For me only the Nürberg is a true S-Class. All the other ones? PURE GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xd

@@Psalm_23 automatics are more popular and desired than manuals, when it comes to sales. Thats why carwow pushes automatics. automatics=more sales and clients. And for the weird shifter I dont have a answer but i guess he prefers it more🤷♂️
The 2013 model S Class and the 2013 CLS to me are the greatest designs ever. I don't think I'll ever see a car with a better design than that.

4:47 has got to be my favourite S-Class because it just goes in line with the W124 at the time, and these two cars are my favourite Mercedes models to this day.

I'm from Germany and I'm 16 years old.
Before a half year my Dad bought a Mercedes 220 SE Heckflosse from 1960 and it's dream. The feeling when you drife is wonderful.

To be honest I love the 60s & 70s s class they are too elegant and beautiful.
Merc: everyone gets free airbags cause we care about safety. Tesla: only we can use the charging points cause we don't give a hoot about the environment really.
nothing new, really, tesla always pretends theyre so great but in reality they just take credit for other peoples work and just have a big mouth.
Tesla also gives acess to it's charging network to other car companies.
@@userrotkiv no they dont, they have a lot of charging stations that they integrated to their system, but the ones they build themselves are made specifically to ignore the standarts of charging ports so that only teslas can use them and even with an adapter tesla doesnt let other manufacturers models charge there.
@@kmat31 no they dont, although they try to hide it best they can on their sites, they say that some chargers are put at normal parking spots, though most are tesla exclusive (A non-Tesla car is parked in a Supercharger stall, what should I do?
Most Supercharger stalls are reserved for Tesla charging but some stalls allow general parking.)
and ofc they tried to flood the google search for that with tesla friendly articles that make it seem like the rest of the automotive world is too slow for tesla, when in reality they just like to test stuff and then implement it, to stop things like, idk... cars randomly catching fire *Wink wink*
@@kmat31 thats my point, with batteries in the car you need to be careful about building them, unlike tesla, who then after having their cars catch fire tried to sweep it under the rug as best they could
You can see the technology getting better at an increasing rate over the generations. Makes you wonder what the S class will look like in another 20-30 years!

Great video. But the 1959 Mercedes wasn't introduced as the "Heckenflosse" (hedge fin) , but the "Heckflosse" (tail fin). Mat at least got the english translation right. 😜
The W222 is literally the best luxury saloon of the last decades. Even looks fresh inside and out to this day after 7 years
IMO, the 3rd generation S-Class is the best looking. Specifically the 600SEL model. Huge, solidly built, with massive road presence. The version of the 600SEL that Brabus modified was absolutely insane. Give me that body with a modern engine, gearbox and air suspension, add a modern infotainment screen but keep the rest of the interior; for me that would be the greatest S-Class ever. ❤️
Agree! If it's a s600 swb will be more fun to drive cuz my v140 is quite long & a bit difficult to park it😅

Absolutely love Mercedes Benz. The car that stood out and always will was the w126. I’ve had two a 280SE and 420SEL and both amazing cars.
I've had the w116 350se, w126 560sel and the w220 S500. All fantastic cars!

My favorite S-Class is my 1991 350SD, which we bought new. It still looks showroom new, with less than 110K miles on it. The only modification being a modern sound system and all that those now contain.
I remember watching the safety videos playing in the showroom, of crash testing and Autobahn driving, 30 years ago:-0
The Mercedes Benz Nürburg looks great! Apart from the special looking pre-s-classes the first generation looks the best I'd say. No plastic, firm shoulderlines and edges and some chrome to round it up🤩

The 5th generation in 2013 is my favorite SClass. Enough for me to own it with the 4.7L twin turbo V8. Great special car.

I have owned 3 generations of S class 1987 420SEL, 1999 S320 and 2003 S430 4 Matic. 0ne of the best and most reliable cars I have ever driven!

Mercedes put too much money in over Engineering. The W126 was well engineered. I don't know why Mercedes wanted to make it more over Engineered.
All I know is , after the w140 Mercedes had serious quality issues

Hmm, fav S-Class. Well, my 2012 S63 was a freight train and a beast, but without 4Matic getting power to the ground was tough and tires did not last long. My current S550, 2017, was a special order and is to me the perfect S, even compared to new version. But my family has had many versions of S-Class since 1969, and my dad’s 1990 560SEL was a bank vault (remember how those old doors made a thunk/click in the same way no matter how hard the door was closed?), classic, not too many goofy electronic features and incredibly easy and fun to drive.

the 6th sort of stagnated and stayed the same too much with style, so they felt the need to sort of change things up.
my old man recently sold his 2016 s500 coupe, proper gutted when it went both of us were. by a mile the most comfiest cruiser i've ever driven, really want an s63 saloon one day though

When the 4th Gen S Class came on I immediately thought of Mega Spec from car throttle
I showed up to see the arms. Wasn’t disappointed. Favorite S Class is ‘92-‘98 model.
