Thanks for watching and supporting! I hope the five games I introduced aren’t too hard to get 100%. I love getting every achievement in games and sometimes roguelites can be a pain
Great video man! The final preparation for Number 1 was great 😂 Thank you also for mentioning The Rogue Prince of Persia, it's my GOTY hands down and the last update of this week did a Crazy step up in the game. I hope it can get more attention from other people soon. Congrats again, you gave me many ideas to consider for the future 💪
@Burr_ yeah as I said, the last update completely change it answering concerns that many people had in the past. Evil Empire is doing an insane work also listening carefully to the community. Finger crossed 🤞
Balatro is easily my most played roguelike, if not game in general, of 2024, but i just picked up Diceomancer recently and holy cow is it fantastic. If you haven't checked it out yet i highly recommend
Halls of torment seemed cool. Going to check that out some more! Thanks for a good video! Your style and energy according to this video is pleasant. Subscribed! :)
@@Burr_ thank you! did you try Voin or Starvaders? These are two roguelikes which have demos on steam, thinking about those you mentioned in this video i think you could like the second one but the first is really funny too
I have your podcast with the Wormhole devs queued up and ready. I need this game in my life immediately! And Peglin is just a brilliant piece of entertainment and media - loved your episode with the devs, especailly as a fellow Canadian 🍁🍁 keep up the awesome content Burr
I appreciate you listening to the podcast and the very kind words, and of course, checking out some of the games! Really do appreciate that. Thank you for supporting
@Burr_ hey man, absolutely - at the end of the day, you are doing the damn thing! Streaming, podcasting, countdowns / essays - you deserve the praise. For sure an inspiration & keep up the great work. Who's next in the podcast pipeline?!?
Awesome video! A shout-out recommendation for an amazing indie game that dropped this year is Elsie! It's a roguelike platformer, mainly in the vein of MegaMan X/Zero, with great voice acting and super snappy controls and combat. It's definitely a sleeper hit that I've seen literally nobody talks about, and I think it's certainly worth checking out.
Great video, I would love to see Balatro get GOTY, I doubt it will but it would be well deserved. I think I enjoyed Peglin more just because I am not a poker fan, but it was really fun to watch and I know many friends that have enjoyed it.
Balatro winning GOTY in the Geoff Keighly awards would be the best think to happen this year. Peglin almost took number 1 for me, but Balatro is just too special. Appreciate you watching and supporting as always
I played so many 'horde survivors' this year and halls of Torment was my fav. I had completed it in early access and played a bunch more after release. Beautiful game. Edit - I just bought a disgusting amount of games on steam... Seriously gross... But one is Magcraft. I think you'd love it.
I LOVED Mullet MadJack, actually one of the best indie games of the year. I wasn't sure if it was considered much of a roguelite, but it genuinely is incredible
I played the demo of Dunjungle and was instantly surprised that absolutely nobody was talking about it during that Next Fest. Seems very promising to me.
love the video, sad you didn't mention Vellum or Tiny Rogues in the Early access category, if you haven't tried either of them, I highly recommend them
So many amazing roguelites! How did I never heard of Wormhole, instantly wishlisted. Windblown amazing! Balatro amazing! May I recommend checking out Seer’s Gambit. I just finished and it is such an addictive roguelite auto battler. It released this week.
Excellent list. I always come back to rogues when I’m not sure what to play. I’m currently playing Balatro and Witchfire (why isn’t this on the EA list?).
That’s a combination that is hard to combine. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any really Top down games that can be somewhat close maybe Voidigo, Tiny Rogues, Yawnoc?
@@Burr_ Dude I didn't expect an answer 💛 I've been playing a lot of Death Road to Canada and I love the Survival aspect and the Organ Trail feeling, I'll check out those games right now
Even though it is years old, but one my favorite Roguelites is a mobile game called Soul Knight. It's a great game where you select various characters with lore and fight through various stages and can change weapons and abilities in between stages

I agree, I think Balatro was my GOTY. Balatro, Shogun Showdown (thank you for that recommendation), and Peglin I firmly co-sign those. I'm really looking forward to trying Wild Bastards, an FPS roguelike which, after Roboquest, I'm psyched for.
Wild Bastards is one that’s on the list of “roguelites I need to get to”, it looks so well made. Another great year that’s for sure and I’m glad I can get anyone addicted to Shogun Showdown. That’s a god damn gem of a game. Thank you for watching and supporting as always
@@Podsedneck I did try roboquest for a few runs, but I wasn't feeling it that much. I found gunfire reborn to be more interesting with item and skill/perk combinations (even if the base movement feels more sluggish). Did you try out that one or would you recommend another one even more?
Bala tro is more accurate to me. Bala comes from the word balad, and it was the old timey word for a jester or other performer in a similar vein (with my limited research)

I picked up sulfur 2 weeks ago and it has quickly become my favorite roguelite of the year. Before that was shogun showdown. I like your pics as well.
Witching Stone was my favorite of this year, super underrated imo!
