Hey Wild Woman I have two suggestions for you to make things a little easier in this process. If you extend the length of the handle on your water purification it will be much easier to push through because you will have much greater leverage. The same is also true with the washing process. Make a taller handle or make a fulcrum like what you have for the purification process. The other suggestion I have for you is to put your cameraman to work doing something harder than just carrying the video camera around. I liked your ideas and systems here. Very effective. I hope all is well with you.

Another suggestion for laundry detergent is Baking Soda. It's very inexpensive and washes clothes as good as regular detergents. Since it's so inexpensive...you can buy a lot ahead of time and store it. Mix a half teaspoon of dish soap for bubbles and smell with the baking soda per load of laundry. For more information you can view tons of videos on the subject.

Hey Vanessa… when it comes to work, leverage is everything. If you extend the handle on your water filter pump,(say with a 3’ x 1 1/2” pipe) it will be much easier to handle. Also true of the plunger. Extend the handle and you can operate from the standing position.

I know you have shown it before, but if you could also demonstrate your rain water collection method, everyone could make a complete water source for all needs. Vanessa if you tape, wire or clamp a longer stick to your pump it will give you increased leverage and easier to pump the water. Keep the extra stick with your filter kit too. I love your video Vanessa and thank you for sharing with us. I have seen this done when I was young 60 years ago raised on farm.

Many construction trades use these buckets. Many can be found in the dumpsters. Painter, dry wallers, ect use them by the tons in construction. In a crisis u may check the garbage / recycling bins if u dont have. Thanks vanessa for sharing tips.

I'm amazed at such good washing larvae suds from the Ive leaves , you just need away to keep your rain water cleaner it would save a lot of aggravation getting it clean , there is the old way of using a wash tub and board and roller mangal. Owen.

Very cool Vanessa! I learn something each time I watch your videos, in this case about the chestnut and ivy. Thank you! The American writer John Steinbeck, in his travelogue book Travels with Charley (highly recommended) describes his laundry process as placing his dirty clothes in a bucket with water and soap and then as he is driving in his truck camper the natural motion of the vehicle over the road provides the agitation to clean. He would rinse at the next available source of clean water (stream or lake).😁
I spent close to $70 for. A wonder washer and if I would have ben creative like you I could've got the plunger and bucket for less than $20 you can bet I will get those 2 items for just in case moments. Thank you for these ideas

Oh, if you could find a section of pipe that was a bit longer and bigger around, in diameter, slip it over the handle on the water filter lever and make it longer, it would be easier to pump.

for drilling thin plastic and metal, i prefer a 'step drill', cuts beautifully, even chamfers the hole, and one device can cut from 4 mm to about 20 mm..

Cheeky video that one 😊 Good idea though. The plastic 25 litre tubs that paint comes in are quite strong plastic and can often be found in a skip, old acrylic paint tubs would be easier to clean.

Wash board , I think that's what you meant , it's the way everyone in the past use to do it in America , before machinery . It's very hard to do something like jeans in it ( or with it ) but I don't know if your " bucket and plunger " would be easier or not . I couldn't imagine doing a week's worth of a family's laundry , either way , but that's how they did it in the past . When will you do a bushcraft , camping video again ? Those are my favorite , especially now with winter on the way .

Vanessa! You are so wonderful 💗 and 🤣 funny! As for washing, the clothes get clean, but the plant matter sticks to the clothes... Before using the water for washing, why not filter the water first to remove plant debris 🤔?
