Vacuum Dryer Lint Hack

  • Опубліковано 19 сер 2024
  • Today, I'm going to show you a little hack that I made so that I will be able to clean my dryer's lint trap..no not the lint trap filter...this you can easily clean..the one I'm talking about is the inside and down the dryer after the lint filter. This is the place that your regular vacuum hose is not able to reach. They sell those lint vent brushes but still is not able to clean it thoroughly. I know everybody or everybody should know that you need to keep up in cleaning the lint trap and occasionally at least once a year, you need to clean out the vents of your dryer to prevent fire...

An easier method is just to use a paper towel cardboard roll and you can flatten that at one end to fit the deep crevice in the dryer and tape it to your vacuum nozzle.

Bravo on the cardboard tube. I will try that. The hack PVC hack was very smart and well done (but I would risk melting my distracted self.
I have an electric dryer and I unplug it and un-clamp and remove the plastic corrugated hose then use the regular shop vacuum hose inside the dryer under the drum. I wonder if the area under the filter chute is open to where I was vacuuming. Fortunately there is only 6 inches from the corrugated hose to the pipe outside so that is easy to clean. I did get my hand down the filter chute and pulled out a wad of lint, but bruised my hand and it was not a good cleaning. Also the dryer hums but the drum doesn't spin so I can't use it now. Someone said the fan will stop and maybe hum if there is too much lint on thr There are hex head things on some metal plates on the back that I don't know if I can get off. Don't know what they are for. I Relatives had a fire from their dryer. The family got out safely but there was much damage to the home. I actually don't mind hanging my clothes to dry in the house and doing a bit of ironing.

Let me try swifter duster first. Few years ago moved into an old house with an 2001 washer/dryer. The electric dryer made this burnt smell, and I stopped it immediately. Watched YT and opened up the whole dryer. Guess what? The lint was clogged all the way from inside the lint filter to the back exhaust exit. Inside the dryer, the heating element/metal was also rusted and partially burnt/disconnected with lint burnt on it. Thus the burnt smell. Bought the heating element from sears parts for less than $100 and replaced. Thanks to people like you posting DIY videos.

Bravo! Thanks for this excellent tip! I have bought a new dryer and I cleaned my dryer tubing before installing the dryer, and I want to keep things in tip-top efficiency. Another approach would be to 3D print a longer crevice tool so that it is both long enough for the lint trap and fits the hose properly and snugly. Thank you for an amazingly inventive suggestion that will help a lot of people and even prevent fires and keep people safe.

One thing I also do for a step also is the side plastic side vent caps that are removable. I pop these out and with a flashlight I vacuum out all the lint inside under the drum. Depending on the condition and age of the appliance. If really bad I disassemble it by removing the main drum and do a deep clean, and use metal tape and cover all the small leak areas where lint gets into the underneath the drum. Great video.

Alright, there's some lint in the screen filter housing, but is less than 10% of the lint you have inside the dryer. If you have a dryer used for more than 2 or 3 years call a dryer technician to disassemble it and clean it, that's the safest thing to do.

I've blasted through 15 terrible videos just to get to this one. I can tell in the first 5 seconds if I'm going to like a video and I approve of yours only because of the sensible approach and reasonable structure. But I'll tell you like I tell all the other lint trap dreamers: you have to take the dryer apart to get the lint out otherwise your wasting your time. The glory hole of lint is usually in the bottom and its going to blow your mind! Keep researching and get it done right! Great idea though, with the vacuum cleaner, I'm going to build a central vacuum with some sort of PVC pipe like that. Next mission: procure exLAX and then get some sleep and stop dreaming about those little plastic lint trap apparatus. Be a MAN and get that lint monster hiding in the bottom (You MUST remove the drum to do it right!). Best regards, you're a trooper and I'll be waiting for that video.

Great hack, but I have a minor mod to it that may be safer. Instead of PVC pipe, get a golf club tube (used to separate clubs in a golf bag. You cut to a reasonable length and then can press it down and it will hold the creases on either side. The golf club tube should be the perfect size to fit over the vacuum hose.

Why not get a Phillips screw driver, remove the 6 screws holding the filter cage in? Better access to all the nooks and crannies in there and you are able to get far more lint out than using the tube thing. This is "hack" is a fancy solution to a simple issue.

This is a joke! You're not really cleaning anything or at least anything important. Most of the dangerous lint needs to be blowing out of the heating elements and then vacuumed. Next all the lint trapped around the fan and shroud. In other words you need to take the back of the dryer off! Lastly you need to clean out the vent all the way to the outside.

Not that long...try your vacuum attachment and you will see it will not work.

@@LifeHackster It get down as far as yours did. Anyway, a $14 flexible and extendable lint brush is much more effective. It gets deep inside and loosens up all the lint all the way through. After that, just turn on the dryer and all the shit gets blown right out the back. You can use it on the dryer vent hose too. You wasted your time making that useless thing..
