Lauren has definitely been a busy girl taking care of her Dad! What a gift she is! It definitely helps having a good medical team when you have surgery! Merry Christmas everyone!!! 🎄⛄🎁
@sandygrant9220 Thank you so much for checking on me. I left a reply, but I'm not sure you got it. I'm back and so happy to see Ken doing so well and sweet Lauren lookin after her dad. Merry Christmas and God bless you all. 🙂
I went through some similar rehab at home 8 years ago with an operation on my shoulder. I studied musical instrument that i might build. I came up for starters, cigar box guitars. so, after 8 years I have built over 140 different instruments of all types. anything from thumb pianos to tank drums. It has been very rewarding to be able to give my 7 Grandsons nieces and nephews things I personally built. You might try yourself. love your videos.
Hi Ken. Glad to see your up and about so soon....really great! Just an idea or thought about an easy project that maybe your wife of daughter might like.....plant stands are always a nice addition to any house or apartment. Easy to build...not big or bulky...not heavy...and can be finished in paint or stain of your choosing. Justan idea to ponder on. Anyway, i'm really glad that things are healing and going well for you. Judt dont push it or over do it too soon. And a Very Merry Christmas to you and your family!! Cheers! 👍👍👍
Hey Ken glad you’re doing good!! Listen to your daughter,I have two that take care of me .both of us are real lucky to have them. Stay safe now God bless and merry xmas to all !! 6:30
So glad to see you up and around and in good spirits, Ken. Thought you and Lauren might break out in a line dance to boot scoot boogie😁. Thanks for the update. You are an inspiration to many. 😊😊
Small wood project: I made a salt box. It sits on my counter and I can dip my measuring spoons it to measure salt for recipes. I am glad I made it. Maybe your wife, friends, or family would like one too. It's about the size of a salt container from the store. I'm glad you are doing well!
Hey Ken ..... So GLAD that you are doing so well 👌👍👍 As you said yourself, ... the experience is NOT the same for everyone ! Just don't over do things and end up regretting it later ..... We look forward to your next video.... (Rick from Massachusetts)
Many years ago, my cousin broke his leg for the second time. The Doctor said he may never walk on it again. Well I guess he did here that and went on hopping around and always moving as a young teenager would do. Later that summer the doctor told his mother, his moving around kept the blood moving and helped heal his leg. So your doing the same thing. Good luck.
Wow, Ken, that's amazing!!! No walker or cane 2 wks out. Next month they are going to call for my wife's appt to have her knee replacement & 6wks after, the other knee. It's weird, no feeling on knee. You are a little farther along than I was at 2 wks. Keep up the good work. Continued prayers!!! And wishing the "The Ken's Karpentery" family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
So glad you're doing well and improving 👏. How about building shelves boxes with french kleat attachments for shop organization and painting the garage door? Merry Christmas to You and your Family 🙏
It’s funny how smells are important to us. When my dad had a stroke and couldn’t drive anymore, he wanted me to help him out to his truck just so he could smell it. 😢
I think the main reason you are doing so well is because your muscles were in very good shape compared to other people getting knee replacements, after your years of construction work. A lot of them have just been sitting in their recliner watching TV for years. My mom got a powered scooter after hip replacement instead of doing the rehab work, and that was it. She never walked again. Cutting boards made from different colored hardwoods glued together are fun and pretty, too. They make nice gifts.
Great to see your doing so well, and that Lauren is 'trying' to keep you in check lol. Thanks for Sharing the details, it's fascinating to know what they can do with the human body nowadays. Love to you, our 'Bionic' Ken, and family!*! ❤
Glad to see your recovery is going so well, obviously your attention to instructions has a big effect. Most definitely need to deal with winter water for chickens in Vermont. -5°F this morning, gotta go feed the chickens! Not that I really want to go outside.
I am very Happy to see you up and around. I guess that I do not need to say, a slip or fall could be bad so take it easy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God Bless and Healing my friend.
Ken you are sure lucky to have a daugher like Lorna who looks after you like she does and I 'm sure she has been influential in your rapid recovery. Wishing you a continued rapid recovery and all the very best to you and your family for Christmas and the New Year. Cheers from me and snowy New Brunswick.
