- There are so many shower variations, some are easier to adapt than others. Here's another shower situation that was solved by two inexpensive additions. Accessible-ish.

I use a folding step stool as a shower seat whenever I stay away from home ( it folds pretty flat so it doesn’t take up too much space in my bag) 🤗
I think you help wheelchair people so much and you deserve fame and the bigest youtube blog.
Well thank you Alexander ;) one day
Your an amazing lady, I watched you from when you started to you tube and every time your video pops up in the feed I watch how you overcome daily tasks that able bodied people haven’t got a glue about.
Love the paint color!
You give me so much encouragement when I'm down and out I can watch your videos and it will make my day so much better thank you so very much
I’m watching your channel from Russia. I am inspired and amazed by your strength and courage, combined with beauty and femininity. You can do a lot from you. You boldly talk about the problems that you face daily and how to overcome them many do not show this, but only how they know how to have fun and enjoy life, but this is easy, unlike everyday problems.
thank you
Rock on! I've been in my chair for 3 years now and it really comes down to looking around your environment and thinking "How can I make this work for me?" Looks like you're doing a great job and you definitely do a floor-to-chair transfer better than me. :)
You are an inspiration.
Keep up the great attitude!
Luv u mam u r ossam and brave because I'm handicap I m so proud of u. allah may blessed u always
You are great, as a t4 myself i can see how some of the things you do work as suggestions, my problem is i dont have alot of endurance and both of my shoulders are tore up. So that limits alot of what i can do. I have a very chair friendly bathroom, its very big. But i have a regular tub and i made my own shower chair out of cedar and padded it everywhere other than the toilet seat. I do my bowel program in the shower. Its a very sturdy chair and its blocked from sliding around once in place. Please continue being a inspiration to people all over.
Your courage and spirit inspire me.
“so what if it gets soaking wet”
THANK YOU! As someone who has an invisible chronic illness that requires me to sometimes use a towel in the shower, I’ve had to stop arguments over me using a towel by pointing out “its a towel- it’s entire life’s purpose is to get wet and dry out again”. Just ring it out and hang it up lol. Hell, you don’t even have to ring it out! Itll just take a lot longer to dry.
Fantastic job
I had a friend who sustained a spinal cord injury. Keep up the good work.
So many people could learn from you for sure. !! Good video!! 🥰
We love you keep doing what you're doing.
Dam girl, you got some guns. Way to go on staying fit through your trials and obstacles.your an inspiration
You are extraordinary spirit 👍
Hey paras it's cool that you are helping other people when you are in the spot you are it tells me you have a big heart peace and love
Hey Paris I hope your day is going good I'm thinking about you
Que gran mujer here's digno de admiración here's una gran luchadora y ejemplo para las personas que están en igual situación te quiero y que Dios te vendiga
Bless you for this, I will one day get a low threshold shower, this makes me aware of all the things I need to plan for...Thank You
Yes! Planning and awareness
In this strange world we are living in, hero’s are few and far between. You ARE a true hero! (And an amazing survivor)
Wow- Give U alot of credit!!
I Love your spunk and inventiveness .
Great video ..keep up the great work you are doing to help other paras....Cheers to You !
Thanks Mama Z! Merry Christmas!!
Pro tips! very cool
I appreciate your work mam because I am complete paraplegia patient.godbless you.
Thank you for this video.
Thank you pretty girl for the comments back! I would think that someday technology will be able to repair injuries like yours. God bless you. Very great personality.
Great work, keep it up.
I'm a para for 3 years now.
Just a suggestion, wouldnt it be easier with a bench? ❤😊
Wow, you're genius! My health problem is major arthritis due to a fall and up till my injections started working 2 or 3days ago I had to have assistance from my dog, furniture and walker to get off the floor. I am mega impressed you managed to get from the shower floor to the wheelchair!!!👍👍👍👍
Thanks for this Erin. Until I was 4 years into it I wasn't able to do the straight floor to chair transfer. Up until then I always used a block (of anything, a rolled up towel or upside down sneaker would work) to assist me, or when I could I would find a step to bump up one level and then into the chair. Now it's physics and strength ;)
@@ProTipsForParas that's still major!
Hello Tanelle. I couldn't get my head around your accident so I read about it. What a fluke that you were hurt but the friend beside you was not. You have risen above and are remarkable. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for being curious enough to check out the sitch Barbara :) Happy January
I’m from Vancouver Island!
