Gabriela's last name is Schiess, not Scheiss. It might not make much of a difference in English, but believe me, the latter is not a name you'd want to have in a German-speaking country.
Ooo tell us what it means! Sounds like the time I was hitch hiking to Vienna and wrote on my sign "Wein" instead of "Wien"... took me ages to get picked up!
Im am truly humbled to see her fighting through the pain, one legged. I mean id say the competition is not more important then her health, but i understand her mindset, she gives it her all. What an incredible athlete!
I love how you make these videos. They're not overly dramatic or filled with unnecessary things. It's just plain and simple, easy to understand for everyone once you take us through the needed knowledge. Keep it up!
Beyond her ability to climb through pain, I love how she adapts her technique to avoid pushing off-axis. Her body awareness, to make the most of her it even in a dysfunctional state while limiting further injury (+ while in pain), is really amazing!
The raw emotion in the commentators voice when he cries out "COME ON, PETRA!" literally brought tears to my eyes. The willpower on this woman is absolutely astounding.
Watching that leg fold gave my flashbacks of all the times I have injured my own knees. The fact that she kept going was inspirational. What an amazing climber.
This is kind of a minor thing but I've been watching a ton of your videos lately, and I think it's really cool that you make such an effort to pronounce all these climber's names correctly!
I am quite surprised that no swiss commented yet. Well, then I will take my chance. I really like the video and you and your format especially. Mach wiiter so Petra, mir alli glaubed a dich 🇨🇭.
These videos are so good, they feel very professional and I also like that you love climbing so much, and are able to convey the ability of the athletes
What op said. I love that you cover a wide range of climbing styles too, showing just how versatile climbing is and all the different ways you can solve a problem. Which is what I love about climbing!
That left leg folding send pain through my body! I’ve broken my left knee twice and have chronic pain - it really gets in the way of climbing sometimes! :( Petra is a fighter! Such an inspiration!
True persistence makes me cry. What a BADASS. Your mind just doesn’t give up, no matter how bad your body is hurting. GOD. Petra is amazing for what she did, I don’t even care that she didn’t top the climb, her willingness to go on.... ugh. That made me cry so hard
@@AlbertOkay I think they're referring to Petra (at the title of your vid; around 0:42). But I think it may have been a promo/ad for a jewelry company she seems to be in affiliation with (I've seen her post about it on her IG!)
At about 0:38 she is also wearing one while climbing, I just saw it for a brief second. And even if she wears it for a promo, imho it's just plain stupid, especially as a pro
Amazing video 🙏Petra has an incredible mindset. Never new much about ice climbing so thanks for this. How did you do in your ice dry comp? Maybe share in another video?
I wasn't able to make finals because I ran out of time. I was pretty close, but I literally learned how to dry tool the day of so I actually fell on the easiest route on the first attempt of the day, but was soon able to climb the second hardest route in the competition first try. I should talk about it in a future video!
Albert Ok you are very welcome. I’ve just watched it again and subscribed to your channel. Will look out for future videos! Stay safe and stay strong 💪👍😀
Damn... I just badly sprained my ankle 3 hours ago hiking in the Alps and i seriously bust out crying watching the last clip... Absolutely unbelievable and that's crazy inspirational
I love how her name suits what she likes to do. petra = rock in latin and Klingler that sounds like clinger from clinging to something lol. Petra Klingler = rock clinger. She is amazing!!!
Albert, I want to thank you for pronouncing all these athletes names correctly. Seeing the title, I was waiting for Petra's name to be butchered, but I was pleasantly surprised. :) Keep making these awesome videos!
What the hell??? I got the same knee injury, and what happened to me is that I simply dropped from the wall, and I had so much pain that I couldn't even ask for help, I couldn't speak! That was the most painful experience in my life. She probably had a more severe injury than mine (because of her shoe stuck in the wall hence not releasing the weight that's on her knee), probably much more pain (depends how her kneecap moved), and she continued... I'm astonished. I couldn't move nor speak, she made moves at competition level. When watching the video clip, I imagined the pain, as I know what it was like... I'm sweating so much right now...
It's very dangerous! They always have the crowds away from anywhere the picks could drop and the belayer and officials all wear helmets and are watching to run out of the way if it happens!
I looked up her injuries and it said "overstretched ligaments and a squeezed meniscus". It looked like there was a pop tho that led to her knee buckling and it wasn't just from fatigue. Very odd. It's almost like it originated in her hip spazzing or something
Beta is climbing jargon that designates information about a climb.[1][2] The complexity of beta can range from a small hint about a difficult section to a step-by-step instruction of the entire climb.[1][3] In rock climbing this may include information about a climb's difficulty, crux, style, length, quality of rock, ease to protect, required equipment, and specific information about hand or foot holds. For mountaineering, beta may include information about the length and difficulty of the approach, availability of water on the climb and the approach, ease of exiting the route before completing it, descent information, perhaps even useful logistic information for climbs in foreign countries.[citation needed] Sometimes a beta is also drawn, in the form of a beta-map.[4][5] It is common for climbers to have different beta for the same climb. In other words, more than one possible solution that can get the climber to the top. These can vary in terms of difficulty. It is not uncommon for climbs to get downgraded in their difficulty rating once easier beta is discovered.[6]

Never EVER climb with rings on your fingers, you can seriously hurt them up to the point that you completely lose that exact same finger. Just DON'T!

what is a hodini match never heard that terminology before
Both your hands grab a hold, but not at the same time, you quickly switch hands while on good footing like a hop switch for feet.
Thanks for the info
It's called a ghost match, as well. He mentions them in the episode about Danny Valencia in Ep. 6. Definitely worth a watch.
cause it came out of nowhere like houdini
