It's compatible with the still, quite powerful for Boot Camp gaming on sunday rest, comaptible Late 2015 5K iMac w/ the latest OpenCore-Patcher but you have to restart again. The Wifi problem is no more. Thank Dortania and Mr. Macintosh. But coz' I had to force shutdown and reboot, it's best to repair it with a new installer of macOS Sonoma 14.5 and use the Recovery mode using the external disk (great for start-up backup, there must always be one)- it's an effort but nothing easy (it's all hard just different degrees of hardness). God bless us.
Thanks for sharing, I'm running Windows 10 via bootcamp on probably 40% of my Macs. Just last week I did an erase and install of only windows 10, it is running great!
@@Mr.Macintosh Thanks, by the way, Mac users who want to boot to their Windows installer and Windows Environment which uses the Windows PE operating system will not be able to boot (BSOD) while OpenCore-Patcher is "On" but if you click the spacebar to sort of turn off OpenCore Patcher, if that doesn't work I just rename the stuff in EFI that OpenCore put (rename it later when I'm done using the Windows PE via the Windows Recovery Environment or the Windows Installer. The best way to fix Windows Boot Camp is via the built-in Windows Environment Command Prompt using DISM /RestoreHealth that's the fastest assuming WinRE's not damaged. There's no /RestoreHealth parameter in the USB Windows installer. Also, it's always best to delete and a create partition and format on Windows itself for cross compatibility (say you have a storage you'd like to use for both macOS and Windows), sometimes those formatted on Disk Utility will not mount on Windows even if the format is compatible (exFAT, FAT32).

Hi friend, I am wondering if downgrade from Sonoma to Ventura and would like to know you opinion in this regard .... so basically I decided to move from my 2019 intel MBP and bought this second handMBP M1 Pro 16Ram, 1tb.... it is awesome, but battery health is at 86% and the battery performance is a bit disappointing, basically performing as good as my 2019 MBP on catalina... but this has an M1 and much bigger battery... when I installed bigsur on my intel MBP 2019 I felt like they stoled my computer and when downgraded to catalina I felt my computer was back... does this apply similarly with the present case? thanks Mr. Macintosh
Not directly related to the video, but for Content Caching, have you had a bug where it would create garbage data in the user Library? On all devices I have tried hosting Content Caching on, even when using external hard drives for the cache, it would slowly fill up some folder in the user Library, and if you deleted the folder, it breaks the cache.
Weirdest thing in late 2013 kepler imac: grabbed the latest oclp 1.4.3 version (I already had that installed in hind sight) and installed it to EFI . I ignored reboot and installed root patches. Then I rebooted and now Sonoma 14.4 is hanging at 3/4 the progress bar. I did not install Sonoma 14.5 . Am I the only one?! I suspect loginwindow crash. I rebooted with shift holding, now i have login screen but it doesn't login. Keeps spinning date and background picture... Any ideas welcome. BTW i did reinstall oclp out of habit before updating macos. I was assuming 14.5 would go flawless as i saw in the comments with same old devices.

EDIT: Do you think Apple could be keeping hush on the details to keep info more hidden from bad actors? If so, it probably won't matter or really work. They probably know already.
Hey @tmajormajor6292, your Retina 2012 is still a great device! The only issue is you are not getting the latest security updates. You could try macOS Monterey as it is still supported but still not Ventura or Sonoma. You could also give it a shot on a 2nd partition while keeping Catalina if you want to just test it out.

The latest Open Core patcher has totally destroyed my iMac intel fusion, I just got a screen of dos data. After many times of trying to reboot, safe mode, and reinstall all I am getting now is the dreaded qustion mark in a folder icon.
My machine is a MBP mid 2010 laptop, which was running fine on 14.4.x w/OCLP and after the 14.5 update it seems to be booting, as expected, without the root patching but very laggy upon reaching the desktop. As it loads up all the start-up stuff, but before I can get OCLP on screen to run the root patching stuff, the system desktop seems to force close/crash (I get verbose text displayed and then it comes back to the login screen. If I log in, it's rinse and repeat endlessly now. I even tried booting using the USB I made of 14.5 w/it patched and I get the same result. How can I get around this? Update: after trying several approaches via USB media/recovery and terminal to no avail, I was able to get OCLP access via safe mode boot (hold Shft after selecting the EFI & drive to boot from until you see the login window and the "safe boot" red notice in the taskbar). Then patch as usual and reboot. I personally repatched my usb media to make sure it works as it seemed not to be booting patched after having made the media with 14.5.