Love the channel 😊
Thanks Jenn. Happy New Year!
The waaaay cheaper way than using junk ROHO pads for your shower floor is to go to a place that sells lawn tractors and buy a few garden tractor front tire innertubes. They are about $12.00 vs $400.00 and they last for YEARS. I use one on my shower chair even tbough it (the chair) has padding but the foam "sponge" is saturated inside the vinyl. I also use a tube on the back edge of my commode chair to protect my tailbone from the inside edge of the seat. You'll rarely have to pump it up. I pump it up until it barely expands & stop. I then deflate it just enough to give it a tad of spongyness.
Do you take any medications to help reduce spasms?
Do you also get clonus spasms, where your legs “jump” up and down?
Thanks!
I get all the spasms, up and down (which is usually caused by my feet, but sometimes really intense ones that come from my hip flexors), abdominal spasms, all the everything below my injury has spasmed at one point or another.
No I do not take any medication for this. I believe that spasms are healthy and the body trying to fight through the lost connection. Tells me that everything is still alive and well beyond where my spinal cord was pinched, not severed.
A basic shower chair will do wonders for your output if the space and other users in the house can accommodate it. I had one with a back rest and it had a transfer portion on it too.
I'm not around enough to need one. If it really comes down to it I shuffle around with a lawn chair and foam
Pro Tips For Paras It’s amazing what “we” use to accomplish things. I use an old junk wheelchair cushion with no cover in my shower and my best roller buddy uses a throwable PFD, many call it a “boat cushion”
I love your page 💯
Great person
I would suggest swim shoes I find that they’re very helpful in the shower especially for some one in a wheelchair. I also suggest a shower chair foldable. Those are the ones I use when I travel. God bless you. All this technique and every thing that you’re doing is wonderful you do a great job of explaining every thing.
I try to travel with as little as possible. I chose to travel with a folding aisle wheelchair so I am able to get on/off the plane and to the washroom on board independently. One duffle bag and a carry on only when flying. Sometimes a Paragolfer, surfboard or ski... The amount of things we cart around as wheelchair users is crazy!!!
Thanks for the water shoes tip! I use surf booties a lot for foot protection, have never used in the shower tho
Hey friend it's personal..but I m also paraplegic..I want to know what you use...for urine n motion when ever go outside for 7-8 hour...I use catheter... diapers....but are you know other items besides these...because these are not work properly...after used to many years....I want to go outside but cant go because of urine.....
i was wondering, do you have to dry out your chair cushion after you shower, cause i imagine that it'd get soaked transferring straight from the shower back into the chair like that. i'm a chair user but i can still walk small distances so this is a part of chair life i just don't quite get
Hi. I've just come across your UA-cam site and I'm very impressed! I've been a para for almost 30 years now and I'm still learning new/different techniques. For example, I didn't realise you could buy little Roho cushions. Must check those out. And must also check out your other videos.
Also, feel free to let me know the questions I am leaving unanswered :) Happy you found me
nunca imaginei como seria isso, obrigado por compartilhar ! 🇧🇷 subscribe 👍🏽
I use one or two play mats depending on need. Though need to be careful if water fills up in the tub as it may cause one to flip over. Especially given how light I am. Maybe that could work for too. Or if you can get a small one or do a clean cut and put it under your feet. :)
Love this demo! Thank you so much! 💗❤💗I am learning how to become a better girlfriend in assisting my boyfriend!! I LOVE YOUR TIPS!! One question...What is a Roho?
Your love for your man makes my heart happy! A Roho is an air cushion. They have everything from this small (Adaptor) Roho, to full wheelchair seats and mattresses. Usually with different chambers to allow different support
you ,are a , amazing lady ,im 60 and still active ,i have a bath and bored and shower , and i have one leg ,but i'm good ,thank you daryl.
So if you did not have that higher shelf for your left hand that is higher how would you get back into your chair ? Direct floor to chair transfer ? Can you demonstrate ?
For the first few showers I didn't realize that shelf was right there and I did just the floor to chair transfer.
I will make sure to put out the next video that demonstrates the floor to chair transfer and a few tricks that I used to assist in this before I learnt how to do them without anything helping. (It took me almost 4 years to be comfortable doing a floor to chair transfer without anything in place to help myself)
Thanks for the video suggestion ;)
Encouraging n inspiring
I appreciate your work..God bless you
Keep it fighting

