I love all the bloodthirsty grannies in this movie 😆
Must be the menopause...
@@bursegsardaukar everybody who watches the show are all sadistic though.
They look so terrified when Arnold destroys Buzzsaw
My favorite is when one of them wagers on Ben winning. Killian immediately has a WTF, you gotta be kidding me look on his face. 😂😂😂
If you ever read or watch all quiet on the western front, it is the older generation that pushes the young to war. The old, wanting an extra bit of glory by sacrificing the blood of the young through violence.
Not his most popular movie, but in terms of one-liners it’s probably one of his best.
All I can say about this comment is, well, that hit the spot!
With the release of both The Running Man and Predator, 1987 was one of Arnold's best years.
Here is Sub Zero. Now plain zero! (lol)
Well said!
Sorry man Last Action Hero takes the first place trophy.
Hey Killian... here's Sub-Zero...now plain zero! So many great Arnold one liners in this movie. One of my favorites.
Even more funny, NRS took that line for Terminator DLC in Mortal Kombat 11.
But....sub-zero is lower than plain zero.
I always thought "Here's Sub-Zero. Now DEAD Zero" funnier.
@@richdelgado3405 How about Absolute Zero?
Lol yes!
Always loved the high five to end this particular scene.
I geez I hate doing this but can't help myself. But that wasn't a "high five!!"
@@user-lb8qx8yl8k It was definitely a down low.
Those sounded crispy.
2nd best hand shake in history since the predator handshake with Dillon
Predator and this in the same year. 80s movie goers were so lucky
The 80's were a rebirth for film and movies. Want another one so badly.
Happy 35th Anniversary Predator 1987-2022!
Back when studios took a chance with unproven material, the fact they got Mick Fleetwood to play himself was amazing.
Yes….we were! I had the pleasure of watching Harry and the Hendersons in the theater. 80’s movies are great. And none of the remake crap filling the screens today.
I know! Didn’t realize just how lucky I was to grow up in the 80’s! The kids of today will never know the awesomeness of it.
Fun facts- Toru Tanaka was a three time WWF champion with Mr. Fuji. He even had a run against Bruno Sammartino for the world heavyweight championship. He and Sammartino were close friends.
I always found it interesting that the writers had a Japanese guy as Sub Zero instead of a stereotypical Russian guy complete with a Russian accent.
Sad he is no longer with us
And...was he also a professor?!? 😲
Just like Arnold and Lou Ferrigno! 😊
"Hey Killian, here is Subzero, now plain zero." My favorite line from the movie.
Disrespectful. He wasnt just Subzero, but Professor Subzero.
So he moved up a little
what does that even mean
2:52 the most 80's moment in movie history.
One of Arnold's best movies. You gotta love his lines and the fights he has with the bad guys.
I always thought it was funny how Richard Dawson went from Family Fued to The Running Man.
Casting genius.
He was in Hogan's Heroes first
Running Man was awesome. It's like a evil version of WWF lol
@@blastradius9136
Spot on! 🤣 Although, saying that would imply that the WWE wasn’t already evil with a bloke like Vince McMahon (formerly) in the chair. Great entertainer, despicable person.
The movie got mixed reviews, but just about every critic loved Dawson's performance.
Before there were Hunger Games, Battle Royale, and Squid Game, there was this.
I got this for my niece for Christmas. She's a big HUNGER GAMES fan ,and I thought she'd appreciate a version with a little testosterone.
It is really disturbing how that crowd cheers like a bloodthirsty mob when the criminal contestants are almost killed, and when they are actually killed. But when the "stalkers" are killed they are all so shocked and horrified by it. As if one persons life is worth more than another.
Thats what happens if they adapt a Stephen King novel. Disturbing, suspenseful.
Before Sub-Zero, a stalker was never killed before in the history of the show.
It happens that the constants don't use to be criminals, but just convicts, and usually because of disidence.
Just like how in real life when the pro-police folks cheer on cops committing brutality.
@@TooCooFoYou Wait there are actually people who are pro-police in 2022?
Ah, so this is where Ed Boon and John Tobias got the inspiration!
TOASTY!

2:39 SCORPION WINS
The general idea and scree-writing of this movie is superb.
Professor Toru Tanaka had a mean slapshot! Hawaiian ice hockey school is world-famous!
Tremendous 🤣🤙🏼
Hand slap at the end was the best
Facts! It gets ya hyped!
It is a great parody of reality tv long before reality tv exsited. On of my all time favorite movies from the 80s
It was prophetic indeed

