As a boomer I’d give you the same advice I’d give my daughters and grandchildren. I’d move campsite and check your vehicles for tracking devices. I've never seen your channel before today but the thought of anyone stalking a young lady is extremely unsettling. Let the police know what’s going on. If you have a partner or spouse keep in touch with them while solo camping. I know that takes away from the experience but it’s better to be safe.
I think that's all great advice. Sad though it is I think setting up some motion cameras could help. Catching this idiot on camera could be invaluable in identifying him. It would be sensible for Vanessa to get a restraining order in place.
I totally agree with you. This is also the first video I have seen, it’s Terrifying the thought of someone stalking a young woman and she’s also solo camping, I am glad she has things to defend herself and her dog too. I hope she can find somewhere else far away from that camp she had made. It’s heartbreaking seeing her going though this on her own. She’s braver than me!!

This is excellent advice. Be protective, change locations, have someone always with you, someone to film perhaps. In the USA we carry firearms for protection. Always carry and make it part of your show with security awareness and firearm proficiency. Don't be a target in our vicious world, wherever you are at. Best wishes I enjoy your show.

I know it will sound like I watch too many crime movies, but if a person can get a tracker for their pets nowadays imagine how simple it would be for a stalker to put something on the underside of your car. Yes, that's a good idea, people can get trackers for their luggage and simply stick it to your car. I think there is an app that you can get for your phone that will run a check to see if there is a gps tag near by. I would do a physical/visual check also. Stay safe.
I just said much the same, but related to her cell phone and Google account. If they have gained (hacked) access to her Google account they can track her through GPS that way too, not just a GPS device like an Apple air tag or whatever. I've heard of it happening before and it's actually what cops use to track people too. They don't need to go to all the trouble of trangulating your cell phone like years ago, they can just get access to your Google account, which follows you via the phone's GPS, so they can send you targeted ads when you are near a place that advertizes with them.
As a fellow shelter builder, I really feel for you. This is just disgusting. Pack up, leave the area and find a new location. This place is done. I get that it's hard to do but you must be safe.

At your next campsite you need to set up multiple trail cameras in places that it cannot be tampered with. Then you will have video proof if the stalker returns. Prayers for your safety!
Cellular game cameras so she gets pics sent to her phone and email and also if the camera is stolen she can track it.
Put one or more in such a place that wherever the closest vehicular access points are you'll be able to photograph license plates. Tracking someone down by a picture of their face at a bad angle is hard. License plates on the other hand . . .
You can correlate the time of their appearance with the time that certain vehicles arrived and the police can work with that, comparing the person's physical appearance with the drivers of each vehicle.

For you to just dismiss that with a few words without sharing proof is to me very irresponsible and frankly quite sick.
I agree to some extent that we have to be careful trusting (for us) unknown UA-camrs (I have never heard or watched this woman’s channel before, it was recommend in my feed with a title that made me want to watch it).
Some UA-camrs sadly destroys the legitimacy of all UA-camrs because there are some who go to extreme lengths to get more views and subscribers to get more fame / money. It’s disgraceful and sadly not very uncommon.
If that’s the case here, she’s very cruel to her audience.
However I wouldn’t dismiss her serious claims by throwing empty allegations out there as you are doing, stating that she made it all up herself. Especially if you don’t know the person, just typing a few words without proof.
That makes me more suspicious of you becasue it’s not normal to say and do such a thing Unkess you truly know and present why you believe or know that this is the case.
Regardless, it serves as a reminder to people going alone into the woods, camping or hiking. There are strange people and creatures out there and one should never let there guard down, even if there are no dangerous animals in the area.
There are many mentally ill people who are filing the streets, go rogue into the bush etc.
One can’t simply enjoy the nature anymore which is sad.
Never go alone, arm yourself, put trail cams from where you park the car to the camp site in a position so that it would capture a person trying to remove one of them. It’s worth while especially if she’s being stalked.
It’s very creepy and scary. The person who did that and left a note with a photo should be locked up.

Vanessa - I would submit that threatening document and the pictures to the local police and let them investigate. There have to be fingerprints and other supporting evidence to ferret out who did this... You have a strong spirit and will get through this, just make sure to see the right kind of help to get things back on the right track and it might be a good idea to have an off-camera (or maybe even on-camera) person be with you on the future missions for the time being. Keep going strong - you'll prevail!
They could take samples of the feces to find any DNA
The police won't investigate the destruction but will investigate a threat to one's person. Fingerprints will not be available. Try and camp where it can't be seen.
I've had similar things happen to me when I ran my travel channel. They police MAY come out and take a report, but ultimately I could tell they didn't really care. I even had death threats and everything. I basically shut down my channel because it was just to unsafe to keep it up. Stalkers are crazy and scary!

