Brent Mason is such amazing guitarist.I am now just discovering this man.I was never raised in country music.I was raised playing rock and blues, but after wanting to expand my knowledge in chicken picking is where I found out how many good country guitarists there were. Vince Gill, Brad Paisley,Eugene Eduards, and many more,,
well i'm a guitarist originally from nashville and still have alot of love for the musicians from my home town. As a kid i didnt want anything to do with country music but once you move away and get over your teenage self old country and real country music is like listening to your childhood and your history. Mr. Mason sure turned on the shred in this vid. chris scruggs is also a fantastic guitarist with a story to accompany every lick. and, besides just country, william tyler has a certain touch thats old and new at the same time. not to mention the great steel players old and young; guys like luke schneider who was fantastic in the old nashville mathy instrumental band "character" but also does solo stuff on steel or more pop meets old country with margo price. nashville guitar has a great community
I think that's Dave Rowe, he played with Jerry Reed and Johnny Cash. He's just killing it here, with bass it's not how much you play, it's where you put it.
@@axeman2638 I agree. thats Dave Rowe, who's played with everybody. He talks about touring with Dwight Yokum as well ( says nobody treats their crew better).
I grew up 6 miles from the Mason brothers. His brother Randy is a fabulous musician in his own right with some pretty amazing credits. Used to go there on occasion and watch Randy practice.
I'm not a country boy, but I love Nashville and can't deny how magnificent their musicians are. I just found out about Brent through Wampler pedals. Damn he's good! I must say from a drummer's perspective this is also one of the most fun things to play and listen to. Cheers from Thunder Bay!
Jan Patrick Lucas I’m listening to Greg Marra’s podcast interview with Brian Wampler and he mentioned his name, never heard of the guy and here I am BLOWN AWAY! Goddamn!!!!!
I just love the way David Gilmore is sitting back playing bass and saying I'm not getting involved with whatever is going on with these two lunatics 😅😂
If you listened to The Nashville Network in the mid-late 90's you heard Brent's music all over that channel's program advertising (commercials for Nashville Now, TNN Motorsports etc.)
Really nice performance of this. Chuck gets a few things done better here than the other people I've seen jam this tune with Brent. His opening phrases to his trade-offs relate to the last thing Brent played, his Tele tone is that hollow type strat-position-2-and-4 type sound (contrasting to and staying out of the way of Brent's tone) and he's playing the main rhythm riffs with all the licks, not just the simplified chords with the 1 and 5 bass notes. All great players here. "these guys" ha. Excellent.
All I ask for is to be inspired. Many great players out there but Brent is one of them that makes me stop everything and pick up my guitar on the spot.
Excellent picking by Brent and Chuck Ward. Check out Chucks riffs starting at the 2:10 time marker...damn! And that drummer is wickedly good at holding down a train beat while the bass man hangs right in there with him creating a nice solid bottom!
yea if they keep practicing they are going to be goo one day. AWESOME!!!!! THAT DRUMMER WAS GROOVING ,LOVED IT ALL!! I WAS JOKING BOUT THE PRACTICING. BRENT MASON, ALONG WITH ROY NICOLES, REST IN PEACE, ARE MY GUITAR HEROS
Reggie Young would give Brent a run for his money. The late Mr. Young not only recorded some of the most well-known and biggest rock, pop and R&B/soul hits of the last fifty years, but was a first-call session man in Nashville for many years. Based alone on Reggie Young's recordings prior to moving into country almost exclusively in the mid-late 1970s, when he was with American Studios in Memphis, he'd still be one of the most-recorded guitarists in history. Of course, "most recorded" can mean different things, too - most sessions done; most hit recordings played on and sold; most frequently booked as well as highest paid. Albert Lee must rank as one of the all-time leaders, alongside the late Cornell Dupree, who was for many years the top blues, funk, R&B session guitarist in NY City. Brent M. is a real monster; very humble considering the tremendous extent of his talent and experience.
Those are the kind of drummers and bass players EVERYONE wants in their band. Solid
I'm not into country music but I am a guitarist and this guy is one hell of a guitarist.
This guy could make dimebag throw up
You should also check out Greg Koch he’s bad too and Johnny Highland
Brent considers himself more a jazz guitarist than country. Jazz is what he like to play most.
@Clinton Chalkley 100% Greg and Johnny are unreal too!
Just checking in a year later to see if you’re into country yet.
Does the audience know what they're witnessing? I mean do they??
The-Art-of-Guitar I was thinking the same thing! The most underwhelmed crowd ever lol
No, what a shame, eh? I'm on the edge of my seat watching this stunning, world class performance!
Probably dont know he played on 3/4 of country albums in the 90s
They're watching like I would be! I'm glad they are quiet
No lol

Look at Hank Garland, Jimmy Bryant, Leon Rhodes, and Jimmy Wyble.

