Beautiful setup! 😊🐢 just a tip, make sure you soak those big air plants at least once a week or every two weeks and they'll do great! This is seriously so pretty and gives me tons of inspiration for my tank upgrades 💜
Thank you for the advice, I did have a hard time with air plants for a while but they seem to actually be growing for once! Thanks again for watching ❤️
Wow, I absolutely love this setup and beautiful tortoise too. Egyptian tortoises are really cute. I have three they stay mostly in the garden as our winters are short and mild. I take them inside only at night and during our three month wet/cold periods (winter) so my indoor habitats are small. Thanks for sharing the video of your very beautiful habitat/care.
Awe that's so amazing you're able to keep them outside for most the year! Its unfortunate i live in Canada and there's only about 3-4 months out of the year id be ok leaving a Tortoise outside. Thank you so much for watching!
Beautiful setup! So much thought and effort went into it 🙂 taking some inspiration for my future tortoise! Will be a Hermann’s for me though so a little different.
Oh wow really!? That’s so exciting you already have two! I can’t wait till mine gets older and a bit bigger, it must be so exciting to watch them grow. I’m glad you liked the new setup ❤️
I totally feel the homedepot part. I can not leave without getting a least one plant. Lol. I went to homedepot on my birthday last week and ended up buying myself $150 worth of plants...... ooops..... to be fair the $150 was a refund from a tank I got that was broken but still usable so it kind of felt like free money since I'm still able to use the enclosure.
@@RedsFaunaverse absolutely! And you always have to go to the clearance area because they mark all the plants down so much when they normally are just over or under watered!
@@RedsFaunaverse what?!? Every homedepot I've gone to has had one. They are normally in the out door section of homedepot, lowes, and even Walmart. They just put all of the plants that look like they are dyeing on a big shelf and mark them down so much! I've gotten so many cheap plants that just need a little tlc! Last time I went their were 6 huge shelf of marked down plants!
When i bought a uvb light the seller said only to buy uvb light half the size of the enclosure i dont know what to believe anymore I have a 44 inch enclosure and bought a 24 inch uvb and put it at the basking side
I personally have never heard of that recommendation before. Did they give an explanation as to why? Regardless some UVB is better than none. As long as the animal basks and spends a decent amount of time under the UVB light, then it should be fine
Do you spray down your tortoise home or use a fogger? I am doing all the homework as I am welcoming an Egyptian soon. I have found mix answers where one source says use fogger as it’s the natural way, one source says using fogger gets the tortoise home too wet so use spray instead. What’s yours suggestion?
I honestly think both are good. I personally spray down the home/have a moist area to avoid having more junk laying around since I have a lot of electrical equipment as is. If it wasn’t for that I’d try out the fogger. But I made the area underneath his ledge moist by putting soil and moss under it and spraying that daily.
How is the baby doing? I’m looking for one myself. I absolute love these little tortoises. Was Tortoisepassion a good source to purchase from? Thank you!
Yup! He gets misted twice a day and the area underneath the overpass is always moist. He’s almost two years now and his shell is developing beautifully. He also gets a soak often as well.
Yup! To my knowledge airplants and Haworthia (or succulents in general) are safe! TortoiseTable.org is also a great tool to use for double checking any tortoise related information. They have a database for all foods and plants that are safe and unsafe for tortoises. But Eden doesn’t eat them anyway.
@@suzettemiller9444 I like plants for my own enclosure aka my bedroom. Even though I don’t have Tradescantia in my enclosures at this time most sources I’ve read all say it’s reptile safe. The sap can be mildly irritating if it gets on sensitive skin and it’s very mildly toxic if ingested…I promise I won’t eat it though 😶
Unfortunately you would have to find a breeder in your country of origin as this species is endangered and listed under CITES. Shipping from another country to you would be impossible.
This was so fantastic thanks for sharing.
You geeking out about plants is the Christmas present I didn't know I needed. "It's so shiny!"
Haha who doesn’t live to geek over some plants, thank you so much and Merry Christmas!
That tortoise really got a whole loft apartment going on
Rent for this would probably be a fortune here in Toronto

Nice job! Love Eden’s new home. I’m sure she will love it too.! How long have you had her and where did you get her if you don’t mind telling.
Thank you! I’ve had her about 8 months now so it’s getting close to a year almost! I can’t believe it! But I got from a breeder in Montreal.

Great video 😊 does this type of tortoise hibernate tortoise 🐢 xx

Where can I purchase one of these tortoise?
If you’re not in Canada then I am unsure unfortunately. I got mine from Tortoise Passion here in Canada.
Where did you buy your tortoise?
A place called Tortoise Passion :)
Egyptian tortoises still need humidity and water to keep from pyramiding.
Yup! He gets misted twice a day and the area underneath the overpass is always moist. He’s almost two years now and his shell is developing beautifully. He also gets a soak often as well.
Where do you recommend getting one from?
A reputable breeder from your country of origin. I’m in Canada so anything outside of Canada I’m unsure, might have to do some digging and research.
I am also from Canada too! Wonder if we get it from the same breeder 😀
Are you checking the list of plants that are poisonous for tortoises? There is a long list!

That pinkish purple plant (Wandering Jew) is poisonous to pets.

do you know any breeder that ships those babies to philippines?

Im sorry but the usage of they/them had me thinking you had more than one tortoise.
Omg 😂 I didn’t know the gender at this time and I didn’t know how to refer to him. I now believe he’s looking like a boy 🙂
I thought they put pesticides on the plants at Home Depot ?
Always give them a rinse first! Quarantining plants is also a good idea too.