This is very disturbing. I wouldn't be surprised if your destroyed camp was being covered by a trail camera as you were talking. They either followed you there or you were electronically tracked. This is my first encounter with your channel and I'm very concerned about your safety based upon what occurred. What you present here is something everyone needs to understand which is the world is a dangerous place and unfortunately it has found its way into wilderness areas. I used to solo backpack and camp and I always kept my head on a swivel not just because of mountain lions, bears and wolves but also because of people. I was an active nature photographer and I will say that it is easy to become so immersed in the process of photography that you can become distracted from potential threats. You might also consider various camp perimeter alarms for when you sleep at a solo camp. Please be safe.
You should not be alone! The person is escalating his or her interest in you. Report this incident to the police so they have a record of the issues you're having now.
Next time you see anything like the photo and/or note, try not to touch it; take a picture first, then wrap it in a cloth and take it to the police.

Yeah it happened to me also and once I knew about what the men were doing one of the weirdo's sat behind me in an AA group. I just gave him a weird look. They really try hard to scare people and at the end of the day they are lonely weirdo's with no life it's actually pretty sad but they choose to live that way instead of getting help. The guy even pretended that he was going to college to be a pastor yet he was a predator. After camping in the woods for over 5 years alone I myself was recently stalked. Never really had the need for protection but after that I won't go with out. The fact that this person went out their way to destroy your camp but also leave behind a message and photo of you is extreme and dangerous. Always have your protection and have fun. Sorry this happened to you. Lots of lessons to take from this, all of us need to be really careful, safe, cautious, and vigilant at all times, and increasing so as this world decays.
I'd say the primary lesson is that everyone needs to stop thinking they can post private things online and actually expect them to stay private. There are plenty of scumbags out there who thrive off of looking at people's posts and using small details to figure out how to find them. It's ridiculous for anyone to think they can make regular posts and expect that none of the 8 billion people on this earth are going to use it to hurt them.

Hey Vanessa! I've followed you for a few years now and I'm saddened that your love for bushcrafting is compromised by some jerk. Only advice I can give you is to stay armed. Don't rely on your dog to protect you. Too many times, dog companions have been neutralized. Think about using perimeter alarms at your campsites but set them up discreetly in the event that you have a watcher. Have your sidearm at the ready at all times and don't feel bad about it. The alternative could be much worse. And lastly, there is an old saying here in the states that goes, "I'd rather be judged by Twelve, than be carried by Six". Meaning facing a court instead of your funeral. That said, don't be afraid to USE YOUR WEAPON, if a threat arises. BE Smart, Be Ready, BE SAFE! Phil from Massachusetts, USA

Even to creepily / blatantly msg you, it’s already harassment if your instincts are constantly making you uncomfortable. Take screenshots of those messages and keep a file database for proof. I am a dude and I wouldn’t even hang out in the woods by myself honestly. You just never know these days when some psycho will come around and if you’re alone, there’s really nothing you can do if they get the jump on you when you’re not aware or you’re asleep.not to mention so many people go missing in the woods.

@@andrewwaggoner1831 Not slim now that her camp has been destroyed. Danger is everywhere, but in the wild there is no one to help you or hear you scream. I looked up stats, the US south is more violent than the north, and the rural oddly have more crime rates. But, yeah, I lived in NYc and never felt super safe ~ but the woods are creepy now, there are tons of predators seeing them as easy happy hunting grounds. She has a stalker now most likely, and is in the cross hairs.
Totally agreed. I saw stealth camping vids recently (didn’t even realise before it was a thing) and all the time I was thinking I’d never want to sleep at night, god knows who’d stumble upon you while you’re sleeping. I think even wild animals like coyotes and foxes are safer to be around at night.

My suggestion, set your own hidden trail camera's to catch this creep in the act, avoid that area from now on and find somewhere new, far from from the old, and perhaps team up/collaborate with someone like Lilly, that you know and trust so you are not alone; that will benefit you both. There's nothing worse than someone coming along and ruining all of the hard work and sweat you put into building this. I'm sorry you had to walk up to your camp and find it like this. I would definitely be installing some hidden trail cameras at and around the camp. Hopefully this will never happen again!
That’s a great idea, sadly the chances of this person doing this again, either following you or destroying your camp are probably pretty high, do what you can to protect yourself, and if you can catch them on a trail cam, there’s no better evidence than a video. Hopefully I’m praying this doesn’t happen to you again, but should this person be dumb enough to do do it again (especially after seeing this video) and all the great advice you’ve received, they will be caught and put in jail where they belong.

This is the first time I've come across your channel; this video showed up in my suggestions feed. I'm so sorry you had to deal with an insane/evil person trying to terrorise you; because I'm convinced that's the motive. I'm a city woman who, for the last year or so, has started thinking about going out to nature. I've never refrained from doing things because there's nobody to come along. Whatever loose plans I have for hiking and backpacking in the near future aren't preconditioned on someone else tagging along. I'm not one to immediately jump on the gender bandwagon, meaning I don't usually interpret events in those terms. I can't help thinking this wouldn't happen if you were a man. I could be wrong of course... maybe these things occasionally happen to men as well but they don't make videos about it? It really has a horror movie vibe to it. If i were you i'd change locations because I don't think you'll be able to relax there.

