Marieke Nijkamp is a Dutch writer (I'm also Dutch) and she wrote her book in English and then it got translated to Dutch. She is one of my favourite authors because you don't see it very often that people write in a language that is not their own
Books and cleverness haha I met her and she is really nice and haha I asked her if it wasn't hard to write a book in English but she told me she's better in English and haha would find it very hard and difficult to write a book in Dutch and she said she probably wouldn't be able to do it. hope you get the chance to meet her
I just marathoned your videos I love them so much and I think I've seen a couple of tags that you originally made and that's just so cool I can never come up with a good tag😂💓
Hey, I never usually leave comments on videos but I just have to say that I recently stumbled across your channel and you are quickly becoming one of my favourite youtubers. I absolutely love all your videos and the way your personality shines through and I can see how much work and time you put into your videos to make them the best.
I picked up Of Fire and Stars last week, but I basically added all the other ones to my amazon wish list. I haven't been reading much this year and I'm finally getting back into it and I feel like I missed so many amazing books! I have some catching up to do!
I really enjoyed the crown's game! it was so magical and mystical. It felt poetic at times but overall the storyline was easy to engage with and understand :)
Hi Hailey! I'm really enjoying Bookmas. :) Maybe next year I will be able to do a Book tree. :) Just wanted to let you know - though, you might have noticed - that there were two cut scenes that made it into this video.
i read the magicians nephew and i read the lion the witch and the wardrobe a few years ago. I wish I would have read the other one first. i'll be reading the lion next and we'll see how it goes the 2nd time around :)
Don't know if someone reacted already, but Marieke Nijkamp is pronounced: Mahreekuh Naikahmp (if you know what I mean with that). And thanks. That is one of the few YA books I still want to try. YA is not really my cup of tea, but this is where it ends& Six of Crows I do want to try out. They just sound so good :D.
Stephanie Ann I gave it like 3,5 stars but i agree its not that bad I just had some issues with it but also I couldn't stop reading it and she put some diverse characters in her book and I always like that and she is dutch and has written this book in English so yeah ofcourse i would read it
I read this is where it ends, and at first I thought wow this is going to be such a great book, but to be honest I didn't really enjoy it. I just read it to finish it since I had already started it and I hate leaving books partially read. Excited to hear what you think about it!
I'm Dutch so when you said the name Marieke Nijkamp I giggled because you pronounce it so differently haha! You pronounce "Nij" like "Nye" as in Bill Nye" and Kamp like "Khamp". You should check out The hate you give by Angie Thomas. It's about a black girl seeing her best friend getting shot, inspired by the Black lives matter movement. It's coming out next year also.
Rosa yes! I got it right! (I know this comment isn't directed towards me but oh well.) I'm so glad I know how to say her second name. I want to read that book also. It sounds really good
Hahaha marieke nijkamp is a dutch name and every time i hear people say it i just laugh haha. I know you guys can help it but it is just really funny haha
I love how you pronounced Marieke Nijkamp. I'm Dutch so I know how we Dutchies pronounce it. Always so funny to have non-Dutch speaking persons trying to pronounce typical Dutch names / words (and yes you said it very wrong).
Renate Smit you don't pronounce the j, right? I know in Nijmegen you don't so I assume you don't in nijkamp either. Am I right?? (Id love to be right!)
Hey Hailey, have you read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaleed Hosseini? I loved this book a lot. I think everyone should read it..Its an intense and life changing book.
This is where it ends wasn't my favorite... I was really looking forward to reading it because it seems like such a unique book and for some reason I like books that make me cry, but I didnt feel much of anything with the book. I couldn't connect with the characters, and didn't feel any emotion from them or the author. However I did read it rather quickly just to get through it, so don't not read it because of me. I'd be interested to hear your opinion if you do pick it up!
idk if this will help but its pronounced ma-reek-e nay-kamp. Man idk how people come up with pronunciation guides that was hard and I'm not sure itll work since I do speak Dutch :p
I read This is Where it Ends and for me it was really disappointing. It focussed on the wrong things when it is such an important subject that should be handled with care.
Annebelle Bosch I agree with you. I was very disappointed by This is Where it Ends. It had a lot of potential but focused on the wrong things. glad to see I'm not the only one that felt that way.
I agree, school shootings are such a delicate and important subject to talk about these days, but I felt this book did it all wrong. In my opinion it was disrespectful towards people who are dealing with the aftermath of school shootings.
yes i agree! i just felt there was such potential .. and while reading I did appreciate the book.. but once I got to the end... I realized that I didn't like this book at all :(
Oh my goodness!!! Thank you so much for featuring my channel!! Me and myla were super excited to see this, this morning!!! 😁

