Holy cow! I’ve been a para for 15 years and can’t imagine pulling this off. Great job!

That's awesome and with having an SCI everyone has to accommodate and use a little ingenuity at times. When I was in college, my apartment bathroom was not accessible and I put a regular chair on top of a rug in which I transferred. I then grabbed the sink, walls, whatever and slid myself around in the bathroom.

I agree they should put the door opening outwardly rather than inward.

I have stayed at Hampton Inns and find them very accommodating to my needs. Before the trip I try to make reservations for an accessible room. I realize that many areas do not have the chain hotels and it is difficult to to get what you need to make your stay more comfortable. Thanks for the video.

Depending on the distance, sometimes I put my legs straight out from the toilet to the tub. Then I slide from the toilet to the tub edge and in. Getting out, do it the same way as you . Nice job!

Most Paras will never be able to make these transfers. She is very strong. If I am faced with this scenario, I basin bathe. Being 6'5" 200lbs, no one in my family is pulling me off the ground. I have a system to get myself off the floor at home, but in an away situation, there's just no way at my age. Truth be told, my wheelchair won't even go through many bathroom doors having a 19" wide seat. It is what it is. We adjust.

several years ago I was staying in a hotel in Truro Nova Scotia. I was in a 2nd-floor accessible room which was just off from the elevator. the door to the bathroom was a barn door sliding style The Bathroom itself was huge and did have a bath seat that I could transfer on I am a T11 Para for the last 21 years

I absolutely love when hotels hit the nail on the head with accessibility! Almost like they consulted with someone in a chair before building it ;) Thanks for watching and shedding light on the goodness of places also.

Very well done! I always have a strap with me, just 2 m, to lay into washbasin to get my wheelchair back. It's always with me . So l can close the door full!

Yeah I know what you are going through but how would you feel if the bathroom door is not wide enough for you to get your wheelchair through the door way so you have to have a different wheelchair inside the bathroom that is what I go through every day that I go into my bathroom here at my house all alone

I hope the toilet was clean before you make that transfer. 😁
    Thanks for sharing.

I love the video, however, why would your new wheelchair not have breaks??? I noticed that you have scissor brakes now, why not just transfer them to your new chair???

Liam Roday I know a few rollers that don’t utilize brakes. I find them more of a useful item vs an absolutely necessary one. I assume she opted to go without them on the new chair. They break semi often, need adjusting, add weight, and I’d personally say they don’t look so cool. With that said, I JUST got my new sled November of 2019 and I opted for brakes. The old sled was 7 years old, the original, the first. We can even call it the chair the myth the legend.

No reason other than it didn't come with them, I haven't ordered and installed them, and I think I might try my hand at physics for a little bit before I do.
It keeps my brain active and challenges my abilities.
Like Jeremy, I know a handful of people without and none of them seem at a loss.
