So it's mentioned right at the end that the dimension shift wasn't just because of the main character's wish, but also because of Bernie's wish. As such they both get to remember after their crises are fixed.
James and Chelsea said Santa is a Bi-icon A Bicon if you will and I have to agree. And after watching Violent Night 70 percent for the David Harbour eye candy i cant even argue with his bear status as a queer bear myself so 2 more points to Dead Meat bringing their totally tally of being awesome people to Infinity plus 2!
They do foreshadow the mind control thing when Joel McHale is unmasked and Winnie says that there's something wrong with his eyes. And her aunt says that they've looked like that since Jimmy died. Still doesn't explain how Henry Waters got this power though lmao
My head-canon for the weird "Justin Long is the aurora borealis! But also it's angry that you haven't killed him yet" thing is that the aurora magic is people who were killed violently, so in the original reality the aurora is Justin Long's spirit, and in the alt reality the alt reality it's all the victims (since Justin Long didn't die). I mean, the movie doesn't even hint this is the case, but it's the only way my brain can make sense of it.
¡Congrats in the 200 Podcast Episodes! I know things have been rough with a certain vocal minority on your audience, but rest assure that your work is awesome, you are awesome, and the series of this channel lead me to an appretiation of the genre that I didn´t had before, and now I can´t stop obsessing over. So thank you both and the entire Dead Meat team so much and please, no matter what some people say, never stop to share your passion with the rest of the world, because it was that passion you put out that grew inside me into my own genunine personal love for the world of horror
Haven't watched yet but congrats on the 200th episode!! Love you guys, Chelsea has done an all round incredible job with this podcast all these years!!
This is a contender for new favorite episode of the podcast. I'm not sure why, but it just has such a calming nice vibe, and it makes me really happy. I'm so glad there have been 200 episodes of dead meat, and i hope there are so many more
My egg nog recipe for James: Separate 4 eggs In one bowl, mix the egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar and a pinch of salt, beat until bright yellow. Add 1/2 cup bourbon, 1/2 cup rum, 1/4 brandy, mix well. Add 2 cups half and half and 1 cup heavy cream, and a dash of vanilla. Mix again. Take the egg whites, add a half teaspoon of sugar, and beat until you get soft peaks. Gently fold the egg whites into the liquid stuff, add fresh nutmeg on the top, serve in a fun glass with a cinnamon stick.
Influencer is one of my favorite horror movies of this year. You should definitely watch it, Chelsea. Also, I would say that a lot of people would know Katherine Isabelle from American Mary.
I really like when typically like charismatic and well liked actors play evil slasher villains. Like I think Jack Black could do a real good horror villain, weirdly enough Adam Sandler too. I might sound crazy but I have a vision!
I appreciate that when Chelsea and James make a queer reference, it’s also a very specific reference. For example, Chelsea suggested that “Tragedy Girls” is a lesbian punk rock band that would have performed at Lilith Fair.
I think Bernie remembers because she had the same wish, she wanted to UNALIVE herself in the og verse and was also transported but maybe didn’t retain her og memories?
Watched this last night and thought it was great, it does the whole "turning a classic movie into horror" thing really well and respects it instead of outright parodying it I was also surprised by how well it is tone wise, it goes from horror to comedy to drama really well and also sprinkles in a little bit of sadness (that scene with Mchale and Winnie in his office got to me for some reason) All in all, it's a great Christmas horror that is now one of my favorites
I went into this with high hopes that it would be in line with Freaky, Totally Killer and Happy Death Day but was super disappointed in every single aspect of it.
@@benjones2003feel like you set yourself up for failure there. Just cause it’s another horror take on a classic story doesn’t mean they should be expected to all be the same. I watched Freaky and enjoyed and also enjoyed this as well but hey to each their own
I know James and Chelsea must have so much content to consume that it doesn't leave time for consuming a lot of new media but they haven't seen Yellowjackets yet?!? Omg I seriously need a Chelsea deep dive on her theories of what the mysterious symbol represents 😭
Wow 200 episodes. I remember buying spotify just so i could listen to the phantasm episode because I was so starved of these episodes. So happy for your guys success. Been with you since 2017 ❤
I loved It's a Wonderful Knife (it's on Shudder). :) An excellent addition to our holiday horror canon, if a bit heavier on the Holiday than the Horror.
I wanted to love this movie so bad. Aside from the amazing performances from Justin Long and Katharine Isabelle, it felt like the plot fell super flat. It was one where they had a fun idea but no real plot. It felt like half the movie was just her walking around asking people if they knew her and nothing actually happened until the last third and even then it felt rushed. The whole thing with her and the other girl kissing to break the curse or whatever made me roll my eyes so bad I almost turned it off. When it ended I was like 'wait that's it?'. Not even a mid credit scene which is what I thought was going to give it something more. Overall, pretty disappointed in this one which is too bad because I loved Happy Death Day and Freaky. Happy 200th episode though guys!
