Your comment made me think. I think a lot of other things factor in: like the life you have led, mental wellbeing, pain. No two people are the same, but this is not to take anything away from any person.

God bless you most people give up in a situation like yours but you are trying your best to live your life under the circumstances and show that you dont let your situation get you down and can do for yourself I applaud you 👏🏼👏🏼

Thank you so much for these video. I am not paraplegic but many of the patients I work with are unable to stand on their own due to weakness or perhaps IV lines or medical devices they wear. These tips will all come in handy.
The very first seconds of this video all I could say is "Damn, those guns!!" To compare your drive and determination to the typical able bodied human is an insult to you. Brilliant!
Hello I came across your videos last week and they have been very helpful for me I sufferer from cerebral palsy. I get dressed from my chair now I used to get dressed on the bed but I have to agree that getting dressed in the chair is easier I have to use an electric wheelchair which helps me left up my legs. I appreciate your tips thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks a ton! I have been paralyzed 35 years and just recently have been in a wheelchair. I always had to get dressed on the floor then pull my self into the chair. Now I angled my hand behind like you did and it works! It took a couple tries but I now know how!
I've been a para for 3 years but around year 2 I started getting awful spasms that made even getting dressed in bed hard. I got a baclofen pump March of last year but my luck is terrible and it didn't start working properly until a few weeks ago. Before the spasms got bad, I was almost at this point. Now I'm working on getting my skills back and this is a great amount of help!
been there done that.Luckily my nerves recovered And i could go back to work. I learned it's not easy.crawling around was not fun with numb but super sensitive knees.I admire you for making the best of your condition.and sharing.
Thankyou so much for these pro tips, i am 32 and have now been in a wheelchair for 3 years, i had a simple slip on a wet public toilet floor and hit the back of my head which led to me developing a neurological disorder in which my brain doesnt send signals to the parts of my body like it should, leaving me unable to bear any weight on my left leg, grip anything smaller than a beaker in my left hand, lose all hearing in my left ear and most of my sight in my left eye, i also lost all bladder function so have a suprapubic catheter and at times i suffer with severe dysphagia to the stage i cant swallow at all and need admitting to hospital for nasal gastric feeding im actually on the hospital waiting list to have a gastrostomy button feeding peg into my stomache so i can be liquid fed at home, so yeah this is my life and im pretty new to being this way and i find your videos so inspirational and helpful in being able to gain some independence back into my life, so please keep posting these videos you are a truly wonderful inspirational person xxx
Thanks for the tips. I am a T2 complete paraplegic since 2010. I’ve always transferred onto the bed or sofa to put on my pants. I’ll try this method tomorrow.
This is more difficult than it looks. I still could not pull the back of my pants up especially the middle. Both sides are fine just the middle that keeps getting stuck.
@Pam Rolls By I have full upper body functions. Besides from a trigger finger, my upper body is 100%. I will practice some more. My only concern is moisture around my private and my bum. I can’t seem to get those areas dry unless I’m in bed.
I'm trying to learn how to put my pants on while seated in my wheelchair. I have MS and can't really stand anymore. I do wear stretchy pants and will give this a try. I never thought about buying a larger size to make it easier but will give it a try with my pants that I might have hanging around that are larger.
Well been in chair now for 3 years now due to a race accident jacked myself right up big time anywhos.Im looking at these vids to assist me, in all the ways they can so pretty much im using her vids for help THANK YOU SO MUCH for these vids
Thanks for the tips. I gave up trying to put on pants in the chair about a year out, but thinking now that was before I had a baclofen pump and my tone was crazy high. I’m going to have to give it another try. And black yoga pants are my go to as well. Light colors like grey show wetness. Black hides anything until you can deal with it. 😎 You can also dress up black yoga pants and no one knows they aren’t dress slacks. Shirts, like you said, are a race to see if I can get it on before I tip over. Oh. And I start my pants while I have my foot on my knee for the socks. Once my socks are on I scrunch up the pant leg and put my foot through it. The I put it back down and pull it up. Ps. I love your uncooperative twins analogy. Perfect.
Thanks so much for taking the time. I haven't totally lost the use of my legs yet. But it is coming. I have the spasticity you mentioned so I lie on the bed to get dressed and use canes and a walker to get around. You are looking good. Keep up the fight. It is a fight to keep moving somehow. Your smile at the end made me smile too.
