Whenever I see a dyno problem I try to do it statically. I don't know why, but in my mind dynos are "the easy way". The thing you do when your climbing isn't enough. That makes me kind of meh in dynos but has definitely trained my technique.
She climbs at my local gym SCC. She’s still incredibly strong and always has her dog with her haha she’s so nice and I NEVER knew she competed at such a high level...hope she gets back to it!
Ahah, certainly did not expect to find my reddit post from two years ago featured in your video, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only fan of Megan's climbing style. She really was one of the best competitors in the world in the two years where she did competitions on the main circuit. She still posts some climbing videos here and there on her Instagram but competing does not seem to appeal to her anymore. Anyway, great work as always! And subscribed now.
Pierre! A good post for a good conversation regardless! I've talked to people who have climbed with her and everyone says she still is a BEAST and enjoying outdoors allot!
I grew up in Colorado Springs going to SCC, the local climbing gym operated by the Mascarenas family. Megan was always a gentle, introverted person, although one of the kindest and most humble I’ve ever met. As Megan improved to competition climbing, she became a local celebrity and people would climb at SCC just to talk to her and watch her. Being the kind person she was, she always engaged with everyone. But I think the fame became overwhelming and exhausting, and started to detract from the joy she found in climbing. Now, she has finally begun to outgrow her fame and seems to be doing much better in school and climbing the things she wants to climb, on her own time, without the pressure of competition. She’s awesome, and I’m glad that she’s happier (although we won’t get to see as many insane toe hooks in competition :/ )
I love watching these. Putting pro climbers into context makes it so much more interesting to watch because you start to see what is special about the way they climb!
I usually refuse to do things the way they are intended and love climbing and thats why i consider the Beta Break series to be the best content available out off all the content that exists even outside youtube
I've seen her in my climbing gym before. The one day her and some other people were trying to do the same problem with as many different betas as possible. It's crazy watching her climb.
I haven’t stretched in over two months Because of quarantine, but I am now sprawled out on my floor with my feet by my face. I’m sure anyone else watching this video is doing the same 😂
I remember seeing other climbers, like Alex Puccio doing a route that was dynamic or just required a lot of strength, and then Megan would go and do it in a controlled static method that just looked like the best way to me.
Most of the time, I have no idea, what you are talking about. But the way you show other peoples' accomplishments is unique. I love the fact that you show not only amazing feats of strength, but also describe incredible personalities and in a way encourage to take something with me: achieving goals is all about the way YOU wanna do it, not the way it's supposed to do. A goal is defined y the person who sets it. I really think you found a very good way to define the word inspiration.Thank you.
Awesome-Beta Break Vid! 🙏Was aware to the movement, but not the term. That toe out toe hook-sick! 😳👏 Never seen one like that. Will also make sure to watch Adidas rock comp. 👍
A few hours ago I didn't even know what a beta was, and now I'm straight up audibly gasping watching that toe hook. This series is absolutely fantastic.
Its super refreshing to hear 'but first...' in the beginning of a youtube video that isn't followed by some ad or promotion, but instead is actually telling you something pretty relevant and important for the rest of the video
I don't know anything about climbing but i am having so much fun--and learning so much--watching these videos! I love how accessible and positive they are.
What a fucking inspiration, not just to climbing but to life in general. 6"4 big guy almost cried watching this when she just WALKED AWAY FROM COMP CLIMBING TO MAKE HERSELF HAPPY what a girl man!!!!
Why is it that climbers stop competing when they go to college? I mean why colleges can't have climbing teams? A lot of talented climbers stoped climbing for their studies.
Most of the time there are dynamic moves that can't be reached by that. You lose time and energy too. Difficult to win. You still need the reach for it. Very difficult balance
Hola, gracias por compartir tus conocimientos. me gustó el video. llevo poco escalando pero aprendo rápido. llevo algún tiempo siguiéndote y me gusta como lo haces.
Rockstars, huh? We had a rehearsal room in the church basement where was also a boulder wall. There was enough space for both activities. Climbers joked that it's the only boulder with live music, but today I learned that it's not that unusual. ;)

Beta is climbing jargon that designates information about a climb.[1][2] The complexity of beta can range from a small hint about a difficult section to a step-by-step instruction of the entire climb.[1][3] In rock climbing this may include information about a climb's difficulty, crux, style, length, quality of rock, ease to protect, required equipment, and specific information about hand or foot holds. For mountaineering, beta may include information about the length and difficulty of the approach, availability of water on the climb and the approach, ease of exiting the route before completing it, descent information, perhaps even useful logistic information for climbs in foreign countries.[citation needed] Sometimes beta is also drawn, in the form of a beta-map.[4][5]

There's something cool about Megan perching too then reach up and grab winged holds.

Most likely the idea was to mantle up using your left arm to push or do a muscleup movement to get over!