@@joelubas1752 yep. it even mentions Maui...
2:40 - X: Here is Maverick Zero, now plain Zero!
This was one of the coolest movies when I saw it as a kid back in the 80s
It’s a very fascinating moment; up to this point the audience bloodlust is unquenchable. We can assume they seen plenty of Runners killed in horrible ways. Now, the rules of the game have been shattered and they’re all in disbelief. Even funnier when the audience gets on Richards side and want him to take down more Stalkers and the sadness of Sub Zero death is immediately forgotten
Indeed
Similar to the end of the trust show (less violent, mind you).
"Let's git outta heya! Weiss, Ca Man!"
Hurry! Get to da lokkah
@@mikhailabdurrachman2443 😆
Can we all agree that this was the original Squid Game.
Yup 😂
Hunger Games and Battle Royale were all based on this movie too
This movie is a 80s classic
Love the bro slap at the end ; "Good show bro!" - "Yeh, easy peasy!"
"GJ" - "GG Easy"
The correct way to tell that joke is, "Here's Sub-Zero...now room temperature!"
😆😂🤣
Fun bit of anthropology.
This is the 80's. Air conditioning was crap in the 80's. 'Room temperature' as a stable thing and thus *as a saying,* didn't emerge until the 90s.
The language literally wasn't there yet.
But it was not a joke, was a fact(nothing to do with temperature)
Arnold got it right.
@@PabloCruise1 with a corpse lying on ice in such a cold environment, Arnold might be physically correct, eventually. Although science puns weren't Arnold's big thing back in the 80s ;-)
“Here’s Sub Zero…. uh, now he’s dead!”
An all time greatest of all time GOAT movie.
I don't remember any goats being in this movie...
@@wrestlingconnoisseur terminator
@Dan Z I'm not one hundred percent on this, but I suspect it's an indirect reference to Satan...
A person of culture and good taste. Great to see!
Wish they'd referenced that line when The Terminator meets Sub Zero in Mortal Kombat.
they referenced that very line in dialogue between terminator and jacqui briggs
Here is sub zero , now plain zero ...
When buzzsaw got his nuts sawed was the most brutal!
yep, he had to split
Love the low 5 at the end .
wait a sec... if sub zero is now zero, isn't that a step up? 🤣
I forgot about that low-five at the end.
"I'll be back!" "Only in reruns..."
“Only in a re-run!”
Later that night.....
'I told you I'd be back and this is NOT a re-run!'
Funny thing about this scene, if you think about it, is that an audience member is tasked with picking the next stalker. But for Sub-Zero's gimmick to work, he would have to be chosen when the runners arrive at the hockey rink style area of the zone. What if Buzzsaw was chosen first, and Sub-Zero later when they are in the wasteland?
I imagine every member has a skating gimmick if they need to
There are motorbikers in the wasteland that I assume 'escourt' the runners to the appropriate zone.
I was thinking this the other day. The fact that they're in wardrobe / costume already, and ready to be picked. How the cameras and dancers are there...
either 1) the audience are plants
or 2) they ask every audience member to list their favourite runner when applying, then call out an audience member that'll pick the runner they want
I may be wrong, but, if I remember correctly, Ben and his friends wandered, or were directed, to the skating rink, and the lady from the audience was asked who was that area's stalker, not to choose one to put in play.
I don't think the screenwriters thought very much about it (nor Stephen King, since and the concepts shown here were heavily altered from his book), but it would make sense having other "area-confined" stalkers like Sub-Zero. Maybe a flooded area with a jet-ski runner, or an stunt track for a roller-skater.
Amazing movie 👍🏻
whoever in your pfp bad bro

As a kid I found the double slap at the end iconic.
I enjoyed this movie immensely. What I liked about was when you watched the reality show you wondered what was actually real and what was fake because a few things were faked.
Kind of like the reality shows of today.
Movie is based on a true story

Arnie's acting leaves me speechless.
Now plain zero...the dap at the end clinches it. 😂😂
Ah, now I see where Joel Schumacher got the inspiration for the ice hockey scene in Batman and Robin.
_The ice hockey team from hell!_

Nope.
Best line; "Here is Subzero! Now... Plain Zero!"

Awesome movie. So 80s
I met Professor Tanaka on the set of Chuck Norris’s “Missing in Action Part 1” in St Kitts island and he had us in stitches with his humor a truly big guy.
Have a great day!

This movie is the epitome of cheesy one liners. Gotta love 80’s movies!
Wise: I'm sure glad we took care of Sub Zero.

Sub Zero was most terrifying to me. Fat armoured giant who attacks from cold nowhere to cut you in half
This is so 80s
One liners galore for "Ahnold" in this movie!
That part where he killed him caught me off guard 💀💀
0:34 notice the film crew sticking their arms out
I would love to see Subzero's hockey stick serve as inspiration for a Dead Rising combo weapon, like you take a hockey stick and a broadsword and put them together.
RIP Professor Toru Tanaka and Yaphet Kotto
I guess Sub-Zero was eliminated from the playoffs of life......
On a sidenote, he reminds me of a Mongol warrior with his size and looks. Sub-Zero looks and acts like a cross between a Mongol warrior and a hockey player.....
2:39
"Here's Sub-Zero.....now PLAIN zero!"
2:45 Anhold is James Bond *DING
"Hey Killian, here is Subzero, now plain zero!" I remember watching this at the movie theater when this came out. The audience roared in laughter after Arnold said that line and give the other guy five 😂🤣
I don’t understand how the audience are so shocked to see a stalker get killed but when it’s a runner, they’re so overjoyed
they are used to seeing scumbag criminals getting mangled
as a kind of Trial By Television in a Gladiators-style kill-grid sports arena.
normally the Runners are the bad guys that everyone wants to see destroyed.
the audience doesn't know Ben Richards is innocent
and has been framed by the evil corrupt scumbag Government.
Because they believe that the runners are convicted criminals (murderer’s, rapists, etc). Arnold’s character was falsely convicted of murdering a crowd of starving people, so they naturally want to see him get his comeuppance.
2:53
The most ultimate F.U. moment in movie history.
It obvious that when subzero had the upper hand he wasn't focused on Arnold but that's a gripe with most movies

Best Arnie kills is when subzero gets his throat round the Barb wire and Arnie pulls hard and his throat spews lots of blood and it's is very bloody kill

maybe there's a reason the Runningman wasn't allowed to have military prisoners on the show. they're trained in armed/ hand to had combat and stressful situations like this.
Blimey! Long time no see ❤. Nostalgia appreciated 🔥
Then Sub Zero's little brother honored him by taking his name and entering the Mortal Kombat zone.
