In regards to DKC: Kremling's Revenge, there is actually another rom hack as an addendum to it called DKC: Kremling's Revenge Remodel. It actually tones down the extreme difficulty of the later levels to be more on par with the original DKC challenge-wise (along with a few other changes).
ty for that, i dont want to deal with Kaizo level bullshit in a rom hack, it's something that irks me greatly, too many devs want to turn the difficulty over 9000 and really just get downright sadistic about it. not like i dont enjoy a challenge, what i dont enjoy is ripping my hair off my head in frustration like i'm Mick Foley. lol
@@UltimateGamerCC No problem! I completely agree. I know some people like Kaizo, but I'm not a fan of it either. I like a fair and reasonable challenge without being stupidly crazy as I want to enjoy a game without getting too frustrated. I always appreciate when rom hackers match the difficulty of the vanilla game and don't add in complete pixel-perfect BS.
@@UltimateGamerCC I feel like there are plenty of retro games that are way harder and unfair than Dark Souls. Dark Souls is not remotely close to what can be considered kaizo hard.

yup, i'm very happy that there is more Goof Troop to enjoy, and it catches the essence of what made Goof Troop good, rather than just spike the difficulty up to the stars.
Gemfire was my FAVORITE game as a kid, and I've replayed it several times as an adult. I can't believe there's a rom hack for it. I guess for me, and mostly me only, it's an essential experience I must try. I wrote fan fiction for the Gemfire universe when I was like 8.
Gemfire is one of my favorite games of all time on SNES. I probably rented and paid late charges on it enough to buy ten of them. Glad to see it getting some love.
Nice to see Gemfire get some love. I hope the rebalancing turns the difficulty up, one of the game's biggest flaws is it's just too easy, enemy nations build very slowly compared to a decent player, and are very passive unless they have a clear numbers advantage which generally never happens because they build slowly.
Love when I can see the labor of love some people take on in their free time, especially when it just adds replay value and new adventures of sorts for some of the best games/series. Thank you! I appreciate these videos.
Some of my favorite romhacks recently are the improvement patches for Castlevania on GBA and DS. Dawn of Sorrow in particular was an awesome game buried under a lame art style and touch screen gimmicks that nearly ruined it for me. Both fixed now, thanks modders!

Dude I had Goof Troop growing up with my snes and I played it to DEATH! I absolutely loved it as a kid because it was challenging but rewarding! You felt an accomplishment when you completing puzzles and beating bosses! Awesome that your showing a hack for such a 💎!
The Super Boss Collection Mario hack is an awesome pick up and play! I streamed it this past weekend it's amazing seeing all the bosses going up against Mario
Yes, SMW has a ton of awesome rom hacks. A Plumber For All Seasons by White Yoshi Egg was a particularly well made one I remember. I love to watch a lot of these being played by BarbarousKing, my favorite streamer of all time....

the fact that we have ONE now is pretty amazing, but maybe that will open the floodgates as it were and we'll see more of them, like we're starting to see Banjo-Kazooie mods in a sea of Mario 64 mods.
I cannot express how excited I am that you included JUMP 1/2 in this list! It really straddles the line between a Standard Expert hack and a Kaizo Lite hack perfectly. That being said, I'd be even more excited to see an actual Kaizo hack or two included in future lists (as long as they're not too brutal, as that might scare some people away).

Great video! I've heard of a few of these rom hacks! The rom hacking community is amazing! I actually didn't know Rockman 7 EP was a completely different game from the original Rockman 7. I thought it was only a slight modification of Rockman 7 with a few quality of life improvements. I'm definitely checking it out along with some of the others. That is impressive! It is also amazing that we have what is essentially "DLC" for many of these classic games!

It's so cool that we're finally getting DKC romhacks! One type of Romhack I'd really start to see popularized are some Ristar ones... I saw some level editor? Don't know if that'd help. Ristar and Pulseman... But I can see Ristar coming sooner for some reason.
I'm playing Rockman 7 EP and it's so awesome! Everything in this hack is very creative. Every fan of Rockman 7 will love this almost new game! I've always wanted more from retro gaming. A friend once said when we're playing SNES: "man, they should never stop making games like this." So, the rom hackers and improvers are really giving what we always wanted. These guys are the actual heroes of these games!

When you said the Rockman 7 hack was made by the same person as Rockman 4 minus infinity, that was all I needed to hear. Instantly sold. RM4-∞ is as good or even better than any official release, it's amazing.

Genfire is one of my all time Favorites of all games. It got me started on the KOEI games. Also, me and my friends called ourselves "Gemfyrians" thanks to that game. Yes it's mispelled due to copyright stuff. We were young, so reasons and things.
Man, KUDOS to the people or person who coded/created the 'New Super Mario Land' port. It looks absolutely amazing. If only that person could jump in a time machine and toss that to Mr. Miyamoto to release with the SNES. Thay would be extremely wealthy, that's for sure