Thank you This is great info, i work with the elderly and disable, and have a friend who is wheel bound and these tips you put out are super helpful. God is going to heal your paralysis, i just sense it as i was watching this , i think its because of where your heart is at. First you will feel like a pop in your back then You are going to start feeling alot of tingling as if your legs had been asleep for a while , God is tremendous
Thanks for this! I have NF2 and had a surgery in 2016 that left me in a wheelchair with limited function of my legs. I usually get dressed in bed and haven't tried dressing in my chair. I might give it a shot soon!
You are lucky because I have leg spasms 24/7. I became a paraplegic in 1990 when I was just five years old (got hit by a truck}. As I grew up, my spasms got even worse. I am 35 now and my spasms are very wild and stressful. I enjoyed watching this!!
Bummer on the progression of the spasms. Mine are seemingly doing the same. If you ever trip on any solutions or remedies on how to manage these better I am all ears :)
Although my wife dresses me in bed, i still have to straighten things out once im in the chair. No issues with shirts etc . I only use sweat pants. Retired and no need to impress anyone. But they are easier for the wife to put them on. But i did learn one thing, i like the advice on twisting my hand to pull up the pants in the back. Good advice. Thanks.
Much as I applaud you, try this as a w/chair user with the addition of only having one arm !(as I have to) As a bloke, true I don't have probs with bras but socks, trousers and tops are virtually unisex ! Well done you anyway for your fighting spirit ! and BTW, you're a fine looking gal !
I have dislocated my shoulders on occasion... one arm all the time definitely adds a level of skill and patience that I do not have 100% of the time. Here's to pushing forward!
I’m not in a wheelchair, but preparing for the worst. I have a disability called Functional Neurological Disorder and my right leg is currently paralysed from below the knee. On crutches but it seems to be spreading up my leg. I’m hoping that I won’t end up in a wheelchair because I can’t imagine what you have to go through everyday. Sending love Update: it went to both legs and been in a wheelchair for the last 2 months, it's jsut as bad as I thought, so many places aren't accessible, kids bully me relentlessly at school so yeah :/
I have functional neurological disorder but I can’t lift my legs so I’m struggling to get dressed. I have a specialist electric wheelchair due to how bad my mobility is. Can’t sit without support… it’s awful condition to have
I'm in a wheelchair and I dress myself in the wheelchair all the time sometimes I even wash my self in the chair God bless you it's not easy being handicapped God bless 🙏
WOW!! Just watched this video & am embarrassed. While I'm having 2 thrs' & (severe arthritis in my knee), I still have mobility. Painful, but mobility nonetheless. Putting pants on is painful, but watching you do it so (seemingly) effortlessly was like a 'get your shit together & stop whining ' slap in the face. Thanks for sharing!😊
I dress one leg first, sock then pant leg then shoe. Having shoe on gives the foot more traction and thus doesn't slide off foot rest. It also raises the knee up which helps get the pants under your butt later. Then the same on opposite leg and final pulling pants under butt. I wear shoes 100% of the time to stop them sliding off foot rest and protect the toes incase you accidental run them into something around the house
T Ting I use a calf strap to help keep them from sliding back but def lose them on the front and they drift side to side. A buddy is awaiting his newest chair right now and the footplate has wings of sorts to help keep them from going off the sides.
@@rackemwells my newest chair needed foot plate wings because I asked for 1" wider but the med supply guy ordered 2" and my feet could slide far enough to one side the caster would not rotate past shoes when rotating
I have the side slide issue with the front and back problems. Also, my new chair (not this one) has the wings on the footplate. I have the ankle, back strap that I love and won't get rid of. Sometimes I tie my feet to the footplate with a shoelace to stop the forward slip when out playing or wheeling for long periods of time up and down hills
You may need to remind them to be sure and keep your weight down too. Because if you weigh more doing any of what she said will be even harder to do. I know i gained alot fo weight and i can still dress myself in my wheelchair but with the weight added has made things much more difficult!!!
God bless; I'm hearing some hope from genetic editing (CRISPR Cas9) as a possible benefit for repair. Clinical trails for slow as usual but we can hope and pray.
Do you have any major home modifications be it ramps, bathroom amenities, workout or stretch equipment, a second chair in a room you can’t get in, etc etc?? I have a chair in my basement, an ok portable ramp I use, and just landed a new chair so I have my spare within reach now too. My house is very open and spacious but has little if any permanent modifications.