Brent's right forearm looks like Arnold Swartzenegger's for a reason! He's pluckin the heck out of those strings! haha
I have 1 arm like that and I don't even play. Lol
@@terrywaynebroadway7661 I wonder why…
Drummer and band gettin’ after it too, wow, stellar!
Got to give that drummer some good credit! Nice job
The drummer was fuckin awesome
sure, but most drummers, myself included play that all night. Simple train beat.
@@morbidmanmusic where can I witness that ?
@@morbidmanmusic So why aren’t you playing with Brent?
That Drummers Name is Scotty Schultz. Good drummer and Good Guy
I'm not the world's biggest country fan but Brent Mason is an absolute legend and I'll listen to his stuff any day of the week.
Amazing! I was lucky enough to have Brent play lead guitar on a few of my original songs and he made the songs sound awesome! Thank you Brent!
That Bass player needs some love to, he's DAMN good
ABSOLUTELY! You play bass too?
I think that's Dave Rowe, he played with Jerry Reed and Johnny Cash. He's just killing it here, with bass it's not how much you play, it's where you put it.

Dude on drums can keep the train going for sure... nice job 👍
he has to use the transit card to get onboard, because he is too young for a credit card tap on.
hmmmmmmhmmmmm
Well said!.... I'm a drummer/ singer and appreciate how SPOT ON THIS DRUMMER and BASS PLAYER ARE
....GOOD GOD!
Looks like a young Trey Landry maybe?
Brent Mason doesn't just kill it at country, he destroys jazz, blues, rock, fusion, etc...
The session GOAT of the modern era. Amazing player.
Brent Mason is a guitar legend
As a drummer, I absolutely love all the comments about the rhythm section here! Train beats are fun as hell to play!
I grew up 6 miles from the Mason brothers. His brother Randy is a fabulous musician in his own right with some pretty amazing credits. Used to go there on occasion and watch Randy practice.
Legendary playing from tremendously talented musicians.

Listen to "Don't Try This At Home" if you haven't already (by Brent Mason)
Jan Patrick Lucas I’m listening to Greg Marra’s podcast interview with Brian Wampler and he mentioned his name, never heard of the guy and here I am BLOWN AWAY! Goddamn!!!!!
"These guys". I've heard understatements but this one takes the cake
I just love the way David Gilmore is sitting back playing bass and saying I'm not getting involved with whatever is going on with these two lunatics 😅😂
THE DRUMMER PUTTING IN WORK
Most definitely 👍
One of the best studio session players in Nashville
If you listened to The Nashville Network in the mid-late 90's you heard Brent's music all over that channel's program advertising (commercials for Nashville Now, TNN Motorsports etc.)
His playing is ridiculous. He's the EVH of country guitar and a nice guy to boot.
Those are some sweet sounding teles and those boys sure do em justice!
Tele-communication
Sorry for the delay Randy - just got here...teleported.
Haha!
Nice!
The guy on the backup gee-tar smiling when Brent looks at him for his lead parts is so awesome
That's Chuck Ward; another monster guitar player in his own right.
This NEVER gets old!
respect for the drummer!! - He's "Bad" for Country! But vintage of green "tele" - and that guy's Solo - just awsome ------ thanx bros
This is totally mind-blowing. What a tonic.
Yeah! Thanks for posting this! Time to look into this Chuck Ward fellow...

All I ask for is to be inspired. Many great players out there but Brent is one of them that makes me stop everything and pick up my guitar on the spot.
You know you're a great guitarist when you're hand-picked by Brent to be in the band.
I love this man! Thanks for sharing it
OMG - freaking amazing.
Brent lays low and gets out of the way when the other guy is soloing. Class.
Ae Brent music from the first moment I heard it, I only have the first 8 bars of this song on my telecaster and pffff pure genius
WOW!! Just WOW!
I'd love to able to just improv like Brent Mason! He makes it look so seamless and easy. Just magnificent!
Real time players here and would love those guys to come to the Grand Ol Opry in Glasgow...G...
I bet the audience doesn't really know how many people Brent has played for all your favorite country songs dam near
I'm metalhead, but I must admit that this kicks ass !

The way the dude looks over @2:10 ish is just stellar. Love this.
Such a command of the guitar.

This is sorcery. He took Jerry Reed and his style to another planet.
Hell-a-master on the Telecaster.
Chuck going into super-shred mode at 2:13! Blazing speed!
Great David Roe rip.
That green Tele looks awesome!
Hell yeah!!!
And fyi of any haters of Brent, he is the most recorded guitar player ever! Theres a reason for that and that alone speaks for itself !

never heard this before, nice arrangement.
DAMN!!!
YEAH! 💥
CRAZY!!!
The master of the telecaster
That was Danny Gatton.
Wow! Better than any rock, blues, or metal shredding I’ve ever heard, Minus the decibel overkill. And the Drummer’s right on point as well!
Mason is a monster player
too damb cool!!
If I could play like that, I'd be smilin' a lot more !! Come on, boys !!
Not a country fan, but I like these guys playing the guitar, well done!
Too good to be!

That drummer is a giant! They work together like red beans and rice!

Man, danny gatton is just so criminally underrated
All those guys are awesome but this young drumer is unbelievable !!!
