You have violated God's Law that He wrote in your heart; your own conscience condemns you. Therefore, you deserve 'the fine'-the punishment of hell. But God is good, gracious, and kind. He desires to show you mercy! For this reason, Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) died on the cross. The Law was violated, but Christ paid the fine. And by seeing how happy you were and are, their argument kinda... Drops. Tho many children long for a parent of a different gender, it doesn't mean all will.
Even if you have a male and female parent it still doesn't necessarily work because there would always be at least some children longing for 1 parent, or 2 of the same gender. Personally I'd probably like 2 mothers if I was to choose what I think I'd like most.
Those people seriously need to get a grip and realize children should be treated as individuals and not "well mommy and daddy setup work for MY little one, so obviously I know better for every other child everywhere out there in the world" 🤧
OMG. I ama lesbian and I am thinking about having a wife and children in the future but I know the probability is so low. But still, I really want to be a mother and I know that my children would need a male figure so I would make sure they got male figures. And I think people don't look at only one parent as a model. I think all children look at both of their parents as their role models.

Because of the title, I clicked on this video expecting an in depth report about every single aspect of your life and an analysis on what things are different from straight parenting. But at the end it was clear: there's no need for convoluted explanations. That single anecdote you shared is the proof and that all that is needed to know is that you had parents that loved you the way every child deserves to be loved. It's so obvious yet it surprised me still.
My best friend has two moms and when we first started school I got so confused that she was the only person in my school with that- anyway, years later we’re still best friends and her moms are still the two people that I can trust the same as my own parents :)
In 2008, I was in kindergarten. One kid told us they had two moms, which for some reason the rest of the class saw as a flex. Another kid went “oh yeah? Well I have THREE moms” and I claimed to have eight moms.
Real I remember hearing the word gay when I was 3 and used context clues to find what it means and thought "Oh, people of the same gender can date? Ok." And didn't think about it more than that
When i was a kid i saw my aunt kiss her girlfriend and i was confused, so i asked "who is she". She said "my partner" and i was like "ok cool". Idk where this thing about kids being confused by gay people comes from.
I remember when I was little, I saw my mom talking to a guy with earings (Yes, he was very handsome) and just being in total awe, like- "I didn't know some boys liked girl stuff, too!" And excitedly talked to my mom about it on the way home. Seeing a male wearing what I grew up to see as 'girl things' was the equivalent of running into a shiny pokemon in the wild.
I literally thought the same thing as a kid, it was just like normal marriage to me, of course my very religious parents had so much to say about it but I could never understand the reason for homophobia lol
By exploiting the limits of law. Some gay couples can only have one legal adoptive parent for their adoptive (most states back then require marriage license for joint or couple adoption).
@@rainb5987 in my country a guy can only adapt boys and the boy has to be younger than 25 years. i don't have problem with that but gay marriage is illegal 🤧

as a lesbian one of my biggest dreams is to be a mom, i always loved children and taking care of them and seeing them happy, but sometimes i think mostly cuz of internalized homophobia i won't be as good as a heterosexual couple of parents, maybe I'll make them mad about their own home and make them go trought discrimination, but this reminded me that there's lots of families of different shapes and forms, but what's important is love and acceptance at the end of the day, im all happy now & ty for sharing ur story 🫶🏻

You just keep making these types of videos. It’s important! You have got a beautiful experience and you gotta share it. Your family is cool, gorgeous, healthy, unique and absolutely normal. And you have the talent to make this!
Discovered your channel today. Love your intelligent and thoughtful dialogue. The videos with your dads when you were a baby made me happy. Absolutely adorable.
Thank you for sharing your story. IMHO this a great time to share these stories and what I hope is it will impress upon people that their children are naturally curious, they will ask and giving them an honest, respectable answer often satisfies their curiosity but also teaches them which contributes towards expanding their horizons. That little girl's response also highlights that we often lead children down a negative path instead of allowing them to stay on their own path of acceptance.
That little girl who said she wanted 2 dads made me realize just how much I would have been happy just having 1 dad. Unfortunately, when you’re unwanted, unplanned, & your teenage parents were “forced to keep you,” there’s no love or want for you to even be around. It’s been decades since I last saw him & he doesn't even know how amazing my kids turned out. He missed everything & it is HIS loss. Friends are the family you choose & blood means nothing when you aren't loved or wanted. Great video & I hope everyone learns this excellent message! 💜😽💋
Ben, this was beautiful and incredibly well done!! The storytelling was fantastic, especially with such an honest, heartfelt voiceover. What a relief it was to hear that girl say "that's so cool!" in response to her asking why you had 2 dads. It's amazing how small interactions like this when you're young can affect you the rest of your life. I wonder what it would have been like growing up if she had said something else, but I'm glad that it was a positive experience :) Also awww young Ben. You didn't just make a youtube video, you made a phenomenal short film. Can't wait to see more videos and learn more about your story! As an adoptee, I can relate to having others wonder why my parents don't look like me, but I just openly tell them that I'm adopted. Embracing that is the best thing you can do!
Wowwww! Lily, thank you so much for this very thoughtful response. I absolutely agree, these small interactions can often compound over time. They play a large part in our development, shaping us into who we are and how we feel about ourselves. I am very lucky and grateful that she and many of my peers were enthusiastic and accepting of my differences. What a special thing. Thanks for your insight, Lily! I really appreciate it and can't wait to share more and to continue learning from your journey.