Not only is it such an utter shock, but this character clearly knows how to find you and follow you, and has VERY violent intentions (they always go after your possessions first). I'm glad that you have a dog and some weapons, but I'm going to echo several suggestions that have been suggested elsewhere on these threads . . .
- Relocate your camp, well away from here.
- Collect ALL the evidence, including photos, notes, the damage; give it all to the police.
- Consider not going out alone anymore.

Hello from Canada! This is extremely crazy what happened to you! From one bushcrafter to another good work but you need to turn the tables. Set up multiple game cameras at the camp next time. That has the highest chance of catching and dealing with anyone this mentally ill and without you and family there. Good luck and keep fighting for what you love! trail camera with cellular connection is a good way to gather evidence (as well as capture fascinating wildlife pics). Even if they find and disable the cam, it will have transmitted at least a few pictures or videos first. Also you can have another cam watching the cam!

Also, I haven't seen this mentioned in the comments but if it were me, I would do a handwriting analysis on the note. It can reveal what sort of personality the person who wrote the note has. It works.
Here in northeast Pennsylvania, it's fairly common for people to carry concealed. We don't advertise the fact because that would defeat the idea of "concealment". Bad guys don't need to know you carry a weapon until its needed.

Finding out who the person is, is very easy. You need to have the police or lawyer get a list of cell phones from the nearest cell phone tower for that area on the day the person took that picture. Being it is a remote area it will be easy to identify who was in the area from the nearest cell phone tower.

secondly keeping yourself safe is the number one priority and staying there where someone has obviously been watching them is not the best idea . as for the dog they can be easily dealt with by someone who is obviously determined, and the fact they was able to get close enough to take photos makes me think the dog isn't as trained as should be.

Taking a quick 360 video of the damage, and the immediate surrounding area that she can review, show the police, (and upload) LATER when she's in a safe place is what a safety-conscious person should do. The damage to her shelter, the communique left on the fallen roof, and the defecation in what I assume was her fire-pit are an alarming set of behaviours. She needs to treat this incident as a VERY SERIOUS violation to her person. She needs to report it, and take serious steps to safeguard herself. The person who did this is NOT NORMAL!!!! I would not be surprised if the suspect had set up trail cams him/herself to 'enjoy' the pain inflicted on the victim. This kind of thing is no joke and shouldn't be just considered an annoyance. She needs to start examining everything in her life/surroundings. I agree with onother commenter: check your belongings for tracking devices. A backpack, set on the floor of a coffee shop for example, can be trifled with.

No. It won't be enough against a determined enemy if she is on her own.
A dog will smell or hear another person from VERY far away, allowing her time to take cover in an advantageous position.
No one is ever 100% safe, but you can't expect her to buy an AH-64 - a dog and a gun is enough (unless you prefer her to cower in fear or stop doing what she loves!?)

Don't go solo if this is happening to you. Stay armed, bring friends, give up areas your stalker knows about, set-up deer cameras to catch your stalkers identity.
Some of the trail/game cameras are capable of uploading images when they occur with a cellular signal. This may be what the stalker is using, but it is also a strategy that you could use. Even a basic game camera might be enough to capture any activity in your bush craft camp location.
I just came across your video and I will be a loyal follower of your YT channel. I am so sorry your camp was invaded and compromised. Too bad there are so many bad people out there. Please stay safe. Never let your guard down. And implement precautionary measures to protect yourself and your camp. I.e. trail cameras, firearms if possible, GPS locations to your most trusted family, friends of where you will be camping and when.

Hello from Czech Republic, the trend of breaking up campsites is also here, there is nothing you can do about it, maybe just build again and elsewhere... Otherwise, I recommend getting a photo trap to keep track of who has visited your campsite. The photo, try to remember where it could be taken, or try to see if it could be just a frame from your video. As for sleeping in the woods, trust your dog, he'll watch you while you sleep, I trust he won't let strangers near you. Fingers crossed and don't let one sick person mess you up.

Wow, I just came across this video and I'm spooked. I'm a MHT and have seen some scary stuff in my career but I feel like I just watched an unscripted chapter from a real life horror movie. Gave me the chills listening to it all. Just as the other person said, that person is very dangerous, and I too recommend consulting with the police and possibly a criminal psychologist. Finally, I think the Lady in the video is a hard target and I'm impressed with how she is handling all this.

It's a stalker. She should train her dog for self defense and she should get some self defense classes. You should build your camp where they have to take a path in front of the camp and you can see them coming. Preferebly up high. Learn some military tatics. Set up your own cameras but hide them well.

