Definitely read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first! It's a wintery/Christmas book and The Magician's Nephew is not. It was also the first book in the series to be published and The Magician's Nephew was published sixth (or second-to-last). In my opinion, you partially spoil The Magician's Nephew by reading it first because it will give you answers to questions you were never asking instead of solving a lot of little mysteries from the previously-published books.
The first book of Chronicles of Narnia, according to how the books came out originally, is The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe, and if I may recommend - do read the book in the old order! The story evolves more interestingly and mysterious in front of you. In the new order all the little wonders are stripped right away!
The Lion the Witch and the wardrobe is a great Christmas read as it's all about how Narnia is stuck in a winter without Christmas. I need to watch the film again soon, and then maybe the Doctor Who Christmas special that was based on it.
I was LITERALLY just talking to my friend about now you did Bookmas last year and was wondering if you were doing is this year too! So excited! All the stress is worth it!!
Hey Hailey! are you going to be posting a list of the topics for each day in the description somewhere? So we can take a picture and keep track of what to do each day! :)
For Chronicles of Narnia there are two ways of reading it. The numerical way starting with The Magician's Nephew or do it by publication way which book one starts with The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe. The Magician's Nephew is pretty much like a prequel to the series. The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe is set during winter. Just a heads up.
Very excited for this. Also, I've just finished reading The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily, which is the second book in the Dash and Lily series. It was a great Christmas read. I'm also set to read Finding Audrey in January as part of the Zoella book club.
My best friend loves the Chronicles of Narnia. She suggests ignoring the Magician's Apprentice. Skip to the second book. It's the only reason I never read it... I always got stuck on the first book.
So I have "won't you be my reading light" stuck in my head now, whenever I hear the Rudolf song these past few days that's where I go, thanks for that.
This is such a great idea! I will be doing the videos for booksmas and I'll try to participate in the readathon as well. Not a spoiler but The magicians nephew isn't as wintery and the second one but it is a lovely book and I recommend all of the books from Narnia
I highly recommend reading Narnia in the order of which the books were published instead of the chronicle order. If you read it in chronicle order you will spoil some books :)
I loved The Little Prince! It's a great read. For Narnia, I would warn you, you are better off starting in the order he published them not in the order they take place in!!! The Magician's Nephew was one of the last books he wrote and a lot of the themes he talks about reference the other books and its main purpose is to deepen what has been previously read. Hope that helps you and enjoy!
Read The Chronicles of Narnia in published order, not chronological order. Start with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. That's the first movie they made as well.
actually the author wanted people to start with the magician's nephew and as far as i can tell she owns edition published by harpercollins and they list this one as first installment, so she probably just took the book with big 1 on it xD
Monika S that's actually a misconception. HarperCollins changed the book order after he died. If he wanted them in chronological order, he would have changed it when he was still alive. trust me, before i started reading them I did research, so I would know in which order to read.
Your videos bring me so much joy! Keep up the fantastic work! I wasn't incredibly into reading until I found your videos and I read much more often than I used to, you helped me find another one of hobbies! Thank you for that! 💓
I love this! I will be participating as best I can in the comments each day! I'm also behind on my Goodreads goal... by 19 books! Not sure if I can finish it, but I am going to try!
Totally finding out about this readathon at the last minute! I need to read my ARC of Caraval next too! Holy cow I almost forgot it's been sitting on my shelf for months! Do you want to buddy read it for the readathon?
The Nephew is a prequel in the Narnia series, you shouldn't judge the series on it :) I have not read it but I can't imagine it being better than The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe :)
I also am Canadian and work at my local Chapters (a version of Indigo). Just keep an eye out for deals throughout the year on books. Signing up for emails helps.
If you do not mind used (but like new condition) books, then go, value village, dolarama, and dollar three , love those stores , I got harry potter and vampire academy from there.(brand new < i am very picky, so I look through them and make sure they look perfect).
I just realized you changed your channel name lol. I need to catch up on my reading goal too so I will be reading like a madman trying to fit in as many books (aka graphic novels lol) as I can!
I participated last year and had a lot of fun, so hopefully I can also join in this year! I will definitely be reading Dash and Lily has my first book! I run a book club with HS students and that was our December pick! :) Merry #bookmas everyone!
The Chronicles of Narnia were so boring and hard to get trough :D I really didn't like 'em much but I can't stop in the middle of a series. I always force myself to finish 'em :D
This is going to be so fun! 😊 I have a blog and I'll post pictures on instagram plus tweet you! My voice is gone so I can't make videos 😰 Thank you for your awesome videos! 💓
Gonna have to play devil's advocate here and differ from most of the other commenters because I prefer reading the Chronicles of Narnia in chronological order, it's the way I grew up reading them and allows you to follow the characters' journeys much more easily than jumping around the timeline. Also don't be put off by people telling you to skip The Magician's Nephew! Imo it's a lot more interesting and complex than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
hey i was wondering if you could please help me. UA-camrs will leave a link saying get a free audible book. When i click on it i am just so confused on how to get my free book. Anybody or Hailey please help thx!
If you follow their link, it will take you to the link so click it. Then create an account or if you have an Amazon account, you can sign in through them. It will ask for your credit card number, but don't worry, because they won't charge for the trial. They only need it if you continue the service. Once you've signed up, pick your free book and you can listen to it online or download it to your phone or computer through their app. Just remember to cancel before 30 days by going to your account page and canceling.

START WITH THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE!!
The Magicians Nephew is best to read LAST! :D
Definitely read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first! It's a wintery/Christmas book and The Magician's Nephew is not. It was also the first book in the series to be published and The Magician's Nephew was published sixth (or second-to-last). This is such a great idea! I will be doing the videos for booksmas and I'll try to participate in the readathon as well.
Not a spoiler but The magicians nephew isn't as wintery and the second one but it is a lovely book and I recommend all of the books from Narnia
I was wondering, will there be any challenges regarding the readathon?
(like, read a book with red on the cover?)
Read six of crows-Leigh bardugo and red Queen-Victoria Aveyard, believe me they are amazing😊
The little prince is one of my favorite books ever! So good 🙌🏼
Hey! I have finally read Salt to the Sea!! I love the book. The ending kind of confused me but it fixed that
I loved your last Bookmas video's so I am very looking forward to this year
I highly recommend reading Narnia in the order of which the books were published instead of the chronicle order. If you read it in chronicle order you will spoil some books :)
I'm excited for Bookmas! I am going to try and take part on my blog.

HAPPY BOOKMAS! Very excited about all of this!

I prefer to read things in chronological order so I'm going to start with Magician's nephew 😊
Monika S that's actually a misconception. HarperCollins changed the book order after he died. If he wanted them in chronological order, he would have changed it when he was still alive. trust me, before i started reading them I did research, so I would know in which order to read.
I am going to make my first attempt book tree this year, any tips? I find them so fun but intimidating to make!

Hi! I just want to know how to save on books? I live in Canada and I want to buy several books at once but they're really expensive in indigo.
I also am Canadian and work at my local Chapters (a version of Indigo). Just keep an eye out for deals throughout the year on books. Signing up for emails helps.
Hailey In Bookland Okay. Thank you so much!
If you do not mind used (but like new condition) books, then go, value village, dolarama, and dollar three , love those stores , I got harry potter and vampire academy from there.(brand new < i am very picky, so I look through them and make sure they look perfect).
BooksAmL Thank you! I usually go to thrift stores to buy books but new releases aren't there so I have to go to Indigo.
Also if you do want to buy from Indigo, they are usually a little cheaper online. so keep that in mind :)
