To be fair, virtually every non race car would develop problems on a race track doing many consecutive laps. Even look at the clip where they try and beat the Stigs lap time in a Lamborghini, a Mclaren 12C, and I forget the third, maybe it was a Noble. Each developed overheating problems (mainly the brakes). The point is, even modern half million supercars can have a hard time doing consecutive full pace laps. So it's no surprise the cars in the video developed problems. Doing full on race laps is incredibly hard on cars.
@@David-ud9ju Lol they'd be okay? Nah. Seen plenty of supercars struggling or breaking cause owners don't understand that they can't get 5-6 consecutive laps of hard driving without the car being prepped heavily. Diff, transmission, and engine oil coolers are the bare minimum things needed that most supercars do not have. Big tracks with a lot of speed decrease these issues but not all tracks are the same and the tighter the track is while increasing the duration of a lap the more these issues occur.
Because of top gear I made up my own 1500 quid Alfa Romeo challenge (and not because of late night drunk ebay bidding mind you.) 200 miles into the 240 mile trip back, sure enough it developed alfaitus and lost a serpentine belt before boiling away all the coolant. Yet for some reason after thinking about it I burst out laughing. Thanks Top Gear, you made a horrific situation absolutely hysterical. Ambitious but Rubbish, and in an Alfa too! :-D

kind of surprised that Jeremy did not get seriously injured when he rolled the 75. but, in a rare instance this is one of the few top gear challenges where I would want all of the three cars the presenters bought, and for track day use Jeremy's 75 would be the one I would pick, for day to day use I would have had May's coupe.
but if you pause the video you can see the indentation where the wheel hit (5:46) and a little later you can see drag marks in the sand where the car would have slid, the sand is really helpful for detecting machinery but judging by the fact that there are no tracks around the car I would era against it. I a few cavots, firstly it is hard to see where the area behind the car where excavator tire marks would have been and even so the car is so shallow into the sand there is a good chance they would not be visible anyway.

Supercars would probably have problems with brakes but they'd be okay apart from that. These cars were breaking everywhere.

its funny because those 75's ar actually becoming very valuable in the future. the prices of the 3.0 went through the roof.