Do you a link for that removable shower head holder with the suction??
Here is a link on amazon. If you search shower head holder you will find a few different types. www.amazon.ca/Removable-Handheld-Showerhead-Adhesive-Drilling/dp/B07V6C6BFZ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=showered+holder&qid=1577204882&sr=8-3-spell
The shower head holder shown in the video was purchased at Home Depot. It is is a Suction Shower Holder made by Moen and is part of their Home Care line. www.homedepot.ca/product/moen-suction-shower-holder-white/1000762616
Do you still have sensation in your legs? Are those spasms painful?
Jade Monroe - So sometimes they’re just flopping around and you don’t even know?? LOOL
Would it be easier to sit on that little ledge/seat in the tub instead of transferring to the floor? I recently found your videos and I love them. I have Spina Bifida and abdominal Lymphedema from years of abdominal and back surgery. That makes it impossible for me to get on and off the floor without help. I transfer from a motorized scooter onto a shower stool to shower. I learned from you to put a towel on side of tub while transferring, so thank you.
Thank you.
you have strong hands
My friends looking for a better cushion for his chair. You mentioned " sit on your Roho ". Is Roho a brand or type of cushion you'd recommend?
Roho is a brand of air cushion. Your friend's best bet is to find an OT that knows what they're doing. I am only on my second wheelchair cushion and don't know if I love it yet. Far from the expert on seating. Sorry I'm not more help.
@@ProTipsForParas no you helped. Coincidentally He just got a roho and so far he loves it.
Brave girl
A very awesome young lady, and beautiful too. 🌹🙂
Thank you for the nice helpful videos. And thanks for the response to my comment on another video. Such a nice girl. And so up beat. Beautiful person.
Thanks Jason :) I enjoy connecting with the people that I hope to be educating. I learn things through these comments every day

Awesome video. I'm also a paraplegic (since I was six years old) and how ironic that UA-cam recommended your video to me. :)

I have a roll in shower with a fold down seat. I can't imagine that it would all that much to pull out the tub/shower unit and put in tile. I have been playing the game since my injury in 1984. There will come a time when you are not able to climb in and out of your chair. Also, tubs are very slippery when wet, good way to fall and hit your noggin. I do admire your determination though!
This is not my home. I travel a lot and have to make things work.
❤❤❤❤
Does anyone know what that thing is that she said she'd have another one of, if she could afford it. I'd be happy to buy one for her and send it along to her. Any help is appreciated !
It is a roho. I don't know what type she has exactly.
Hey Robert, This is a very kind gesture. Thank you
It is a Roho Adaptor air cushion.
Let me know at protipsforparas@gmail.com if/when you need the PO Box
@@ProTipsForParas You definitely need to make a list. It braoke my heart when you said if you could afford. I am a disabled Veteran in the US so the Veterans Admin. supplies most any thing I need. I do understand everything is expensive when it is any sort of medical device. Do not hesitate to let people know if you need something. You never know when the right person comes along and says to them self,"I can do that" "I want to do that." Just let them. Don't sweat it.
Jesus Christ bless you woman of encouragement

I was just thinking that some transfers are possible because you are able to put weight through your legs, albeit without surrounding support you would crash to the floor ( I cannot use my legs for transfer. I use my upper body).
I have no muscle function in my legs and have to use physics to stack my bones in order to leverage properly with only my shoulders and arms (I do not have any muscle function below my chest)
♥️
God job.