Ken, I wish you a speedy recovery so that you can soon run around the terrain like a young god again. Merry and healthy Christmas to you and your family and a hard-working Santa Claus. Greetings from Berlin
A cradle would be a manageable project made with the hard woods you were given 😊 whether it’s for a doll or human! Your mobility is exceptional Ken, but listen to sweet Lauren 😂
Ken, it took 2 years before I had felling in my knees and ankles. Once you get your felling back, go for it brother. My knees took 2 years before I could run around. Bad weather, kicks my butt when it comes to trying to get around while handling the pain. My rehab center made/makes me walk about 1 mile right now. My surgery took 8 years for me to get back to normal walking and driving.
Im happy to see that youre doing so well, not that I expected anything less from you. Youre so blessed to have your wife and daughter for support. I wish you all a very merry Christmas.
Ken, I think a lot of us would love to see you walk around Lyndonville. Give us some of the stories. Give us some of the history. Converse with people you've known forever on the street. Go drop in on Dan and Chad and give them the business. You'd get your steps in. Thank you for your videos! Glad you're on the mend! Merry Christmas!
Hi Ken it looks like your healing well: as far as projects maybe you could build a matching vardo bird house. you could do that at a bench & take breaks as needed 🤠
Glad you are healing well. Maybe make a birdhouse to remember the Vardo by. Like an exact copy of the vardo with the color scheme but a birdhouse. Be safe and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Hey Ken, glad to see you're recovering nicely. How about building some mini garage Dog houses for some dog owners. You could do them in different architectural designs.
I love your daughter and your wife for trying to keep you from injuring yourself by doing too much too fast. We’ve been telling you that in the comments. Give them both a hug from me. Bless you all. My warped sense of humor makes my medical team laugh, too. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep your sanity! The first time I saw my abdomen after an emergency surgery (a long vertical incision with a LOT of staples) I commented that they installed a zipper! The poor nurse was still chuckling when she left the room.
@@sandygrant9220 as far as little projects to keep Ken from losing his mind, what about a few birdhouses? Many people might buy a little wishing well for their yard.
I'm back, bouncing around on the videos I missed when my internet was down. I wanted to check on your health first, before getting to the cool project videos I've missed. Lauren is so precious. She reminds me of my daughters so much. You are really getting around GREAT! It's only been about two weeks after surgery, when you posted this video. I'm bad about taking medicine also, so I can appreciate how you're trying to get back to normal without very much pain medication. I've always been worried about become addicted to those, based on experiences from friends and family. I only took Tylenol OTC, and even that was limited. You're doing so good with this. I'm so happy to see you up and around. Inspirational, for sure. God bless
I'm glad your recovery from knee surgery is going well, Ken. Project ideas: I think you should check out Justin Rhodes' free plans for a "chick-shaw" (moveable chicken coop) and Jason of "Sow the Land" (these are both youtube guys) has plans for a chick brooder that is kind of the size of a large dog house, or his moveable chicken coop, which is not made out of wood, but you could modify it. He sells his plans, but if you go to his youtube channel and look at it, maybe you wouldn't need the plans. Whatever you decide to build next, or if you don't build anything and just keep us updated on your knee recovery, I'll be interested and will tune in. 😊
Range Of Motion ROM One of the stretches for my PT involved putting my foot on a rolled up towel while laying down and the back of my leg is off the floor. Then using my leg to push down. I managed to get to past 90 degrees and into a negative 2 or 3. How is your lifting of your leg on its own doing? Are you going to PT somewhere? The best part for me at PT was having improvement and the leg massage, oh thoses felt soooo good. KEEP UP ON YOUR PAIN MEDICATION Have you watched any of the knee replacement surgery videos on You tube? If you do you will understand why there is so much pain. Happy Healing
Good day, Been watching your channel for some time now, but I never leave a comment. I just really enjoy watching what you're working on. Very happy for you that the knee replacement went really, really well, and that you are up and about. It's always a good day. It's actually a great day when your doctors and nurses are on your side and you all get along...man that goes miles! Anyways it's been very encouraging to see you with such a great attitude as I go through some of my own issues, not a knee replacement. Anyways, just want to wish you and your family and all your friends a blessed Merry Christmas🎄 and an amazing New Year all year long. Andrew (Ontario)🎉
Thanks Andrew! I hope whatever your issues are that they will be taken care of and you’ll come through it rejoicing. I’ll be sure to pray for you Andrew
🤔 Maybe you can craft a model knee with that hardwood, something to show to the ortho folks in your life 🤔 Merry Christmas to you and your family, Ken!
