I remember watching Monday night raw as a 4th grader in the "attitude era" and they literally showed the "big valbowski" smashing a chick in the bathroom stall before his match and you can see their legs embraced and the toilet stall door and walls were literally clanking and shaking like crazy... then went to commercial break and then he came out with the chick he was supposedly smashing and I remember Jerry the King saying something like you never do that before your match because it'll throw your performance off and will have a higher chance of losing.
Met Sean Morely at a signing at Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa during the attitude era...he was a super cool guy and took a photo with him I wish I still had it. Was a big dude and had the gimmick down with all the fans. I always felt he was under appreciated and could have had a bigger push because he was a great worker in the ring.

Obviously he had many good ideas. He was the head writer from late 97 through Oct 99 and wrote the Raw Magazine from 94-99. Not to mention he wrote the original Goldust vignettes, which were awesome.
Brutus Beefcake was obviously a similar basic premise, but Val Venis knew what to do. Beefcake didn’t. He took little to no take advantage of all the great sexual innuendo and raunchy humor directed right at women. He dressed up as a male stripper and then abandoned the entire point in his promos and performances. Val delivered. Raised the bar by lowering it and was really consistently funny and entertaining. So much that dropping the towel was a pop all by itself. Not crapping on beefcake as he had his own shtick and got over with other things unrelated to the actual gimmick that beefcake didn’t ever really seem to understand and probably couldn’t dance. Lol
Beefcake wasted potential with the gimmick, but takes sharp wit and comfortable speaker skillful with analogy and metaphor and I’m not sure he had that going on.
