATTTT TURBOOOO
As many as you can, remove the hood if needed. MORE POWAA

Cool vid tho 👌 😎

POD FILTER!! Rex you were the guy that convinced me to get one on my 98’ Vienta haha thank you so much! Best mod everrr 😜
Hahahaha mad! And it's definitely my fav mod for the Camry ! Might lose some power ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk but the sound Is nuts
Best muffler delete I've ever done was resonator back delete on my B7 Passat 1.8t. Sounds amazing. I also did a bypass valve spacer so I could get the turbo woosh.
is it illegal to do a resonator delete? tempted
@@szxci9885 depends, but usually no. It’s the cats and mufflers they get upset about.

Completely agree and muffle delete is easy and cheap, but in the long run you’ll for sure lose mpg meaning you’ll be spending more money on gas
how are you gonna lose mpg from a muffler delete?
Number 1: Sticker bomb the lower wing (fender) with stickers from companies you aren't sponsored by for extra BHP.
Well in the UK there is laws about how loud a car is allowed to be on the road so that why people use performance exhaust for better sound. And plus they are introducing 'Noise cameras' to target those vehicles they call too noisy.
that’s dumb
Smart. Loud cars are obnoxious. Sorry guys. I like cars, but making them loud in a city is a crappy thing.
Heat shield is what is needed I assume for the pod filters.

Just got my first car, loved the video bro!
I put an intake in my 99 bonneville and it sounds freakin hot dude. would recommend 9/10
Personally as a first quick modification to a car I normally suggest a extra set of brake pads just incase of braking issues and maybe some seat belts cause personally ima very tall individual and the normal selt belts cut my neck at times and cam get a bit uncomfortable so some after market seat belts or racing belts I also do agree with the muffler delete as a cheap thing to do as well
1:18 muffler delete *me living in Switzerland* yea sounds like a great idea!
Just got my first car. A beautiful 1.4 golf tsi it’s a 2010 aiming to get some cosmetics first before I do any performance based upgrades
My first mod is always the muffler delete and turbo muffler delete if stock turbo
2nd cold air intake
3rd window and rear shield (for weather and looks)
4th tent windows
5 just have fun
Great content as always! Thinking of starting my own channel soon! Gunna start the channel and do a mod series on my stock 1999 Camry XLE v6. you inspired me!
just an fyi, installing performance modifications on a vehicle without tuning it is going to decrease horsepower more often than not, the intake for example will be adding more air to the engine but the ecu doesnt know that so it injects insufficient fuel for best combustion and will decrease power due to your air fuel mixture being more lean
Complete bs, get a k&n filter.
Facts
As soon as i saw your MR2 my freaking jaw dropped, seriously my dream car
🤤🤤🤤
Loving the chaser 😍🥵🥳
my first modification to my car was either tint or rims(granted i went from factory steel to factory alloy, still looks 10x better then before), then the next mod was the exhaust(had dual Flowmaster 40 series installed on my car by a shop, i would have tried but, they needed to be welded in, looks and sounds good, I have a video of how it sounds on my channel), but that is where i left off due to the transmission failing in it, and cant have it fixed anytime soon, but it will be back and even stronger then before
this is perfect i get an altima soon and i needed ideas
sell it and get something you can modify
Bro the sound when you walked outside was so nice
Exhaust, sway bars, short throw shifter, LED headlights, and a performance air filter. Nice !

good video. I deleted the muffler (better sound), installed a catch can for the oil (not sure if it improved), changed rear brakes from drum to disc,
Corrola guy here- 2000 series CE 💪THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO!!!
Seeing as it can be illegal in Canada, we're better off getting a full cat-back exhaust system, muffler delete would be nice, but excessive sound can get us in trouble with the law
same in the Uk :(
Most cars have resonators and deleting the muffler can make a very good sound without being ridiculously loud. Never.
Me with my parents old car and almost no money: Yep this video is for me
My too 5 first I’d say is wheels-suspension -wrap/paint- exhaust- cold air intake and ik there very controversial but those 5 things give a good look and starting ground because those 5 things stick out to me the most when I pass a car at a meet or on the road

Etc.😉
If you remove your brakes your car will be faster also, weight reduction baby!
@@shannons6695 They're usually unsprung weight so roadholding will improve if you toss them.Situational awareness obviates the necessity for brakes anyway.

I think the best would be to change rims on the wheels because the rims are one of the first things you look at on a car
also lighter weight, slightly bigger to allow a bigger (upgraded) brake package and wrapped in good quality rubber. 100%
Hi, question. If mods like sway bars etc drastically improve the handling and feel, then are they standard on more modern cars? Cheers
yes they are, when you get aftermarket sway bars they are bigger/stronger and usually adjustable. thats where you get the better handling from :)
@@arcanevoid9199 great thanks 👍
modern cars have soft swaybars because the focus is comfort while driving on the roads and less feel for the bumps and such on the streets, a stiff swaybar makes the response way more so you feel everything which is uncomfortable