No, the nerves around the knee will not heal. There is a nerve that crosses the there that must be surgically cut ... and, the nerve doesn't grow back. However, your body's designer is great! Your brain will help make the numb area less noticeable. Unless I'm pressing my hand on the knee, I don't know that it is numb. Congrats, Ken! You are ahead of the healing curve ... nice to see that. Merry Christmas!
Congratulations on your knee surgery. Your progress ism truly amazing. Its nice to see great things happen to Great people!! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Wonderful family, every blessing for Christmas. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us
At the risk of being obvious, how do you know your limits on that knee unless you push those limits on a regular basis? Merry Christmas and hopefully the new year brings continued health / healing!
Good morning, Ken! Wow, you're doing great, Brother! I'm happy your recovery is going so well, and your surgical site looks perfect. I'm also happy you'll be doing your left knee soon, as your x-ray looks questionable. May as well do both 🦿knees🦿. You don't change just one sock🧦, right😃? But PLEASE be careful. As I had said before, you're gonna feel great and want to do things you're not supposed to do. DON'T DO THEM. Be a patient patient😁! Thank you so much for another year of truly wonderful videos and for taking us along on your surgical journey. BEHAVE! Wishing you and yours a Very Blessed 🎄Christmas✝ Day and a Happy, Healthy Prosperous 🎊New Year🎆! God bless you and your family.
Thre years ago I had a laminectomy fusion of my L4 & 5. Like you I was well ahead of schedule in recovery from the very first day. God was very gracious to both you and I in that regard. .......... Your caution to others to stay on a strict pain med schedule is pure wisdom. Folks, stay on schedule or pay the piper...... See you around the shop.
Well done on working on your knee flexibility post surgery. It's always important to stay active after such surgery, albeit in a sensible way. I am sure Lauren will be monitoring your activity onwards through the second knee surgery too. She is a lovely young woman and clearly adores you. Best wishes from Scotland.
God loves ya, Ken! You're healing quickly because you've been very active your entire life, up and down ladders tens of thousands of times, and so much more. I'm happy that it's going so well, and your left knee will be the same. You'll be back on the soccer field in no time! 😂 Now, let's talk about an extended warranty on those new knees... 😊
Merry Christmas to you Ken and your family. Glad to see your doing well with your PT. How about a wood box to keep your firewood in next to the woodstove. Some nice dovetail joints on the four corners. Cheers Edman
Merry Christmas to you. Wow. Another opportunity to buy a tool for dovetailing. I don’t have a wood stove, but maybe some other project using dovetailing.
That's great progress Ken! Soon you'll be doing the jitterbug again, perhaps even using The Force! A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!
Good morning my friend preyer is amazing 👏 glad your on the mend and you have great nursing also at home ,I can't believe we have the same pencil sharpener I zoom in on yours at the shop mine is mounted in my truck and same color lol well Ken I think you should start building small sheds and sell them out front they would be built much better than the box store you could name them Laura, the sandy, the Chad, make them all different take orders for them that would keep busy and more manageable to work with.so Merry Christmas 🎅 off to work I go ..🐊🌴😎
Your knee looks a lot better than my wife's knees. She had both knees replaced a year ago, 6 months apart. Now, she is way-happy with the end results. Keep posting content and I'll keep watching. Larry in Draper, Utah
Great news Ken, its tough when a person is used to being mobile and active. Dont overdo it and you will be ready to get the other one done. Thanks Ken!
Hey! Great progress, but slow down turbo. Please listen to Lauren. Only because I and all your viewers want to see you productive again. As you do too. Only takes one fall to make you all broken again. I used to do a lot of leg stretches lying on my bed. Kinda like a yoga thing. Keeping both my legs strong. and my back. As well as my arms. Lifting small weights. I also eventually did leg weights. Eventually. Rome was not built in a day. Don’t worry about projects, we just like hearing you tell us great stories. So glad to see you chipper this morning. Have a very blessed Christmas. Let us adore Him 🌟
Awesome news, Ken !! Could you maybe tell me what you had done to your shoulder? My shoulder is bothering me and I’m on the edge whether I should have it looked at or not. Nice hearing from you, and merry, merry Christmas to you and your family 🙏🙏🎄
With the hardwood you could make a cutting board for your wife and daughter. Also glad to see you recovering fast, just don't push it too hard or you could damage the progress you have.
How about a modular hope chest? Side and end panels that are manageable with a rounded top shouldn't be too much of a physical challenge, especially if the panels are made of 1/4" tongue and grove beaded board on 1x4 framing.