It's a good idea to prepare a small child who's different for those questions. Children are so curious and have no filter, so those questions are bound to come up, and having already been presented with a good answer by your parents can really help. (No need to make a big deal out of it, of course, since the point is that it's not a big deal - just putting words on something in a positive/neutral way will help the child to later use those words themselves.)
Only got this recommended to me a few years later, but I dont know why this brings me so much joy to see. I’m a teenage girl (as of right now) who has two dads, one biological and the other adoptive. I was a surrogate baby. They’ve always been my parents no matter what anyone thinks, and our relationship is the exact same as any heterosexual parents with their children. I’ll never understand where people get the notion that sex or gender determine anything in our upbringing, because that is simply not true if you try to treat life as equal. Two men and two women (or other pairings) are just as capable and incapable of raising children as anyone other hetero couple. Thanks for telling your childhood experiences, I know I’ve had to go through similar things, and I hope to watch the rest of this series when I get the chance to. Have a wonderful day!

In all my 71 years of searching, I have found in your attitude the purpose, reason, & idealism we are all meant to live.
Gay dads represented in animated children’s classic nursery rhymes. As sung by Broadway’s CJ Pawlikowski (who currently stars as Bob Gaudio in “Jersey Boys” in NYC) the lyrics to “Five Little Monkeys” have been changed to “their daddies called the doctor and the doctor said.” Now is the time for representation! #progressongs
My best friend as a child was adopted by two dads. I met him when I was 4 and not ONCE did I think it was weird that he had two dads, it was just how his family was. Proud you stayed confident in yourself and had others to accept you as well, its so important for a kid
I also have two dads! Though for a different reason, parents got divorced when i was around two and my dad fell inlove with his soon to be husband. Can’t wait for their marriage after 10 years!
The thing about having gay parents is that you know you're going to be taught love and acceptance, rather than hate, which is more unhealthy and does nothing by cause yourself and others damage.
I just got this recommended to me. You hit the algorithm. And I hope your channel explodes like it should because this honestly is so cute and showed me an example of someone else’s life which is so cool and awesome. Leaving a comment for your continued success on UA-cam! ❤

Even if you have a male and female parent it still doesn't necessarily work because there would always be at least some children longing for 1 parent, or 2 of the same gender. Personally I'd probably like 2 mothers if I was to choose what I think I'd like most.
Those people seriously need to get a grip and realize children should be treated as individuals and not "well mommy and daddy setup work for MY little one, so obviously I know better for every other child everywhere out there in the world" 🤧
As someone with two moms I was shocked when I saw how many people want two moms .

It's so obvious yet it surprised me still.
this is a really sweet comment :))
The biggest problem with having 2 dads is the sheer amount of dad jokes one has to endure their entire life.
Hey, atleast no mom jokes
😂😂😂😂
"You have no dad"
"Jokes on you i have twice as many dads as you"
Well, if you have two moms, you'll get double the amount of 'yo momma' jokes thrown at you 😅😂
fatherless behavior? no, no, no: *father² behavior*
Yes that young Ben Smith was quite a dazzler...
Why thank you!
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣, that's cutely hilarious.
😂😂😂😂😂😂❤🎉
😂😂😂😂
“If you tell kids that gay people exist they will be confused!”
Kids when you tell them gay people exist: “oh ok wow cool- anyways 😃”
Real I remember hearing the word gay when I was 3 and used context clues to find what it means and thought "Oh, people of the same gender can date? Ok." And didn't think about it more than that
When i was a kid i saw my aunt kiss her girlfriend and i was confused, so i asked "who is she". She said "my partner" and i was like "ok cool".
Idk where this thing about kids being confused by gay people comes from.
When i was kid I was afraid of them a little
I remember when I was little, I saw my mom talking to a guy with earings (Yes, he was very handsome) and just being in total awe, like- "I didn't know some boys liked girl stuff, too!" And excitedly talked to my mom about it on the way home. Seeing a male wearing what I grew up to see as 'girl things' was the equivalent of running into a shiny pokemon in the wild.
I literally thought the same thing as a kid, it was just like normal marriage to me, of course my very religious parents had so much to say about it but I could never understand the reason for homophobia lol
i had no idea gay dads could adopt back then! But im sooooo glad they could . or thered be no ben smith!

By exploiting the limits of law. Some gay couples can only have one legal adoptive parent for their adoptive (most states back then require marriage license for joint or couple adoption).

as a lesbian one of my biggest dreams is to be a mom, i always loved children and taking care of them and seeing them happy, but sometimes i think mostly cuz of internalized homophobia i won't be as good as a heterosexual couple of parents, maybe I'll make them mad about their own home and make them go trought discrimination, but this reminded me that there's lots of families of different shapes and forms, but what's important is love and acceptance at the end of the day, im all happy now & ty for sharing ur story 🫶🏻

So u guys would rather have kids in foster homes with no one to take care of them than letting loving gay people adopt them? How weird

I would have rather had two loving gay parents than them..also what do u guys think abt children with single parents, pretty sure they wud prefer two parents

As a young gay guy (15) I’ve been thinking about having kids and my future overall… in this economy I’m not sure I’ll be able to but if things get better by the time I have a partner then I could have a kid.