I have a ramp into the house (took out the six stairs that were there before). Zero modifications in the home. I have a Perfect Pullup workout bar in a doorway, but no different than anyone else who does pull-ups at home. Yoga mats on the solid floor (or a big sheepskin rug) for stretching and yoga
@@ProTipsForParas I wouldn't mind a one off custom built home tailored around my needs. ZERO thresholds and more accessible sinks would be nice, maybe higher outlets and lower switches if I'm really picky. My current bathroom is HUGE but could use a remodel for chair stuff.
Great again !! And your smile in the end is the EVERYTHING!! Please keep posting usefull and interesting things like this video. I wanted to ask if you suffer from circulation problem or spasms and how you manage them (stretching, excersises) ? Also do you have drop foot (you can also show and explain what it is)? and what/how are you doing something to prevent it (excersises or anything else)? I hope i didnt full the list of the requests that you are accepting hahahaha.. I think that all the above are also very interesting and helpfull issues (as all of what you have done until now) for people with paraplegia and not only. Again, you are super, keep smiling keep going!! (sorry for my long message again).. Have a nice week!
Circulation is always a problem for someone who sits all day. Swollen feet and ankles are a regular occurrence. Drop foot can be in another video. Yes I do have it, but I don't have the tone in my muscles that make it a huge problem (it is only a small problem). I don't know what other than standing can help maintain against it. Stretching will be in a video coming soon ;P Thanks for tuning in and asking your questions!
@@ProTipsForParas dont you also do excersise in your feet- ankles about the drop foot? I mean making circles or etc.. How do you prevent your feet from becoming swollen? Also how you try to keep a muscle tone ? Dont you excerise your lower legs-feet at all (except- standing)?, owo! Anyway, thanx for the answer..
I saw a video about a paraplegic who was learning to walk again. An electrode applying a mild shock to the spinal cord was awakening things. Now medical people are thinking that the spinal cord is very smart in itself, not just doing whatever the brain signals it to do.
I have spina bifida and can easily get the trousers off but still haven't mastered putting them on while in the chair. I have a device called the Parra Ladder that I use to get on the floor and can easily get my trousers on that way. What makes it worse for me is my hips and knees have contractions. It's just another something to deal with.
There are UA-cam videos about people who are paraplegics or in some other way have no mobility and cannot move their arms or legs or hands. This young woman is very independent and can tend to a lot of her own needs. It looks like she works out too. Very muscular and strong but it could be because of pushing her own wheelchair.
I find it much easier dressing in my chair. The OT's at the rehab taught only how to dress in bed. As time went one and as I gained more strength and independence I leaned on my own how to dress in a chair. There was no UA-cam or Google back then!! :)
I see the T6 listed, any abs at all? Any upper abs? If so, using a small weight, 5-10 lbs, sit up straight and with both hands hold the weight. Push to your knees and in a circular motion lift up and curl towards your chest and back around. Doing this in a circular motion you may find that you do have some abs left and able to exercise them this way. God bless.
I am in no way trying to hit on you, or come across as being, weird, creepy, awkward, or inappropriate, I just wanted to say that regardless of your physical condition, you still have amazing looking legs and a great overall physic. And your positive attitude and demeanor is exemplary.👏
I have MS and I can still use my legs to stand up just not well or for very long. I’m so scared as I loose more and more use of them now I’m going to do all this stuff. I don’t know how, I am also 450 lbs and have a really bad back(that’s how I got fat) it just went out one day in high school and then I got mono and fibromyalgia and all my other illnesses and the weight just kept adding on. I already have shoulder pain and my arms were the first thing the MS attacked after my eyes so I can’t use them as well either. I use to think I was strong but I don’t think I can do this much longer. I don’t know anyone else who is in a wheelchair and I live in the country so not many support groups to connect with people and with the pandemic I cant see anyone anyways. I am really not sure what to do anymore. I’m just so scared. I don’t have anyone to talk too if I bring it up to my family they just all act like I’m a drama Queen and my mom seems to think loosing weight will fix everything. Sorry to be such a bummer. I try to be upbeat and funny but sometimes I am Just scared and I feel lost.