Interesting, I tried Sonoma on a 2014 mini with the 2.8 GHz processor and found it too laggy. Click, pause, response. On Ventura it works much better. The other problem I've run into is although MacOS works fine, the software I want does not. The software vendors assume if you are running a particular OS then of course your CPU is at least X, and guarantees instruction set Y is available. When it isn't crash thud splat goes the software. Sometimes the failure is less drastic, this is from Shotcut. "Important: If you have a Mac that is over 10 years old you might experience a video preview color problem due to our migration to Apple Metal. In that case, use version 22.12.21."
Am I the only one thinking there has been an update to the CPU scheduler in 14.5? I'm experiencing a consistant 2-3% increase in benchmarking on my 2015 MBP using Speedometer 3.0, Geekbench 6 and Unigine Heaven
The lack of notes drives me crazy. Funny enough, it’s one of the reasons I watch your videos: to see if you’ve heard anything more about an update, or has anything in testing. I feel like I Apple has been slowly faltering in the quality of their software side of things, particularly the OS teams. I’m not sure if they’re overextended, in need of new management, or being pushed to focus on certain things, besides overall quality and documentation.
Thank you @rickkarrer8370! Don't get me wrong, some of the fine grain details are pretty boring, but apple does not publish any of this info and when a user is having problems, version info like this can be really helpful! Same with the newer found fixes, I would love to publish the video sooner but some of the most important info comes out during the launch day. It's almost like Apple doesn't want you to think macOS has any bugs! 🤪

Cool, may it compatible with OpenCore-Patcher 1.4.3. coz' 14.5 is huge update and may be significant. But the safest is to have a separated partition w/ macSonoma or another macOS installed which can be on a fast external drive or NAS and test things out theres, for those who use the Mac for mission critical things or an organization like a school, company or government agency may be affected; especially for non-Metal Macs. God bless Mr. Macintosh.
Thank you @SevenDeMagnus. I agree and think that is a good point. Next video I will mention that you don't have to immediately install the update. Install it on an external hard drive, 2nd partition or just wait a bit just to be safe. I hope by installing it on a small amount of different Macs at least helps find any major issues.