Just came upon your channel. So sorry this has happened to you. There are all kinds of jerks out there, just don't let that take away your happiness. Be vigilant and set up a trail cam somewhere close but hidden, that can keep a watch on your camp while there and while away. Also look closely around your camp for any trail cam that may have been put there. Always leave word with someone when you go and or maybe bring a friend who can be with you. They can keep an eye on the surrounds while you do your work. Not sure if you can carry mace or not but that would also be good protection to keep in your pocket. If you have bears in the area it is useful to repel them also. It is very scary to have someone do this to you, but try not to allow them what they are seeking. They want you in fear. If you have not already, let your police know what has happened. I love your channel and you have a new subscriber from the USA.

I have not seen your camp when it was in good shape, but t looks like your roof was well-built. Maybe for any future camp you would create, you can put up Game Cameras when you are away which are motion activated.

I am very sorry this happened to you. It is absolutely horrible. I fear that this will happen to my camp one day. I have also had issues at my camp.
Do you think it is possible that this is the same person who you have had problems with in the past? If so then this is an extremely dangerous situation that should not be left not dealt with because your life could be in danger. You should DEFINITELY notify Police.
Either way defecation is a sign of SERIOUS mental health issues.
You could have a tracking device on your vehicle.
That note might have finger prints on it. The fecal has DNA.
Hey Vanessa I don't know you but someone asked me for help, I was at your camps location this week and as an ex army scout we have managed to track down 4 individuals that were all males, not 1 but all 4. We are 98% sure every single one of them took part in destroying your camp as there were multiple prints of each for a long period of time all over your camp, I tracked them as far as I could andwill pass my findings on to the local authorities in the coming days.

Get advice professionally for protection especially for your loved ones as well..
You might want someone to lookout for you.. maybe protect an area with devices (strings set up with tin cans and stones in them to make noise) to scare them away.. and/or have your protection team ahead of you as you come to a new camp location.
You also need to keep a close eye out for your dog so it is not eating poison, too!

Vanessa. I felt compelled to write you about your troubles. Who would have ever thought what would transpire in your journey from the simple beginnings then through your medical journeys and beyond. As a country boy I have lived in the woods more than out and have had my share of weirdos stalk me, really for real. Some very wrong people. The thing to do is exactly what you did in the last video. Stand up to them and let them know you are ready to fight, let them see it in your eyes. I found that there was a much higher concentration of them in popular fishing spots. You dog is the one of the most intelligent ones in the world. One more? maybe up it to two dogs. My brother trains Belgums, he is a world class trainer and was a Navy Seal. My solution is to find places that are suited for only the really fit explorer.

Vanessa, security is utmost important for a female alone and especially for one of social media fame.
Therefore everytime you set up a camp you should hide a cheap motion activated game camera nearby to catch dangerous vandals in the act to identify them just in case something happens.

You are an inspiration and anyone who would do something like this is both dishonorable and lacking any morals. Don't let them stop you! Keep following your path. As a father, I would advise you to move camp, carry a can of bear spray for safety (if it can take down a bear, it can take down a person) and purchase a trail camera to monitor your campsite. If it captures anyone damaging your site, turn the footage over to the police. Stay safe, stay strong.
Bear spray would be my go to as it will temporarily blind them up to 30 minutes giving you a chance to get away. Plus the spray is wide, you don't have to be so careful when you aim. Might be easier for you if you're caught off guard.

I hope this finds you well and safe! First let me say that photo was a trail cam photo most likely because it was taken at fairly close range and in black and white. I am certain you would have noticed a person that close in the silence of the woods. This leads me to several conclusions- either this is someone who you have told about where you bush craft and trusted they would not harm you OR the more likely scenario is that this was done by someone who the land owner knows and has given permission to hunt there. Someone who would be angry that you are possibly scaring away the animals because of your scent as you walk along the same game trail they set their camera on. This person was probably told..."oh by the way be careful, I let Vanessa do her bush crafting on my property" possibly a son or grand child of the owner...someone who blames you for not getting a deer last year....someone childish enough to shit outside in your camp without wiping...or worse, wiping with their finger😂. I may be wrong but it is more logical to me than a stalker being that close, with your back to them and not making a move but also someone young enough to know how to use technology and have shitty hand writing. It would be simple to google Vanessa bush craft and compare the picture till they find the correct person. But I have good news and bad news...the good news is shit carries DNA...the bad news is you'd need to collect a sample and store it till you need it for evidence 🤢. I am sure the police wouldn't keep it unless a violent crime was committed against you...which may be too late. Or thirdly and least likely- you faked this for dramatic effect to get more likes (which I don't think you did). I hope this gives you some ideas if you decide to investigate further, I would also save that note for hand writing comparisons. Maybe the land owner recognizes the hand writing?