@@ProTipsForParas my parents and I(we live together) are all starting Weight Watchers next week and the cubii company has a program where they give people who can afford to buy a cubii a machine and they sent mine to me at the beginning of the year so I got a Mat to keep it from slipping and I’m going to start with that to help keep leg muscles and resistance bands for my arms everyday or that was the plan but my middle back went out and it felt like when my lower back went out the first time so I think I’ve ruptured a disc and it hurts to breathe so I am going to have to see a doctor about it if it doesn’t settle down on the next few days it literally did it two hours ago. Everytime I think my ducks are in a row, one of those yellow bastards go missing. Lol I have so many health issues that if one thing is fixed another goes bad it’s an endless cycle and frankly I’m tired of running in these circles it’s been so long and I’m just so very tired.
As a guy, I do the same - straighten my mens' underwear by pulling it down before the final fit. I've been in a wheelchair for 40+ years and do believe that getting dressed in a wheelchair is easier. Dressed myself in bed for about...I dunno...the first 25-30 years, and have been putting on clothes in my w/c for the past 10 years. Whatever makes it happen...
I suffer by having really bad spasm episode. I usually wait til it stops when I dress in my chair. I do want to slim down so much so I can put my pants on the same way. Is there a guy version of pants like that besides sweat pants?
Jeffrey Munoz I’ve got Levi jeans that are a “stretch” wash and find them substantially more comfortable and slightly easier to put on. They’re nothing magical, but surely easier to put on that a typical pair.
I remember wheelstowalking has a video about this that’s more aimed at men if you haven’t already seen it? I found it really helpful when I was first dealing with getting dressed in a wheelchair.

Stretching will be in a video coming soon ;P
Thanks for tuning in and asking your questions!
Dang bodies that don't cooperate
It's great information, thanks, I'm dating a woman with disabilities and I appreciate your youtubes
There are UA-cam videos about people who are paraplegics or in some other way have no mobility and cannot move their arms or legs or hands. This young woman is very independent and can tend to a lot of her own needs. It looks like she works out too. Very muscular and strong but it could be because of pushing her own wheelchair.
Great video!!!
why do you not have fenders or clothing guards on your chair?
God Bless you. Your a Beautiful Lady!
Awesome girl. great video.
Thank you!!
I only learnt from meeting others and physiology best ways of doing thing but before that it was just try and see where you get.
Helpful advice .. Thanks
Welcome :)
Yep, Simply Beautiful....
Amiga gracias por ese vídeo yo acostado me canveyo la ropa lo un tentaré.
I really want your shirt. Where can I find that kind of shirt? I’ve been looking for a year.
This was a cheap one from a teenie bopper store :) I find they wear the best
What kind of socks are those?
I find it much easier dressing in my chair. The OT's at the rehab taught only how to dress in bed. As time went one and as I gained more strength and independence I leaned on my own how to dress in a chair. There was no UA-cam or Google back then!! :)
Same... however there was UA-cam, I just wasn't participating.
You people all Alsome. Dam you got guns!!.👍👍💓
Looks super strong glade to see u.thriveing
DAYME. shes ripped
Is it just me or does this lady have some huggable arms? Am i seeing things differently?
those guns r impressive!
She's kinda hot.
Her arms are amazing
I see the T6 listed, any abs at all? Any upper abs? If so, using a small weight, 5-10 lbs, sit up straight and with both hands hold the weight. Push to your knees and in a circular motion lift up and curl towards your chest and back around. Doing this in a circular motion you may find that you do have some abs left and able to exercise them this way. God bless.
Pro Tips extended! Thank you!
@@ProTipsForParas Not that it means anything, i'm a t12 since '77.
I am in no way trying to hit on you, or come across as being, weird, creepy, awkward, or inappropriate, I just wanted to say that regardless of your physical condition, you still have amazing looking legs and a great overall physic. And your positive attitude and demeanor is exemplary.👏
Thanks for taking the time ;) and clearing the air haha
How did you get injured
I love your muscle! I want arms like yours!!
I try to be upbeat and funny but sometimes I am
Just scared and I feel lost.
Is there one small thing you can do daily that promotes health and wellness?
I love your shoulders
Thanks good job
Damn she is pretty!
Je vous souhaite beaucoup de courage et de force
@@ashb7487 He has quite the following, that's for sure! He has a TON of production value and I assume PtfP will probably add more "stuff" as she grows. He's a roller Casey Neistat of sorts! I do feel like there's an educational value vs entertainment value that Tanelle is aiming to achieve.
Do you mind me asking how your legs stay so toned?
r u back
Keep smiling ... you are pretty and awesome.
You look amazing and still have beautiful legs.
