Hi Graham, had a few people say that about the Chevy springs. From what I have been told they are a heavier set. Food for thought cheers and enjoy mate.
I hope you didn't mix up Nm with ft-lbs! 65 ft-lbs works out to 88.1 Nm, so your FJ manual and the head gasket manufacturer are basically on the same page, I think. In which case... you may have just over-torqued your head bolts by about 23 ft-lbs?? Great work on the motor, love the way you keep it straight forward. Real mechanical knowledge for the real world 👍

I RECALL REPLACING MY VALVE SPRINGS WITH CHEVY 6 ONES AND TAKING 40 TH OF THE HEAD BACK IN THE 1960 S

Hi Mike, yes on the same page mate. It’s just something to watch as I’ve had it before where they are slightly different.

Most of the valve springs are upside down. Tight coil to the head....