It's a Wonderful Knife is streaming on Shudder. Also, I think James is thinking of Rear Window, where Jimmy Stewart uses his camera flash to stun the killer, rather than Wait Until Dark, where Audrey Hepburn destroys all of her lights one by one to gain an advantage on her attacker since her character is blind. Great ep and congrats on the milestone! Here's to 200 more!
I was JUST watching this movie last Sunday night. I thought it was pretty good, even though I only got around 30 minutes of it, very bloody. I liked the kill with a big plastic candy cane going through a guy’s mouth.
Happy 200!!! I love this podcast so much and it brings me so much joy. Thank you Chelsea for working so hard for the horror community. I guess James does some stuff too so he gets some credit. Love y’all ❤
I love when my world collides and Chelsea talks about VPR!! Hahaha yessss. And it’s funny because I thought about Scandoval too when they talked about the bf cheating.
Yay 200! I enjoyed this movie, the word that kept popping up in my head to describe it was" cute" I definitely think it's a fun little Christmas horror
This movie was a lot of fun just a simple Slasher and Christmas movie and It's A Wonderful Life is one of the few non horror Christmas movies I'm not tired of
"This is a gay little Christmas movie" And that's enough fpr me to go see a Christmas movie in June... If it was next month at least i could say it's Christmas in July...
Wow 200 Episodes 😮. I Still Remember y'all Had under 50 Episodes, Chelsea Has Been Doing an amazing Job these Past few Years and I Couldn't thank Her Enough 👏🔥 As For This Movie That I Need to Finish, I'm Really Enjoying It The Tone of it Is really Good and the humor is Decent 👍 can't wait to Come Back afther I Finish it To Watch This Episode
James, your acknowledgment of bi-erasure and wanting to avoid that is much appreciated. It’s tiring to be the only ones sticking up for our identity so that was nice to hear.
Ok I’m excited to hear you’re going to do one more episode and it’s going to be a game one ❤ loved the game last year it was a lot of fun. Can’t believe it’s already been a year!
Hi Chelsea and James. Amazing work on the 200 episodes! You’ve heard it a million times already but I hope all the asshats on twitter aren’t gettin to ya too bad. Keep pushing and doing what you both love, together.
You just had to put that Ace of Bass song in my head and then every single time you said the title of the movie I was singing the song haha! Congrats on 200 episodes!
Congratulations on 200 episodes! I love this era of making Horror movies based on classic movie tropes! Happy Death Day, Freaky, and Totally Killer are some of my favorite movies of all time. This one kinda missed the mark for me though. There was too much focus on the dialogue trying to convince everyone who she was. I wish there was more character development and maybe scenes of all these characters she was upset with working together to stop the killer causing a new appreciation for them. And 🚨SPOILER ALERT🚨 instead of the “mind control” twist at the end I wish the mayor was the prime suspect for most of the movie, but in a twist he is murdered in front of everyone, revealing that he only killed the first few victims and there is another mystery person behind the rest of murders. That would have been a great twist.
Congrats 200!! Been here since PF and loved every second! Just saw this movie last week and my god I loved it! It’s going in the Xmas rotation for sure
I will say Community did show Joel McHale can be a dramatic actor (and a good one at that too)! In the Season 4 Thanksgiving episode, he portrays a horrifying, heartbreaking scene with impressive sincerity.
You didn't mention two of my favorite moments in the movie: the song "Holy F*cking Sh!t It's Christmas" song when we see the meth party and the "I'm the best so f*ck the rest" line
Excited to watch this movie! And congrats on 200 episodes, always look forward to and love these episodes. Also Chelsea that sweater is so slay, where did you get it? 😮
I get that the whole “Mary’s a spinster librarian, egad!” thing is funny to point out but it’s legitimately sad within the context of the movie and character. Mary’s whole thing is that she wanted to be a wife and mother and not achieving that dream in the alternative timeline is tragic in its own way.
I have a theory that the aurora spirit that died violently was Bernie who unalived offscreen. Winnie’s journey wasn’t Henry Waters getting revenge, it was Bernie showing that Winnie touches the lives around her and had the capability to be compassionate enough to show Bernie that she mattered. Also Jane Widdop and Jess McLeod use they/them pronouns. I know y’all meant no harm, just putting it out there.
The fact that James recited "THE ICE, IS GONNA BREAK!" in perfect sync with the actual scene is incredible.
16:05 for anyone looking lol
James would be a great voice actor I think lol
I ran to the comments to say this and I'm so glad it was the top comment
Congratulations on 200 episodes of the podcast guys! Thank you Chelsea and James for all you do in bringing this show and the kill count to life!
Fr
That's crazy it feels like yesterday when I was like oh dead meat doing a podcast huh that might be cool lol
So it's mentioned right at the end that the dimension shift wasn't just because of the main character's wish, but also because of Bernie's wish. As such they both get to remember after their crises are fixed.
So does Bernie just remember both timelines now? Seems like that would f**k a person up.
@@sim4344 I don't know about that. Evelyn Wang seems fine.
"I'm gonna say a hot take. There's a lot of good horror movies out there."
Why would you say something so controversial and so brave, James?
"I just like to be informed!" is also exactly me when I fall down celebrity gossip rabbit holes lmao