Your daughter is an absolute sweetheart! Someone who can keep you in line when needed! ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks. She does

Thanks. Good ideas. That door is ugly!
After a week of my second knee surgery, I started pt and the second day of pt I was doing 6 miles on the stationary bike
Wow that’s great

Haha yes refreshing
Ken, wish you and the family a Blessed Merry Christmas, and a Safe, Healthy, Prosperous and Happy New Year. Glad you are doing well!!!
Thanks
I think the main reason you are doing so well is because your muscles were in very good shape compared to other people getting knee replacements, after your years of construction work. A lot of them have just been sitting in their recliner watching TV for years. My mom got a powered scooter after hip replacement instead of doing the rehab work, and that was it. She never walked again. Cutting boards made from different colored hardwoods glued together are fun and pretty, too. They make nice gifts.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the north east of Ireland and best of luck with your new knee
Merry Christmas Christopher
Great to see how awesome your surgery went and how fast you have healed. Well done looking after this guy Lauren! Merry Christmas everyone :)
Thanks and merry Christmas to you
Glad you doing well this is my opinion on small projects. Bird houses or custom mailboxes
Thanks for the idea!
Good morning. Yes about a month to go for the next knee surgery. Merry Christmas and thanks for coming along
Glad you recovered so well
Well done on working on your knee flexibility post surgery. It's always important to stay active after such surgery, albeit in a sensible way. I am sure Lauren will be monitoring your activity onwards through the second knee surgery too. She is a lovely young woman and clearly adores you.
Best wishes from Scotland.
Thanks Jimmy
Merry Christmas to you in Scotland!!! 🎄
Merry Christmas Ken! Bless you and your family!😊
Thanks Same to you!
God loves ya, Ken! You're healing quickly because you've been very active your entire life, up and down ladders tens of thousands of times, and so much more.
I'm happy that it's going so well, and your left knee will be the same. You'll be back on the soccer field in no time! 😂
Now, let's talk about an extended warranty on those new knees... 😊
Amen. Yes limited lifetime warranty
Thanks and merry Christmas to you
I am still thinking a cane. Lauren would make a nice nurse, Merry Christmas to you & your family. Let's enjoy seeing you again in 2025.
Thanks she’s a great help
Good morning my friend preyer is amazing 👏 glad your on the mend and you have great nursing also at home ,I can't believe we have the same pencil sharpener I zoom in on yours at the shop mine is mounted in my truck and same color lol well Ken I think you should start building small sheds and sell them out front they would be built much better than the box store you could name them Laura, the sandy, the Chad, make them all different take orders for them that would keep busy and more manageable to work with.so Merry Christmas 🎅 off to work I go ..🐊🌴😎
Hey merry Christmas. Unfortunately we’re on a dead end road with 3 houses beyond us and I’ve already built a garage for one of them
Your knee looks a lot better than my wife's knees. She had both knees replaced a year ago, 6 months apart. Now, she is way-happy with the end results. Keep posting content and I'll keep watching.
Larry in Draper, Utah
Glad she’s doing well. Merry Christmas
Great news Ken, its tough when a person is used to being mobile and active. Dont overdo it and you will be ready to get the other one done. Thanks Ken!
Very true. Thanks
Take care Ken. Merry Christmas.
Thanks merry Christmas to you
Let us adore Him 🌟
Thank you very much good advice. Slow and easy. When’s the race. Merry Christmas.
@ haha
Awesome news, Ken !! Could you maybe tell me what you had done to your shoulder? My shoulder is bothering me and I’m on the edge whether I should have it looked at or not. Nice hearing from you, and merry, merry Christmas to you and your family 🙏🙏🎄
Thanks merry Christmas to you. I had a torn bicep
@ I see, mine is like in my shoulder joint !! Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
With the hardwood you could make a cutting board for your wife and daughter. Also glad to see you recovering fast, just don't push it too hard or you could damage the progress you have.
Good idea. Thanks
Sure happy for your speedy recovery, first I heard motion is lotion , like it!
Thank you!
How about a modular hope chest? Side and end panels that are manageable with a rounded top shouldn't be too much of a physical challenge, especially if the panels are made of 1/4" tongue and grove beaded board on 1x4 framing.
Wow fun idea! I’m writing that down
Great to hear your doing good!!! It's good to have help. Awesome daughter
Thanks so much
Glad to hear how well you’re doing and how quickly you are progressing! Enjoy your family and have a Merry Christmas!
Thank you! You too!
