  • Learn how to say: hello, thanks, you are welcome, and bye in Chinese. These are expressions that are most commonly used on daily basis. If you never learned Chinese before, I believe you will still be able to master these four expressions in this short video. Just repeat after me and imitate :-)

I’ve spent about 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture, and many years studying Chinese culture. My native language is Chinese. I teach Chinese in humorous way and with cute pictures.
Hope somebody recommend my videos to those who want to learn Chinese.

I wish you were my foreign language teacher growing up. I made the mistake of not learning Mandarin, Korean or Japanese when it was offered in school. Learning French was fine, but I lost most of it not by not speaking it often. I'm grateful for UA-cam so that learning other languages aren't so intimidating and you can go at you own pace.

I will meet my girlfriends family on chinese new year (she is chinese). I have learned japanese before and know 漢字 (Kanji). This gives me a slight advance. However, chinese use them in a different way, pronounce them different and the meaning also differs sometimes. Biggest problem for me is the chinese (mandarin) pronounciation.

Its only when you try learn other languages that you realize how sophisticated of a muscle(?) the human tongue is, lol. A big part of my job is to communicate with people who dont speak a word of English, often Chinese people. Learning basic Mandarin phrases is really helpful. But pronouncing Mandarin phrases accurately is proving to be devilishly difficult; given the completely new ways i have to contort my tongue to get the pronunciation right. Pretty fun though!