A padded transfer bench with a padded backrest might be easier than doing a chair to floor transfer. I'd be happy to provide one for your next visit!
it's good for my body and fitness to do this! I do have an extra padded bench living at my parents house. It's all good Mama Bear!

This is very informative. Not trying to be funny, but what is happening @ 4:12?
Muscle spasms because of her moving her legs around, at least thats how mine get fired up. Those are fairly mild compared to some folks out there.
Adam is right. I spasm with stretching or pain. And these were mild ones, some mornings they are intense enough to flip me backwards out of my wheelchair
Wow! Now i know why your arms are so strong. What unbelievable stamina you must have.
She was always athletic even prior to her accident
I LOVE U FROM MOROCCO
I don't mean to be rude but how is it that your legs move

Hi. I just came across your page. I'm a para myself since birth. I have Spina bifida myelomeningocele which is the most severe form of Spina bifida. I'm from the United States.
What cool things have you come across that make your life flow easier?
I just manage to be the best that I can be. Also when it comes to adapting to do things around my, I try to do my best. I have great upper body strength.
I also can transfer without a transfer board.
I just looked at the roho cushions and great googily moogily they are expensive.
Ya. adaptive life means add a zero, or two
@@ProTipsForParas I’ve noticed the price of my Jay x2 cushion and that’s pretty expensive as well. I am lucky that all my equipment comes from the veterans affairs and I was able to get a smart drive system through them as well. I feel for people that have to front a whole bunch of money to get their needed medical equipment. When I get my new wheelchair I usually donate my old one to someone that can’t afford a nice wheelchair.
beautiful leg 😍
Good video!!!!!!!)))😊😊😊
thank you.
I need your help plzzz tell me how can I contact with you I,m also paralysed I want to talk to you 😞😢 plzz help me🙏🙏
Love ROHO except they have no longevity, been using them 40 years now. As for your feet, your skin is the largest organ on your body. It's designed to deal with some wear and tear. If you treat your skin like tissue paper it will become so. Don't be afraid to roughen up your feet, just be cautious a bit. They make simple blue gel cushions now that you can get for $30-$50 that work great for when you need to get down on the floor, or in this case the shower. You can search Amazon for 'gel cushion' and is should bring it right up.
Too bad the controls werent on the side wall with your portable shower head holder you could use the seat and the shower head could still be high mounted where it is for those who stand.
I'm not able to sit comfortably/safely on most built in shower benches. They aren't deep enough and they tilt away from the wall, unless it is a specific accessible shower with the padded seat.
Muito bacana. Brasil, LIKE
How about using spounges as pads for your feet and ankles etc. I am impressed by your inventiveness. Keep up the good work I love your attitude.
Sponges would be better than a face cloth. Just using what I can reach!
Hye
I am from India
I am also fractured
Me and you same same
Hii
Get yourself a camping stool, much much easier & fits in any shower. Too easy
I don't mind the transfer of the safety of the floor. I need a backrest and padded seat, which is a cumbersome piece of gear to travel with (this is not my shower)
In this situation i am going to shower in my wheelchair)
I hope god watch over u. God bless 👍
Hola mejor usa una silla de baño tengo lecion med t12 l1 me es mas comodo y tu regadera esta muy util saludos
You are amazing.... I've heard you make comments a couple of times in other video's of something you like or would have if you could afford it, why don't you make a list of some of the things that you could use and viewers who wanted to send you something could choose what they wanted to send you and could have that item removed from the list as things are chosen by your viewers.... I personally know that if this were to happen, I would be one of the first to help you get something that you need to make your life better or easier.,.