And after watching Violent Night 70 percent for the David Harbour eye candy i cant even argue with his bear status as a queer bear myself so 2 more points to Dead Meat bringing their totally tally of being awesome people to Infinity plus 2!
It was all over for me the moment I saw him in Stranger Things. Grumpy bear of a man with dad vibes? Yes please.
They do foreshadow the mind control thing when Joel McHale is unmasked and Winnie says that there's something wrong with his eyes. And her aunt says that they've looked like that since Jimmy died. Still doesn't explain how Henry Waters got this power though lmao

I think you're probably pretty much on the money there, although there were victims in the original reality so idk

Yellowjackets is VERY GOOD. You should definitely check it out.

Wendigoon's "commit Battlefield 4 exit lobby" is my favorite workaround for censorship. 😂😂

Adam Sandler would definitely be interesting 😂
I hope you guys know how much joy and comfort you bring to all of us.
I appreciate that when Chelsea and James make a queer reference, it’s also a very specific reference. For example, Chelsea suggested that “Tragedy Girls” is a lesbian punk rock band that would have performed at Lilith Fair.
I was introduced to Katharine Isabelle in Supernatural and went on to watch everything she was in. Loved her guest role in Psych!!
I think Bernie remembers because she had the same wish, she wanted to UNALIVE herself in the og verse and was also transported but maybe didn’t retain her og memories?

Had a fun time watching this movie and loved seeing Katherine Isabelle in the Hannibal series ☺️
I LOVE William B Davis and I lost my mind when I saw him in this movie 😅 he’s one of my favorite characters in X Files
200th episode let's goooo !!!! Crazy to think you were at 70-something episodes when I started watching (four years ago). Congrats, guys!

"The TikTok Voice will be the Only Voice" *vigo the carpathian impression*
Please write and direct Christmas horror movies! I'm so down for I Know What You Did Last Christmas!
Not you guys broad sketching an entire movie mid podcast. Classic
Not y'all shadying Ariana and Spongebob 😂😂 I was laughing so hard 😂😂 gotta love celebrity gossip!
The Ace of Base song is It's a Beautiful Life, but close.
The whole ants segment has so much potential for another “out of context game” episode
"ThE IcE iS gOnnA BreAk!!!"
celeb gossip tangents
"what are you waiting for!!!!!"
this ep is an all-timer 🫡
my favorite detail about this one is winnie’s aunt being named gale prescott in a nod to scream
the movie is not for me, but I’m glad I watched it so I can listen to my favorite ppl talking about it
Plz do a podcast on Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving
loved this episode, i love when they get a lil sidtracked it makes the whole thing more fun and entertaining!!! don’t apologize!!✨💛✨
I was not expecting some Ariana Grande discourse on this podcast but I am loving it
I LOVED 'The Soup' omfg!! This movie sounds like a lot of fun
Congrats on 200. Here's to many more.
God it feels like just yesterday I was watching the 100th episode, wow how time flies. Thank you for years of entertainment with these podcasts!!
Ah yes, the 1998 Psycho Remake. Good times...

Happy 200th episode!!!
I think one of the longest cold openings is from The Empty Man. I love that movie!
The empty man is so good. It's cold open had me flabbergasted.
This isn't horror, but Across the Spider-Verse had a really long cold open.
I loved It's a Wonderful Knife (it's on Shudder). :) An excellent addition to our holiday horror canon, if a bit heavier on the Holiday than the Horror.
Molly under the chair is adorable
the ariana grande shade is so real 😭 also your ideas for i know what you did last christmas sounds incredible i need to see it now !!!

If you’re a fan of Katherine Isabelle I highly recommend her movie American Mary.
I love when my world collides and Chelsea talks about VPR!! Hahaha yessss. And it’s funny because I thought about Scandoval too when they talked about the bf cheating.
The villain from this movie just got approved as pure evil. Great episode 😃
The early podcast episodes will always be the best ones
Yay 200!
I enjoyed this movie, the word that kept popping up in my head to describe it was" cute" I definitely think it's a fun little Christmas horror

200!?!?!?!? God i love this, and you guys. How far we've come from the early 2 camera pods way back in the day
It’s A Wonderful Knife is streaming on AMC+.

And that's enough fpr me to go see a Christmas movie in June...

Ginger Snaps mentioned. Love that series of films. 🐺
Edit: Ginger, not Giger. Though...

Boardwalk Empire, yes. Shea Whigham is the sheriff, last seen in Kong: Skull Island
This podcast was borderline unhinged and I loved it. 💕
you are my fav podcast to flight, congrats on the 200 guys!
Katherine Isabelle in American Mary is at the top for me. If you can’t handle medical type of horror though, not for you.
Mary’s whole thing is that she wanted to be a wife and mother and not achieving that dream in the alternative timeline is tragic in its own way.
and? she's not real
