The slow battery drain is one characteristic i have had if i let it sit over four days without starting it. Today i fixed the starter problem. Battery was fully charged . The provlem was in the SCREEM unit. It took about a half hour to fix, most of f that time was removing and replacing the SCREEM unit.
Amazing - 4 + years and it still is as valid as the day you did video! My Crossfire has lots of issues- I now have one less! I have left the key in ignition for 3 years! If I took it out, it may take 5 seconds or 30 minutes (or more) to get it to turn to start car. I took my time - referred back to video several times (I too have manual and wondered what happen to that black brake connector thing). I'm 69 next month and have issues so this was challenging. I started and removed key 5 times no problems. I call it a good fix! I found this video looking for something on Parking brake tightening, My handle pulls all the way up and no hold..? Figure the EB is locked up in wheel? any Thoughts?
Hey Lester, it is all working fine. It seems the biggest point of failure for the SKREEM is when battery voltage drops while the car is parked, and I don't believe the battery tender we were using would keep the battery at a consistent enough voltage to keep the modules happy. So, we're either going to start/drive the car weekly or (for winter) take the battery out entirely and keep it charged without staying attached to the car.
I have always admired the design of the Crossfire. It is promising to see that a community of owners continue to try to keep them on the road. Also, I need Jake's parents to come organize my garage.
Mss is great as long as you don’t have to deal with James Lee smith dudes a real asshole if u got a srt6 in the same area as him good luck getting help he bragged about having the fastest around but once you wanted to modify yours or needed help with a rcm or had questions about problems he becomes a prick gives mss a bad look at least in the area he’s from but josh really helpful to anyone no matter what his ego ain’t attached to his car like James
Josh (Mercedes Swap Shop, in Ridgecrest, CA) is working on my car now! I had an alignment done and the technician accidently broke the blade off of my key fob, leaving the blade in the ignition when my fob body was removed... Josh is making me a new set!
Another bypass you can use if you have an Autel 808, is you go under the menu for SLK 170 16pin ➡️ slk320 ➡️ control modules for body ➡️ CCM ➡️ you'll get an error message about no communication before you select "okay" turn the key. The car will start however if you turn it off you're going to have to do the whole process over again but it is a great way to get you out of a bad situation.
Great presentation thanks I'm always looking for others who have a logical knowledge about these finicky pieces of art..I have 05 limited coupe😅...👨🏽💻💗🙌🏽
@@OutMotorsports I drive one for 4 months then park it for eight months. Drive car 2 for 4 months then park it for eight months. Drive car 3 for 4 months then part it then park it. Hey I just happened to come across your UA-cam video this was my father's car it looks just like the one you're in having some issues with it can't get any answers thanks for telling about Josh in Southern Cal
Hi, Thank you for this video, and you kept your mothers car so pristine. What brand radio did you replace the OEM radio with. Love that it was the same or similar color as the center console. 😀
We only wanted to modernize the head unit if it could match the center stack! Ended up using a Kenwood marine unit that added Bluetooth and USB, and can have the backlighting match the factory controls/gauges. It's several years old now but this appears to be the modern equivalent: amzn.to/3CFWlRZ
No, and those shouldn't be related in theory. Airbag lights typically come on if there is an issue with a sensor in the system, or if you unplug a sensor while the main 12V battery is still connected. We'd suggest having the airbag code read so you know why the light is on. Any shop with a diagnostic scanner (Autel or similar) should be able to read it.
Great going Jake!!!, your Mom must be Proud of You to get Her Fun Car running again, and we know what to do if We run into this Problem.. wish I HAD A CROSSFIRE !!!
She's glad to have the car running again, that's for sure! They are really neat, interesting cars from a very tumultuous time at Chrysler - the entire thing is a SLK320 including electronics. Surprisingly affordable to purchase even with low miles, and an active enthusiast community to help with stuff like this.
Disassembly was pretty easy, maybe an hour or so. The ECU is quick to pull from the engine bay. Getting the gauge cluster out to remove the SKREEM module is not hard, just time consuming. Get trim panel tools and don't force anything to come off. There are screws in the driver's footwell that you will probably miss the first time you try to remove everything and it will feel stuck. And go slow popping the gauge cluster out of the dash. There are tabs keeping it in and you are dealing with old plastic that does not want to bend much.
My poor Crossfire died 4 years ago from this. I still have her but the dealership said the SKREEm was completely fried. You have given me hope sir!! I am contacting them now!
Thank You Bro! Kept Re programming just the Skreem & The Key ..Will Add The ECU all together this time. 💯

How much does this Skreem service cost ? Great video, I have 3 Crossfires, so far no problems, Thanks
It depends on what all you need done, but plan for $400-500.

Oh man. Mercedes Swap Shop are the best. Josh rebuilt the electronics on my SRT6 which a dealer fried by installing jumper cables in reverse.
Have you done the sticky key fix yet? Do not wait. That one will leave you stranded.

What dealership name?
Thank for posting this video. I’m having similar issues with my crossfire. I will be working with Josh.
We’ve been having a battery drain on our W209 CLK550. I think this may be it, not sure lol
My crossfire won't start because I need this exact part. Where can I find one or can you sell me one?

The more you drive them, the less likely it is to happen! Sitting is bad for them.