Watched all of Haileys videos except the Christmas ones! Bookmas is a Christmas GAME CHANGER 😍😍😭
I read the Narnia books in chronological order and thought it was fine. Hope you're enjoying it!
JustaLittleBitRandom I'm also doing it and i think it just makes sooo much sense
I loved Rebel of the Sands! I can't wait for the second one!
The crown's game is probably one of the best books ever!
I can totally relate because I always start one book then start another book. And read 2 books at the same time
The Star-Touched Queen is one of the best books I read this year- can't wait for you to read it!
I just marathoned your videos I love them so much and I think I've seen a couple of tags that you originally made and that's just so cool I can never come up with a good tag😂💓
The crown's game looks so gooodddd!
I'm loving your Bookmas videos! I definitely suggest reading Rebel of the Sands, it's very original and exciting :)
I love Bookmas! I noticed the repeat of The Crown's Game too but it didn't affect my enjoyment :)

This is where it ends is a book I still really need to read! I love pretty your bookshelves look!!!
I really enjoyed the crown's game! it was so magical and mystical. It felt poetic at times but overall the storyline was easy to engage with and understand :)
My favorite debut novel is Dreamology by Lucy Keating. I think that book is super cool!!
This Is Where It Ends is soooooo good!!!
I love your bookmas videos!!

manal sha Same 😂
I love The Crown's Game! It's definitely one of my favorites of the year :)
sushidragonmaster what is it about?
Demi Spelbos It's about these two people competing to be the tsar's imperial enchanter. It takes place in Russia in 1825, it's a historical fantasy.
sushidragonmaster that sounds pretty great!
Have you read "The Thousandth Floor" and will you PLEASE do a review!
I just finished This is Where it Ends, I gave it 4 stars. I had a couple minor issues with it but some people have been knocking it hard!
Stephanie Ann I gave it like 3,5 stars but i agree its not that bad I just had some issues with it but also I couldn't stop reading it and she put some diverse characters in her book and I always like that and she is dutch and has written this book in English so yeah ofcourse i would read it

Jasmijn Zielman yupp i am the same 😂😂 people can't pronounce dutch names
Jasmijn Zielman hahah yes i can't help but laugh everytime i hear it
I saw revel in the sand when it came out and I was going to buy it but I never did! 😂
We combine the i and j to form a combination that kind of sounds like the letter y in English. Just like in Nijmegen!
READ THE WAY I USED TO BE IT IS AMAZING
Assassin's Heart was really good. I hope you love it. (:
I was really bummed by the crowns game
how old do you have to be to work at chapters/indigo/Coles?
Who thinks she should make a vlog channel?
how was my bookmas tree on instagram
Hey Hailey, have you read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaleed Hosseini? I loved this book a lot. I think everyone should read it..Its an intense and life changing book.
Debolina Roy He has written 3 books till now and all of them are really very impactful, you can never get dissappointed reading Khaled Hosseini

Nothing to do with the video but i think you're calendar needs changing. I think it's still on November. 😝 Also who is on it? I can't tell lol.

so early :))
The Star-touched Queen was 100% a waste of my time but hey, that's just my opinion
Are these new videos undersaturated? They are usually very vibrant but these last two look very washed out.