Put all your files on an external drive people.. then if something doesnt work all you have to do is reinstall the operating system and any programs. Back up back up back up!
Hey, I don't know if you read comments or not, but I was wondering if you could help me out. I own one of your demonstration macs 2014 15 inch macbook pro running macOS sonoma. Since 14.4 the autojoin networks have not been working. I have tried forgetting the network and rejoining and trying to add it using other networks but nothing is working. I was wondering how you are able to solve it.
Mr Macintosh you are on point when you call out Apple's poor macOS release notes. They currently suck and they should do better.
It would be super easy to apply a noise filter in your editing software to remove that fan sound your mic picks up on all your recordings. Just a thought for a more pro sounding video!
Thanks .. I'll wait a couple of weeks before upgrade my 2012 Macbook pro. Thanks for all the information. V.I.P.
Good work 👏🏻
Thanks Mr. Mac, I really appreciate your content. Keep up the great work. Mike, Northern Ireland 👌🍻
Thanks for al your great work MrM
Thank you @EddieRIffau !!!
My macbook air 2014 ram 8, was used Sonoma 14.5 but the fan always on, and my macbook is hot
I've long been confused by how Apple's OS updates are more "Application updates" than OS updates.
I literally have no idea what the latest Homepod update did either i hate how many times i've seen "Security updates, bug fixes and performance improvements" That's fine as a summary, but I would much prefer a detailed breakdown as well.
VIP Thank you for your wonderful job of sanity checking and detailing each update. Agree that Apple's shallow OS release notes are lame, but hey it's their ball and their court. What's a user gonna do? I've got 3 different models unsupported so gonna wait a few days to update the batch. Thanks, Mr Macintosh
Thanks @johnparsons5010 for being a long haul viewer! I obviously agree on how the update notes are lame and keep going back and forth on if I should bring it up. I don't want to become an annoying record. But I also don't want to portray someone who is just fine with whatever apple throws at us. Also no problem waiting, I also wait about a week or 2 before updating my main device 👍
I updated my Mid 2012 Mac from Big Sur to Sonoma but it's lagging bad. Should I downgrade it?
You're absolutely right ranting...
? How is Battery performance on 13.6.6 or 13.6.7 ? Macbook Air M2? I am still on Ventura 13.4 and battery performance is great no drain with lid closed.it it safe to update? Appreciate any replies
Is there any way for you to prevent a full fledged commercial that can't be skipped on your channel? Or do I have to quit youtube just as I did prime video?
VIP Thanks As ALWAYS!
Mid 2009 MBP 5,2 Intel Core Duo (Non-Metal)
Weirdest thing in late 2013 kepler imac:
grabbed the latest oclp 1.4.3 version (I already had that installed in hind sight) and installed it to EFI .
Thanks Working perfectly, on a Macbook Air 2017.
Running logic pro 11 already!!!
Thank you Mr.Macintosh 👍👍👍👍👍
Successfully updated to Monterey 12.7.5 on Macbook Pro late 2008. Just in case: make sure you've got OCLP 1.4.3 installed BEFORE installing the update.
I'm using MacBook Pro m1 Should I upgrade from Monterey to Sonoma 14.5 ?
Have the same device, have you updated it?
Just updated mid-2011 27" iMac using 1.4.3 OCLP. However, Sonoma does not recognise my wireless card is there a solution to this issue
Help… I somehow skipped a step and now my MacBook Pro is just showing a black screen with Apple logo. What must I do to continue or recover?
Watched most of the video on my iPhone while my mini updated. Thanks for the info..... You're an 'unlicensed' Genius!! ....Now, iPhone/iPad update time! EDIT: Do you think Apple could be keeping hush on the details to keep info more hidden from bad actors? If so, it probably won't matter or really work. They probably know already.
Hi, I use a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) operating macOS Catalina, should I upgrade to Ventura or Sonoma using the open core legacy patcher?
Hey @tmajormajor6292, your Retina 2012 is still a great device! The only issue is you are not getting the latest security updates. You could try macOS Monterey as it is still supported but still not Ventura or Sonoma. You could also give it a shot on a 2nd partition while keeping Catalina if you want to just test it out.
@@Mr.Macintosh Thanks
Thank you Mr.Macintosh...
Well, I must be out of the loop brother because I got no clue why all these comments keep saying VIP. ???? I havent tuned in for a while...must have missed the signifigance..LOL
Working properly with iMac mid 2011
What is the work around for usb keyboard and mouse required to run on post install. I have 5,4 macbook pro (mid 2010). I use to use anker usb hub and connect logitech bluetooth usb and it use to work great. But no longer supported. I even tried usb keyboard and mouse. It didnt work. What do I need?
Hello 😊 How to allow a MacBook with a T2 security chip to boot macOS from a flash drive, given that the SSD is formatted and only a picture of a folder on a black background is visible on the screen when turned on? Is it possible to do this using a second connected MacBook via DFU?
mac os sonoma was a rushed job. im having issues with my sonoma install on my 2013 15" macbook pro. so im proably going to go back to Catalina.
Hi Mr Mac,,i just want to let everyone here too know that the Apple ss Polaris Only M2 ssd, works so Good!,On these Older Macs!...I installed the 250gb ss Polaris in my 2013 Mac Pro Trashcan,,and its Freekin Fast!..Blows the apple ssubx ssd away big time!.....1500 read...1450 write, no adaptor!
I tried to run the root patch on my Macbook with Mac OS Sonoma, and now I can't log in even with the correct password. 😢
I have the Sonoma 14.4.1 Os and my wifi keeps turning off when it goes to sleep. How do I prevent wifi from shutting off when it is in sleep mode?
How is the battery life? Since I updated my m1 pro 14" from 14.1.1 I lost the battery life like 1.5-2 hours. Is there any solution?
My version is 10.13.6 macOS. I reset it to the factory default and can not get back macOS.
I updated to Monterey on 2011 27” iMac. Can I use software update to advance to Sonoma?
I Downloaded macOS Sonoma 14.5 on my 2011 MacBook Pro 17 inch thank to your video but first issue I’m having is FaceTime video is not working I can see the video of my caller but my video is not turn on or active , it is also running a lil slow . I was wondering if you can assist on this ? VIP
I just got a new MBP 2016 touch bar and trying to see does Opencore works on it to get Sonoma on it?
Mid-2011 Mac Mini stuck on Login (after entering password). MacOS 14.5 & OCLP 1.4.3. Tried Safe Boot, PRAM Reset, still stuck. Little spinny thing goes forever. 😓
m1 mac mini, running 14.4.1, the first attempt to download 14.5 was slow. Stopped it, waited 20 seconds then started it now fast
I have a mid 2012 Mac book pro i7 processor i want to upgrade to Sonoma 14.5
bro i have this problem of my mac screen not waking up after sleep...it takes a while after i push some buttons..it started during the last update and i hoped this update would fix it ..but it didnt..also my keyboards kinda acting weird and unresponsive ..is there any fix to this ..im using the macbook air m1 2020 model....im guessing its apples work to limit power of older devices inorder for customers to buy new one!
I hope by installing it on a small amount of different Macs at least helps find any major issues.
on macbook pro early 2011 and Monterey. is it worth the upgrade to Sonoma?
no
When I hit create mac intaller it doesnt do it just has open core pop back up any fix for that?
Migration Assitant is not working in Macbook mid 2010, any suggestions please
Hello Guys. I admit my stupidity, but I've updated to 14.5 without running the KDK package before proceeding on a late 2013 iMac 21.5-
inch. Now, the system keeps restarting in looping. Actually, when restart, the system stops at the login screen, but soon as I try logging in, it reboots itself. Can anyone please help me? Cheers.
Great video. Thanks!
My macbook pro 2017 15 inch is freezing after some few seconds when logged in
Thanks dude, as always !
What, they didn't add more diverse icons?
oh gosh don't remind me how many times previously apple based an entire release around emoji ☹️
Will Mac OS Sonoma be the last Iast Intel Mac OS
Is battery life good on this Sonoma update for unsupported MACs?
I recently installed Ventura and battery life isn't good.
